Hi all,
I was just curious, if Google is wanting Android to be open source, and Sony is doing major things for the Open Source Community... Why haven't we seen a Sony Nexus yet?
The Xperia Z is up there with the newest flagships so I don't see that there would be any Hardware issues involved

Hi Guys,
Whats this Sony Crystal tablet, another name for Sony S or its something else??
Check below link to read the article:
Sony ‘Crystal’ Tablet releasing February 18th?
Afaik it's just the 3G version of the Tablet S for the US market.
I'm guessing it's the 3g tablet s. If Sony had something brand new coming out that soon, I think they would have shown it at CES, whch occured earlier this month
I was in CES and Sony is launching a new technology of display calling "cryatal LCD/LED display", but it is used in TV. Maybe it will be used in next generation tablet.

For now its for Sony Xperia Z2 only but I hope it would be possible to port it so it ca be used on all android devices. I was looking for an app like this a few weeks back and was surprised to find that it didn't already exist
A few days ago we have been informed that Xperia Z series replaced with New Xperia "X" series. Now Sony confirmed Xperia M series and Xperia C series is No more. Xperia X will be the mainstay for Sony.
From Xperiablog:
Word coming out from the Asian tech media is that not only has Sony ended the Xperia Z series, apparently the Xperia C and Xperia M series have also been cancelled. This means that Sony may exclusively use the Xperia X as a single brand to push all future handsets. This would tie in with our recent report that the rumoured ‘Xperia C6 Ultra’ may in fact arrive as the ‘Xperia X Ultra’.
Sony Mobile presentations appear to show that the Xperia X series marks Sony’s ‘Chapter 3’. Chapter 1 was between 2010-12 and was about the “open OS for web communication”, with the key highlight being the Sony Android phone that started it all – the Xperia X10. Chapter 2 took place between 2013-15 and was about the “best of Sony” highlighted by the Xperia Z series.
Now chapter 3 will take place between 2016-18 and marks “Xperia for new communication”. This is marked by ‘Xperia X’ as a new visual identity for Sony’s brand communication. The new ‘X’ logo will be used in all promotional print and TV advertising.
To be clear to readers, there will be no compromise in Sony creating a flagship phone. So just because there is no Xperia Z series, future flagship phones will carry on via the Xperia X range, with no compromise in specifications. Obviously what remains to be seen is how Sony will cleanly name all of the various handsets under just one brand, especially if Sony plans to use this over three years. But we’re sure Sony has thought of that…

Yes they should focus on few devices rather then releasing lots of them...

Yes, I feel this is a great decision by Sony, focusing on a few products is much better than focusing more. They are keeping also mid-range as well as flagship products within the X series. So it won't be a problem for the buyers. Policy looks similar with iPhone.
Sony is no more for me if my M4 has had his time or if i can trade it in. For Sony's sake and all future costumers i hope the get there software updates sorted with this new approach.
Sony does the right thing
Unfortunately, SONY will not take too much of the M series, and that all users know. So it is better to have few terminals in a single series, but has better support.
I'm curious if there will be builds for the Xperia Z5 Compact from Sailfish OS. There are some older news on the net that Jolla and Sony want to bring Sailfish to Xperia devices.

not for z5 series for sure.. they drop the updates on z5's
(i chased them for months on Sony Talk forum (official) and customer support on the phone
because so many bugs on my version of Z5C (each state got a bit different version)
but some of the bugs are the same
long story short, no new builds or updates from sony to z5's anymore
There are news from February 2017 that Jolla and Sony plan to bring Sailfish OS to Xperia devices.

Sailfish OS is coming to the Xperia X about the end of September. Perhaps we can hope for more supported devices in future.

Support for more devices, sure, but I wouldn't hold my breath for older devices, with the Xperia X as a baseline.

Let's hold our breath though a little while though. Much is happening with the xperias and sailfishOS at the moment.
Hellooo,
would be great if everyone here would participate in the vote so that our chances to rise to the line up increase.
Paranoid Android for Sony
"We personally also want to support the Sony Xperia line of devices and we teased a post of the Xperia Z3 Compact and the Xperia X both running AOSPA somewhere in the community recently. However, our infrastructure is not able to cope with the vast number of devices. We’d like all Sony users to answer in a poll for which devices you’d like to see added and we’ll support the devices with the most amount of votes."

Thanks!

I got my vote in a few days ago. It'd be fantastic to see our device supported but it seems unlikely with the lack of activity here.
I think PA was my favorite AOSP based ROM. It was clean, they didn't give too many options, didn't bundle in a bunch of unnecessary apps, and the pie menu was great. I used it on my SGS3 and Nexus 4 and was sad when they ended development, but it's nice to see they're bringing it back. I remember CM tried to implement the pie menu but it was never quite the same.
AOSPA for the Xperia X Compact will be a great addition. Since moving from Nexus devices I've missed the multitude of ROMS to choose from. Ran PA on Nexus 4, Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 5.
Please please please bring Paranoid Android to the XC!!!
Yesssssssss, thanks for all the votes! We made it to the line up guys!
Wohooooooo, so happy! ? ? ? ?

Paranoid Android is now available for the X Compact! I am only having some issues with the fingerprint scanner. I can set up the first but not others and I can't delete the original or use it to open the phone.
