Good Evening!
Today I went to start up my HTC Amaze, and it came up with a screen with different colored pixels. It was working fine yesterday. Any suggestions as to what caused this and how to fix it?

so it looks like the device boots, its just something wrong with the display. If i turn it on, and wait, I can swipe up, (to unlock) then it will recognize the home button and other buttons at the bottom. I have managed to get the RUU to run its course, and that didn't help with anything. guess its fubar'd unless there are any additional recommendations

If its under warranty get a replacement. Looks like something went to poop with your device.

unfortunately its not under warranty any more. i just had it there because the speaker quality was horrible, and they wanted $300 just to fix the speaker. I dare not send it back for anything else. Just hoping to get it going before I had to resort to chucking it.

well if it's a hardware problem thats your only solution to get it repair :/

Really.......That's not good, get it sent off or try fitting a new one off ebay.
I had a very similar issue with my old HTC Hero, it turned out that the digitizer (touch screen) was broken. ( started more or less like yours but eventually the whole bottom part of the screen didn't work) I was wayyyy off my guarantee so I bought a cheap digitizer off eBay and did a home reparation, worked very well for me :-D
So yeah just send it in for repairs and you'll be just fine

"i", "j", and "n" keys on virtual keyboard do not work...wtf?!
My i, j and n keys are not working on my phone. I have tried 3 different keyboards and have tried typing in multiple apps and they are not working. I have tried restarting phone as well. Its like that thin vertical strip of those 3 keys of my screen is not working..
WTF?!?! Any ideas?????
It's a known hardware issue that Verizon is well aware of. It's happened to me twice (on my 3rd Bolt) and they will replace it for free. All you have to do is call 611 and get a rep on the phone. Sucks...I know!

Are you sure about that? Also, I've had had my screen replaced before because I dropped it and it cracked and my phone is also rooted. So they will mail me one or can I go to a store and pick one up?

I'm 100% sure. I tried everything (Reflashed Roms, Tried various Keyboards, Unrooted, and still nothing...) the first time it happened to me. You'll notice if you go into landscape mode in the messaging app it'll work fine. The screen has deadspots on it. You have to call them and they will send you another one "next day" air and within that package, besides the "new" phone, they'll be return labels. Just unroot your device factory reset everything and ship it back.
I will call. use my phone for work everyday though and have to have it for work... Can I go to a store instead and get one you think?

You can try, but not sure that they'll come thru for ya. Best bet would be to hang in there until you have a day or two off then call so it doesn't impact your employment. And in the meantime use the phone in landscape mode for what you need it for.
Called customer service and this issue was not in there database. landscape mode isn't much better at all. If I go to store I have to unroot

Trust me it is...That rep was garbage. I thoroughly explained my situation both times and they new about it right off the bat. I'd call back...it's a manufacturer defect and they have to replace it for free.
What is current firmware of thunderbolt? If I unroot I have to be able to root again and is that rootable

Are you sure? If you're wrong I'm totally screwed. What will they try and "troubleshoot" over the phone? What if they ask for the software version and what I tell them is not the one they are looking for?

I'm positive...all they'll say is to factory rest blah, blah, blah...they shouldn't tho...the only way they'll know is if you tell them...a knowledgeable rep will know exactly the issue. It's a known issue period. Look on the Verizon website. It's on their site talking about it...Many other users have had the same exact issue on here and other forums...tell them whatever is the latest OTA...

Ok but what if they ask me what my current software version is? I obviously cannot tell them my rom one, they need whatever the current RUU # is right? Which is what? 2.11.605.19?
Yes it is. You can tell them you have rebooted your phone multiple times and factory reset as well. Tell them you have already gone through all the trouble shooting and it still is malfunctioning. It is a known issue with the bolt.

Hi everybody, I have a bit of a problem. I was rooted and unlocked running CM10.1 perfectly fine but with the minor bugs that come with Cyanogenmod, no biggie. Its not the first time ive been running custom ROMS, I unlocked/relocked and 2 times before that perfectly fine. I started noticing that while running cm10.1, I would touch one thing, and a bunch of other things get clicked on, and I couldn't back out of them, or press home. I have to lock the screen, then unlock it and it works, I thought it was just a bug. It got really annoying, so today I relocked and unrooted my phone back to stock. But it does the same thing. It will freeze constantly, touch screen calibration is off sometimes, and does things on its own now.... I cant take it to sprint because I dont have warranty, and my HTC warranty is voided because I unlocked it. Has anybody experianced the same thing? Any advice, fixes, solutions? It will do it about every 5 minutes or so. THANKS IN ADVANCE!

hmm, i think I might of figured it out, i take my phone with me when i shower, not literally with me in the shower, i set it down on the table counter top. But it gets really steamy in there, i think the steam could of got in the phone, and its drying out, probably explains the little bugs...maybe

I noticed a section across my screen, approx 1/2 in tall, that I is not registering touches. I used ScreenTouchTest from the Play Store to test touches.I got it to go away for a little bit by pulling the battery a couple times but now it is persistent.I tried resetting my phone to factory settings and no luck. I am on stock ICS. Of course I don't have warranty, I was just curious if anyone else had this happen.

I'm 99.999999% sure it's a hardware problem. I had the same problem, and had to replace my phone. Unless you're willing to replace the touchscreen, I think it's unfixable.

Ya that is what I was afraid of. It was just weird that it will work after a few reboots. Oh well, eligible for an upgrade tomorrow, probably grab the HTC One.

ok i just had a fatal error happen, as i was running the 1.15 RUU (because i was having issues) status bar got to 17% the my asus computer rebooted to complete some updates that i had no idea were installing. mMy phone now does nothing at all.. no bootloader, no led when pluged in, i mean nothing. is there anything that i can do besides sell for dirt cheap,,, thanks
i guess with 100 views and no comments, that im screwed.. any developers out there need parts or a dead phone to tinker with ?.. i will be very slow to respond since i have no phone.. smdh

yes 100%.. my fingers are hurting from holding power and volume down all day, and part of me thinks that if i push harder it will work.. lol.. that didnt work either. well i did take it to the verizon store today to buy a htc one and i told the guy that it powered off and wont turn back on, so he got me one ordered (dna) for no charge under htc's one year manufacture warranty since he strongly believes that the battery is bad.. ill agree and get my refurbished phone and not complain, i just have to deal with a lg lucid for a couple of days

Yeah JTAG is the best way to go. It sucks to lose all the data but at least you have a working phone. You 're only entitled of 2 claims within 12 months on Insurance. If you use them both you'll be dropped from the Insurance coverage for a year; no matter if you purchase a brand new device. So I'd suggest you save them

i dont have insurance, HTC ia replacing the phone at no charge cause its only 7 months old and they come with a 1 year warranty..
