I have had issues with JB ROMs and turning Bluetooth on and off, then back on again.
Most of the time, I am able to turn on Bluetooth the first time without any problems. But, if I turn it off, then try to turn it back on, there is a flicker of the Bluetooth being on, but then goes back to the off position. Usually, a reboot will allow me to turn on Bluetooth, but not always.
I don't remember having this issue with ICS ROMs and I'm on the fence whether I should go back to an ICS ROM as I've gotten used to the features in JB.
Can someone help me please?
Yes it's a common bug. It's not something that would drive me back to ics though. I do the same thing you do when I need Bluetooth. Reboot if it isn't on already. I usually leave it on though.
Thanks! That's kinda good and bad news. I was just wondering if I do leave Bluetooth on, how bad does Bluetooth chew up the battery?
I suppose leaving it on and checking battery stats would be one way.

My phone has a few bugs that have existed from factory. First off, I can't power on my device with the charger plugged in. Second, the when I plug my phone in when it's off, it seems to studder when recognizing the charger: led comes on for a second, goes off, and comes back on. Third, it never fully charges. It goes to 99%, discharges until 95%, and repeats until I unplug it. It also won't power on until there is atleast 19% on the battery. Finally, when powered on, it randomly freezes/reboots even when not in use. It seems like signal strength plays a role in this, when I'm on wifi and leave range it restarts a lot, same with roaming and mobile data. I'm thinking the issue could be the battery, does this sound plausible or am I just trying to talk myself out of sending my phone in? Pre-root, and I did several factory resets, and and since I have tried everything from new roms to wiping battery stats. It's the most stable its ever been right now, running Magnus' "honeycomb" rom or whatever it's called.
Anyone????

Quick answer: Speaking from personal experience I'm using my own version of the stock sense ROM. The device should never randomly reboot. I use Wifi a lot and have a weak signal at home (have an airave to help out) and the EVO 3D has never randomly rebooted on me or locked up.
More detailed: I remember reading the device will usually show a max charge in the 95-100% range. I wouldn't be concerned with this read out after charging the device.
I haven't noticed the other issues you've experienced.
I would suggest returning/exchanging it for another model. The easiest way to return/exchange is by being able to duplicate the steps/actions which cause the device to freeze/random reboot.
Hope that helps!
Is anyone else experiencing sleep of death problem. Phone goes to sleep mode but doesnt wake up...sometimes the green light also flashes....
Ok...it doesn't seem to be a rom problem..I am on stock now and it did it again...
but I had my wifi to always on and right now i dont have a sim card so maybe they are factors...I will try to have the wifi not always on and try..

Never had this. Sometimes i don't press the "turn on" button hard enough, but it's obviously a different issue.
Hmmm...its weird...But i have been doing some research and some people seem to get a similar problem...
to make matters worse..one time when i pressed the turn on button it restarted...
Have you tried to recover to stock 2.3.4 with data wipe?
If that doesn't help - could be a hardware issue. (the turn on button got messed up)
i have this problem too..
And i have to use a charge only cable on wall charge or laptop..
With moto stock cable the phone dont start, on the laptop, neither on the wall charger

So I put it on air plane mode and had wifi always on. This time it didn't just freeze when i pressed the power button. the green led in the front went on for a few seconds and it restarted. I didnt have it connected.
I am using the latest stock fruitcake and the phone is unlocked and rooted.
Any ideas about whats going on?

This is really odd. The only time I ever had issues similar to this was when I left wifi on while using kholk's kernels, but since you are using stock then its not that.... Try keeping wifi off while you sleep it and see what happens.
OK....i think it is definitely the wifi...because i had it in airplane mode and it did not shut off.... so I am guessing the wifi is over heating or something....
Any known solutions for this apart from having the wifi turn off with the screen?
Most of these "Freddy Kruger" type bugs went away for me when I changed my battery settings to "performance mode"...

I will try with performance mode...so far no sleep of death or restarts
OK guys...a quick update...
It definitely seems to happen when i have wifi on all the time. I used green power to turen off and on wifi periodically and it seem to stop the sleep of deaths and random restarts.
I started using cm7 today..lets see if it stops this from happening. fingers crossed.
thanks you for all the help.

but i didnt use the wifi Atrix also has the sleep-death and random restart issue.
omfg i bought a random bomb
i want to buy a new phone no more Motorola again in my rest life!!!!!!!!
I get this occasionally too on CM7 with a T-mob UK Atrix. Haven't noticed any common denominator personally but I nearly always have wifi on.
Ditto on stock Froyo Orange UK. In performance mode, wifi on/off doesn't seem to be the root cause for me. Hoping that it will improve when I get Gingerbread (probably in 2014 *sigh*)
I have a BB WiFi Flyer, and just the other day I installed the latest Flyhoney ROM using the new easy HC install method. This was a first time effort and as far as I can tell, most everything is working well, except that the screen never turns off no matter what setting I have for Screen Timeout.
Coming from virgin GB, I wiped cache and data before flashing Flyhoney, as seems to be recommended.
I am not certain, but I believe that this screen timeout issue is new since flashing the Patches to remove the SIM Card Missing message and the Battery % patch. I did both at the same time, so not entirely sure if it is a ROM issue, a Patch issue or is there possibly an app that I have that is preventing the screen from turning off. I don't have any apps installed that weren't previously installed on GB, so I am assuming this is a ROM issue.
Has anyone one else experienced this issue since moving to HC and specifically the FlyHoney ROM?
Is your charging cable plugged in?
Sent from my HTC Flyer P510e using Tapatalk
Nope. Doesn't seem to matter if the charging cable is plugged in or not. The screen doesn't turn off on battery or on power.
What's worse, a calendar event will trigger the screen to wake, then it never goes back out without manual intervention, effectively killing the battery double time.
same here
looks like no way to fix it
Well, this is really strange. Suddenly the problem seems to have gone away for now.
The only thing I have done differently today than any other day since I installed FlyHoney was to put the tablet into Airplane mode for most of the day today.
I usually work from home, but today I went into my company's office, and since there is no WiFi there, I decided to put the tablet into Airplane mode as a convenient way of killing all radios and syncing attempts. Figured I'd preserve battery better.
Well, I just got home, turned Airplane mode off, now the damn thing is turning the screen off as it should have been according the the screen timeout setting all along. I've tried a couple different settings (30s and 2 min), and both work perfectly.
I just took it off the charger this morning. Didn't turn it off or reboot it or anything like that. Just Airplane mode.
I'm in dire need of some help. My phone is a stock unit that has had no modifications to it at all. It started shutting off randomly a week or two ago, usually when I would use GPS, bluetooth, or the internet but it does happen when everything is turned off (GPS, bluetooth, and wifi) When I turn the phone back on, the battery would be totally drained displaying to a critical level. This would cause the phone to shut back off. I can repeatedly turn the phone back on, and usually one of the times the battery will be displayed with more charge and allow me to use it, but if I did anything other than make a call the phone would shut back off. This problem does not occur if the phone is plugged in and charging (never shuts off randomly and the battery does not drain). I have already tried factory resetting the phone multiple times and that hasn't seemed to help. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried a new battery? Sounds like your battery is on its last leg. It could also be battery contacts on your phone, make sure they are clean and actually touching the battery when you insert it.

I second this, I had the same issue a couple years ago with my g1, a new battery made it run like new again.

what ROM are you using? are you overclocked? I had similar problem with some roms overclocked, my phone would shut down, restart, battery drain was horrible!! during calls would be the most annoying it would turn off and was walking have a conversation with the plastic by my ear .after some research and testing the problem was my overclocking was unstable at 1.2 + running on 1ghz after a while the problem went away
Your phone will restart or shutdowns randomly..if
1.You overclocked GPU or CPU to high performance.
2.You flashed any unwanted zip files for performance or somewhat.
3.You make the phone very heat[Main Reason].
Instructions:
1.Avoid playing high end games for long time(Like me).
2.Avoid playing high end or medium games above 20mins. while charging.
3.Don't allow your phone to heat.(Due to temperature).
4.Try Re-flashing your current Rom(if you installed custom rom).
5.Try flashing your phone.
6.Check your phone completely for viruses with a better antivirus.
7.If the problem is after installing some apps..Try uninstalling that.
Thats all i Know!
happened to me before more than once I agree that you should get a new battery but if you have to wait in the meantime, what I did was:
1. pull the battery out let the phone cool down
2. I put it back in and turned it on
3. If it turns on okay drain the battery till it shuts off by playing music
3. repeat 1 and 2 and if it turns on okay again repeat step 3
4. if not then let it stay off and charge it to maximum and it should be useable
I did this because I assumed that the phone for some reason wasn't reading the battery levels properly so I made sure that the battery was fully drained then charged it to max to fix that. It worked for me but its just to make the phone useable as I still needed a new battery. It drained very quickly and I had to be charging even 3-4 times a day on heavy use but if I only made phone calls and texts it got me through one day.
Hey everyone, I could use some help with a few Thunderbolt issues I have.
Here's a few points of description about the issues:
Whenever I use data on the phone (either 3G or 4G), the phone browses fine for about 3-5 minutes, then suddenly powers off. When I power it back on, the phone says it has 0% battery left, and will very quickly turn itself back off. When I plug it in to charge, the phone will turn on without issue and say it has whatever % battery it had before it turned off suddenly the first time.
If I simply use the phone for calls or non-internet things, the phone works fine. Once it's turned off once, though, it'll think it has 0% battery and not even offline things will work.
The phone seems to work OK for short-burst internet browsing, like checking email, but anything continuous (web browsing, streaming music) will shut it down within a few minutes
While plugged in, I can browse the internet, stream music, etc. just fine without the phone ever having any issues.
As a less serious and potentially unrelated problem,
The phone is not recognized by any computer. I have tried changing USB cables, computers, laptops, installing drivers, etc., but the phone only lists itself as "Charging" and never says anything about USB connections / USB debugging.
The issues first started when I tried out LiquidSmooth ICS about a month ago, with the recommended newer radio. I tried running the MR2 and MR2.5 radios on LiquidSmooth, and that didn't seem to change anything, so I went back to my old Gingerbread AOSP ROM, but the problems persisted.
Now I'm running stock with the stock radio (S-ON unrooted), and once again the problems are the same. The phone has been trying to download the ICS OTA update, but it always says "DOWNLOAD FAILED."
Anyways I'm not sure if the hardware on the phone has just broken, or if it's possible to fix through software. Anyone have any ideas? It would be much appreciated.
Sounds like you have a bad battery. Only thing I can say is you must not have properly unrooted your device or you have one of the few phones that will not do an ota update. I had this happen to my original droid when froyo came out. They try pushing the update but just wouldn't accept it. Also maybe your battery issue is causing your update issue. So just get a new battery and go from there.
