Well there has been a lot of speculation for the next nexus device and many a lot on internet are claiming the next nexus device would be based off LG's flagship phone LG Optimus G and the new nexus would be termed as LG Optimus G Nexus....
Reports also say that the device will probably be launched next month at a conference oraganized by both Google and LG.
Given that we have used LG's remarkable Optimus One P500 series....what do you think of the next nexus by LG...
If you had the money...would buy the phone?????
Do share your reviews....
Looks like an amazing phone plus with Google giving the updates. Unmatchable

i think the only issue with lg phones is about updating roms. LG has not convinced it's customers in updating the roms. for example when GB was released, LG updated the optimus one very late and also it didn't update the rom for my region. but i believe LG is better than SAMSUNG or the other phones. I have read some reviews about 3 powerful phones in the market such az LG 4x HD, Samsung galaxy s III and htc one x. i concluded from those reviews that among these three phones, LG is the best in shape and performance and battery and in overall. so i like to see the next nexus with LG. it can be a great phone and if i have money i will buy it.

Wow, that almost looks like an iPhone : |
Not a smart choice after, you know, Samsung and Apple...
Anyway, LG is totally OK with me. As long as Google itself will update the smartphone, there's no problem if LG, HTC or Samsung build a Nexus.
My beloved Galaxy Nexus died on me and I am looking for a new phone. I am considering picking up an unlocked Optimus G E970. I am currently in India, but i expect to be in the US sometime in November. My carrier of choice in the US is T-Mobile.
Need some advice from experienced users :
1. I need usb tethering to work. From what I read here, tethering is disabled by default. Is this true of only the on - contract devices or is it disabled for the off-contract devices as well?
2. I have read the numerous threads here, but i dare ask again. Seeing that T-Mobile LTE is lit in Indianapolis (where I expect to be in Nov), can I expect to get both LTE and HSPA+?

I'm just a regular user. I need a decent phone to get me by the next few months.
The plan is to buy a new phone - Nexus 5, Note 3, Moto-X, S4 GPE- after reaching the US. I'll hand over the Optimus g to my wife at that point.

HERE ARE CHOICES HAVE A LOOK
http://www.91mobiles.com/samsung-galaxy-grand-i9082-price-in-india
http://www.91mobiles.com/sony-xperia-l-price-in-india
http://www.91mobiles.com/lg-optimus-g-e970-price-in-india
.. I PREFER SAMSUNG BRANDS ACTUALLY .. BECAUSE THEY ARE MORE RELIABLE AND WIDELY USED BY THE ANDROID USERS SO IT GIVES MORE COMPATIBILITY WITH APPS AND MORE
YOU CAN CHECK THOSE PHONES ON YOU TUBE LIKE HOW THEY LOOK OUT OF THE BOX... :good:
Of course you can get LTE and HSA+. Where there is no LTE, what else but HSPA+ used? Unless you live really in the boondocks and only have 3G/HSPA. This supports whatever AT&T supports or if you have Sprint version. No idea about the International, though I thought I read the international LTE is not the same as one used in North America.
- You can also flash AT&T or Sprint Radio.
USB tethering I believe is enabled on unlocked phones, with custom roms at least.
I agree with Viskon. Why wait for more power hungry, battery monster eating phones later when you can get the Moto X now? As it is, it has the most software features and a great battery life. For gaming and etc, it still has the Adreno 320 which is the same on LGOG. Though it's only a dual core, but it should be the same Krait v2 core used on the LGOG. I don't think quad-core is needed for Android right now. The Moto X believe has the 2GB of ram for multi-tasking. And with Android 4.3 support it has the updated GL ES 3.0 support.
- Phones I list below and you have mentioned just have better, bigger, more power hungering hardware specs that are unneeded in an Android Phone.
- Moto X has the software features, good enough camera and more ease of use design. That's the impression I've gotten from the reviews and write ups on the Moto X.
To me the SnapDragon 800 just means it will be hotter and drain battery even faster and meanwhile can't think of any app that needs that kind of heat/power other than maybe a game, in which case, seriously get a Tablet with PowerVR or a gaming laptop.
Other phones to look at would be the Sony Xperia Z and Oppo 5, both of which have great specs, way better camera than either LGOG, Nexus 4 and more than likely Nexus 5, and Moto X. And both have screens that will unlikely be beaten by any new phone coming, the 1080p IPS and sLCD3 with ridiculous PPI are already overkill for 5" screens.
- Benefit is both Sony and Oppo are dev friendly and well supported by all the major dev/mod projects.
- Oppo uses dual CMOS sensor! And Sony uses great sensor and lots of adjustments for low light pictures, HDR, etc. Both phones make camera on LG, Nexus and Samsung look pitiful, only Nokia can top them.
Thanks for the insights.
I am trying not to get into custom roms. I need a phone that has tethering enabled out of the box.
I have also been looking at the Xperia ZL. It seems to be compatible with just about any network on the planet. But it does cost a fair bit more than the LGOG.
LG seems to have dumped their unsold AT&T LGOGs in India, and these are going for cheaper than Nexus 4s.
The Moto-X is not a phone I can get right now, since it is a US only phone at this point.
Sent from my Micromax A116 using Tapatalk 2
If you pay the carrier for tethering and it's included in your contract is the only way you're going to get tethering right out of the box.

I've been trying to decide on the GPE Galaxy S4, GPE HTC One, Nexus 5 or Moto X Dev Edition since I have AT&T in the USA and want a device with an unlocked/unlockable bootloader.
IDEALLY, I would purchase a Developer Edition Android smartphone from AT&T since their insurance I have covers any Android device sold by AT&T which is apparently 0. Verizon has a Dev Edition S4, and I heard rumors in 2013 of an AT&T version, but nothing at all yet.
So, if I'm going with a non-ATT insured Android, I want the absolute best functionality, specs/speed, and battery life so I can use it for at least a year to last through Android OS latest version updates as it gets better and better.
Truly the Moto X having specialized processors which dazzles me, but I wonder how long before it gets sluggish with its dual-core processor. Anyone have knowledge/experiences to share?
Thanks everyone! I love these forums!

As far as what device to get, if you want the most development and fastest updates the Nexus 5 is the way to go. The GPE HTC One and GPE Galaxy S4 are also excellent choices, but they are also 6 month old devices if your really looking for more recent device release. The Motto X is a great device with the features it offers, as far as being slow because it's dual core keep in mind it's not the usual dual core architecture it uses the custom X8 processor architecture, which you can read more about here http://www.anandtech.com/show/7235/moto-x-review/4. Overall, if I had to make a decision I would go with the Nexus 5 excellent development, specs, and value.

Awesome, thanks a lot guys. Few other questions: what do you guys have to say about it having an internal battery and and no external storage?
Also, according to the dimensions and possible button placement, my Otter box Preserver series for my S4 MIGHT allow the Nexus 5 to fit...though no guarantee. Prob gotta head to a store and try it.
Can the Nexus 5 do voice command as well as the Moto X if hacked properly?
Last Q, promise: what about selling my brand new S4 in mint and getting a Moto G until I can get my hands on the S5? Awesome as that sounds, I believe the S5 will be locked down even more.
The Nexus 5 is looking VERY attractive.
Thanks again guys.
Update and question below: I decided to list my Samsung S4 32GB that I got on Jan 21st so I can get the Nexus 5. Gonna lose quite a bit of money for all the accessories I bought for it. I'm excited, assuming my phone sells soon, I've never used swappa.com but it IS XDA recommended.
Question: Will I be able to transfer SMS/MMS from the S4 to the Nexus 5 pretty easily? I suppose there might be some contacts on-device, and not in my google contacts that I'd transfer.

I apologize for the late response classes have been keeping me very busy.
1. Regarding an internal battery up until I bought my Nexus 10 all my previous devices had come with an removable battery, but I got used to the non-removable battery really quickly and if you need to do a hard reboot you can simply hold down the power button on the device until you feel and hear it vibrate and it will reboot. While the non-removable storage isn't optimal it's a lot more manageable if you use say Google Music to store your music, Netflix for video, and Drive, and other cloud services to store your content only keeping your most used content on the devices internal storage.
2. For the case I would like you said head to the store and see if it fits. But the main question I would ask it while we all like saving a few bucks if I'm spending $350+ on a device another $30-$40 to get a case that is meant for the device and will fit securely is a worthy investment.
3. While I don't have any personal experience with using the app the Open Mic+ app (As featured on the XDA Portal) is said to do an excellent job of simulating the Motto X touchless controls.
4. This SMS Backup and Restore app will allow you to transfer your SMS and MMS from the Galaxy S4 to your Nexus 5.
MUCH THANKS! LOVING MY UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER, CUSTOM RECOVERY, ROOTED NEXUS 5...although transferring my MMS group messages doesn't seem to be working

So, I was just hear playing with my phone on the couch and thought to myself, an 8 inch or bigger version of this would be awesome as a tablet. This is what android needs; a premium built tablet with boom sound speakers and a minimalist skin on top of stock android. I have gone back and forth between an iPad Air and nexus 7 for the past few months and neither one of them completely satisfies. Although, many find enjoyment with the size of the Nexus or simplicity of the iPad, I find myself wanting the perfect in between; an android tablet in the body of an iPad. What are your thoughts?

It's a great idea and i hope HTC decides to get back into the tablet market. The last time HTC released a tablet it was beyond overpriced if you ask me. The HTC Jetstream exclusive to AT&T for $800.

I think if HTC does a tablet. It needs to be non exclusive, sell WiFi options and have carrier based versions. And don't skimp on specs.

I like Android, and have had it since the original Galaxy, but the Surface Pro 2 from Microsoft is quite nice. It's not cheap, but built very well. They thought of almost everything on the hardware side. The software is nice as well. The RT 2 is less expensive, but I'm not sure exactly how close it comes to the Pro 2 version. Both Surfaces are certainly worth a trip to Best Buy or The Microsoft Store.
Read an article that claims HTC is making the next Nexus tablet for Google. Wish I had the link but I read it this morning. Won't be sense, but it'll be a HTC tablet lol

Is it true?
I would like to see a 12 htc one max tablet with stereo boom speakers. And with a real good processor not some dual core piece of ancient tech. I dont know why so many tablets have slow old processors. Actually I would prefer it be windows based because android you only get 2 years of updates at max then your forgotten and expected to buy new, where windows is always update able so two years later your not stuck with an old out of date operating system. Like give me a break make them worth keeping more than 2 years and not be disposable. How many old tablets do you see for sale that have android 4.0, 4.1 or even 4.2 because they are basically disposable when they get out dated and you cant update them, that is why windows tablets are a better investments. Now phones dont matter as most of use update every year or 2 at max, but tablets we want to keep longer.

Yeah it's too bad about the alpha but it seems right now people want 5 inch screens so it loses out on that. I would recommend the S5 or HTC one m8, both have great dev support. But the best idea is to wait for spring/summer when the S6 and the new HTC is released

Since quite a lots of android users switched-to/switched-back Iphone now because of 4.7"/5.5" Iphone launched. You really don't expect any android discussion board will be as busy as in the old age, the time has gone. Another major reason is nowadays people slowly upgrade their smartphone because hardware is started to mature. When you look on XDA, you will know many new phones development board isn't that active now.
I'm now with Z1 Compact and also thinking to upgrade to Z3 Compact or Alpha or S6(if it manage to smaller than S5 in size a bit) in around March/April. I think mostly I will pick Z3c or Alpha because I believe S6 would be too expensive to me and excess my budget but I will put an eye on it. Z4/Z4c/Z4U is almost sure to hit a big delay now, they will all announce only on May/June sometimes. So, I decided to don't wait them now.
If you like Alpha, just go get it. It is a rare Samsung phone though almost no development here but the phone itself is very capable without any support. If you want a little bit bigger community and need a microSD slot, then pick Z3c.

Switching to Iphone from more matured system? Iphone was good and impressive like 3 generations ago when android wasn't so matured system, nowdays I don't see a reason for people who own for example a S4 to switch to Iphone.
The latter part is very true, a 100€ phone can handle basically anything that basic user throws at it. And the devs and other people who can get more out of their current older phones trough custom roms, don't really have reasons for upgrade.

You gonna search more information. Iphone market share worldwide is same with Samsung in 2014 Q4 and already excess Samsung now in 2015 Q1 so Apple is the No.1 smartphone company again now.
System-wise is always Android better but since Iphone borrowed more and more functions from Android in every generation OS, the gap in different will just become smaller in long run. But on the other hand, Iphone still owns the most best apps and even both platform got the same one, IOS one usually performs better.

Only G3 or S5 or M8 have active development I can name(Z3/Z3c isn't active coz most people still using Z1/Z1c/Z2) but M8 camera is really suck I don't suggest it. And you don't like plastic samsung so no S5 I think, only G3 leave.
S6 will use Exynos and no S810, this time S6 development should not be very active as well because Exynos is harder to support. G4 will also hit a big delay becoz GFlex2 will out first on March/April, G4 won't appear until May/June much like Z4.
I feel bad right now cus im hoping to see alot of roms for this great device but i guese i was wrong.Im not upset or anything but this is why we buy android phones instead of iphone we need to change to somthing new
