Hi All!
Can someone help me please... I need this feature very much!?!
I want to know if there is a way to enable the "Skip musictracks via Volume buttons (long press or double press)" while display is off?
My DX is rooted and running the StockRom (ICS).
The Playerpro has this feature, but it doesnt work on my phone.
I also tried the app "Pocket Skip Track" ....
works fine WITHOUT Headphones plugged in.... when I use my headphones (HP-Symbol in the Statusbar) the volume rocker changes the volume!

The htc-phones work... but the sound and feeling is terrible (for running).... I want to use my own in-ear-phones (in german we call it "stöppsel":laugh
but I found a better solution (for me)....
the App "TipSkip" works wonderful.... with it, I'm able to change songs by "knocking" on the phone! :good:
hope it works while running! :fingers-crossed:
Haha viel Spaß mit deinen Stöpseln
Nur damit ich das richtig verstehe du willst eine App mit der man die Lieder wechseln kann während das Handy auf standby ist?

I dont think that function is supported, but i might be wrong.
ATB
PlayerPro's lockscreen function lets you do that.
Other than that, almost all stereo bluetooth headsets have track change buttons. I'm using SonyEricsson MW600 myself.

many thanks for your reply! I'll get this player !!
Have a look at poweramp as well for lock screen functionality.
Could be done with some key mapping? Although:
1) I've only read about it, never done it.
2) You'll loose volume up/down functionality on those keys.
Are their any other roms besides Ineffabilis v1.3 that have the ability to change the music track via a long press of the volume keys while the screen is off?
I use that feature ALL THE TIME in my system.
I don't know about all the different ROMs, but at least 2or3 I tried it with definitely DIDN'T work.
Wonder how they got it to work in ineffinbilis?

Works with Stock HTC music, Google Music, AND Pandora on Cleanrom gbe 1.7
Try Plug in Music Widget. It doesn't have a long press to change, but a double click to change tracks. It didn't work well until the last release, but now seems to work quite a bit better. He built some options into the double press so it can work more than just for the developer. It also is the cleanest music widget, and works with Google music, stock music, and winamp. Has some other features like auto start when headphones plug in.

Thanks for the info, but I am looking for something to change the music track while I am running. I hate trying to fumble with the lock screen, especially in gloves (for the winter) when I could just press and hold the volume key.
I agree. The zero click ease of holding the volume up to skip to the next track is simply amazing.
You can always use the beats headphones...
Seriously thought I'm looking for another headset with better audio quality, I've grown to like the inline controls.

The widget has an option to change tracks with a double press of the volume keys, screen off or all the time, your choice. It's not quite as smooth or clean feeling as the long press, but it still works.

Lol, the best thing about the long click feature is you don't have to use those POS headphones........
I use that feature 100 times a day at work because I can do it in my pocket without looking at the phone and it works with ALL of my many different headphones.
Almost all 3rd party headphones that have the inline controls are setup to work with iPhones and don't work in android unless you use an app like headset button controller.
Using the long click feature in the ROM I'm using gets around all that and works awesome.
I know, I was just being sarcastic. I do believe these are supposed to work with Android - http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/mc2.html. I have ER-4P's now.
For whatever reason I can't get it to skip on CR 1.7, I figure it out though. I loved having that feature on my D1.

Oh don't get me wrong, I love the beats earphones, but I drive roughly 70% of my day, so having my phone inline to my stereo is why I love the volume button skip.

Cool, I use a Motorola T-605 in my car, just hit the skip button on the BT controller. I do need a new mic for it though, it's not working anymore for some reason. Nice hands free kit over all, got it for like $50.
ok, I have a new idea for making money. Just take the bluetooth controls off and use them in your pocket. We could be like the guy that made the pet rock and make a million dollars.
when we play music there is a mini player at the top of the screen. But when we stop the music,it still there at lockscreen.I find some ways to make it disappeared:
1)at the lockscreen(when the screen is black) ,double press power key
2)at the lockscreen(when the screen is black) ,press power key in a normal way for 7 times ,and it works
Cool, thanks for the tip. Sometimes it is nice to have it there so You can resume music, but most times I want to make it go away as well.

Does not always work. Worked a couple of days ago.
Now I have pressed the power button from the lookscreen like 100 times and it's still there. So this is very inconsistent.
EDIT: ah my mistake I thought it would take away the info from the panel when you press the volume keys also. This only applies for the lockscreen info unfortunately.
Yup volume keys do work even when the device is locked. I hope you also know that you can silence an incoming call quickly by just tapping the vol up or down key.
There is also an app in the marketplace to remove the music player icon from the lockscreen and when volume keys are used

Just wondering if there's a way to change songs using the headphones you get with the s3? Or if there's an app that let's you do it?
Thanks!

if you got original headphone, then you'll find that there's 3 button..
volume up, volume down, then the "other button"..
if you press the "other button" once, the music will paused or started..
Just make sure u pressed it twice to change the song..
Check out Jays Headset Control in the Play Store.
Its meant for single button configurations, but it works perfect to with my 2 (or 3) button configuration S3 supplied earphones
(edit) note that stock works too. but the app gives more options like prev track
Ahhhh thanks guys!

I wasnt aware of that app, thanks
I couldn't get any of the marketplace apps to override the headset +/- buttons from acting as volume buttons, but have now worked out how to simply remap them to act as track controls, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28752382#post28752382

Hi everybody, I just have a question, I really hope somebody can help me, I`ve been try so hard, to make work my headphones in my rom cyanogen mod 10.2, (Atrix HD) buy they can`t change to the next track, I mean, I love music, and would like use the headphones to change to the next track, but it doesn`t work, even with headset controllers from playstore is such a shame because i have to go back, and stay with my stock rom, do you know something to fix this issue?

Thanks for answer me but, is not working, I did everything you say in that post, but I can`t make them work I see the whole Generic.kl from my original stock rom that doesn`t have problems changing to the next track o pause etc., and it is the same Generic.kl, I don`t know what is happening, is a really weird issue.
Just got my new Z2, very nice phone.
But it is unable to properly work with my headset.
It's an Fischer, with one button. This button does not play or pause my music (as it's supposed to do on my previous androids).
On the Z2 it is only able to change the volume up.
With Keytest I'm able to see its being detected as volume up.
Is this possible to change this without using root?
See attachment for screenshot

Sorry to revive an old thread, but is this a regular "feature" of the z2?
I tried regular 3-button android phones (samsung s4 and a adidas one) and in both the volume buttons work fine, but the call - play/pause button works as volume up. I also tried a couple of iphone compatible phones: in those the volume keys don't work but the call - play/pause works fine.
Is this an issue/defect/problem with my phone or all z2 have this problem?
Root?
I also have the same problem. Assuming that my phone is rooted, how do I change it?
Thanks!

Try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2363957
It is a stock feature of Z devices I guess, but with stock headset. I can't tell for sure as I'm using Apollo modded by myself that supports double press to skip track and triple press to previous song so I'm not sure

It might be related with the 4 tips connector used for the noise cancelling headphone. Sucks. But thanks for the link. It could be really helpful for someone with root.

Noise cancelling headphones have 5 tips connector. The one with buttons have 4 tips. almost any device supports 4 tips jack connectors.
