HI, have recently purchase a Smasung Grand from China Unicom, brought it back to native Singapore and tried to update firmware using Odin 3.07 with and .tar file I9082XXAMC8_I9082TMNAMC1_TMN.
Started working for a couple of seconds before the process stopped and my phone is stuck on the 'Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again' page.
I have tried plugging in to recover but Kies doesn't recognise the device and it is not appearing.
I do need help on this! Anyone with solutions please do help!!:crying::crying::crying:

Hello Experts,
1) I have Samsung Galaxy S2 with Gingerbread 2.3.5.
2) I have opened Kies and it offered me firmware update to the PLE or something similar.
3) Kies downloaded the upgrade file and Samsung rebooted to the download mode.
It says "Downloading...Do not turn off the target..
I thought it should be for a while like 20 minutes or an hour. What can I do?
The phone is still connected to the PC and Kies is opened, but it can't connect to the device and it maybe logical - it's in the boot state.
Please guide me what to do, it's urgent.

I have download Samsung Kies and connected my phone, it says that ICS is available and when I tried updating the the phone now its says
"Firmware update encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies " I have tried this again but now my PC won't recognise my phone at all. Both times I had to take this back to O2 for repairs...tried to do this using Odin and download the ICS from Sam Mobile and it does the same thing...need help

Have you downloaded the correct firmware for Odin? There are several variants of i9100...

I have downloaded the one for my phone which is
Android PDA CSC
4.0.3 I9100PXXLPH I9100PO2ULP4
Tried this twice and it failed me.
Also tried this through Kies and the same thing happens.
Hi, I have a big problem. I had the 'Charging paused...' message popping up all the time so, iI decided to downgrade from ICS to Gingerbread. Sadly, I was flashin via odin and it failed leaving me with the 'Firmware upgrade encountered issue..' screen. Now I can get into download mode but neither odin nor windows will recognise the phone. I've got odin to recognise it a few times by fluke and tried to flash a new rom but it's failed. Now I can't get odin to recognise the phone at all. What should i do. Your help is much appreciated.

i made a mistake while trying to flash ICS rom using odin while i was connecting usb modem and odin stuck, after i disconnected the tab it gives me this msg "firmware upgrade encounterd an issue please select recovery mode in kies and try again"
so now i can't deal with this isuue please help me
p.s
i was trying to solv the problem of bypassing sim activation cuz i am living outside the US and i don't need LTE

now its completely dead, i can not even switch it on or putting it in download mode

I tried to flash XXEMA2 firmware for Optus off Sammobile.
Everything was okay until about 75% through the odin flashing process of the stock firmware then I got an error about something not being able to be written.

What error message did you encounter exactly? If you cannot remember and you can get into download mode as you said, did you try to flash again?
I spoke too soon, after spending about half an trying to connect it to kies and reflashing it. All it took was a swap into a USB 3.0 port which reinstalled the drivers and it worked.. Took about a third of the time also.. Strange.
