So after having Motoblur crap out on me on this 2 day old Atrix because it wouldn't let me remove my facebook & twitter accounts, I decided to factory reset the phone.
I tried logging in with my Motoblur account, kept giving me an error (the website login also gave me an error), I created a new account and went through the setup process. (really hating the Motoblur requirement)
Now I'm in the default homescreen, logged in to my google account and Market, allowed it to update itself, and i won't let me update or install any applications. I only get a small note on the notification bar saying:
"Download was unsuccessful, please try again"
It does this on both WiFi and cellular data.
This phone was not rooted or modified in any way beyond installing an app via the Sideload Wonder Machine.
did I just get a bum phone? I'm fixing to go to ATT's store and have it replaced and see what happens there.
Most peculiarly, after two hard resets and it not working, I want into the att store and sure enough it starts working and updating apps as usual... as if to spite me. I am still puzzled as to what caused it, however. Maybe some delay in the market's authentication after the initial sign in.
I won't have my Atrix till tomorrow. But when I had this same issue on my Evo, I would go into settings, manage applications, select Market, then click on Clear Data and Clear Cache. Like I said I don't know if the Atrix even has these options in the settings menu. But if it does, give this a try next time this happens.

I am having the same problem after a Factory Reset. It's been 2 days now and I still haven't been able to push apps from the Market Web Store. I have tried the procedure described above several times as well.
I had the same problem, I ended up taking mine back to the AT&T store and they replaced it with a new one. Will see how this one goes.
Hi everyone, Just wanted to post this as I have found it to be useful for me.
I am sure some of you have seen this issue before or are experiencing it now. I have included a link to the youtube video.
what is the issue?
Recently after downloading the newest play store I started seeing an error message about unfortunately the process gapps has stopped working .
this was happening whenever i tried to add an account and when opening some of my apps including the browser and play store
.
it was annoying me but it would go away and the app would immediately open for me after so it was not that big of a problem.
I tried to solve the problem first by uninstalling updates to the play store in application manager
,
then by flashing roms and factory resetting
, however this did not help at all.
l
. finally last night at work my phone had three random reboots . my phone has never done that before
. I searched on google and found a very easy fix and once again my phone is like new
.
the fix.
settings/ application manager/scroll to left until you reach the all applications screen/ touch menu screen left of the home button/ reset app preferences.
here is the youtube link
. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zt_alKha_-s
it sometimes work, even uninstalling the updates and reinstalling works but is random
Thanks
What does kill us, it hurts
I am having this problem right now. Except not only am I getting that error I am getting mutlple services that have stopped as well as background apps.
I have tried everything except a factory re-boot. I haven been on the phone with Verizon and Motorola Level 2 tech support and no one could help me.
I'm at my wits end. I don't want to reset the phone because i have a lot of pics that are not backed up.
Additionally it seems that a phone reset is not a guarantee...
This worked for me. Thank you!
Thanks

.Cheers Bloke that worked a treat.
Sadly not working on my note 2 syncing google account.
Whilst trying to sync the two calendars from the note (4.1.2) to my Nexus 10 (4.4). Nexus is sending out and note is receiving (also to pc) but nothing is being released from the note
As well as above I have seen a "fix" being disable - re enable download manager in apps. Also a no go.
I've been seeing this pop up on odd occasions during the last month or so but not caused an issue with the activity at that time.
Cheers in advance

google play download issue
Hi everyone,
I had the same issue like you. I have Samsung galaxy note 2. But I tried your advice about reseting app preferences and it worked. But I have another problem. The Google Play app works but I can't download any apps. It looks like the app is downloading but it's not. Have you any ideas about this problem? Thank you! Diana.

Clicking the Reset App Preferences in Application Manager/All helped. Thank you for this!
Had the same issue and just found this thread. I just cleared the data and cache for Google Account Manager only under the application manager and it worked. Thanks.

This seems to have worked. I went into accounts and removed the Google account...then added again.
Worked for me. Thank you
None of these worked for me. I tried cleaning the cache etc as mentioned and removing the google account but nothing. I've restarted, powered down and pulled the battery but nothing has changed, I still get the gapps message along with play store, gmail, hangouts etc.
I'm running stock 4.3 on a rooted I9305 S3. Everything was fine until I tried a bit of a cleanup with Android Tuner Pro's quick optimization and clean p. After the restart the pop ups came and then it had a progress bar saying - linking to sd - which sat at 0% and never moved. I'd selected optimize apps loading, database access, fix permissions, clean memory and updated system apps, trim all partitions and clear caches.
Any suggestions? I had massive problems trying to install 4.3 when my titanium backup messed up some settings and I had to do another full factory wipe and manually install ALL my apps and settings, taking around 4-6 hours!
I wish I'd stuck to System Tuner Pro and hadn't touched the new version

It did same me from that every 4 second Error. I had to do the hit the OK on the Error and do the Settings > hit the OK on the Error> then tic the Apps> hit the OK on the Error than tick the All > hit the OK on the Error than tic the bottom Right droid control > hit the OK on the Error Reset Applications ........ with the Error poping up ever 3 seconds.
wow was that a bit o fun!
Had this F6 18 hours so far ,you saved me a bunch of Re-flashing Stock ROM ....... "stuff." :good:
Woe them tricky corporate devs. Even tho we bought the "phone" they want to rule it any way they can.
Thank you!

try this step:
On your Note, goto Settings. Choose Applications. Tap on the All Tab at the top. Locate and tap on the Play Store app. Tap on the Clear Data button. Tap on the OK button to confirm. Tap Clear Cache too
Then if you can see com.google.process.gapps in there, tap it and Clear Data and Cache too. Ignore it if you can't find this process there
Then find and tap the Google Services Framework and Clear Data and Clear Cache. Then restart your Note. Do the same for Browser, Download Manager etc again
Thanks, it worked for me
Thanks a lot dear, after too many trials finally your advice worked. you saved my day.
error message "process com.google.process.gapps, has stopped"
I have tried several methods from different forums/blogs, but all failed to remove this message, which appears repeatedly on my device Galaxy Tab 10.1 (GT-P7500) whenever I start browsing on the native browser or the Chrome & not otherwise. There are so many people crying on almost all android related forums for help but nobody from Google/Android owners or even the device manufacturers are speaking up to console these crying people who bought these devices due android fame. If these attitudes continue, I think the Android will vanish as the Symbian in the past. For myself, having found no solution, I have decided to live with it until the device gets a System Update next!
However, if anybody has found a solution, he may plz tell me, too!
Randomly today, I keep getting persistent popups that say Google Play services has stopped and another one involving com.google something about location I believe.
I have not touched my phone hardly at all today, haven't installed anything or changed any settings etc. Have tried rebooting phone, to no avail. Any help? Thanks
I think there was a update to google play services taking it to version 5 in the past day or two, maybe you got a dodgy update or it is conflicting with another app. Maybe try clearing data for play services then reboot the phone.
Thanks for the reply. Tried that to no avail. This is maddening.

Same thing happens to me as well, i can't figure out the cause. the other one is com.google.something.location.service
I am also getting this randomly since the latest Play services update 2-3 days back, mostly for the Dash app.
I been having Google+ force close even if cache and data clear
Having exact same problems. It also removes your Gmail account in back up and reset in settings. Only thing I did to make it stop was uninstall the update and reboot and won't update until google fixs the problem, idiots! I don't understand why they haven't pulled the update or updated the update by now.
Mine pops up every 2-3 seconds. I can't even make calls or text without wanting to throw my Z2 into the East River. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.
I am getting, "unfortunately, the process android.process.acore has stopped." after installing Facebook. Normally in the past I would clear "Contact Storage", reset and the problem was solved.
On Android 5.0 and this tablet this doesn't work, I have even removed Facebook and the problem still persist.
I have even went into Recovery and cleared cache but the problem still persist. I haven't even rooted the device, any suggestions?
Try factory resetting. I know its a pain but it may be your only option.

I am hoping to avoid that! I was just throwing it out in case someone has a solution.
Edit: Solution is I had 'Outllook' App Installed, once I removed it and rebooted, The error disappeared. I still can't get Facebook to work, I have a feeling it is the new Gmail, Calendar, Contacts Sync Transport is causing the issue, just have to wait for an update.
I encountered the same problem but uninstalling the outlook.com app didn't help. I also tried all the ideas which seemed to work for android 4.4 and older without success. I even factory resetted my device, but (I assume) after I reinstalled all my apps again, the problem came up again too. The message of the stopped android.process.acore shows up more or less randomly but I can force it when I try to open contacts. First time the problem occurred was after I updated to Lollipop manually and rooted my Nexus 7 (2013). Any other ideas how to get rid of this dreaded problem?
Same problem here
The problem came back, I assume it has something to do with the new gmail, contacts and calendar apps? I have to keep deleting apps that show up under Accounts until I can load Contacts app without error message showing up again.
After a factory reset and upgrade to Android 5.0.1 the bug or whatever, seems to be gone. Maybe just the update will help too?

I recently got this issue. Booting into Safe Mode and running only Google apps I have no problems. Some 3rd party app is messing with the Google Contacts app.
5.1 solves this issue! Got the update on my Nexus 7 2013, no more error message. I returned the N9, but will repurchase now that 5.1 seems stable.

5.1 seems stable on the Nexus 9? Where did you hear that?
I have a galaxy s3 i have just recently did a back up and reset also cleared the cache now that i'm trying to setup the phone im getting these error messages unfortunately google account manager has stopped working other apps do the same youtube and hangouts. Im unable to get past the samsung galaxy welcome page with the accessibility options every time i press next it comes up with error message and i get taken back to the same page. I've attached some images to show the screens i can access. Any suggestions on how to fix this would be much appreciated thanks also trying to upload photos from my pc onto the post but carnt work it out lol
You need to flash a stock rom via odin, that's the easy fix.
The harder fix is updating google play services. It seems to me that the play services you have is older than the apps it controls.
I wish I stole my HTC M9.
