I utilized Bin4ry_v25 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...6#post33470626) to root my Xperia U. I'm just trying to confirm that this will also work on an Xperia Advance.
Couple of issues..... This should at minimum be in the Q&A forum, but should really be posted in his thread about the root tool. Does not need a whole new post.

Don't worry. You can post here until a Xperia P Q&A appear.

I don't have a Xperia P, but it is still with GB. ICS should come at the end of this month, AFAIK. Then, the real dev will start. Don't know about bugs. GB firmware is pretty good.

Can the xperia S be rooted via flashtool as as the xperia x10?

As I know, it isn't hard to port a ROM to another device, since I did it on my Tablet about a year ago.
I just copyed the things I liked from system\app to system\app. And didn't touch the camera app.
Unfortunately, things changed since than. Sony is using a .ftf format and the ROM is stored in sys and bin files (maybe it already was back than - i just forgot about it).
So my question is, how to port a ROM, for example the AOSP from Google to a Xperia device? Is it even possible? Is it harder than it was earlier (or did I just have very much luck back than?)
PS:

I am not talking about Xperia S so I thought this belongs here!
And if not here, where then? We only have these sections:

Xperia S Q&A
Xperia S, P, U, Sola, Acro S Accessories
Xperia S Android Development
Xperia Sola Android Development
Android development for the Sony Xperia Acro S
Xperia U Android Development
Xperia P Android Development

And it's not a MOD/ROM/etc, not a accesoire and not a theme/app!

There is ongoing progress on porting CM9 to the Xperia P (which I assume is the device you're interested in). No GSM yet, so kinda useless, but we're getting there. There is a CWM based recovery, too, so flashable zips will be fine.
Thread moved to Q & A section, kindly post in the relevant section next time, you've been warned.
Are you kidding me? This is Xperia S Q&A
