Why is this here? There is a forum for the One X(in case you didn't know). Most of the members over there are already aware of the boot loader issue.

As much as Id love to leave this open and Id love to get my OneX bootloader unlocked (Im the Mod over in the OneX forum as well), this dosent belong here because its not GSII related.
This thread will be locked, but people can still click the OP link and sign up.

Guys we did it!!!!!!!
VZW got our petition and my letter, as a result they allowed HTCdev.com to work to unlock our phones!
go to www.htcdev.com and follow the instructions.
good job to all who signed the petition, what an awesome victory!
here is the letter I sent:

Thank you to everyone who participated
Please read sign, and share the following petition.

With enough signatures, this can work. This is the same method that was used with HTC and resulted in the acknowledgement by the CEO, and the promise of unlocked boot loaders for all phones from now on.
Verizon is trying to protect us from ourselves, they claim that allowing the phones to be unlocked would "hurt" us, as we would not be able to get "excellent customer service" should we ever need troubleshooting advice from them.
We all know that we understand the risk associated custom software and roms, as well as unlocking and changing critical software. We can choose to participate, or choose to leave our phones as Verizon shipped them.
We want the ability to CHOOSE what we do with our phones, not to have VZW protect us from ourselves. Giving us the option to unlock is not the same as shipping the phones in an unlocked state... We simply want the option.
Basically what Verizon is saying is that since it is so easy to root and un-root with virtually no trace they don't want this to be easy because they have replaced thousands of phones already that were "bricked" by the users.
I wouldn't mind a minor lockdown making it somewhat difficult to modify the phone, but this type of lockdown is a little out of hand.

the current lock down in place can stay in place. We just want them to allow HTC to unlock our phones should we choose to use their unlock tool, created and supported by HTC, for HTC phones.
nothing has to change except that.

I'd rather petition HTC on providing unlock keys. Verizon already knows how to ignore us.

Ah, I didn't realize there was an HTC tool to do that. I am new to HTC phones, my previous two phones were Samsungs (Fascinate and Charge) and they were both ridiculously easy to unlock.
Will you be posting this on other websites? Rootz perhaps? Is there a rezound specific website to post it on? Come on people, only 7 of us want our phones unlocked? Sign, sign, sign.

I have posted my thread on several android forums (other than xda) a bit ago, which also included a link to Serinety's petition in it.
Hopefully we see more action on petition signing.

Send emails or contact HTC in order for them to release the sources. Then reply here. Simple enough, please don't make binary close this so keep it clean

This is a good idea but it would be more useful if contact info was included in the thread to make it easy for people to take part. I have included a couple. If anyone has other contact info please post it.

Maybe what sources need to be released should be stated also. It's the new kernel source and WiFi that needs to be released if I'm not mistaken?

I have sent htc a message about s off and here is what they replied
I understand that you want to be able to do certain things with your Android device. I do not have any information whether there will be any changes to the way the unlock boot loader process to include S-Off. I appreciate your input concerning this issue.
I think they might change the way the bootloader work, if we send them more messages about that. Am I right?
By the way Htc has amazing technical support. they replied to my message in few hours

Is there a way to get s-off in the rooting process? This is crutial for my rooting needs as I minipulate frame work in themes to get it to my liking I am holding out until someone finds s-off I know it's hard to crack but I am just patiently waiting so any update on progress would be most appreciated
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
You don't need s-off to do the things you want to do, please read about htcdev.
Also please don't post in the development forum

This does NOT belong here. NO YOU CAN NOT GET S-OFF. There is an entire thread dedicated to this developer discussion thread. DO NOT POST IN THERE AS YOU HAVE NO USEFUL INFORMATION TO GIVE.
Sorry if I knew how to delete it I would I was just wondering if it was even possible but yes I understand your nerd rage I do appologyse

Because if someone takes 3 seconds to read and understand the rules of the forums and looks for an answer before posting the boards wouldn't be cluttered with stupid things. Could I explain things in a more "polite" manner? Absolutely. We've all asked stupid questions before, and it has been my experience that if someone is politely corrected they will ask more stupid questions. Also I would not really call it "nerd rage" or flipping out. I simply made the important parts in caps to highlight important information, as it has been show common sense escapes the individual.
lol "nerd rage" haha.
But yea ok. I think you just make people look stupid, that's all.
Good talk. See ya tommorrow.

To be honest no it's not alright. I have had warnings for being less offensive by other moderators. Just because he can compile a kernel he gets off scott free time and time again. We can all compile kernels it's not that hard. So if i go and compile a TWRP or a CWM. Can i speak to people how i feel with no repercussions like kraizk?

again, the rules clearly state in the forum, do not post unless your post can help obtain S-OFF
I got the DNA about a month ago but when getting it Verizon did the update for me.. while "showing me the ropes".. even though I easily know more, but anyhow I'm stick with it. But it seems like I have to unlock the bootloader to get the recovery to root to flash Rom. But I'm unsuccessful even getting the bootloader unlocked for this ota for this phone. Is someone working on this or maybe I'm missing the current fourm? Thanks for any direction but I'd like to sometime test ubuntu on this quad core beast .. and get the bloatware off of it!

The answer is no.
Wrong section. Doesn't belong in development .
Have you read any of the threads in the DNA general or q&a sections?
From my S-Off DNA
For the 1000th time, no, unless you want to send your phone off to be jtagged you cannot unlock/soff/root your phone.

Send your phone to mobilevideotech.com
My phone updated as soon as I turned it on (my 3rd replacement.....I keep dropping them) and they were able to jtag my phone and s-off. Worth it for anyone who;s been updated for whatever reason.
Thread moved to Q&A
The above poster meant MobileTechVideos.com. Josh, the owner, is an original XDA developer.
Sorry for wrong section and yes I have tried to search before but many people saying many things. So thanks for clarifying with the extra info on where to send it too.

Crap, I somehow managed not to post this in th Q/a forum.. I'm drawing my flame suit now, mods please move.. my bad...
I came from the evita (att one onexl) I saw too often bricks cause evita time were flashed to an endeavor or vice versa so I wanna make sure I understand this correctly as I hate to be the guy with a thread titled "help please asap I'm stupid"... I just upgraded to the att one, I've rooted, unlocked bootloader and have s-off'd.. im reading that I can flash any Rom from this att section and the "normal" or other HTC one section..? Is this correct or am I misunderstanding some of what I'm reading... Here's my current the phones current state..
Also, for those that know me, yes I'll be a part of this lovely forum section now, I apologize in advance. for those that don't know me, hi.. I'm mikealo, dont believe the lies! Also, don't look at my previous posts, it will keep you from peering into an complicated realm of insanity that will alter your perception of much of reality that's reflected off the lenses of your eyeballs. At any rate, ill try to behave, happy to be here and thanks for the help in advance... Xoxo babes

That is correct. I too came from the OneXL and saw those threads as well, bricking by flashing a Rom for the endeavor onto the evita. I had the same question and found out we can flash from the AT&T and the normal forum. I'm currently running rayglobe Rom from the regular thread. I always double check just to make sure because it will say in the OP that it works for all variants (except sprint).
