Apps that can be greenified savely - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I would like to start a list of which Apps can be greenified without losing funktionality.
For instance Dropbox. Can it be greenified without losing instant photo upload?
Or facebook. Can i greenify the app and recieve notifications in facebook messenger?

Let me start you off
If you greenify an app you will lose notifications
You can't greenify system apps
The app will greenify a short time after you turn off the screen.

You can't greenify any app that works while the screen is off. So as stated above. No notifications, no background updates while the screen is off. Pretty much you kill any usefulness of any app unless the screen is on.

Ok i see. I guess there is no need for my Topic then.

Different Volume notifications and ringer

I think its possible to use the sg3 with Different notifications and Ringer Volume.
It seems that This problem here http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=23202 isnt more actual.
I am asking because i am using the app llama. And i want to make profiles.

Why does autocorrect turn off sometimes on Swiftkey 3?

Say if I'm typing in SMS, and then I press homebutton to go to another app, and then go back to SMS (maybe 10 minutes later), the autocorrect is turned off (there are no bars above the keyboar). Then I have to press home again and then go back to the SMS, to get it working.
Is this a Swiftkey 3 problem or an OS problem?
I'm running the latest Hydra.

I just found out that pressing the menu button and then tapping back on the text restores the autocorrect.
I don't know why it does that...

Notification limit

Hallo citizens of xda.
It is getting annoying to be using whatsapp and having the phone vibrating for 2 minutes continuously. Is there any app that could limit the notification amount per minute?

[MOD][XPOSED][4.0+] Hangouts In Ringer Stream

Hangouts in Ringer Stream - Changes Hangouts audio stream of notifications from 'notification' to 'ringer'
================
Description:
I took the Xposed Mod originally made by @OXINARF (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2330473) and changed it to work with the Hangouts app, because many of us prefer to use Hangouts as default SMS/MMS app. All credit goes to him.
The default Hangouts app has no option to set volume level for notifications and it uses the level set by the system to all notifications. I prefer to have it use the same level as the ringer so I made this mod to do it. This way I can have a low sound level for notifications, and a high sound level for ringer and hear not only incoming calls but also Hangouts messages.
Instructions:
You need Xposed framework for it to work. Instructions are here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401
Just install the apk, enable the mod in the framework and reboot your device.
Supported Devices:
This should work on all devices running Android 4.0+.
Note:
This only works in default Hangouts app, other apps won't work.

Working for me. Nice job! Can you do the same thing for whatsapp in notification stream? It currently uses the ringer stream and since I get too many messages I'd like to silence them without sacrificing in ringer volume.
Thanks!

Try this. Go to whatsapp settings in android settings and disable notifications. Try sending a message. You can still hear the tone. Which means that they aren't using the notification stream.

You mean the in-app sounds?
They can be disabled, or are they important for you?

How about making an app that can change or set volume for all apps separatly?
Work like This:
add an app in it and set volume for that app
add facebook and set volume to 100%
add whatsapp and set volume to 60%
...
maybe an option to change notification sound for every apps too
.
is this possible at all?

Sounds good, i don't know atm if it's possible cause different apps are using different methods for audio output, then I must ad an ui for that, I will see if I can handle that and inform you later.

Can you PLEASE do a similar tweak to redirect facebook messenger notifications to the notification stream? Now it uses the ringer stream and it's annoying as ****!

Could this be used as a basis for a mod that will turn on our off vibration for Hangouts notifications?

Could you explain what you mean? I don't get it.

Well, this mod clearly manipulates something. Either the system or the Hangouts app.
I'm looking for a way to use Tasker for turning on/off vibration for Hangouts alerts.
Right now, I have to use the settings menu inside Hangouts for each account to toggle vibration.
Thanks for your work on this. Can you figure out a way to get "in call" notification while using hangouts? Ive tried sms popup to no avail - thought maybe you could help. Thank you
Same here , I've tried also Lightflow , but it does not give a notification sound when you receive a sms during a call.
If you can do that with your module that would be awesome!
Thanks

Sorry for telling you but the feature you request is implemented by Rom and not by the app, the hangouts module just changes the way the app notifies the phone. I am not the right man for that.

Thanks. I hope samsung will add this feature on next update so I won't need root.

Happy to report this works quite well! I used Wanam to add a bunch of apps to the Multiwindow bar and all of them seem to work just fine in windowed or 4-way mode!
Thank you!!

Just great. Thanks for this great tool thanked at dev thread as well.
I used Aeons tool MultiWindow Apps Manger to add apps.

The Apps Manager does not work with the Clean ROM 2.0 FYI. It allows me to go thru the setup of adding apps to the multi-window sidebar but they don't take after a reboot. Sucks.

You have to hit the 'save' icon on the top right corner prior to reboot...it looks like a floppy disk. Did you do that first? Then after reboot, you still have to add them to the side bar by scrolling to the bottom of the side bar, touching the pixelated triangle & choosing edit to add the apps to the sidebar. The previous steps only make the 'available', the last step actually adds them to multiwindow. I hope that helps!
I haven't tested the app much but I ran into a problem... The blue dot pops up whenever I resize the windows by moving it, and it will not go away no matter how many times I click on it again. It takes around 5th seconds for it to disappear on its own after I stop touching it, but the menu pops up again every time I move a window

Duuuuuhhhh, I didn't edit the multi-window dock to add the apps after the reboot, I thought that was done as part of the procedure. Thanks BigBroham!!!! :good:
This is a great feature and maybe I am missing something but I wanted to ask my fellow 10.1 2014 owners a question....with the previous Note 10.1 you could split the windows and the functionality was a ton better. For instance, I could make the top half Kindle (with a textbook loaded on it) and the bottom half S-Note. When reading my text, if I found a passage to notate, I would circle it with my S-Pen and drag it down to S-Note where I could furhter notate the "quoted' text.
If I try this with a 10.1 2014, it no longer works - at least not that I can figure out. When you circle text it pops up but you can't do much with it. The only thing a 2014 seems to allow is dragging it onto a select set of apps that open up from the bottom tray. With the 2014, I can circle a passage, drag it to one of those apps (which then open with the selection showing) BUT if I try to do that a second time with the app that just opened, it won't work.
Has anyone else been frustrated by this 'removal' of functionality? Is there a fix?
How does this work. After I install the app and reboot. What do I do afterwards

Just open the MultiWindows Bar and choose your apps, like you normally do. But now you can run up to 4 apps. Or in floating mode.
