[Q] model number changed!!! - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently flashed a new rom on my x10i but now i cant use the flash tool as the model number has changed from x10i to S0-01C, there was no zip for changing the build.prop on the post where i got this rom! I searched the forum for solutions but couldn't find any!
i know we can change this by editing the build but don't know how!
i am a semi-noob
thanks in advance!

That is the model number for the x10 on a carrier called Docomo. If you want to modify the build.prop you will need a root explorer app such as es file explorer or root explorer (I assume that your phone is rooted...). Go to /system/build.prop and copy it to your SD card (always back up something BEFORE you modify it). Then open the original in a text editor. Change the lines that start with
ro.semc.product.model and
ro.product.model from S0-01C to Xperia X10
Then restart your phone.

Or you can use the new flashtool, connect your phone with USB debbugging on, pick Advanced - File Editor and fill the boxes:
path: system/ File: build.prop hit enter, change whatever you need to (as a matter of fact deveron3 just told you what you need to change), and finally click on save, disconnect and reboot, easy indeed!

Remapped keyboard issues in 2.1

Ok, I rooted and remapped the keyboard, and ti works fine, however, in order to get rid of the ugly language bar in landscape mode, I unchecked "default input settings" in the settings and.... they keyboard started acting as finnish/swedish again! When I checked "default input settings" - it reverted to normal. Is there any other file to edit?
ive got teh same problem
hmm since its still trying to grab qwerty-se-fi....what if we replace that with the qwerty-en.xml.
nope no dice
Any other ideas where the keyboard layout might be hiding?
if you uncheck the default input, the system uses the qwerty.kcm.bin file in /system/usr/keychars folder.
to get that replaced by the english layout you have to copy the qwerty-en.kcm.bin file from the /system/usr/keychars/mimmi/keyprints folder up into the /system/usr/keychars folder and save it as the qwerty.kcm.bin file.
i have read this somewhere on the x10 forum. i can't find the topic at the moment.
as i mentioned in another thread, the paths are from android 1.6. they might be different on 2.1.

edit: i actually read it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=777660
also, i don't know how to make modifications inside these bin files but would very much like to find out.

You didn´t understand. This is easy, and everyobody does it. The problems start when you untick the default entry method in keyboard properties. Read carefully first post.

I downgraded to 1.6 German and will wait for official release. Having a Swedish layout on a German keyboard using English for typing is too much for my poor brains. Meanwhile since you ar on 2.1 can you check the idea below?

I strongly suspect that this file will be the same in 1.6 . So what I will try to do - save this file from a german version of 1.6, flash nordic, and install the file from german version.
PS - tested it works.

wouldn't it be easier for you to just flash a rom which already has a multitouch in itself? you already rooted your phone, there's not much you can do wrong, and you can always restore if you do your backups on time
edit: plus, custom roms are in many cases much better than stock
thanks....its already working...thank you for all the walkthroughs you have posted....!!!!!

[HOW TO] CRT-Effect only

This is just the plain CRT effect. No custom roms, no pre-made files or anything. (You need root)
I've searched for this on XDA, Google, other forums etc. but I couldn't find it.
It always showed up ROMs including this feature, not the actual feature itself
DO A BACKUP BEFORE EDITING ANY FILES!
Also, you need root
1. Pull framework-res.apk from the /system/framework/ folder via ADB (Alternate way below*)
2. Decompile framework-res.apk with APKTool/APK Manager (Whatever you prefer..)
3. Navigate to /res/values/ and open the bools.xml file with Notepad++ (Notepad works too )
4. Search for "config_animateScreenLights" and change the "true" to "false".
5. Save, and compile the file. Open the fresh-compiled file and copy resources.arsc to the original apk. (Overwrite the existing one)
Click to collapse
Transfer the framework-res.apk file back to your phone, and then switch it with the original one
You must reboot to make it work!
*If you don't know how to push/pull files via adb, you can use Root Explorer and copy it to the /sdcard/ folder, then transfer it to your PC.
If you switch it back with root explorer, programs will start to force close. Just reboot and you'll be fine

I read your thread, and know what you posted.
What I'm saying is that if someone makes the anim for example KF3, it would only take a few seconds to upload so other people could use, while diy CRT anim takes at least 5 mins even if you know what you're doing.
