[Q] HTC EVO LTE strange root fail - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

So I spent the last two days trying re-root my phone after loosing root, and I kept getting a fail after fail in twrp, So after waking up this morning and installing two root checking apps and titanium backup even showed my phone was rooted, then a few hours later those apps showed my phone is not rooted. does anyone have any ideas of what is happening or how I can get rooted?
Yes I used all the latest SuperSU.

I would start off by checking to make sure that you don't have SuperSU set to deny permission to root apps. When is the last time you updated your superuser binary with SuperSU?
What type of error did you get while trying to flash with TWRP?

well when I try to use SuperSU It tells me I have to update it either via normal or by TWRP or CWM I tried normal but I get an Installation failed. then I try TWRP or CWM but I really have no clue where to do it from there, I've looked around in it but honestly I have no clue.
And in regards to What type of error did you get while trying to flash with TWRP, I tap install then scroll down to the UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.85.zip, tap then swipe, then it says flashing file 1of 1 then it says FAIL in red. and that's about it.
thanks for your reply,

No problem. Go to the "My Files" link in my sig, and go to the EVO LTE folder. There is a flashable su binary zip there. Download it and try flashing it in recovery. Also, what recovery & version are you using?

[Q] need help! 1.19 unlocked and rooted, still cant install anything

This is my first post so sorry if what I ask is stupid or something. I have searched everywhere and cannot find anything that is current enough to help me. I have hboot 1.19 and my software version is 2.13.651.1 710RD. I'm unlocked, rooted and also have TWRP recovery and I'm s-on. When I rooted my phone it also gave me SuperSU. I'm super lost now because I can't flash any ROMs to my phone. I've tried the charmeleon ROM and also the tranquility ROM but when TWRP is at the end of the Installing process it says that it failed and that there is no md5 or something like that.
what am I doing wrong?

Just disable MD5 check in TWRP, that should fix it. You do want to verify your MD5 matches in something like ES File Explorer. If you don't that will cause many other problems.

someone told me I need to flash the kernel separately but i have no idea how to do that...
Well yes but the Rom will still install without errors. Go to the TeamWin website and download it from there. Grab the zip and rename it and place it on your external sd and boot to bootloader. It will install and then reboot but if you don't have a working Rom remove the sd afterward otherwise you can get stuck in a loop. Do not place it on internal if you don't have a working Rom. The other ways to install would be to use goo manager to install or flash the recovery in fastboot

Alright i'll give this a try, but what zip am i supposed to download and rename? I already have the latest version of TWRP on my phone.
You can check the md5 using a file explorer. Longpress on file and select properties, then compare to where you downloaded the ROM from. If s-on, you'll have to pull the boot.IMG from the ROM zip and fastboot flash from cmd or use flash image GUI app from your phone if you can boot.
Also, I think the disable md5 check in TWRP is under settings.

Internal storage on my phone is fried - can't mount anything. PC doesn't find it. RUU is out of date or would possibly work. I'm using windows 7 and having a very scary ride because the phone won't show up with anything except the SD card - which would be awesome and let me flash the new CM10 - but unfortunately when I go to install it, I get "unable to mount SD card" as a perpetual error message. Even the 3.15 RUU is out of date, also, and though I went through the rooting process and unlocked the device thru HTC's website, I have version 3.16 and the RUU tells me to get the correct RUU and try again. I have to go to work now, if anybody else has been through the special hell I'm trying to deal with please post something, anything, to get my windows able to find my phone, or my drive (internal) to mount to the pc or anything! This looks like a brick (and I've never screwed anything up this bad before )
Boot to twrp and mount storage, then plug into computer. Windows will recognize that it's corrupt and give you the choice to format it.
I still have S-ON. *facepalm*
How can I achieve S-OFF status so that the ROM, which I more or less WAS able to flash using your advice, will be able to quit boot looping and actually work?
So much fail yesterday! that's what I get for trying to quit smoking.... :cyclops:

I have Ubuntu 64 bit lol. ****ing trolls killed my windows dreams. Got it about 40% booted earlier - said Android is Upgrading and ran through the apps, then died on me and never got that far again. I'm not 100% sure that S-ON is my only issue - this phone has had problems since day 1 power cycling and a few other strange issues, I'm probably going to just get a warranty replacement.

Got it done. Waited about a week or so to clear my head - then, starting with the unlock bootloader, I used dirtyracun to basically complete the whole process. Was missing a step on babyracun and it wasn't working because of that.

[Q] Can't get back to stock, worried I bricked my phone!

First off, I've gone through thread after thread hoping to find an answer, but simply have not.
I rooted my phone back in July and don't remember which method I used. I need to get my phone back to stock for warranty (I have a dead strip on my screen) and before I thought, I used SU to get back to S-On, but now I can't get back to stock.
I've tried to run various RUU's, more specifically regaw's version among others, but I haven't had any success. Every time I run an RUU it says that my phone is not connected to my computer. I've also downloaded the PJ75IMG and tried that method as well, but nothing happens.

Got the correct firmware, started the process no problem. Now I've got an Error [155]: Unknown and that's as far as it'll take me. I've tried multiple times, and nothing happens. When the phone is supposed to restart it just sits there as if nothing happened to it at all. The RUU instructed me to restart the phone and do the recovery through the program. Once through, it says that I should now try to start the RUU again. and the same thing happens. Am I missing something here?

Had to get a replacement evo, want older rom back

I was running the Fresh rom for nearly a year and was totally happy with it. I now have a new evo because of a screen failure. I rooted and S-offed it with dirtyracun and flashed rage. I still pretty much hate everything about JB and want my Fresh back. I have flashed the 2.13.651.1 firmware and tried to install the rom and get a false boot after step 2 of 6. I then have to boot into bootloader and reinstall the above rom again. Is there anything I can do to go back?
Anyone?

No problem. Have you verified MD5 on the download to make sure the download wasn't bad? Also, have you tried flashing a different ICS ROM? I can't think of any reason why you would be having these issues, other than not wiping correctly in recovery (system wipe, flash ROM & reboot).

Here's the version I've been using since I got the phone (2.2.2.0), has worked great for ICS and JB alike. Just rename this file to PJ75IMG.zip and put on the root of your external sd card, then reboot into the bootloader and it will install automatically. Remember to remove it afterwards or it will try to install again next time you enter the bootloader.

I am a newb with flashing and really don't mess with it. I was able to root my phone, but never flashed. Tried flashing elegancia and it kept rebooting to htc white screen. i then tried a recovery, but something wrong with boot and sd-ext
i am able to enter the fastboot and recovery, but lost on how to get my phone back to working
Jewel PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT 2.09.000
RADIO- 1.12.11.1210
OpenDSP -v31.1.0.45.0815
eMMC-boot
I have the SDK installed, but I am lost and need some help please.
Is that ROM even for the HTC EVO 4G LTE? Do you have a link for it? For the time being I suggest using the mount setting in recovery to put a ROM on your phone, do a full system wipe, then flash. I suggest MeanBean, as it has a S-on kernel installer to facilitate installation while S-on.

It doesn't work when i tried these steps. I don't understand which RUU I would need to get it back to stock. I relocked the phone and tried a few RUU, but get errors in the utility. Any other suggestions?
thanks in advance.
You need to unlock your bootloader again. There is no RUU for you to use. There is the VipeRUU tool, but it requires S-off to work. If you can get into recovery, you can get a ROM installed and flashed to get you up & running.

I am so out of luck.. I can't get out of the rebooting. sorry if really newb, but spent like 8 hours trying everything. I am not certain how to use the tool because can't get s off.
Can you do without the device for a few days? If so, shoot me a PM. I should be able to get you up & running again, and get you S-off, also.
One thing to try, though. When the phone is rebooting, hold down the volume down button. When the screen goes black it should boot into the bootloader. From there you can get into recovery. Follow the directions in my guide on how to fix the phone after a system wipe. The link is in my sig.

I got it to work now. Not sure what i did correcrtly. i flashed the meanbean.zip, but got erros with signature verify. Then i flashed the boot.img from that zip and reboot and viola. How do I know what I have on there..I am almost afraid to check. What shoud i do to make sure this does not happen again. I am confident to try a few things now, but still pretty green.

Well, for starters, don't flash ROM's that aren't for the EVO LTE.

You know, it's funny....I made a post about this very same thing this morning. Ironic...

[Solved] Cannot return to stock

I have HBOOT 2.09.00 and just flashed CM11 2 days ago. Then I decided I wanted to flash the phone to PagePlus but cannot because it needs to be Sense for HTC diagnostic mode to program it.
So I downloaded the RUU from here:
http://unlimited.io/downloads/dirtyracun/jewel/209/RUU.zip
I entered in linux:
fastboot oem lock
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot RUU
fastboot flash zip RUU.zip
then after about a minute it failed with this message:
FAILED (remote: 43 main version check fail)
So I've downloaded this file:
http://fs1.d-h.st/download/00021/3wS/jewel-3.15.651.6-rooted-odexed.zipand I tried to flash it in TWRP, but it started to install but then just rebooted. [ this twrp: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1675738 ]
So I tried philz CWM, and it gives me "error in /storage/sdcard0/sideload.zip (status 7) installation aborted"
I'm kinda stuck here, can someone help me get sense installed?
Hit the top link in my sig. Go to the last post and hit the link for the 3.17 RUU. Follow the instructions for the manual install. I believe you can also rename the file PJ75IMG.zip, place it on your SD card and update that way. If you're S-on you can't run a RUU older than what you're currently running.

thank you for the link!
I'm disappointed in HTC for not giving us the latest RUU files, I'm coming from a HTC Rezound and with that I didn't have anywhere near as much trouble today trying to figure it all out for the Evo 4G LTE. sigh..
well I'm downloading it [the 600MB exe] and also the HTC Sync manager, woot.. now I get to wait like 1 - 1.5 hours for it to download.
So much for trying to get this flashed to PagePlus today. that's definitely not going to happen, hopefully tomorrow though.

oh whoops.. for some reason I thought that you had to go through the HTC sync thing in order to restore it.. my bad.
I thought I read something that HTC would no longer provide RUUs, that's probably why I thought it.
still an hour left on the download though.
You must have really slow internet

Indeed.. it averaged 150KB/s and took nearly 2 hours for the ~650MB file. we have DSL [300KB/s max download speed] and it is shared between quite a few people here. lol
so it is installing the RUU on my phone now. first it failed, I think because it wasn't relocked. so I relocked it and now I'm waiting for it to finish.
edit: finished.. thanks again! I don't know why the link isn't on the wiki: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/HTC_Evo_4G_LTE
I was going to edit the wiki to add that RUU but apparently I can't edit it.
edit 2: I guess it was because I wasn't logged in??.. I dunno. it lets me edit now.
