Is there an AOSP for the Rezound where the camera (still and video) is "perfect"?
Many of the AOSP roms say video recording/playback is not perfect..
Looking to *never* have to go into the camera app and clear the db, etc..
Sense roms are great; just looking for an almost perfect AOSP rom..
Suggestions?
CM9 based ROMs are perfect on cameras.

AFAIK: Corrupted files produced from camcorder occasionally
As was said, CM9 ROMs are very good. I've been running CounterShrike since December and it's been excellent.

Unfortunately I've found at least three flaws with what I thought was a 100 ROM . cm9 and all aosp builds suffer from noise feedback on calls, apparently bluetooth calling doesn't work and 1080p recording is not yet available

Yea,
Sense roms are still where she is..
Sun dreams rom is what we are running these days..
Camera, phone, LTE all working..
She had a problem one time.. Boot looping was the result..
I never heard the end of it..

Bunch of stuff going on with CM10.1 now thanks to Flyhalf. Cameras are totally fixed, 1080p video recording is working, and the video playback glitches are gone. Anything built in the last 2 or 3 days has those changes. He just pushed some new video drivers as well. I haven't built with them yet, but hopefully they smooth out the interface and graphics. Bluetooth has always worked on CM10.1/4.2.x for us.
MHL is probably never going to work on AOSP, but that's basically all we're down to.
Yep I think I'm going to go back to CM10 now that all the video problems have been corrected. I used CM10 for about a week but discovered that I streamed videos more than I thought and it was unusable for me. Now that all of my concerns are fixed, CM10 we go!

We over at the Atrix 4G forums don't have a working camera in our ICS Alpha, either. It's okay, though... it's not like I used my phone camera ever, that's what my wife's is for.
Our Alpha was kind of rushed, as well, but turned out pretty good. We still don't have hardware acceleration... though some of us, including myself, have rigged things together to get us through *some* of the games with minimal complications. We're still working on it, and haven't had a true update to the ROM in a while, but like anything that's worthwhile it'll take time.
My point being? Thank you everyone that's contributed to this project, I'm sure all of us appreciate what you've done to make this such a great platform.
To be honest I don't care about the camera and I don't think many people will. It's a terrible camera even for video chat, I'd rather just use my phone.
Video playback is a pretty essential thing though, so it's good that it's nearly finished and will be done when it's released. Even if it's really buggy like the first CM7 alpha this will still be a great release.
No Working Camera
I do care, because I am using skype with video mode on.
And this is the main reason why I keep WebOS running most of the time (except better battery performance).
This is not a complain! Just a remark. I'm really happy with my TP!!!
Thanks for all the work of the developers.
this is great news...even tho it sometimes bother me that camera doest work, but having dual boot solves that as i use webOS when i have to use skype with video....
I would love to ICS update without camera...damn cant wait...

Simply put, because he doesn't want to. That's about the gist of it.
He's an amazing developer...I'm sure he wants to put out a good product with the initial release.
if you are excited then show it dude...why do u want to close it? u can ignore it...and we all are discussing the latest update the OP got from the devs....
may be, they are not releasing Alpha becoz many people brick their devices and blame CM team..they must be waiting to make it as easy and safe for everyone to use it...

I'm working towards having a build with working hw OMX ready for the weekend. Camera would be the only major lacking feature.

CM9 is a fork of the android 4.0.3 operating system. So yes, it's ICS, derived from AOSP, with no Sense UI garbage.
http://bit.ly/zAuapn
This is probably the most exciting news I've seen on here in a while. Now the real question is, is CM9 for the amaze coming out before HTC send out their ics update for us? I'd be curious to see what HTC does for us, but if it comes out after CM9, then there's no way I'd even think of trying it out.
Very Nice... Just came from the Evo3D on Sprint... Looking forward to this.
Thanks for this post. I've been pretty infrequent here lately due to the lack of S-OFF and all of the variations of Sense based ROMs and all the ICS-themed ones. I looked for xboarder's ICS ROM thread a while back but that looks like it was deleted so i thought there was no more progress. Faith has been restored!
This is pretty awesome. Cant wait to give it a shot.

This would be interesting, assuming CM9 is stable, I would definitely use it as a daily, even without a camera/BT/NFC/etc. However, I can imagine that the official release will be running on a 3.x kernel, as where I'm SURE that Max is using a 2.6.x kernel right now.... This all being said, I'm sure having the kernel source to the official release when available will help bring a 3.x kernel to the Amaze.
TL;DR
Assuming it's stable on a 2.6.x kernel, and most things work, I'd stick with CM9 regardless.
If it's (CM9) lacking a ton of hardware features, I could see running the HTC build till CM9 hardware support catches up.
Also, a CM9 alpha WILL be available before HTC releases/leaks anything, that is almost guaranteed.
I've been hearing a lot about my aging YP-G70 and its ICS camera fix. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to be able to play Ingress (JUST GOT MY ACCESS CODE!) but I don't want to revert to Gingerbread again. I'm still confused about the progress being made here though. JackPot apparently fixed front cam, but was this released? Also, is the choppy back cam fix released too? Never knew about the front camera fix. Its probably only on his own ROM as he has also got HW working on his ROM but not released it. Don't think there's a fix for the choppy back camera thing. The devs may have been secretly chatting via PM to make the back work for ICS but who knows? I've also wanted Ingress, looks great.

The cm10.1 camera software is pretty noisy compared to the stock htc camera software on the phone.Quality is noticeable. The audio quality was very noticeable as well. There was distortion playing songs that didn't distort using beats audio. The app that comes with cm10.1 for audio cannot get the sound close to the way it did out of the box. I switched back to an HTC sense rom. Non of the paid camera apps in google play could come close to the htc tweaked camera that came with the phone.
Hoping for better roms. I'm currently on trickdroid with htc sense 5 and android 4.2.2 but even that is limited in terms of customize ability. It's just not clean. I'm waiting for the HTC one Google edition ROM.

i see. i noticed the difference from the stock with cm10.1. i love the customizations on cm10.1 but love the camera on the stock. thanks for input.
The Sense 5 camera is very nice, unfortunately, as mentioned above and agreed by everyone here on the subforums, the picture quality with the CM 10.1 camera suffers a lot, its just not optimized for the 4 UP camera on this phone. Image quality, sharpness and ability to do special functions like panorama suffer a lot. I'm not even sure HDR does what it's supposed to do.
I'm hoping once the GE rom is made available the camera and audio functions will be improved, even if it means switching to a different rom. I'd rather not as I like the simplicity of CM.

Just another reason to stay sense based I guess. Dang. Not saying I don't understand the appeal of AOSP but still, with so much comprimization (camera, burst mode, the superior controls of the htc camera, ir blaster, beats audio), especially considering how solid sense has been since sense 4, It surprises me how many people would still prefer to run AOSP.

That's true, I tried both and I like both. I have been sticking with sense, but their are some features that I like about aosp, because of that I am on sentinel rom which is sense but it kind of hybrid because it has certain features that are in aosp for an example is the quick setting ans pie control. You should definitively check it out and it also is ridiculously fast and amazing with battery life.
