[Q] Broken camera screen - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Helloo,
So a few months ago my mother dropped my phone, the screen of the camera was shattered. I removed all the shards. But ever since my camera became dirtier and dirtier. Now there are spots all over my camera and I can't make any clear photo's. I tried to blow it out and someone at a telecom shop tried to do it with some tools but it didn't work.
But now I need to replace the little screen because my phone needs to be repaired (the well known insane chip, SDS etc.) I am afraid that if they see that the screen is missing they'll void my warranty.
First of all, can i easy put another screen on it and where can I get one? A little extra, but not necessarily, how to get the little spots of the lens?
Very very thanks
Thijs

watch a disassembly video on youtube

Thanks. Do I get my warranty back if I fix it?

Dust Under Screen?!

I dont know why it is with these newer model phones, but just from the suggestion posts that came up when i entered the title of this thread, but My LGOT and i guess even the G2 have an issue where dusts starts to build up under the sceen....
Ive only had my phone for a little over 2 weeks, but even after the first couple days, i noticed that there were already a few trickles of dirt right around the middle of my screen.
I guess my main question is, is there anything i can do about this, has anyone had the same troubles, and what can we do to prevent this from happening?
In Thailand this is general problem of LG Optimus One
you should contact LG Customer support
they'll open your phone and blow dust out
if dust cause touchscreen malfunction they'll change new one for you
some people guess that dust already in the phone due to assembly process from factory
some guess maybe dust go through usb port
I have my phone since 2 days and i already have a dust spot in the lower right corner. This is annoying! If this spot is growing i will contact the costumer support.

I am working on dusty area, but no dust under screen. Phone is 1 month old.
Me I have not this problem, but remains me the same issue with the iPhone 2/3 (google iphone dust screen).
I think it's a common problem with capacitive screen, but no "easy" solutions to fix it...
poor construction quality, imho.

this is one of those instances where a really cheap phone shows its faults. the phone is free on contract and little of $200 without. with it being so incredibly cheap, there is going to be something wrong that causes concern.
Im okay with it happening as long as it gets fixed and the problem is acknowledged by both LG and the phone carriers. it seems like many people are having this problem at the moment and T-Mobile is willing to exchange it in store, so good on them for being considerate.
i have the same issue. Don't know how to prevent that

Same Here! Very annoying because the phone is less than one week old!
I actually have not this problem my device is now over 2 weeks old. Maybe it depends on the area you are or temp.? ect...

No dust here either. I have a silicon case, I don't think it helps very much.
just disassemble it. There is no warranty seal. You'll find the dust inbetween the lcd screen and the capacitive overlay.

Hi! please tell us how to do it!
I too have this problem Can any one please let us know how to get rid of it.
I have the same problem with my Optimus One, dust is starting to gather on the right bottom corner and it seems to have increased since the first time I saw it. I've thought about buying a can of compressed air and trying to blow it near the edge of the screen but maybe that will just make it spread even further.
I've also thought about unscrewing the screws on the back panel of the phone and clean it but I'm afraid that it will affect the capacitive screen in some way making it less responsive and that after I assemble it back together it'll become even less air tight and thus accumulate even more dust.
Maybe I'll reclaim my warranty but I'll have to un-root my phone and wipe it clean before leaving it at the store and it's going to be a pain in the ass to reinstall everything when it returns.
Will they replace the mobile for this problem?
You can back up everything by titanium backup and copy the titanium backup folder from sd to your pc or pen drive. In your newly replaced phone you can copy back this folder to sd card and after installing titanium backup application you can restore everything.

[Q] Flash problem

Hello all. I just register to this site and i need help about my mobile. So heres what happened. I bought S2 1 year ago, but i scratched camera lens and i went to service and a guy order me back side of phone. So hr changed mine back (only camera) and after taking shoots i noticed that without flash image is great, but when i turn on flash, its so bright. I tried other scenes, but its still same. Here is comparation with flash and without it.
I hope you can help me. Thanks!

Yeah...you said it yourself, it's the case.
Remove it & try again.
Sent from the little guy
Well its the same. Case dont cover camera, just around it.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
It's the flash, not the camera.
Sent from the little guy
It's clearly an issue with the flash itself and/or the sensor in the camera. Take it back to whomever attempted to fix it for you & tell them to fix it properly this time. Maybe a flash used from a different SGS2 variant ?? (just a wild stab in the dark). The flash is obviously putting out too much light & causing overexposure. Unless the sensor is on the fritz.
Do you have scratch guard on your lens? That might cause distortion of image try removing it.

Cracked Screen

Hey guys,
Sorry if there is already a thread for this but I've looked all over and haven't found anything.
So, the other day, I was sitting in my high school cafeteria, with my LGOG in the back pocket of my jeans; screen facing towards me in a thick, silicone and hard plastic case (similar to an otterbox but a cheaper brand from amazon). I adjusted my seating position, felt a crunch, and took out my phone which then had literally hundreds of cracks all over the screen. The touch sensor is completely unresponsive but I can turn the screen on and off, adjust volume, hold to reboot, and while rebooting hold volume up for cwm recovery and fully manipulate that with volume and power buttons. I was prepared to order a replacement glass panel/digitizer but then realized that it did not beep at the appropriate level when changing the volume on the lock screen.
So after that lengthy scene setting, here are my two questions.
1. Is my warranty completely void do to rooting or is just software warranty if there us such a thing?
2. If my warranty is not void, would thus be covered since it was not dropped?
3. Would that last detail of the volume adjustment recognition sound not playing be indication to a more severe inner problem from the incident that a new digitizer would not fix?
Thank you for your time and sorry for the wordy posting.

You know , you can always flash your phone back to manufacturer's stock rom , without any root access and locked BL.(Just like as if it was brand new.)
Simply LGNPST , the Stock ROM on your phone. And then I don't think they'll come to know about it. This way you can avoid any chances of your phone's warranty being damaged by any alternation in software not allowed by manufacturer.
A broken screen is not covered under warranty, doesn't matter if you dropped it, drove over it, sat on it or it spontaneously combust. Insurance is an option if you have it but the deductible will likely be higher than just replacing the screen.

As you may or may not know the touchscreen and display are one piece in this phone to achieve enhanced responsiveness so the price for a repair kit should be a bit more expensive than normal touchscreens or displays separately, so be prepared. As our fellow member stated before it will not be covered by standard warranty. Best regards!

I have the best buy insurance and have replaced my phone twice due to the glass on the back getting cracked. I didn't unroot. They asked no questions. No deductible.

I think rooting only voids your warranty , if the phone started having hardware problems with the underlying cause being the software part involved in it. Like a phone in boot-loop which you are not able to recover from , etc.
I don't think a broken glass at back or front has anything to do with it , unless one goes full retard and overclock his phone to a temp. where the heat build-up causes an issue.
Apparently , rooting or unlocking does voids warranty , but no one performs a check usually if the problem is like what I mentioned above.

- = Help me fix my Broken Screen! = -

Hi everyone. Thanks already for having a look!
So I dropped my i9300 on my carpet, while i was taking it out of the case that I usually have it in ... and now my display doesn't work anymore
I still get my notifications beeps and emails are coming in, the buttons light but but my screen is dark (I see two fainted lines sometimes)
I see it is cracked on the inside but the glass is fine from the outside (really odd).
I am not sure if that's called a digitizer or LED pane or whatnot but maybe you can help me. Where would i get that part and how i could do that myself. All the tutorials i could find were for cracked screens (where the glass is busted)
Thank you very much in advance for the help!!
Sounds to me tat its just the beneath of the glass since the digitizer and all is in one piece. Not sure though. I think it is btr for u to just bring it to a repair shop.

Firstly try to clean the screen without any stain or greases...
Try to tweak the sensitivity by changing the figure in /system/usr/idc/max1187x_touchscreen_0.idc (touch.filter.level = 5)...
Try to play around to get the best for ur device...
BTW white water marks due to water damage device??

This device has no water damage, that's what i wanted to say . Because of touch.filter.level: Sorry that i didn't sayed that i already tryed this whith best results @ 7, which is too high for a pen input, but the device doesn't go crazy that often.
Yesterday i've seen that you can fix this on Nexus 4 by reisolating a cable. If this is the case on ZU i'm gonna send it in for Warranty.

Better just send back to Sony...
I'm facing similar problems with my ZU =/
After I've tried to replace a protective skin for my display, the phone started to present ghost touching. I mean, a LOT of ghost touching. As my warranty expired a few months ago, I sent the phone to a private maintenance and now they want to replace the whole screen.
Do you think I'll have to replace the screen or maybe there's a way out of this? Here in Brazil, replacing the screen can be as expansive as buying a new phone (and I must confess that I'm tempted to forget about my Z Ultra and buy a Z2), so if I could fix this in some another way... well, that would be terrific.
Thanks in advance!

maybe this will help. Its the Fix i found for the Nexus 7
I started to have a lot of that Phantom touches after taking off my aftermarket screen protector. **** was so annoying. I still have the anti shatter film but don't want to mess with that crap so I installed another screen protector and everything is normal again.
It has been 1 month since installing the new screen protector and no ghost touches.

Well... I must confess that the idea of installing a new screen protector never occurred to me
I guess this could worth the shot, actually. Anyway, I've ordered a new display (got a really good price... way way cheaper than the official maintenance was charging), so if the new screen protector won't work out, I'll proceed to replace the whole display.
