You must install driver first.

Install kies then kill kies procces and open odin and thats it a dnt forget about to thick debug
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium

First install drivers.
Check Usb debugging in dev options
Third try a different usb port.
Restart your computer.
Connect your phone on download mode when Odin is open.
Cheers!!!

install kies and the driver. If it still doesn't, do the usb trouble shoot a few times

Is USB-debugging on(it's on by default)? If so, turn it off...
i have the same problem
Odin on my laptop cant see my GS2, but my desktop can
i'm guessing it's a driver thing
Install/ reinstall Kies, try connecting to kies 1st.. if it works, then Odin should work.. if not see under Computer>properties>device manager what drivers (radio) are not installed.. install them.. now it will connect.. i assume you have tried 1st as recommend in 1st reply

Phone not booting up

Hey people I am in a kind of panic situation my phone is showing
A phone and a computer sign is coming when I switch on my phone
I have tryed flashing in some other firmware thro ODIN but it says failed ...
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Open kies if you have it installed, then plug your phone and turn it on, it will try to fix it.
Second option, kill kies completely, get a stock GB ROM download using checkfus or Sammobile and flash using Odin.
Download the stock ROM again, what you have now might be corrupt.

And youvare in download mode when flashing with odin, right?
Sent from my sgs2 running cm9
Yes i m in download mode but doin gets stuck in one point can't proceed proceed after this error msg "establishing connection"..
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Did you install the Samsung USB Driver? I hope you are using Windows...
are you stuck in setup connection............
if yes uninstall Kies
try the following if you are stuck on kies
1. run odin as administrator.
2.try using different usb ports.
3. uninstall kies and use the samsung drivers alone.

yes i can enter to recovery... and when phone conected to pc,pc is not detect.......any idea??????????
if u have usb jig if not then buy from ebay. then try to enter download mode after that things things will be easy
or as u said u can access recovery ,download cm9 then copy to sdcard using mount and storage option in recovery and flash it
when you connect your phone to pc in download mode, does windows detect it?
Did you even install the Samsung mobile USB drivers?
Mod Edit: In english please or with a translation attached...
OK I'm very sorry about this, mod.. I was so lazy to read details of rules & i was meaning a too early shortcut way to my native friend...
@Badung : I think your problem is easy if u really can enter either recovery and/or download mode. Just flash it with official ROM by Intratech Odin 3 v.1.85 or custom ROM via cwm. I guess it couldn't detected by your PC coz u use wrong & mismatch Odin version. That ver I suggested was an easy match to gs2. U can contact me by whatsapp at 0896-3167-8254. I'm also an indonesian. Maximize your 'search' feature in XDA. Good luck!

You need to install Kies as it comes with necessary drivers! You dont need to reinstall your OS...

1. Download this
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html
2. Run USBDeview, find all devices related to Samsung and uninstall it.
3. Install Samsung USB Drivers
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1655286
4. Run ODIN first, get your phone into download mode and then connect it to your PC.
5. At the driver installation dialog, click on "Skip obtaining drivers from windows update".
Hope it helps.

[Q] S2 does nothing

Hi guys.. well heres my problem, i had an s2 9100t i rooted it and flash a custom ROM i dont like to much so i try flashing another ROM the second time, odin get stuck and installation failed, now the phone only shows "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies & try agian" i tried to get it into download mode with the buttons and with a friend´s usb jig but the phone didn´t show anything different i tried connectingto pc neither kies or odin recognize the device. i try get into recovery mode with the buttons command and nothing it only shows the message and an image with a computer and a cellphone.
When u go to download mode this brings the same screen, right?!
Did u try to connect it anyway to PC and see if odin recognized it?
If yes u can just download another firmware and flash this.
PS: u said u have a i9100t version so always be careful that u not using a standard I9100 version!

okay, try this:
Uninstall kies, re-install kies, close all kies applications, download odin (2 or 3 versions, latest and previous).
Remove the battery, make sure it's got juice, wait for a couple of min, re instert it, plug your device to the PC. Try to get to download mode.
If non of the above works, try usb jig.
You are welcome to repeat the process again.

1) try with Diff version of ODIN ( 1.85 or 3.04)
2) on a diff windows ( Xp or win7)
3)if on win7 then try running 'Odin' with 'Administrative rights' and see.
4)check with windows Task manager and see if any Kies process are running, if so kill them all and then try.

I just tried 3 versions of odin (1.85/3.04/3.07)
Still a no go
still need help...phone just wont get recognised by my pc...
Have you thought about how to borrow s2 if you have the chance. Then it attempts to connect to Kies and see what happens. Kies should install drivers or just recognize it. After that need you to disconnect the mobile phone from the PC. Shut Kies. Put your phone into download mode. Turn Odin on PC. Connect the mobile phone with PC and seen whether it recognized. After that, put your phone into download mode and connect it to Odin.
