[Q] Remove CWM recovery - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

Recently I came back from PAC to my previously made V20B stock ROM backup and tried to update it, but CWM interfered with stock recovery and my phone stuck in recovery bootloop. Now I have it fixed, but, since we have the awesome root method via CWM rom manager, it would be nice to have full OTA functionality, as there would be no reason to connect the phone to computer. So if I removed CWM, then the update would work (with unrooted phone, of course)? If yes, how to do that?

By the way, for others that have the same problem, I got out of bootloop by updating my phone with LG support tool (BC2App) to V20D.

lolz. clicked thanks button by mistake for query.
Reflash plain stock V20B kdz with offline fix method, CWM and Root(su) both will be wiped. Data and apps will remain as it is. Do not forget to backup first.

I really like that offline fix method, but still, it would be nice to have it done from the phone side, without a PC

If wishes were "always" a horses. If few things are possible then possible, others are not. BTW Superuser can be removed from phone, but at the moment, about cwm on L9, there is no known method. You can wait to see if something comes up.

Remove root. Help need please

Hi,
I am rooted on my S3 and all is good. However, my Father also has an S3 and last week he was talked into rooting it by his Grandson. All went well but long story short he was not happy with having a rooted phone so has decided to remove root. He has now done so by following various guides. He used Triangle away which he says went successfully and has used Odin to put the latest stock firmware on the phone which again he says went successfully. I was not there when he did all this but phone seems all good.
Except one thing. He has tried to install a couple of apps he had before rooting. Barclays bank app and Sky Go app. After installation these apps are saying they will not work on a rooted phone, but it's not rooted any more. I have booted into recovery using Volume down, power and home buttons and it says custom firmware / rom, I can't remember exact wording, but it says no. Also in the phone menu where a rooted phone says modified in device status it says normal or whatever it should say. Again can't remember exactly but all looks like no root present.
Anyone got any ideas on this? As I am rooted on my S3 and never un-rooted it yet, I do not know if he should have done something else. Will he have to root again to run triangle away or anything else. Or can this be fixed as the phone is at present?
Thanks for any help guys.
Cheers, Rich

One basic question..are you still able to go into recovery..vol up+power+home..if yes you are still rooted...you need to find your stock firmware and flash it via odin
check if it was a stock firmware your father flashed orcustom ROM o.follow this guide to do it again

Hi,
Just tried that and the S3 will not go into recovery via volume up, power and home. Tried several times and it just powers up as normal. He has just tried his banking app and it's telling him the phone is rooted. I'm stumped on what to do.
Cheers, Rich
Sounds like maybe triangle away didnt properly remove the count, was the firmware he downloaded the official one for his phone? Was it previously branded or anything like that?
go supersu and click remove root

Hi,
He has superSu on the phone. Presumably it has downloaded from the play store when restoring the phone. However, he tried to uninstall it which just removed the updates. Couldn't go any further. It is now asking for updates which he has done. But when he tries to launch Super SU it says no apps configured and won't go any further. I think the fact that super su is on the phone, the apps are thinking it is rooted. I am doing this all over the phone so can't see what's happening.
I'm wondering if the way to go now would be another factory reset and when restoring everything, try not to let play store instal super su. Would this be the way to go, or can we get super su off the phone without a reset?
Cheers, Rich
Try uninstalling super su with titanium backup. Then factory reset. Are you sure you have flashed a stock ROM and not a rooted one. This doesnt sound right.

Why not try reflashing again with original firmware via odin.

Didn't know there was something like that. Now I am on stock and un-rooted. I can still go into the recovery by pressing vol up+power+home keys.
Hi,
Trying to do these things with him over the phone ain't easy. I may just go and get the phone and do it myself.
He does have supersu on the phone and it is working, well it's installed anyway but obviously does not do the root things as the phone is un-rooted. There is an option in supersu settings to remove root but will this work as the phone is not rooted? Question is how on earth do I remove supersu. Do i need to re-root and remove it that way?
Cheers, Rich

Can't uninstall via Titanium backup as he is no longer rooted unless he roots the phone again. It is a stock rom. It was downloaded via the official rom thread on here.

This works very well for me

Flashing TWRP in CWM sent me back to stock recovery

I did a backup in TWRP before flashing the PA alpha ROM, realized I needed CWM, so flashed that over in TWRP. Fine. Installed PAalpha in CWM. Fine. Decided to go back to the ROM I'd backed up (Beans), so attempted to flash TWRP over in CWM. Rebooted recovery. Sent me straight to stock recovery. Still boots into PAalpha fine.
I've tried to install TWRP via goo manager, and it says it's successful, but I'm still on stock recovery. Did I f- something up? How can I get back to custom? Did I screw my unlock somehow (doesn't seem like it would...)?
I've been doing the flashing thing since the Eris, but have been out of the game for a cycle, and am wary of messing around with things now that I'm at a point I don't quite understand. Much thanks.
Unlocked and rooted.

Rooting issues, "limbo" unrooted after trying manual method

I have experience rooting in the past but not on this phone.
I tried rooting using the manual method a couple months ago and it did not go all the way through. At one point during the root process when I had to reboot into the bootloader manually the phone entirely rebooted since the evo lte is kind of a pain to reboot into the bootloader.
Now it seems I am in a state of limbo as the phone actually has a recovery on it, but it is not rooted as i tried to use titanium backup. I have also tried to use the regawmod now that it works with version 22.13.651.1 but I can an unhandled exception error after pressing the root me button.
I assume something isnt playing nice with each other since my first attempt at rooting didnt go all the way through but did install the recovery. I actually tried to install the newest sprint update and it got stuck popping up the custom recovery. I think it would be best to revert back to completely stock and try again but i am not sure how to do so. appreciate any help!

I didnt realize that would actually work! When it popped up in recovery I could go to install from sdcard I just wasnt sure if there would be consequences doing so. So I could reboot into the bootloader, go into recovery and flash a rooted rom from there just like always and it would give me root? That would be awesome

How to completely return to stock my i9100 ?

So yeah, my phone is like 2 years old and it started randomly shutting down. Before i go and buy a new battery, i thought i should put it back to complete stock (it is currentyl running siyah with some other mods and tweaks). Only way i remember to do this is by flashing a stock firmware through odin, i decided to do so but to my surprise nothing changed, i still had ALL my apps, SuperSu, extweaks and some other root/siyah-related stuff. how can i completely restore my phone back to complete stock ?
I repeat, flashing a stock firmware through odin didnt do the trick.
Thanks !
If you still have root, you can use Mobile Odin to flash a stock firmware.....it worked a charm for me

I think they were restored after u set up your google acount. If u had them backed on your acount automatcly install them after a google acount is inserted
Enter stock recovery and wipe data. Just make sure its safe for your rom to do so.
And at promp do not restore apps
Take care

I think they're meant to fool stock recovery into flashing a ROM (Because it thinks it's an update, you just have to rename it).
Check TiBu, you got an option to back your stuff into an "update.zip"
MO also allows you to flash one of those.

[Q] My Phone is bricked maybe?

Hello I'm new here how is everyone?
Okay here is my issue:
I have a Verizon Galaxy S4 its on Android 4.3 with the build ending in mj7. It is rooted via the vroot method. So I've been looking around for a custom recovery so I could flash a ROM (preferably CM 11). I've came across a safestrap version that worked with my build (3.70). I downloaded the apk, installed it, installed the recovery and booted into recovery fine. I made my back up via the tool and also have a Samsung kies back up from before my root. So after I backed up my data I did my data wipe of the phone. The generic wipe my SD card and the data in it are good. Well long story short the phone turned off without installing a new ROM. Well phone powers on and stuck on Samsung logo with the open lock on it.
Was wondering can I..
A: Somehow force the safestrap to start via adb and restore my back up?
B: restore my back up through adb itself?
C: Use Odin to restore my stock firmware somehow even while rooted?
D: Sideload CM from adb?
E: I'm out of luck buy a new phone?
Thank you.

You should be able to use Odin to get back to stock MJ7. There are guides in the development section. Just so you know, you can't flash Cm 11 with Safestrap. As far as I know, the only ROM that works with MJ7 and Safestrap is Hyperdrive 11. Even if you're on an older base, you would only be able to flash TW based ROMs with Safestrap.
My suggestion, do A LOT of reading. There's tons of info on these boards.

It worked. Didn't the first time but tried ODIN again with a stock mj7 ROM I found here.
I restored back to factory and implemented vroot once again, swapped out the Chinese (Korean?) superuser for our good old traditional one. I then re-installed safestrap apk and re-installed the recovery. I went in and found my back up I made earlier today and restored my phone back to how it exactly was before all this mess started.
Lesson learned I'll do my due-diligence next time and just keep my root till I can find a solid method to getting CM/Stock android on my Galaxy S4.
I'll try Hyperdrive 11
Thank you guys for all your help.;
