[Q] l9 p769 root error beicked phone - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

I have a us T-Mobile p769 and I tried to root and put on a cm10 rom and ran into this error. I have rooted many android phones and tablets and kindles, and have never had so many problems as with this phone. does anyone know of a way to restore this phone?
I have tried redoing offline method but cant not get into the phone when put into SW update mode the only other option I have is the lg recovery screen for lg data techs. if I tried to do a hard reset it just goes straight back to this screen(see attached) thank you in advance for any help.

Fastboot and uxfix first then you should be able to flash and root from s/w mode.

What exact steps do you take ?
Make sure to fastboot your phone like described here before runing start.bat

I tried to use the fast boot method in that thread but it gets stuck with a black fast boot screen on the phone and the program doesn't know what to do because none of the phones are the same as mine. so I tried to do unfix after it had fastboot screen on phone but that didn't do anything to the phone either not sure how to actually get into attached screen or have a file to upload if I could get into it.

good, you are done with fastboot.
Put your phone into s/w upgrade
Do following steps 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11,(offline flash) from [GUIDE] Root L9 ICS/JB with New Lelus method & Offline Flashing [LOCKED BL] [31-Mar] by cmahendra Your phone should boot normally after that. Then from same guide steps 0, 5, 7, 8 (root).

You won't need unfix anymore, #12 and #13 can be done after you completely restore your phone.
Pinoyto has been working on CM10.1 ,which works quite alright but installation might be tricky and it needs unlocked bootloader.

another question I put 10g back on and used the bin for it but how do I get the back and menu buttons working and get it to stop having to guess where to click on ok and icons? I am trying to do step #12 and #13. if that cm10 works it should be the same way I installed the 760 cm10 I installed and messed up because I forgot to unlock bootloader first

cwm from #12 isn't exactly proper recovery , it works mostly as backup/restore for stock ics, you won't be able to install any roms from it.

(Guide) Unlock Bootloader First Try (P769)

Ok so a spark bursted in my head at 2 in the morning of an idea and it has worked so im noticed that alot of people struggle to unlock the bootloader but not because the steps are hard but there is one missing part i have found which is it needs to have a signal connection to you provider for it to work and the thing is when you flash V20B the radio is different so it sometimes might get the signal but that is like what 1/100 or something like that haha ok back on track my idea was what if i install the radio for the P769 which was extracted for the workaround that we had for the JB manual install via CWM on V20B and we would a working radio so the bootloader would unlock on first try and i tried it and it worked muahahaha ok so what to do
Well before you go flash V20B to make everything easier make sure this app is already installed on your phone
Artas Bootstrap Recovery Installer and make sure you have the radio zip on your sd card
Then make sure you have debuging on and show touches on also so everything is easier
Now flashing set up first go download the JB guide its in the root l9 offline method and download the bin for V20B ok so now flashing run the rootl9 bat file but for JB then start the flashing process and were going to swap the bin then after swapping let it do its thing
ok after it finishes go to supersu install the binary and after that go to artas bootstrap recovery and install it then boot to the recovery after in recovery flash the radio zip and let it install it takes a while maybe a min to 2 minutes and after it installed reboot and then you should see you have signal hoorah , now just let it sit for 30-40 minutes then after the time is up run the command "adb reboot oem-unlock" from your computer and it should take you to the acept to unlock it and just press volume up and tada you have unlocked bootloader on first try
Sorry For No Links but in a Hurrry Good luck

I meant no signal from my provider... but I solved it, doing a Hard Reset, I'm sitting here waiting the 30-40 minutes, so I can enter the command, I'll tell if it works, it should work now, hopefully, if you were right and you do need signal from your provider to unlock the bootloader.

Ok, I hate being hand held, but I have a question. Fm my understanding these are the steps I should be doing to unlock BL and Rooting the Sweet LG L9 P769 below:
1. First flash the V20B_00.KDZ Process.
2. Next Unlock the BL
3. Then Root the device Process.
4. Install recovery cwm, and the RC5.
Please let me know it this is correct, and add anything that i should lookout for.
When I start this process I'll make sure to take Note to write a first grader process.
I love this device for the price i pay for it, and i love a challenge.
My future device will be a LG optimus G Pro, but until then I need to get the LG L9 P769 hacked.

So I got my bootloader unlocked but unfortunately during the second flashing process the up test program froze and errored out, now my phone isnt recognized in adb devices and will only go into s/w upgrade mode.
Edit: I also tried fastboot and was able to sucessfuly get into fasboot but flashing the stock x-loader and u-boot was unsucessful and fastboot just gave me the "waiting on device" message.
Edit 2: So after quite the night of running through your guide and a couple of hard ships, I have to say this a very well written guide and it would have worked the first try if I had been doing too much multitasking while in the second flash process.
Overall was easy to follow and I got through after having failed attempts with others guide before due to oem unlock command not working after waiting.
Also I highly reccomend anyone who is going to try this to at least give the other tutorials on unlocking the bootloader for the p769 a solid read through. It will make a difference in what you understand and dont.
Lots of props and I look forward to seeing what you do for our phone in the future!

So carlos it looks like i was having the same issue as you that you posted in another unlocking bootloader thread, cant get past the adb oem-unlock. It just keeps doing a normal reboot.
I saw you got it to work with the wifi connection, is that confirmed needed for every attempt?
also in your guide you have the following command: Go to the Superuser App and update the binary the normal way
I dont know what that means , could you explain that part a little better. Thanks

I think the easiest way is to use LG mobile support tool. refer to this member post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2456558&highlight=encrypt
- Boot you phone to S/W update mode
- Run LG mobile support tool (B2CAppSetup.exe)
- Select recover you phone from menu and wait for about an hour
- *Dont forget to comment lg server that you add in host file for offline flash
There're also other way to fix it, if you can boot into Stock recovery by Holding vol- + ... (I can't remember ), but this combo may hard reset your phone if you don't have stock recovery. In stock recovery mode you can use adb to push and replace busybox. I don't try this myself but some member unbrick their phone by this method.

[Toolkit] Moto X Dev Edition Only for MAC OSX v2.03

Hello everyone. I just sold my Moto X so I will no longer be updating this toolkit. I will try and help anyone with questions/problems when needed.
Back by popular demand...
I have had some people asking for links for my previously deleted toolkit.
So I have decided to revamp the toolkit for dev edition devices only. (Currently only supporting GSM dev (AT&T and T-Mobile) and VZW Dev)
With this toolkit you will be able to the following...
1) Root your device (unlock bootloader, install TWRP, install superSU)
2) Unroot your device
3) Return to stock
4) Debloat (google, moto, vzw stuff)
5) Activate mobile hotspot (VZW only)
6) reboot (recovery, bootloader, device)
7) Customize (bootanimation, bootlogo, ringtones, notifications)
How to use
1) Click download below
2) Extract zip file
3) Turn you phone on
4) Make sure USB debugging is enabled
5) Plug your phone into the computer.
6) Run moto_x_mac_tools.tool
7) FOLLOW ONSCREEN INSTRUCTIONS

Moto X Toolkit v2.03
Change Log
v2.01 - Fixed some bugs with restoring back to stock, removed ReadWrite status (with dev edition this status is not needed)
v2.02 - Added downgrade from 4.4.2 to 4.4
- When returning to stock, or downgrading, USER DATA will be erased (no longer an option)
- There are only 2 variants of the dev edition so I changed to Verizon and GSM
v2.03 - Updated to latest supersu and TWRP
Please do not redistribute/mirror this toolkit. If you would like to link it in any other thread, please include a link back to this thread, give proper credit.
As with anything you will find on XDA, I am not responsible for anything that occurs to your phone or computer by using this toolkit.

Awesome, I used your old toolkit to flash stock recovery (so I could take the ota) and then back to TWRP. It was so easy! I'm sure others will appreciate this as well.

unlock with moto first?
Do I need to unlock my bootloader with Motorola before using the toolkit? I do have a VZW Dev device, but wanted to confirm.
This utility is amazing and a must for anyone with a Mac! Thanks x100!

You can either unlock before using the toolkit. Or you can use the toolkit to guide you through the unlock. If you go to root device. The 1st question is if you are unlocked or not. If not, it will guide you through the process of unlocking the bootloader (semi-automatic). Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for re-posting this tool.
I am trying to go back to stock 4.4 to get the OTA (I have a Dev Ed VZN Moto X). I followed the on screen directions and downloaded the VZN 4.4 file (640 MB file). Then the phone reboots to bootloader (ReadWriteMode is 0). I press ENTER since the device has booted into FB mode and it says USB connected, the ReadWriteMode reads error: device not found (I did not unplug the phone from the computer).
Is there a fix for it? The same thing happens when I try to download 4.4.2.
Thanks

When in fastboot mode. The readwrite will say device not found. An ADB command is used to check the readwrite status. And ADB commands do not function while in fastboot mode.
You are ok to continue.

Thanks.
I pressed enter to continue but my phone just reboots and restore does not work.
But when I tried to flash the stock recovery, readwrite says 0 and works like a charm. The problem only occurs when I try to restore the device.

I found a typo in the script. I am trying it now. Should see a new download shortly. Thanks for pointing this out.

Not a problem. Again, thank you for making a great tool! I will test out the new version and report if there are any problems. Let me know when the new one is up.

It worked. I was able to upgrade to 4.2.2. Thank you so much. One thing though, the color on the screen is off. So far it looks like the color red is off. This might be my device only. I am going to flash 4.2.2. again and see if it happens again.

I just did the factory restore to 4.4.2 and all of my colors are ok.
Make sure you erase user data when it asks you. But this will erase everything.

I did the factory restore again to 4.2.2 but I still have the same issue. I think something is wrong with my display. I think I need to call vzn and have them send me another unit.

Here is what I would do...
Just install TWRP and install Eclipse 3.2.1. This is the ROM that I use. It is great!! See if that fixes your color issue. If it does not. They I would say your device is f-ed up.

I tried flossing Eclipse 3.2.1 and the color was still off. My camera is not working as well. Maybe I will lock up the boot loader and restore it to 4.2.2 again. But your tool works great.
Currently on the phone with Motorola...
I should not downgrade to 4.4, right?

I am not sure if you can downgrade or not with a dev edition. I have never tried. I know some people that have a consumer VZW (locked bootloader) cannot downgrade.

Lollipop Root Method - Confirmed Working

I take no responsibility or credit for this. All I can say is I tested it successfully and wanted to share it with everyone.

Works! Worked first time, no problems. Didn't try fastboot or anything. Just like Titanium and AdAway.
Confrimed working LS990

I had this happened when i put lgflashtool on my laptop....
Works perfect!
I am on ZV6, I used the one click method (post #2 in the op link). Then i used flashify and downloaded the recovery from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g3/orig-development/recovery-twrp-touch-recovery-2-8-2-0-t2966096 and made a backup. Haven't gotten a chance to try a custom rom, but just wanted to share my results!
Great work to everyone who found this method! Was super easy and took about 5 minutes.

Confirmed where, and by whom, exactly? I've done this root method a dozen or more times so far in the past two weeks on several devices and not had one instance of any issues, there are no unwanted malware apps installed on said devices, no screwy services running that shouldn't be there or exist at all, and so on.
Looking over the lg_root.sh script offers nothing that can be installed on the device OR on Windows so that's a wash there too.
You sure your machine wasn't just basically pooched to begin with 'cause there's really nothing in this method that can screw up a Windows installation...
Can anyone confirm that this works for ZV8?
Yes it works... There is a one click method that does the same thing without the adb jargon to type in terminal.
doesn't work on ls990 5.0.2

Still not work .... script was run and reported as success ... no sign of root access gained. No SU app found, nor any root required app could be executed.
NOT WORK ....
Finally!!!
I have to start from Download Mode and run command manually line by line.
Fully rooted and flashed with custom ROM now.... LG G3 Sprint LS990 Lolipop....+ PrimeGSM 6.0 work like a charm!!!
Everything is okey now. Root through PC, install Recovery by app autorec. Easy and faster. Thanks all for yours share
no download mode?
I spent half a day trying "one button root" to no avil. I came across this thread. I followed the instructions, but when i power my phone down, hold "vol up" and plug in usb, all i get is the battery icon indicating its charging.
If i hold down "vol down" and power, i get get the recovery mode, but cannot get to this download mode. searches make is seem like im the only one with this issue.
Sprint ls990, completely stock, except debugging mode check in developer options.
