Just a quick question, if I do a nandroid backup, does it also backup the boot.img that has to be flashed before flashing a new ROM? So if I want to test another ROM and want to go back, I only have to restore the nandroid without having to flash the boot.img?
No, recovery can't write on your boot partition... You need s-off...

Thanks for the reply!

If I want to restore my backup of the stock rom, I obviously have to flash the boot.img. so:
1. Anybody have a link for the stock boot.img? Or can I extract it from the TWRP backup? Or do I have to download full stock rom zip to extract?
2. Should I not bother with boot.img, delete the backup, and just RUU if I want to go back to stock? bother
Thanks everybody

On other ROMs it is mentioned which which baseband(radio) to flash before flasing the ROM but in this nothing is mentioned.
I downloaded the ROM and gapps,
Should i start away flash the ROM i need to flash any baseband first.
Right now i am on Mwakious ROM - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1648407
can anybody help me.
Assuming you're s-off and with a custom recovery
Reboot in recovery, do a backup, do a factory reset, flash the rom then flash gapps
Reboot and enjoy

Flash rom, flash gapps, make a nandroid backup, put the latest PG86IMG.zip in your sd, flash it via bootloader, boot into recovery and restore backup! Hope that helps friend!
So I tried to use this website to get dumlock. But I ended up stuck in recovery mode. Everytime it boots it boots in recovery mode. How do I get out of it? I am s-on and my bootloader is unlocked and I have 4ext recovery.
Make sure smart flash is enabled in 4ext
-its in one of the menus
Wipe all your partitions except SD
Reboot recovery
Flash a new ROM or restore backup
I believe 'dumb lock' is a feature of twrp

I enabled smart flash, wiped all partitions except SD, rebooted recovery. By flash do you mean install the zip file and reboot? Sorry Im a bit new to ROMs
I sent you a pm
Yes after you reboot recovery
Install zip from SD
Alternatively you could restore a backup, assuming you made one

I have a soft bricked Evo LTE I was trying to s-off the phone but usb debugging is a prerequisite and the phone doesn't boot to system, only hboot In the meanwhile I'd like to restore stock rom and then have the choice whether or not i wanna s-off the phone Really I just need to restore it to stock rom The kernel, a zip file, can't be flashed through recovery and there's no way to flash it through fastboot either I think What I need is a nandroid back since twrp is installed and working so if someone could give me a back I could restore through twrp rather than having to flash Please help! Thanks
You can flash the kernel via fastboot. No need to worry about USB debugging. Hit the top link in my sig and scroll down to the section on S-on kernel flashing. Otherwise, I suggest installing a ROM like MeanBean if you're on the old partition layout, as it has a kernel installer to aid with flashing while S-on.

Flashing Kernel via fastboot HTC Evo LTE
OK I flash the kernel via fastboot using boot.img file but when I install the rom, Jewel_2.13.651.1_OTA_odexed_rooted_signed.zip, through recovery I get an error "kernel not installed" I'm running hboot 1.15 with s-on and twrp recovery Like I said before the phone's bricked it doesn't get past the HTC quiety brilliant screen

Did you try flashing the kernel after the ROM?

Yes Maybe it's the rom i'm trying to install I dunno All I really need to do is boot the phone so i can enable usb debugging so I can s-off the phone and then installing roms should be easier Maybe I should ask for someone to post a nandroid backup? What's a good valid stock rom for this phone?

Flash this ROM in recovery. Make sure you follow the installation instructions and also do a full wipe.
