My brother just flashed his Verizon DNA phone to cricket and was wanting to root..so im trying to find out if it is possible or if by trying it and knowing he would have to do a full wipe of his phone(cache, dalvik, system/data) would that erase the full flash to cricket and be on verizon again??? If thats the case then he's crap outta luck lol but if its possible to root it and keep the flash to cricket i would like to know how. Thanks in advance.

If your unlocked, just boot up in cwm, wipe cache and dalvik then install your rom again.
If on stock rom, an sbf would take you to stock and lock you again. Might as well install mofs rom.

if you're unlocked with 2.3.5 you cannot sbf unless you of course want a perma locked bootloader.
if you're bootlooping use the recovery to restore...... that's what it's there for......

Thank you for hijacking my thread. And Mof can be used on both - Although might be a little buggy with us cell.
And thank you guys up top for answering my question, I was a little confused, as before this electrify I had a LOCKED electrify and was used to SBFing twice a day-_-
Hello everyone,
I have a question about flashing themes. I am a noob at this so I apologize before hand if this ia a stupid question. I have a photon and I took the ota. I know no ics or unlocking my bootloader. I'm rooted and have bootstrap recovery.
My question is about Peetr_'s GB Hybrid theme. After making a nandroid backup could I just flash the theme by itself without flashing the ROM.
I have rooted a couple phones but never flashed anything so I'm tryna take it slow.
Thank you in advance for your reply.
Edit: I found out that I have to flash the rom also

yeah you need to flash his v20 rom for locked phones, and then flash the theme. it's worth it though. his hybrid rom is pretty badass and gives us the closest experience to ics that we can get without having an unlocked bootloader.
Okay thanks for that. If I was going to do that what exactly would I do to flash the rom. I am really new at this and I want to make sure I get it right.

Do I wipe factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe dal cache then flash rom or just flash rom without wiping anything?

I have a Droid Razr, the original, flashed to cricket with Gingerbread 2.3.6 . I am trying to find a safe way to update the kernal and get ics while still flashed to cricket. I have not had success finding a tutorial by using google. But maybe someone else could try. Or help me in some way. Please and thank you

Ok. So I have a Droid RAZR original verizon (xt912 I belive) on page plus. I have had someone flash it so it is full 3g so it works on Page Plus. I had it on ICS when it was flashed. Then I updated to the Motorola 4.1.2 Update and I had to get it flashed again. The person who flashed it charges 60 bucks, so it is impossible for me to get this phone flashed again. I have successfully rooted this phone on android 4.1.2. If I install a custom ROM, will I have to flash it again, because I don't want to fork over another 60 bucks. If it does lose page plus 3g, is there an easier way to flash this myself?
Thanks,
VLASP
Yes I have Pageplus and I always flash roms and get everything working with out flashing again. And you didnt have to pay that much! 60 is too much. Google "Droid RAZR on Pageplus" and you will find the tutorial on how to flash it step by step. I flashed it without knowing anything about flashing phones. Good luck!

So those tutorials also work on custom roms? That's nice to know. Thanks! I will try it.

Just flash on stock ROM, and as soon as you install roms it will automatically stay connected you do t have to reflash after each install of a ROM.

Yes it will keep the flash, and will have everything working.
