WiFi Tether Fix in XU B.89 TFT FIRMWARE - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

DISCLAIMER THIS IS NOT MY WORK! All thanks go to drsanket_xperia_u.
First you need this!
http://code.google.com/p/xdroidx/downloads/detail?name=SQLite Editor-9.apk
I cannot post url links sorry!
Now open root explorer and go to:
Data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases.
You will see a file called "settings.ab"
You need to move this to your sd card - anywhere will do, your going to 've moving it back soon.
Open it up and go to secure and find "tether_dun_required" and set the value to "0"
Once done move it back to its original place :- data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases
Change the permissions to RW RW RW
Now reboot and bobs your uncle. Drsankets your saviour, I'm the messanger, haha you get the idea... Tether is working! Tried and confirmed by me!

Not my work
I just found a way to do it on mobile itself
Credit goes to EROCRUN

Working great!
It took my PC about a minute to actually get an IP from the phone - seems like DHCP is not so fast.
Otherwise, awesome.

Dude, it's my trick! please read posts carefully.

Sorry dude must have been all the excitement haha

no problem friend =) just wanted to let you know if you didn't =)

It's Working

It was working only with 3g network... but it still giving tethering error on wifi tethering. It's little bit odd to tether wifi but it's not working. I don't know, maybe is my fault
But, I'll wait for some proper firmwire, like word or some fully functional one :/

It's absolutely your fault.

Haha did I mention neither one of us are responsible for a fault on your phone! I must have done it wrong when I reflashed .89 and my phone went into bootloop after doing this fix and uninstalling all the bloatware

Okay
Now those who are having tethering error even after setting tether_dun_required to 0
Do this
Go to settings.db
Secure
Change value in
Tether_dun_apn to the apn of ur provider....set perm to rw-rw
Reboot

but it won't work if you delete that file after flashing, because it affects to phone on first start.
so if someone flashed ftf, only workaround is changing db.

Ok, and what will happen when you "factory restart" your phone ??
The settings.db trick wont work because of the "custom settings", and you will have to edit settings.db again,
and if you delete that custom settings.. and reset you phone, the problem is gone forever.

I tried deleting file+factory settings combination ofcourse, but didn't work on my phone.

Could somebody tell me which are the permissions for the two other files present in data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases, please? I mean settings.db-shm and settings.db-wal, please?

What exactly did you do?
1. you had tether working using your tweak...
2. HOW did you make it not working again.. did you restore the original settings.db ??
3. then... what next ??
I have a EVERYTHING working .89 only by deleting some customization's in etc.

Run this in a shell, either with adb or terminal emulator.
Once done, make sure the permissions of the keystr file are rw-,rw-,rw-. You will need root to do any of this.

Do you have root? If so, did you make sure the keystr file existed in the /efs/imei folder after you were done? If so, and the file was there, did you make sure the permissions of the file were correct as I said to? If you answered no to any of these questions, then you did it wrong.

That is the model number for the x10 on a carrier called Docomo. If you want to modify the build.prop you will need a root explorer app such as es file explorer or root explorer (I assume that your phone is rooted...). Go to /system/build.prop and copy it to your SD card (always back up something BEFORE you modify it). Then open the original in a text editor. Change the lines that start with
ro.semc.product.model and
ro.product.model from S0-01C to Xperia X10
Then restart your phone.

[GUIDE] How to remove "data traffic" icon (notification) by Karlson2k

Hi guys!
I have found really easy guide how to remove annoying "data traffic" notification in our Xperia's. It's written for X10 and other phones, but it's working perfectly on my rooted Xperia S with ICS
Original thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1371117
--------------------------
Requirements:
- Rooted phone
- ICS or GB firmware (not sure if it's working on GB)
- Root Explorer or other file manager (with root support)
With some localizations this notification is appeared only when cell data is disabled and can be cleared, with some other localizations this notification is displayed whenever cell data is enabled or disabled and can't be cleared.
You can activate/deactivate this notification for enabled and disabled data traffic and switch on/off ability to clear this notification.
All settings are in /system/etc/customization/settings/com/android/phone/custom_settings.xml file.
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<settings version="1">
<setting key="data-connection-except-mms-can-clear-icon" runtime="false">[COLOR="Red"]true[/COLOR]</setting>
[COLOR="Red"] <setting key="data-connection-except-mms-show-icon-when-enabled" runtime="false">false</setting>
<setting key="data-connection-except-mms-show-icon-when-disabled" runtime="false">true</setting>[/COLOR]
</settings>
(You need to add red coloured lines and change "false" value in third line to "true")
Settings are self-explanatory.
Some localized ROM don't have phone/ directory or custom_settings.xml file. If you don't have this file, then you Xperia will defaults to quoted settings. In that case you can just create /system/etc/customization/settings/com/android/phone/ directory and put attached xml in it.
Thanks!
Just created the directory, copied the attached.xml, changed permissions rw-rw---- and rebooted.... After that.... annoying notification disappear!
Keep good work!

use a root explorer,go to system/app and delete it

You need to create all the sub-folders if you dont have it by default.
/system/etc/customization/settings/com/android/phone/
then paste the file without rename and set permissions......then reboot

Doesn't work on Xperia GO with ICS 4.0.4, unfortunately.

[Q] Security policy and SD card

Hey mates
At every ROM boot iam getting a message:

How can i solve this mess?
Couldnt find any solution =( and this problem is rather popular
1. It shows even WITHOUT my ext SD card, so the problem starts in internal storage.
Both storages are working flawlessly.
2. There is no any device administrators.

First of all here is the Mirko's answer (coz its on Disaster v11):
It s just a public value mismatch, instead of "media scanner" public value there s another public value that call that string. I m too lazy to look for it, it s just a string.

Looks like you will need a mod fix for that since it's only a string which gets called, lol he actually said that? Hmm maybe there is no text search in his editor or he must be pissed and tired to search for it.

You probably will have to edit your framework.jar file, hmmm you wanna try it yourself? So are you experienced in Java programming? All you have to do is do a text search for it in a editor(modify dex file) and replace it with a null value or delete the public variable which calls the string or override the public var with null.
Edit : Do it only if you're sure enough, also if it ain't from the framework, then you will have to search around your modded apk by finding which all gets initialized during bootup.
Edit: ah I forgot that the dev mentioned "media scanner" you won't need to check around apks at all you might need to check out services.jar also though.
Edit :i mentioned class file it was a sudden mistake, I actually meant the "dex" file, silly me, I corrected it, so it's generally like this, decompile dex, edit, recompile, repack jar.
Sent from my GT-P6200 using xda app-developers app
---------- Post added at 03:47 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:26 AM ----------
Quite frankly doing the above for just a harmless string is quite unnecessary, just enjoy or find a major bug that needs fixing like a bug which hinders actual functionality a inform the related dev, alongside mention this and he might fix this also.

I've been looking for a solution to this "security policy restricts the use of external sd card", and I use DiasterRom v11 as well.
The only difference is this.
I took the ROM and used "kitchen" on it, as I wanted to remove some apks.
Well I used kitchen to extract everything,
did nothing to it, and let kitchen rebuild it.
then I installed it, and that's when I get the error: "security policy restricts the use of external sd card".
when I install the original ROM, I get no errors.
I also posted the same question here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/help/modified-diasterrom-v11-kitchen-t2773615
So any help would be appreciated!

The problem was that you're editing an important file of android os. You can't edit that file when using phone ,you have to replace file through recovery and set correct permissions to file.
So you need to create an update.zip (I can do this if you're not in hurry)

You could access recovery right?so you could do these to make your ROM back to life:
create nandroid backup from the unbootable ROM ,do wipes ,flash new ROM ,updating recovery(as you said dear laura) +make files ready to flash(move or what ever)
Then restore the defective ROM and flash file (android.policy.jar) ....
That's it, everything works again without losing any thing! Sorry if I made you sad again :banghead:
Plus ,are you sure "killing via back button" option doesn't existing in settings /developing (named as " stop app via long press back button ")???? Cause almost all of custom Roms have this feature.
Cheers:beer:

The file manager can have any name. You just install it like any other zip.
From the recovery file manager, try replacing that jar again, and use the terminal included in the file manager(menu > terminal) to chmod the replaced jar file.

Aroma File Manager Support Adapted from amarullz and sk8erwitskil
You get here the possibility to browse your phone with root access in a friendly GUI file browser, while being in recovery
You even now get a terminal emulator to run in recovery

I Use PhilZ Touch Recovery
In PhilZ Touch Recovery i have to do the following steps for Aroma File Manager Support
Download Aroma File Manager from its Home Page
Get the 1.90 version and name the file aromafm.zip
Put the aromafm.zip in clockworkmod/aromafm/aromafm.zip in external or internal sdcards
In recovery, tap the Aroma File Manager menu or double tap any part of the screen outside menus
It will launch the file manager automatically
Double tap gesture linked to Aroma File Manager can be altered in the GUI Settings menu
Click to collapse
If the file name is not aromafm.zip then it wont work.

But i do have a Custom Rom.
I had flashed it to all my friends who has S3.

If you don't create a thread for your Rom then you'll never know it'll be popular or not.most of girls don't like cyanogen cause of color less UI , but you know what do girls exactly like
Ps.How do you create build.prop? I mean some serial numbers or build numbers should not change to fake num. Right?
