I have posted before too on this issue of random reboots on desire x. It seems that i am the only one who have faced random reboot problem multiple times a day( varies between 1-10).
Now i would like to explain my issue in detail. These restarts DOES NOT occur when i am using the phone and running multitude of apps.
It only occurs when the phone is lying idle or when charging. Sometimes it reboots with white HTC screen while sometimes it gets stuck on a black screen( not switched off), in latter case i have to long press the power button to reboot it again. I can't even leave my phone alone while charging because it may crash which will result in missed calls and messages. The phone worked fine for first 4 months of purchase so may not be hardware related. I did upgrade my software twice from 1.18.401(factory) to 1.18.720 . the latest update was 1 week before the problem started.
I did not spent my $400(Indian price) on buying a buggy phone which bothers me and left me wondering why is it behaving so strangely.
The trouble shooting i performed in last month includes -
FACTORY RESETTING 5 TIMES
RUNNING PHONE WITHOUT SD CARD
RUNNING WITHOUT ANY APPS INSTALLED
PUTTING A WEDGE ALONG BATTERY TO ENSURE GOOD CONNECTION
SCRUBBING BATTERY AND PHONE CONTACTS
USING PHONE ON SEVERAL SIM CARDS
The problem may be network related, i don't know.
I am so disappointed in HTC. Is anybody here on software version 1.18.720 and not facing problem of reboots. If the update is faulty HTC should come up with another one.
I am on a sabbatical and 300 miles far from nearest service station for another month. It makes no sense to cover 300 miles and spend hell lotta money just to get this goddamned thing serviced. My last hopes are on Jelly Bean update to solve this problem which seems to take forever in coming to Asia. Is there any way to go back to 1.18.401 which came natively with my phone or some other way to resolve it.
Thank You
Get it replaced in Warranty. THE JB UPDATE WONT SOLVE THIS ISSUE. As it is specific to some users and not others, so its not a SOFTWARE issue. Its Hardware Fault. Get it replaced ASAP.

Let the warranty guys wonder why the issue happened. Its a costly thing, and warranty is EXACTLY for these type of situations. USE it.
Just save yourself the hassle and get it replaced like nexus suggested if you dig into what the causes are it will take a while because i tried to with an older htc device
Jb wont solve it, if its kinda similar to my problem described in your previous thread, motherboard change is the only option
thanx everybody . so that means i will live with this faulty device for sometime more till i go back to my work place n have access to service station

Thats awfuly bad luck... cant you send it via mail to service centre? In czech republic, there is this posibility (and we are around monkeys level here in whole smartphone situation).
I also have 720.3 but don't have such problem.
That's absolutely a hardware problem, take it to service center asap n dont wait for jb update.

YEA may be i can but that will take forever in India to get a proper response from main htc office/SC that is 3500 miles away. I will be in bangalore in may/june so will directly go the main service centre myself. Additionally I don't think they will replace the phone immediately so sending over mail will be useless if i get the same phone back with some temprory tweaking from their side.
I have 6 months of warranty left till November so if it goes bad let it be, my case will get stronger.
Can i flash my phone back to 1.18.420 myself without voiding warranty.?
In future i will think twice before going for HTC
i read somewhere in forums that android phones also need to cool down for sometime and periodic reboots or what they probably meant is switching off the phone for few mins is essential for long life of the phone but may be its just me

thats old desire trick called "put that brick into freezer", but it doesnt help in long term, youll have to cool it whole time youre using it
RANDOM REBOOTING devices with STOCK ROMs have FAULTY HARDWARE.
I phone shouldnt reboot on heat even with extreme use, and if it does, its faulty.
If you have custom roms or kernels, then it might be due to software issue, but on STOCK, its always HARDWARE.

You remember me about my old Mio A701 phone who started to behave strange for month or two... and after that the radio chip crashed...
Also it happend on my wife's LG phone that a little dirty (mettalic I think) on circuit inside right behind the power plug was able to freeze the phone and some times to restart.
So, if you tried all that things and the problem is not solved then it is a hardware problem! You have to disassemble the phone and repair it! Or go to service center (never I had).
its not a heat problem coz .i can use this device for prolonged sessions. only when the screen is off and network on it reboots
PS. when is jb coming to India
Try one more thing there is a app(don't know name) which can increase the minimum processor frequency
Try that out may be your CPU has very low min speed, don't sure about this but give it a try.
If that requires rooting then don't do it.

Every time I reset or turn on my fone after shutting down, it will stuck at the logo boot up. It wasn't like that when I first bought the fone. Now it's getting worse and worse since the issue happens so frequently.
I have to take out the battery and put it back, then wait for about 3 to 5 mn before I turn the phone on.Then it would boot up as usual.
Is there anyone facing the same issue as I am? Any suggestion guys?
Are you experiencing excessive heat when this occurs? Also, can you give more info such as: does this happen only after recent charging or does it ever happen when the phone has been turned off for a long time? Was there any recent apps you installed or ROM changes when this started happening? Was there any potential damage done to the phone -dropped it, got it wet, or microwaved
When you say frequently, does that mean every time you restart? every other time? every five times?
Lastly, do you have any other issues/symptoms other than freezing at startup? Does the phone ever freeze during normal use?
i'd suggest you do a hard reset of your phone (hold down both vol up and vol down keys while powering on/resetting). that should fix the problem. if the problem still persists, it's probably some hardware faults.
Me too
My HD2 just started doing this too. It was fine for 7 weeks I have owned it. However, as described in this by OP, when doing soft reset would it would also get stuck on bootup logo. I'd have to remove the battery for a few minutes before it would bootup.
However, my HD2 also crashes and upon reboot then get stuck on bootup logo. It appears to crashes randomly eg not with any particular program or action.
I figured it was software issue so did hard reset. This worked fine. After hard reset the only software I loaded were Total Commander and Cookie Editor.
After Cookie Editor install I did soft reset and it got stuck on bootup logo. : (
So I did another hard reset but it hung up again upon reboot on bootup logo.
This appears to be a hardware issue. But has anyone else had same issue?

Hi. I got this problem for quite sometime and am so used to taking out and putting back and taking out and putting back the batt.
But now I have another prob: my ringtone suddenly went soft and I now have to keep myself alert all the time to see if there's any incoming call or SMS.
I would like to do a hard reset but the question is: will it set my phone back to the stock ROM or still retain the updated version - 1.66.707.1?
Thanks in advance.

HD2 issue
After some more searching it appears this is not uncommon for HD2. Its not clear to me if it is specific to T-Mobile HD2 or HD2 in general.
It appears to be a hardware issue. Although that is not 100% clear either. I find it hard to distinguish what some people report as 'freezing' which i believe is different to the issue described in this post which is 'hanging up' or 'getting stuck' on boot up screen - in my case it is the T-Mobile 'stick together' pink and white screen/logo.
(The 'freezing' issue that i believe is different to this 'getting stuck on bootup logo' issue appeared to have been resolved iwth new T-Mobile ROM - and I never experienced it on my HD2).
The resolution for getting stuck on bootup screen issue described here appears to have been to exchange HD2 (although some people exchanged up to 6 times and keep getting same issue!)
I think it is important to note that my HD2 performed fine for 7 weeks with lots of soft resets, hard resets, and lots of software installs (though no ROM reflashing) but within last week or so, start crashing randomly, then upon reboot get stuck on bootup screen/logo. This also became more frequent as time progressed. After doing hard reboot, the issue is now acute, eg it gets stuck on every reboot, and crashes more often.
This leads me to think some hardware has failed or degraded and is getting worse, maybe a connection/soldering etc?
However, is there any possibility that a ROM could 'degrade'? Can a ROM have a setting that is modifiable? (I know it is 'read only memory' but is it really?)
Anyways, love to hear from others on this issue.
Same problem here. Bought my HD2 in june. Cooked my own rom with Chucky's kitchen. Flashed different radios, hard resets, task 29 etc. Absolutely no problem. Worked fine for several weeks. But sometime it begun to freeze, auto resets, stuck at boot logo. It was getting worse. Even flashing stock rom it hungs at boot logo.
Now my HD2 is out for repair. Now waiting for returning. Hope they will change the motherboard.
several people have had their motherboards replaced and that has seemed to fix it for them. You'll probably have to fight with htc or your carrier, but should be able to get it replaced.
Hi guys. Another question:
I'm considering doing a hard reset. How do I store my messages before doing it? I can't seem to locate the folder that keeps all my messages.
TIA.
HD2 is an odd one
Thanks for replies. I really don't want to send it in .. but it will probably be the only way to resolve the issue. It will cost me courier there and back, and $20 'triage' fee .. total cost to me will be ~$100 just to have them look at it. Price of doing business I guess.
Anyways, I realized that one of my issues was that it was crashing when syncing. A little digging reveals that HTC Sense does something to all contacts when syncing first time putting a bit of html in contact notes field (weird but it is true .. its their way of reminding you bought an HTC phone?) So once I got it up and running, I disabled Sense and syncing went fine, no crashing.
(Btw, Sense also appears to do something with SMS msgs too so if you have lots it crashes on due to this reason too).
However, even with plain Jane MS today screen (eg not using Sense) it still crashed once on sync and again when listening to radio. Both times had to remove battery for few minutes before it would reboot without getting stuck at bootup logo.
But so far it seemed to be working 'better' without using Sense.
So, I re-enabled Sense to see what would happen and over a day it has crashed twice. I am going to see how it behaves for few days before sending it in as RMA repair.
Still, important point is that it was ok for 7 weeks, and then started crashing, more and more, even after hard reset, though some of issues may have been due to Sense (which is reported by many users).
It is still not a 'normal' thing for a $700 consumer device to have such erratic behaviour. So, given others have exchanged crashing handsets for new handset that has no issues points to underlying hardware issues as suggested above eg motherboard.
As comparison I also have HTC Diamond 2 which has been rock solid for 2 years of continuous use even with lots of software install, tweaking, reg hacks, etc.

Thanks. Btw I read before we can actually 'disable' Sense.
How do we do that?
Sense - go to Today
Go to Start - Settings
- iI you see the black HTC Settings (has 'Personalize' on top of items) then go to Menu and select 'All Settings' (this will show Windows Mobile's Settings. HTC Sense 'Settings' doesn't everything Windows Mobile Settings has or shows it differently)
- Select 'Today'
- Select the 'Items' tab in Today
- Check 'Windows Default' and click OK in top right.
This will 'swap' out HTC Sense 'today' with Windows Mobile standard Today screen and voila you will have 'disabled' HTC Sense and you are back to using Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.5 version of Sense (not anywhere near as useful or neat-o to look at but hey they are pretty happy with it )

Just by disabling Sense is not going to make it work. I had this problem with my HD2 also and without using Sense it seemed to be working (there were fewer crashes), but only for few days. My HD2 was getting worse day by day - it was not crashing only if it was not touched (it was crashing just cycling between Sense tabs or by initiating a call).
At repair center they told me (after three weeks of waiting) that the motherboard must to be changed.
Is it possible to damage it by flashing custom ROMs?
For me, this problem appeared after just one month of usage. I was flashed some custom ROMs.
Now, I have a new HD2 but I'm affraid to flash a custom ROM (at least in the near future).
I have my HD2 back. Took me 2 weeks, the repair center changed the motherboard and got an new IMEI.
Now all is working, no more stuck at bootlogo.
But i'm on stock rom (1.66) with 2.07 radio. No way to run Android with this radio. Hmm...

I'm afraid as well to flash any custom rom now. For Android i need to HSPL and flash a 2.08 radio or greater to use it. But i'm stick on stock rom for sure.
I want to know as well if it possible to damage it by flashing customs roms ?
As i stated earlier, i flashed plenty of roms, doing task 29 etc., in the end stuck on bootlogo.
Thanks for the feedback on your repairs axman79 and Kalip. Btw, aside from courier cost there and back, did you have to pay the $30 'triage' fee or whatever they call it? Also, did they challenge your observations at all or did they just replace motherboard without question?
Yah, disabling Sense hasn't stopped my HD2 from crashing eith. Without using Sense it crashed several times while using Opera and more than a few times while syncing over the past three days. Also, it still gets stuck on reboot often, requiring battery to be removed for few minutes before rebooting.
So, guess I will send my HD2 in for RMA repair too (and wait for up to 3 weeks) and hope I get a functioning device in return.
Interesting though I didn't flash my HD2 but it went from 'good' to 'bad' in similar way that your two HD2's. From reading other posts around here on XDA and elsewhere it appears that HD2 motherboards fail with surprising frequency and for variety of reasons.
Would be nice to know if HD2 motherboards are unusually delicate and something physically breaks, or if there is some electrical operation, eg charging it on USB or unusual combination of button pushes that shorts something out?
The fact that battery has to be removed for few minutes in order to get thing to reboot hints that something requires charge to dissipate eg a component somehow 'locks up' which causes crash, and needs to be discharged by removing battery?

I want to know as well !
hey guys. I am so glad I found this post! I have exact same issues ith my HD2, it's driving me nuts.
I kept sort of log and described my problems in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=712729
I think I have to send my HD2 for replacement or repair.
Can you please tell me how can I get my phone fixed/replaced?
I got the US T-Mobile version, but I don't have account in T-Mobile. Can I deal directly with HTC? Where do I have to call to get RMA number etc.
I would greatly appreciate your help!
KML
I bought my GF an HD2 from flebay, brand new, you know the type of ad "unwanted upgrade".
OK OK I know
It hasn't been blocked so the account is still running OK (seller didn't like the HD2 wanted cash to run an iPhone on the account)
Problem is, after 9months the HD2 has started overheating and rebooting when using data or GPS.
If My Location tries to update it reboots, sometimes goes into a continuous reboot loop, only taking the battery out will stop it.
It gets very warm around where the sim card is when this happens.
We've tried a hard reset, no different
Question: Will HTC honour the guarantee (less than 9mnths old) when I'm not the original owner or should I send it to a repair centre and cough up (I guess it needs a new Mboard )
Has anyone been in this situation?
Have I now got an unsaleable brick?
Thanks
I doubt it, have you tried the latest stock rom? that might change the way it runs
Or a not stock rom and radio from this site?

Yep, and cleaned the battery terminals, tried a different battery (out of my HD2).
The phone works OK if we cool it down by leaving it in a cold room for a couple of hours, but then as soon as it gets some hard usage, long phone call, data, GPS it starts to heat up and reboot again.
It just occurred to me we haven't tried a different sim in it, might try that and see if it's any different!
EDIT: GF hasn't used the phone for about a week now, now it won't get past the white HTC boot screen, just continuously looping.
yes they will honour it , i was in exact same situation and they told me it was 100% covered by the warranty , although the blanket email said to include proof of purchase customer service told me not to worry about it . had it back within 5 working days.
definitely sounds like the motherboard. Same problem with mine. T-mobile bought me a new phone.
I think the warranty date period is based off of the imei and when the phone was shipped out. I would call htc and ask. Couldn't hurt
Thanks for the replies, I suppose it's worth a try.
I'll let you know how I get on with HTC
Fixed
Update:
We sent our HD2 back for repair, HTC picked it up and returned it no charge.
Motherboard replaced.
Fault described on the repair document as "MB Current leakage, battery overheat, MB replace."
Totally excellent service.
Thanks HTC we love you
Hi, I've had my SGS2 for around 3 weeks now, and in that period I have had 2 random shut downs.
The first time it happened I was using the original firmware out of the box. The second time it happened (yesterday) I was using the latest firmware via Kies.
The phone is unlocked and unbranded from buymobilephones.net (UK), and I'm on the T-Mobile UK network.
The phone is NOT rooted and I am not overclocking.
Is my phone faulty or is this a software problem? Baring in mind this has only happened twice in the past 3 weeks.
backup data and factory reset would be my first step.
Followed by a return to the store .

Your contract is with the retailer not Samsung .
I would see if phone restarts again before returning it .
But would inform the retailer of the problem to be within 28 days .

I've owned several phones over the past 15 years and I've never had such problems before, even with my previous Android the Orange San Francisco. Seriously, if I have a £500 phone I don't expect it to shut down randomly even it it's only twice in 3 weeks. I've missed some important calls and texts because my phone has shut down without me knowing.

Well I have the same issue, it's in my pocket, next thing when I push the power button the screen just stays black.
Have to hold down the power button to drop it and then restart it.
Sooo, I had this happen once when it was on the table which took the phone in my pocket out the mix.
In the end I tried the battery fix with some geckostrip (that rubber easy removable strip you use on the back of phones to stop them sliding)
I put the strip on the underside (opposite of the connections) and wrapped it around the back (facing the cover).
This makes for a VERY tight snug fit in the unit.
It has now been 2 weeks without one single shutdown...so as much as I thought "this must be software or hardware related", it looks like it very well may be "hardware related" on the battery front.
For those who still have this issue try what I did and let us know your findings.
Cheers
Sheldon
Update: Okay never mind on the battery thing, phone lasted 2 weeks but just blacked out again.....
I had the same problem for many months but it stopped after I uninstallrd dolphin hd browser. No idea if coincidence or not but read a few others with sgs2 and dolphin installed had same problem. Do you by chance have it installed?

I've actually experienced problems similar to this twice now with my SII.
First time was straight out of the box. I charged it up and then took it travelling with me. I kept taking it out of my pocket to find out it had turned off. I thought it was my fault with the power button being in a bit of a silly place. But then it turned off whilst it was lying on my desk or in my hand whilst I was using it. Whenever it turned back on again the battery usage history showed a big sudden drop (10+%) in battery level and then it would increase slowly for a while after. Spoke to O2-UK and they got me to do a software reset and then a hardware reset when it reoccurred, which didn't fix the problem either. They then did a next day replacement.
After I got the most recent update to TW I started to experience times when I'd come to unlock my phone but the screen would stay black. It would, however, give haptic feedback when I pressed the power button but not respond to touch. I recently did a software reset of my phone due to another problem (it kept thinking it was docking this time - but stopped on the day I took it into the O2 Shop) and haven't experienced this since.
For so expensive device I expect only 2 "legal" reasons to shut down while running stock ROM with no additional software or changed hardware (i.e. battery):
1. Battery went completly empty (or as empty as power saving settings allow)
2. I forced it to shut down via power button
If it shuts down on its own under this conditions, first doubt is faulty hardware.
And then it should be quickly replaced by provider/shop/wherever it came from.
Everything else might raise doubt in faulty piece of additional software.
Have had similar issues. Uninstalled the go weather app / widget and nothing since. Might just be a coincidence though.

So I've read about this "sleep of death" that sounds like the same thing as what this is.
It appears to affect a wide margin of Samsung devices over time.
One post suggested it was because WIFI activates while the screen is off and the device is in sleep mode, thus blaming the like of apps such as Juice Defender and WIFI managment built into gingerbread.
I have uninstalled gingerbread, enabled watchdog to monitor utilization (out of curiosity) and set the WIFI sleep mode to NEVER.
One day down without a issue, I'll see what happens over the next few weeks.

I heard that frequent shutdown/reboots happens with 2.3.6 release.
If you got it, better go back to 2.3.5 or earlier. Iit worked for me.
I have 2.3.4 and i get these problems once a month or so.
Wy OH has the same firmware but she gets a random shutdown once a week. We both have the 1900 Anker battery (not stock one) - weird. I am going to try a different ROm and see if it makes a difference.
same issue but after i have deleted à few apps the issue was gone...?

whats going on?
I've spent 2 about weeks trying to figure out why my camera is no longer working. I tried to get s-off but with no luck so went ahead and flashed ICS while being s-on. I did run into some problems where the phone would get stuck at the htc screen but it turned out to be a bad download.
The phone runs great but for some reason the camera just doesn't want to load. When I launch the camera the phone acts as if its about to load but just freezes at a black screen. The phone is unresponsive until after a battery pull or on occasion it will restart on its own after some time. Hitting the back key and home key don't do anything but give some unresponsive haptic feedback.
The day that I noticed it wasn't working was the day my amaze overheated when using navigation while on the car charger. It's overheated before with the same setup and has always worked fine same goes for my HD2 and TP2. I've already called HTC and T-mobile to see if it's a common problem, which it isn't, so it's either a repair or refurb.
I'm a little weary thinking that it could be a hardware problem since the heat is generally around the camera lens when the phone gets hot. Especially with the risky method of achieving s-off again around the camera. I'm hoping I'm just paranoid and this turns out to be a software problem.
I would like to get some input from you guys regarding my problem. I love this phone too much to get a refurb and doubt htc can fix it if it turns out to be a software issue. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I actually had this problem when I first got my Amaze. It worked fine for one day, and then the next day, when I tried to open the camera app, it would give me like blank screen and freeze up (like your phone). I did a factory reset, went back to stock, etc, but nothing fixed it. Luckily, it was only my second day since I received the phone, so I called TMobile, and they replaced it with a new one using expedited shipping . I don't know what your situation is, but if you try going back to stock, and it still doesn't work, I'd trade it in for a working one.
IF you dont have a reciept, call HTC And set up a warranty exchange as camera is a hardware issue not a software issue (since uve voided your warranty on teh software by upgrading to ICS)

Yea I got a warranty replacement through t-mobile yesterday. I'm hoping I can still get my original Amaze working because there are a few minor things with the replacement that are going to bother me, not to mention getting everything back to the way i had my original phone.
Backup via recovery and restore to the new phone.
Yet another problem with my device: random reboots. No matter what I'm doing, lots of apps open or only one, battery high or low: the screen goes black, the red LED blinks a few times and off the device goes. Any other people experiencing the same?
You most certainly have a faulty unit.
It happened once. I got the phone on Tuesday. I was reading on Flipboard. Let's see how it goes.

it happened to me too, it was within 7 days period so i exchanged it for another one, the new one has been problem free
one of my friend also had random rebooting problem on her z3c and she sent it in twice for repair without success, if i didn't hear her case i wouldn't have demanded an exchange
Happened to me too, listening to music with my headphones, I pause the music to talk to someone, 5 minutes later press the headphones button to play, nothing happens and when I check the phone it was rebooting. Hasn't happened again yet, was 7 days ago
My phone has rebooted maybe 5 times in two weeks. Usually phone has been idling on table.

Seeing all responses here, it doesn't look very promising... I dont want to send it back yet, because the "service and repair" here in NL is a joke. They do a factory reset, say everything is fixed and send it back to you. I've experienced this before several times with my Z3c...
Hope a sofware update gets rid of these blackouts and bugs.
I got zero reboots after 1 week so i wanted to let you know because its to easy to get negative things out while the people with no problems dont come to the web because they have no reason yet
I had this problem, I fixed it by flashing latest build from xperifirm, and
I also had noticed media storage app using 1gb of memory so I forced close n cleared data and problem has gone.

that's exactly what they did for my friend's z3c, they kept believing it was a simple software problem, you gotta be tough to get more
like the other guy said, my first z5c would reboot just sitting on the table doing nothing, i suspect this might be more than software
Ill repeat, mine does not reboot for itself, and if would be, its an obvious sign 1) you did something what the device doesnt like, 2) you clearly have a faulty unit. Peace of cake, nothing to worry about, just exchange it and voila.
I've been having this problem on my brand new Z5 as well. I bought it from Clove so I really don't want to have to send it back. Gonna try and see if I can narrow down the cause or try to see how I could fix it (factory reset, reflashing the stock firmware or whatever).
Really hope it clears up.
Edit: So I repaired via PC Companion and I don't want to speak too soon but it looks like it's all good. The first time it happened was after installing a bunch of apps, including some older ones as well as some obscure ones. It's entirely possible that one of those apps were at fault. I've tried my hardest to replicate the issue since the repair (and being much more conservative with the apps that I've installed) and I haven't seen it happen once. I'm definitely hopeful now that it was an app-related issue and not a hardware one.

Just out of curiousity..
What color is your device and from where did you purchase it?
Ive been hearing about faulty white Z5Cs which Sony acknowledged even.
Mine is black. But I have only had one spontaneous reboot the second day after I bought it. 3 weeks now and it hasn't happened again.

Mine is black color.
I have it since 4 days, and it already rebooted three times randomly ...
I don't know if I'll keep this phone or resend back and have an other brand device.
It happened with my white one when I had my SD card plugged in. I sent it back and got a new one
Mine's black and it never rebooted on its own
Black Z5C. I've been getting that kind of reboot regardless of repairing via PC Companion, or build number.
Any thoughts on what might be the issue?
Also, off topic, I believe I have two dead pixels (installed Screen test, and two pixels can't reproduce blue color) and I was wondering if that was an issue that might get me a new phone or just repair (it's been 2 months since I got it)?
I've had it for a month and maybe have gotten one or two reboots. I recently took a week long vacation and got 4 or 5 freeze/reboots. I'd be viewing photos, taking a picture, recording 4k and it would freeze. Power button could still bring up the menu but screen is not responsive. Eventually it reboots with the red led flashing. Only one it just rebooted with no warning
I have between 0 to 3 restarts/day. Sometime it crashes and freezes in the crash without restart. That is very nasty. I'll try to track it down.
