Help. New exploit. 3.18.5 please read - HTC One X+

Okay here it is. I am from the AT&T HTC One X forums. Currently we recieved a jelly bean update. 3.18.502... And no developers are even attempting to work on it. I have created a thread and a bunch of members have added some input. All we want is A root exploit and to unlock our bootloaders. If anyone can get a dev from here to come help us out that would be FANTASTIC!!! We are really desperate and if you would like to contact me directly with additional info please message me on Google talk at [email protected]
-thank you for reading.

Why is this here? There is a forum for the One X(in case you didn't know). Most of the members over there are already aware of the boot loader issue.

As much as Id love to leave this open and Id love to get my OneX bootloader unlocked (Im the Mod over in the OneX forum as well), this dosent belong here because its not GSII related.
This thread will be locked, but people can still click the OP link and sign up.

Possibility for HTCDev unlock....maybe..

I sent an email to htcdev.com inquiring why the DNA wasn't unlockable, here is the response I got:
Dear [ME],
Thank you for contacting HTC Technical Support,
[ME], The HTC Droid DNA is one of our newest devices, its official released date was today 11/21/2012. That’s why it is not unlockable yet; Please stay tuned on our HTCDev website for future updates.

Hm, that is interesting considering it was working until today. To me, that seems like it might just be something of a form letter to placate people but who knows?

Yeah I was thinking the same thing...i sent them a reply mentioning that it worked until today and asking for some more clarification
That's just some bull crap response to make you happy and give you some hope that they might unlock it lol. I wouldn't bet on that for anything. I would like to see what they say back to what you said though.

Lol i'm thinking you're right, I got that first response about 5 minutes after I contacted them....now its been about 45 minutes since I replied to their response and I haven't heard back from them yet
yea, dont hold your breath
HTC 's default response it's to "stay tuned". I asked them why the Thunderbolt had no ICS in June and that's the same response I got. And yet here we are and that phone will never see an official ICS release.

I just thought WTH...
I decided to mail them as well just to show growing interest... I did mention how it was possible already so it being a new phone is not an answer to why its not up yet. lol
So....they're blaming Verizon:
Dear [ME],
Thanks for your reply [ME],
I understand your frustration; However the HTC DNA is a new phone, it is discretion of the carrier to unlock the phone or allow the unlock codes on Official Development pages.

Work with hardware to make everything open source or release genwric drivers, then it won't really matter. More difficult but doable definitle

Can the new OTA be rooted / flashed custom recovery / etc?

I got the DNA about a month ago but when getting it Verizon did the update for me.. while "showing me the ropes".. even though I easily know more, but anyhow I'm stick with it. But it seems like I have to unlock the bootloader to get the recovery to root to flash Rom. But I'm unsuccessful even getting the bootloader unlocked for this ota for this phone. Is someone working on this or maybe I'm missing the current fourm? Thanks for any direction but I'd like to sometime test ubuntu on this quad core beast .. and get the bloatware off of it!

The answer is no.
Wrong section. Doesn't belong in development .
Have you read any of the threads in the DNA general or q&a sections?
From my S-Off DNA
For the 1000th time, no, unless you want to send your phone off to be jtagged you cannot unlock/soff/root your phone.

Send your phone to mobilevideotech.com
My phone updated as soon as I turned it on (my 3rd replacement.....I keep dropping them) and they were able to jtag my phone and s-off. Worth it for anyone who;s been updated for whatever reason.
Thread moved to Q&A
The above poster meant MobileTechVideos.com. Josh, the owner, is an original XDA developer.
Sorry for wrong section and yes I have tried to search before but many people saying many things. So thanks for clarifying with the extra info on where to send it too.

[Q] Why there are so many 4.4 KK ROMs for international and none for AT&T/TELUS?

Hi everyone,
as the subject says I tried looking for an answer in the development forum, in the Q&A and overall around but I couldn't find a specific technical answer to the question above.
I know that the evitareul has the LTE radio part which (probably) could make things harder but is that the reason why there are so many 4.4 KK ROMs for INTERNATIONAL and no > 4.2.x for AT&T/TELUS?
for the Mods: if this is a duplicate post, feel free to merge it wherever you find appropriate and I'll read the answer there.
Thanks for all your answers and all the XDA DEVs and community work. :good:
Well, if you read in the current threads that are available for the AT&TOne X+, you would have seen that we have a kernel issue and that the only dev for the Att One X+ is @Lloir. He is waiting for 4.2.2 kernel source which I put in a request for not too long ago.

Hi Alex,
thank for you answer. I'll check your answers/posts and read there then. Thanks also for your work then, hopefully we'll get rid of the kernel issue soon.

Don't worry, I knew it was a bit of a lame question but I couldn't really find an answer and knew that I was probably just missing it in a silly way, that's why I also said the part about the merging.
Thanks again and have a nice day man. :highfive:

My friend has one that just took the update.... can I root and unlock the bootloader ?

Yes, spamming is how you spur these guys along :lame:

Like I have said before. Until the newer models block the temp root exploit, they will most likely not burn another exploit for this old of a phone. When the Vzw m7 had a fix the m8 didn't get yet, jcase said himself, he will not burn an exploit on one model. Wait until more models patch the exploit and I am sure they will get another exploit made.
TL/DR? Wait until more phones get this fix on them. Telling them once is okay... Spamming them will most likely not motivate them on making another exploit.
