yeah i can still get to recovery, yeah i was trying to get viper4g 2.0 thats when it all started. i got to install the rom but when i reboot my phone my phone reboot to the bootloader and when i try to restore my back up its successful but when its time to reboot it just goes back to the bootloader, i tried installing a different rom but its just the same over and over.
So I recently switched over to the Evo 4g LTE and I'm trying to get everything set up to flash ROMs and such.
I unlocked the bootloader, rooted, and installed TWRP 2.3. I tried to flash the latest Viper 4g ROM but it wouldn't go past the boot screen so I figured I must not have something set up correctly.
Still a little iffy on the S-Off, S-On and if that has anything to do with it. I have extensive experience with flashing on Samsung phones so the switch to HTC has me a little lost. Thanks for the help.

I flashed NOS 7 2.0.3 and i was put in to roaming. i went back to previous rom and still stuck in roaming. It is really bugging me. Does anyone know what to do. I am begging for help.
hello
Something similar happened to me when I flashed one of the aosp roms but I couldn't even get past the activation. What I did to fix it was to do a clean flash of the same rom, I think it was pac, start the phone up without the sim card in but connected to wifi, finish the activation, then go into the networks setting and change the cdma subscription to RUIM/SIM.
I'm not sure if this will help you but it's worth a shot I suppose.

I had the same thing happen twice flashing a cm10.1 rom. What I did to fix it was install stock hboot 1.15, and run the stock RUU to go all the way back to stock. Make sure you relock your boot loader before running RUU. Get back to stock, go into boot loader and do a factory reset. Fixed mine twice. Maybe the long way of doing things, but it worked. Then you'll have to unlock boot loader and install custom recovery. Hope that helps.

I thought the ruu wouldn't run against an unlocked boot loader? I had to lock mine to get it to run, may have been another issue that happened to clear up when I did it, too.

Ok... Im at a lose. Im still roaming. Im at 2.04 firmware. In bootloader it says "unlocked" at the top and S-ON. I've trying to update to current OTA with no luck. I've heard of issues with the SIM. I havent had any speciffic SIM card faults. If thats the issue i'll just get another SIM.
Thanks again guys
Edit: the SIM has been verified to work in original phone (broken screen). So maybe I'll swap it back in new phone.
Edit 2 [solved] Factory reset from bootloader. Thanks to c0ruptiv3 for having the issue before me.

This happened to me a little while back. I flashed back to 1.15 hboot, ruu'd back, rebooted, skipped through the setup and let it sit for a little while, rebooted into recovery, did a factory reset, rebooted again and I was roam free!
did the same but tried booting into recovery there is no recovery installed. not even stock android
Stuck in roam
I am not able to get my computer to recognize my DNA therefor I cant do any of these steps any help would be awesome.
Try *#*#4636#*#* and Phone Information. If you are on Verizon it should be cdma/LTE. Also your phone should not be in Global Mode in Mobile Network settings. Last time I was stuck on roaming this was why.

Ditto! Had the same thing happen to me, this was the only way I could get out of roaming. Doing the factory reset from stock recovery was key for me. I did everything, relock everything, flashed the RUU and was still roaming, it was only after factory reset from stock recovery did it come out of roaming.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
Factory reset from RUU is the way I fixed mine when it happened to me. I did not relock bootloader before RUU though. Maybe make sure you put the stock splash screen back on and go back to original hboot before RUU.
I have rooted multiple devices and flashed countless roms on this phone but i went to update to sense 5 Y-6 and got stuck at splash screen. Then when i tried to go into recovery it shows the "TWRP" logo and then reboots. I then tried to fastboot flash an older version of TWRP but still no go. I did do a full wipe before trying to flash Y-6.

Yep. If you can't get adb working. Plan b. Look at my signature n look for recovery zip flash. Download the normal recovery not kitkat one. Rename the zip to PJ75IMG.zip n added to your root external sdcard. Boot back to your bootloader. Flash it. Power off your phone. Remove the zip. Boot back to recovery. Good luck n let me know.
In the future post issues on my thread or pm me. Good luck

To use Fastboot you need to have adb working. Add the zip to your sdcard once you boot into the bootloader just follow the screen. To flash with Fastboot. Add the recovery.img to your adb folder. Code is
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

Man I wish I was quick enough. I experienced issues like you. All I needed to do is when I held the power button and got to the bootloader I went to fastboot and power down. I then got back in bootloader and then go into recovery. It seems that if you reboot to bootloader while the device is loading, recovery won't even start up. Just thought I'd share because you will probably run into this again.

Correction: adb and fastboot are not the same and not dependent on each other. One is used while the device is booted up (in either recovery or the OS), and the other one is exclusive to the bootloader. The drivers are also different.

I would start off by checking to make sure that you don't have SuperSU set to deny permission to root apps. When is the last time you updated your superuser binary with SuperSU?

well when I try to use SuperSU It tells me I have to update it either via normal or by TWRP or CWM I tried normal but I get an Installation failed. then I try TWRP or CWM but I really have no clue where to do it from there, I've looked around in it but honestly I have no clue.
And in regards to What type of error did you get while trying to flash with TWRP, I tap install then scroll down to the UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.85.zip, tap then swipe, then it says flashing file 1of 1 then it says FAIL in red. and that's about it.
