Stupid question, maybe Im retarded... Web OS

One question about HP Web OS...
I saw their tablet on display at Fry's and the web OS looked very interesting.
Is there any way to port this set up to the Gtab, or any other Android device?

technically webOS runs on the linus kernel so It's not impossible, but the porting of all the stuff they put on top of the kernel + drivers + everything else would probably be too taxing and not really worth it, so I would say you will never see a port.
no i don't think that its possible to port it since they are two different operating systems, but maybe someone really really really techy could. Its like Mac and PC you can't install Mac OSX on a PC. <- ignore that i feel really stupid now. lol

That point doesn't matter too much.
On my HD2 I can run WM6.5, Android, WP7, Ubuntu, and winxp, so the "other operating system" thing doesn't apply.
And you actually CAN install maxOSX on a PC and you can install windows 7 on a Mac.
I think it is technically possible to port WebOS, there's just no developer interest in such a taxing project.

[Q] Windows Phone 7 [Mango] ROM for Galaxy SII

Hello,
Some of you, or many, might have or might have not looked for a Windows Phone 7 Mango ROM for the Samsung Galaxy SII. I know I have.
However, to no avail, Google had failed me in my searches, and I couldn't find any, or maybe I've just failed. Also, I had a look around the forum, and again, there was no such luck. My guess ? Probably because there are none.
If that is the case, and developer working on such a ROM for the Galaxy SII ?Or, even, is there one already that is hiding from me, and from many others for that matter ?
never gonna happen, as its Closed source
Your post does beg a few questions...
Why not just go for a windows phone itself than such a ROM?
i am honestly refraining from saying something rude here...
If you are looking for a look and feel then here's some post on a theme

Please bear in mind that smartphones so far are more near to apple desktop/laptops than PC...
they can run OS from only one platform....
Not going to happen unless samsung put out a windows phone with similar hardware to the sgs2, and as wp7 has a very limited hardware spec which doesn't include the soc used in the sgs2 I don't see it happening anytime soon.

I usually express the same when people buy an Apple and would like to install Windows on it. Why not just get a laptop from the beginning ?
Anyhow, that's not the point. I've had my share of Windows phones [mobiles]. I first used a Windows Mobile 6.1 pro on my Samsung Omnia back in 2008. But, I didn't remain loyal to it. I am happy with my Android.
The point, is, or was, such as the HTC HD2, that is shipped with Windows Mobile 6.5, and can run Android, and also Windows Phone 7 [Mago too], thought maybe it could happen with the Galaxy SII.
It is not, however, going for a Windows Phone, but, it'd be nice trying it out without buying one. Not just the look and feel, sir.

That's because the HD2 has the same specs as the Desire HD (android) and HD7 (WP7)...

And microsoft were testing wp7 on hd2. In sure that's where the first rom came from. And that's why no other phones have had wp7 ports.

Ubuntu's full desktop OS coming to multi-core Android devices

http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/21/ubuntus-full-desktop-os-coming-to-multi-core-android-devices/
Not sure if this was posted or not. But if this comes out in the future with an unlocked bootloader is it likely we can install full ubuntu on our tablets?
I know you can install ubuntu now but it is slow, this is designed specifically for android phones/tabs.
A little late to the party buddy. Already a thread started on it. You should add this engadget to that thread. The other person had link to Ubuntu website talking about it.
Sorry about that, I'll need to find that thread

Acer Chromebook spin 15 linux?

Hi everyone
Everywhere I see the Acer Chromebook 15 is on the list of getting support for Linux, but not the 15 spin, while from the Chromebook 11 for example, I always see the spin version. Technically, I suppose there the same kind of device, with only a bit different hardware for the screen, but just to make sure, will the Chromebook spin 15 be able to make use of Linux apps?
Hopefully there's anyone who can clear up my dog about this.
Thanks in advance
Christophe

We share the same affliction it seems. maybe someone will know soon enough
Very strange as my Acer 15 (non spin) now has it in beta form. I think the hardware is nearly identical to that of the spin.
Not going to lie and say it runs well as it doesn't. Very slow to get on its feet and crashes often.
Maybe a blessing in disguise as you might get a more stable version.

Hi, I'm considering this chromebook but I was curious as to whether I can replace the bios with SeaBIOS.
I want to fully remove all Google software and run pure Linux.
