[Q] Why...??? - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm currently running TwistedUmbrella's rom dated 01-13-2013. Recently, I am experiencing re-boots when attempting to search apps on the newest version of Google Play...This is the only place I am experiencing the re-boot. I have rebooted into recovery (Teamwin) and run 'Fix Permissions' with no luck....Any ideas to help me solve this issue??

There's another issue that is causing the issue you're experiencing.

What's Next???
Ok....I can accept that there maybe another issue to resolve, but what steps would I take begin my troubleshooting
??

Use an older version of the rom. The reboots were less frequent for most on the older versions and nonexistent for some.

You go into settings and advance and uncheck one of the checked boxes. Tile or title rendering, maybe it was?
But should stop the reboots.

The reboots are caused by the ramdisks being misaligned. Changing the rendering method will do nothing most likely but you never know.

I had this problem on some builds of roms that have since been removed from the forums. Haven't had it on Santod's DeSense

That's because the roms that were removed also had misaligned ramdisks

Can't update prl or profile, phone reboots

I have tried, on several occasions, to update both. My phone will get to the screen saying it is checking for updates, then it will reboot. Anyone else have this issue, is there a way to fix it?
Thank you in advance,

Never had this issue on any of my phones, sorry :/

This is the first one I've had issues with, could it be the phone itself? I've had random restarts before, and had removed/replaced the battery as recommended in another thread, but still have problems.

You might want to try to flash the update here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1202666
Or you can flash this 45.2.5 here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1212824
and then try the manual update again to get you up to date?
I'm running 45.3.5, is that maybe the issue?

Continuous reboots all of a sudden

I'm on NRG's ROM. All of a sudden yesterday, my phone just starting rebooting itself. I've been using his ROM for a while now and it never happened. I have the logcat. Can someone tell me what the hell is happening?
I already superwiped and flashed a clean ROM. I didn't add tweaks or install any apps and it still happens. Really pissing me off.
Could be hardware. Revert back to stock for 24hrs. If it revolts again then it could be hardware related....it could also be battery related.
X told me I had to fix permissions. I just did that so I will see if it happens. I hope not lol.
About 2/3 of the way down the logcat you have all kinds of system errors... Idk what they mean, but look legible to anyone who knows what they're looking at

There were a TON of unkown permissions toward the top of logcat

You can try pulling a last_kmsg and post it in fauxs thread and see if he can tell u anything

So far, I have no issues since I fixed the permissions. Thank God.
This exact thing happend to me. Oddly it persisted through 3 different Roms including stock but once I fixed permissions everything was great

Issues with AOSP

Hey guys, my phone is Hboot 1.50 and s-off, but it seems like my phone eventually locks up with most AOSP/AOSP based roms I tried. Anyone know what's going on? Sense is cool but i would like to run a stable AOSP and/or MIUI sometimes.

What do you mean by locks up?
Freezes and crashes or fails?
Freezes, then ill have to do a battery pull.

And, judging from your HBoot, it's a CDMA phone. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Have you tried an AOSP feel ROM?
Maybe it has something to do with you running too much on the phone which is causing it to crash.
I've never really seen this problem before.
It's CDMA. What's an AOSP feel Rom? A "de-sensed" rom? It may not matter if I am or not. Last freeze I had was with CM7 and I didn't even install anything. I don't have much issues with Sense roms but I don't want to stay stuck with Sense.

Yes, an AOSP feel ROM is when the ROM is really a Sense ROM, but it doesn't install Sense, instead, it installs a launcher, usually NOVA Launcher.
I'm not very familiar with the CDMA section, but there should be a few..
Also, did you experience any random Force Closes with your AOSP ROMs? Such as a Random system app? Also, did it usually freeze when you were using it, or when it was just lying around or in your pocket?
CM7 froze after I tried to turn the screen off. The other roms froze while using it I think.

Stock Kernel?
Could be an overheating issue?
I don't flash kernels a lot. Only 2-3 tines I've flashed one. At least most issues were probably with the included kernel. Tried CM9 today, ran well until it froze.

Did you flash the kernel and all the most recent firmware/radios for the ROM? That could be the issue.
Never flashed a radio or anything before. How do I go about doing that?

Each ROM has the radios included. If you're S-OFF, you just download it, rename it to what the Dev said (usually they come prenamed) and then put it in the root of your SD Card.
Once you're done that, just reboot your phone into the bootloader (Power and Volume Up) and it'll automatically scan for the files and install them.
It's not hard to do. Just make sure you flash the right ones for your phone and all should be well.
However, you shouldn't really need to flash the radio unless you experience problems with it..

Tmo GS3 gapps crashing.

I have been having this issue ever since I flashed a custom kernel. It will happen at random. I am running on stock android with my voltages at stock. Could it be caused by the kernel or root? Couldn't find any other reports of the issue.

Only app that is still crashing is Facebook when I perform a status update. Tapatalk used to crash but they rolled an update out to fix it.

Stuck at HTC boot screen with Santod's ICS Rom

Hello everybody. I'm trying to flash the Santod's version of ICS OTA Rom and Im stuck at the HTC boot up white screen I tried the odex version (556.4MB) and the debloat version (376.8MB) and with none of them have any luck I cant get passed beyond the bootup screen. I'm using 4EXT recovery to flash the Roms I also updated the Radios with the OTA ICS radios. Does anybody is facing same problem?
He posted a file to flash if you was caught in a boot loop. Might want to head over to that thread.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
Correct, I posted a flashable zip to apply to either Odex rom.
I am in the process of uploading complete Odex roms, so no patch file is needed.
Thanks I will try that

After the rocky start with the boot loops finally Installed the santod's trimmed version with the fixed kernell after that WiFi camera mms etc was working as supposed to be but everything on the phone suddenly come to a crawl status it was super slow even loading Google on the stock browser and reluctantly I had to go back to GB.
I like the ROM very much but the speed was the deal breaker. Is there any way to speed things up?

I already registered on the infectedrom forum. Can you recomend me one because I tried nusenseX Rom reborn and I had to go back to GB again because it was very sluggish and the camera didn't work.
