Hey guys, just wondering if it'd be possible (or already is available) to be able to get the Sense 5.0 messaging app onto other devices like the GS4 or GS3? I absolutely love the way it looks, especially compared to the meh TouchWiz messaging app interface.
Let me know if it's possible, in the works, or cannot be done.
Thanks, everyone.

I seriously doubt it. I would wager that the Sense 5 messaging app pulls assets from the Sense framework, meaning it's not all wrapped up in the messaging APK. But hey, I could be wrong.

Ahh, if that is true, it does indeed suck! Is there any developer out there willing to mirror it's appearance? I mean, it's so darn good looking!
It's apps in the play store that has a theme of it. Not sense 5 tho.. More like Sense 4

Do you know if this app includes Group Messaging A La iPhone? I know Verizon phones seems to have that built in, but not ATT ones. At least the ones I've used.

Yeah there's an option to turn group messaging on in the settings of the messaging app.

Ya, was wondering if someone will come out with an app to mirror Sense 5's Messaging. Going to be hard to live without it ^^
Sense 5 messaging app is truly gorgeous. Too bad there is no quick reply. Miss Bitesms on my iPhone. Could tap on the notification and a quick reply box would pop up. I would use chompsms which is made by the same developers as Bitesms but the sense 5 messaging app is to elegant to pass up. Needs to be a app that gives you notifications like notifier pro plus but let's you tap the notification to quick reply.

Try this app. Used to use it on CM before QR was built in.

Only thing I don't like is it's sort of incompatible with groupmessages lol

check out GOSMS Pro. it has group messagin, great MMS support, and quick reply and pop up notifications. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jb.gosms&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd
Will those other messaging apps may be nice, I am looking for one that mirrors the Sense 5.0 Messaging App. Hopefully someone has a copy in the works. I really, really want it.
Yea I really do wish there was a way to use the Sense 5 messaging app but including a Quick Reply / Quick Compose feature.

Does the note have a text messaging app similar to iphone? I like how my wife's iphone has all the text pop up on her screen when it is locked. Does android have a similar setup? The iphone can pop up multiple text if they are not viewed right away. Thank you. I have never had a smartphone so don't know what android has to offer.
Just go to market and look at it. They're all like **** load of apps like that.

But does it come with a stock app like that like the iphone has? I had a smartphone for about 2 weeks last year and found out that alot of apps don't always work properly.
Handcent in the market works pretty much perfectly doing what you want. The advantage of android over IOS is that if you don't like a stock application, odds are someone has written and published one that does what you want.

handcent also. It actually has a setting called iphone lol!
Get Go SMS Pro from the Android Market. Within this app there is an iPhone Theme. You can even tweak the settings to enable a pop-up or in the Notification Bar.

Or if you just want the pop up you can download SMS Pop Up
Check out iphone notifications
I've settled on Handcent for now, but I've been wondering what some of you guys are using. I've tried a couple others, but Handcent just seems fluid and is constantly updated and supported. Lots of themes and tools to utilize, if that's your thing.
Also, in addition to what SMS app you're using, is there an SMS app that will allow "reply to all" natively? I get group texts from iPhone users and when I reply it only goes to the person that sent the message to me.

I've been using Handcent since I moved to Android(always had dumb phones before)roughly three years ago. I like the set up,customizations and how smooth it operates. I also like that the app has strong support, although I'm sure that they all do.

Since I started with Swiftkey for a keyboard app, I NEVER could go back to stock on any phone (or tablet) - It ruined me for anything less!
And there are some stock SMS apps I like and have used. In fact I like the one on the OG and I seriously considered sticking with it, but I switched to Handscent for purely vanity reasons. I like to put a "signature" on my texts and the stock SMS won't let me do that. I do use the stock e-mail app, however!
+1 for SMS Popup. Also the Cyanogenmod version of the stock keyboard since it has a dark theme. Haven't tried it on the LGOG yet because I haven't gotten mine, but I imagine it will work.
Well, since the stock app has a reply to all feature, I'm just running that now. Handcent had some cool stuff, but all these group texts are killing me.
I can't believe Handcent doesn't have reply to all at this point.
Sent from my LG Optimus G
I've used Swiftkey and Hancent before and I've always switched back to Stock.
Well, I used them on my Inspire 4g. But I ran other ROMs so I guess the keyboards were never exactly "stock"...
Meh! I can do without. The LGOG's stock is nice, for my preference anyway.

And you're 100% positive that handcent is not Chinese or otherwise related to anything Asian? I don't see anywhere on their site stating that they're local, or European. And what proof do you have that they steal your info and sells them?
I don't find go SMS a resource hog at all actually so I don't know about that either.

Many third party SMS app comes with added features that aren't available on stock apps. For me, go SMS pro has two features that I don't see in other SMS apps yet, unless they're addons, and those are inter grated lock screen for the app itself and a private chest to store all your texts that u don't want ppl to see. It has screen popup notifications too so uh don't have to constantly access your SMS app to read or reply texts but I think handcent has the same feature.

I like Handcent for some of the features to customize and privacy aspects. Different backgrounds to choose from and privacy inbox to off load or keep texts in through their storage.
The stock is okay, but unless I've missed something it's fairly limited and bland as far as options.
I use go pro sms...haha....it works pretty well too!

I always used the stock SMS app, never felt comfortable with anything else. I like the simplicity. Swiftkey keyboard plus the stock app= perfect minimalistic experience.
I use the stock sms and then either Swype or Swiftkey flow.
Sent from my UNLOCKED LG-E970 using xda premium
I'd live to use the stock app if only it has security integration. Just cuz the phone is locked doesn't mean ppl can't get into your phone and then read the text messages. Its an added layer of security.
Another advantage of go SMS pro (not sure if handcent has a similar feature) is that if u never delete your text messages and have literally thousands n thousands of text messages within a single contact, go SMS truncates the chain of conversations to the latest ones n if u scroll up, u can click show more messages to view older ones. This speeds up loading time when going into a conversation. Whereas in the stock app, it can take sometimes 5 or more seconds of delay since its trying to load all the old texts.
For example, my conversation with my gf has never been deleted lately, resulting in nearly 10,000 texts between the both of us. When I open our conversation in go SMS pro, it works fine. But using the stock app can take nearly 10-15 seconds n it sometimes even crash and freeze. So yeah, it can make a difference.

I actually love the look of the stock SMS app, but it is so slow after you have more than 50-100 messages. Sometimes names don't show up when you're viewing the messages (ie. it just shows the persons number). When you first open the app, it displays numbers instead of names for a few seconds as well.
I would definitely use it, if it was faster

Was looking for this too, working great! Not sure about MMS, but I'll use the stock app for those if needed.
I'm not even sure if it's possible, but I'd like something like that. I know GoSMS has pop-up notifications, but they're too damn intrusive.
I just want to be able to pull down the notifications tray, tap “reply,” and have a window pop-up.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I would love if we could get this. This is one of the only requests I have that would make stuff better than we already have it. I have an aosp messaging app that someone posted a while back but it is kind of buggy sometimes and it lacks some features that newer ones have.

Meh. It didn't work for me. Plus, it's über buggy. Glowfly let's you use any messenger. It just affects the notification drawer. Plus, its popup windows are better, in my opinion.
I always have problems with these third party sms apps, the notifications are always messed up, lightflow doesn't work right, I get the same messages twice a lot, and the list can go on.
.......I just want an AOSP rom so I can be done with these stupid problems, sense is going to be the death of HTC.
For sure, dude. I need me some Paranoid Android lovin' up in heeyah. Tablet apps in 1080p? Yes, please.
Hey everyone, so I was wondering, which messaging/texting app do you use and which do you believe is the best?
On my Atrix 4G i used GoSMS and I loved it, but recently GoSMS has been just piling on ads onto my phone and it really ticks me off. I tried using the stock messaging app, and it was great and all, besides the constant crashing (maybe it was my rom) and the stupid smiley face emoticons it uses. Is there any other messaging apps that you guys recommend? Hopefully if we get Sense 5, do you think that the HTC messaging app will change up a bit? Also, is the a regular android messaging app (like they have on the Nexus) for download anywhere? Thanks!

Unfortunately when I tried this app out it took far too long to launch and load my messages (3-5 seconds just watching the pre-launch screen of the app). Does anyone know if he's made any strides in speeding it up? It seems like he's loading the messages on the UI thread or something....
that app does seem like a very cool app, like i said the only problem i had was the notifications and the random forced closes. once you get the hang of the app it seems very nice to be able to multitask that quickly on it. hopefully the free version (which ive been using) will make some big strides so this can be a top app
