I recently received a Kuno Tablet. It has the same physical characteristics as the 10.1 except for the lack of a hdmi out. Its running android 2.3.1 with a 1.2ghz processor. I have been trying to find some way to root this tablet for a few days now and have had no luck whatsoever. As far as I know no one else has even attempted to root one of these. Help of any kind would be appreciated and I will do my best to answer any questions. I am considering trying petes root tools or gingerbreak but i have my doubts that this will work. I have tried to put the device into some sort of recovery mode but have had no luck so far with any of the button combinations I tried.
Hi xsurferx,
the Kuno really looks like the Archos 101... the chinese engineers are incredible.
Under the hood there's different hardware working.
The manufacturers website mentions a [email protected]
http://mykuno.com/kuno-specs.html
Due to this fact there's nothing in common with the way Archos created the firmware on the A101 and the way you could root this device.
You could try to find out how the firmware looks like on your Kuno... but i guess this is not the right place to discuss these things.
Anyway, good luck!

Progress
Any progress on trying to root the Kuno tablet? Superoneclick says that it roots it successfully but Superuser does not get installed. Is there at least a way to flash Gapps onto it? I can't even set up a gmail account unless I use the IMAP settings
super one clicks havent worked for me yet either however, i do work for the high school that i attend on their tablets and anything else they need done, through contact with the company that created the tablets ive learned that the tablet does not have a recovery mode and that the tablets actually have to be imaged like a computer would. So once i get my hands on an image i should be able to modify it to allow root access. If that fails im going to try rooting it through adb and installing superuser that way as well
what shcool has the funds to buy tablets like that?
So you just help them>?
lots of them
Many schools are going to one to one devices to try and help students learn and while they are expensive most of it is payed for by grants and other funds. I do anything they need from pc to mac and android. The tablets will be given out to freshman this coming semester and they want to see just how locked down these are and im assuming that rooting them will be the first step to unlocking them from the cirruculumloft software they are using. They want to see how to unlock them so they can prevent it in the future. Which is where i come in.
Status...
The kuno tablet has a recovery system that can only be accessed by flashing a new firmware to it, however, it is not possible to get this firmware without getting it from the company that made the tablet. So...in order to root the tablet you have to create a custom firmware from scratch for the tablet because the firmware on the tablet was designed in such a way that the android market can not run on it. The company removed the directories and other items the market needs to run. You can not connect the tablet through adb, nor can you install from SD or even access the SD card from inside the firmware the tablets are currently running. In order to root this tablet we would need to create a custom firmware and then flash it onto the tablet. Anyone interested in trying? Also, super one clicks will brick the device, I'm surprised yours still worked after that.
new discoveries
The market will run on the tablet, i was lied to on that one. The tablet connects through adb very easily and most commands work in adb. unfortunately you can not reboot into recovery or the boot loader through adb
unrevoked won't find my tablet. what do i do now?
this
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=unrevoked+won't+find+my+kuno+tablet,+What+now?
I work for a company that will be selling these Kuno tablets to schools. A CurriculumLoft Employee told me these tablets are not approved by Google so that makes them not able to use the android market. I have found that these can use the Amazon App market.
Figured it out!!!
After working on this for the better part of 6 months i have finally achieved root and flashed a custom rom with CWM recovery installed. I found that the Kuno tablet is essentially the same as the Arnova 10 G2 tablet with the exception of hard drive size. Here is the link to the site and instructions i used to flash the rom. If any one has any questions let me know.

xsurferx is no longer working on this project. He doesn't have a kuno 3 and recommends you don't try the above method, as it is not for a kuno 3.
Hi,
A friend of mine gave is Archos 101 to update the software.
By mistake and after some reading I tought it was a Gen9 product so I followed the instructions on "how to Root your G9, Enable SDE, and Optimize"
Tablet started to bootlop, so I did some digging and found out that I was unable to reinstall the FW for gen9 because my unit was... a gen8.
Actually I found in a ".daos" directory a file "firmware_archos_android_gen8.aos"...
So I downloaded the single fw available on Archos site and finally the update went ok, but now the unit is bootlooping.
Before doing anything help I need an advice on how to proceed...
Thanks!
Hey SergioBigred,
i don't know what exactly causes your device to boot loop...
Anyway, did you ever hear of entering recovery mode.
Try to follow this path and reformat your device.
Then do a fresh install of the firmware.
Good luck,

Did that and it worked, just wanted to be sure before doing anything stupid (as I did applying g9 rooting steps to a g8...)
I don't mean to post this question twice. I was wondering if anybody knows of a root method for the Coby Kyros MID7065-8 GB tablet? I have searched the web for a method and have found nothing. This is one of their newer tablet with ICS 4.0.4. If anybody can tell me where I need to start and what I need to look for I thought about trying to develop a root method for this tablet
Count me in too....

As the new and mostly happy owner of an MID7065-8, I too would appreciate information on rooting and modding this device. I bought it online, so was unaware it was not rooted (and Coby's website was no help). Because it's so new, it may take awhile for mods to appear, but as the tablet is a great deal, and even has Bluetooth, I suspect Coby will sell a ton of them.
I am interested in this tablet and would like to see if it's possible to root it as well!
How to change 7065 Build Properties?
Also need root method for MID7065, apparenty in order to be able to change a Build Property (GPS.enable).
I tried the Bin4ry method - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460 - and could not get it to work.
I thought I got the adb W64 driver part working OK - Device Manager shows ANDROID with the Google driver installed OK. Used this guide for that: http://www.teamandroid.com/2012/07/30/how-to-set-up-adb-fastboot-with-android-sdk/ However, CMD adb devices does not list the device.
Anyone alternately have a suggestion for changing the Build Property on this thing w/o needing Root?
Thanks for your help!
Chris
I also spoke with Coby tech support a few weeks ago and was informed that adb will not work with this particular model. Just an fyi for all those looking for rooting info for this tablet, a friend and I are starting to work on this issue and have no idea when we will get to the issue at hand. When we do, I will let you all know what the outcome is and will pass along this info when it comes available.

I was able to get ADB working on the MID7065.
First, I followed these instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1983470
That got the ADB driver installed in Windows, but the device still wasn't being seen. Then, I followed these instructions starting with the 5th paragraph: http://blog.fh-kaernten.at/wehr/?p=1182
That did the trick.
I'm very much looking forward to anyone reporting a successful root of this device.
Success!

Yes, I can see my device now. Thanks!
After this I successfully rooted my Coby MID7065 with UnlockRoot Pro v3.41 (free download) at this site http://www.unlockroot.com/download.html. Installed the program, run it and in about one minute it was done.
Thanks everybody and I hope it will help.
Alternate Root Method
If anyone figures out a root method for the Coby 7065 or 8065 other than by using UnlockRoot or UnlockRootPro, then please post it here.
I started installing UnlockRoot but the installer bombarded me with junkware. I quit the install and went back to the previous restore point in Windows to get rid of whatever it managed to dump on my PC. I also read the posting at "https://github.com/CunningLogic/BurritoRoot#readme" by the author of BurritoRoot, and it further made me wary of UnlockRoot.

I just got a dopo 7" tablet from a relative and for the life of me cannot get it to root. I have been at it since 3-4pm (its 11:10 now) and no matter what
apk or .bat rootkit, or windows root exe i have tried from old guides and some new ("can root ANY android device 2014!!!") to youtube videos.
Yes I have the correct driver thanks to vroot downloading it.
i have unknown sources checked
debugging checked
tablet never sleeps/screen never shuts off
have it plugged into laptop via the cable the tablet came with usb to micro
root master apk failed
suggested root-rk29 tab rootkit each step it tried it could not find any of the necessary files needed on my tablet
(even after 3 restarts and 3 different methods)
vroot will try to restore data like the programs steps shows but as soon as it says restore started it immediately says restore ended and it gives an X in the circle and wants me to retry (tried 4 times)
tried doomlordz v4 rootkit and same as other rootkit it says the files arnt found and does the alternative methods and SAYS its completed but root checker still says its not
tried key root master mentions something about a cloud program but never roots
superoneclick becomes unresponsive for 20mins and does nothing so i have to end task (some says it freezes their phone/tablet) but my tablet acts like nothing is happening
I have tried googling multiple times only to find results related to 9" version (i assume newer)
So if ANYone knows a 95% guaranteed program/guide or something I would very much like to see it cause I have about reached my limit of patience on this thing
Please keep the guide simple as I have 0 knowledge on rooting other than reading up why I would want it or the common steps which did not work obviously...
What version of android does it have, 4.1.1 or 4.2.2? I have the same tablet and have been trying for about 6 weeks to root it. Mine came with 4.2.2. I have read that the 4.1.1 version has been successfully rooted. First off, you said that root master suggested root-rk29 tab but it wouldn't work. The reason is that rk29 is for a rockchip SoC and the em63 has an amlogic 8726-mx SoC. I have tried just about every root method I can find, both manual, oneclick, apk, and Windows scripts with no luck. I am hesitant to try modifying some of the methods because if something goes wrong chances of recovering aren't good. As far as I know, there's no way to create a backup of the firmware without root. I have talked with tech support at DoPo and to get a copy of the firmware I have to send in a microsd and they will put a copy on it. Of course after rooting the warranty will be void and I will no longer be able to receive support, but I'm not too concerned with that. Anyway, for now it looks like the best shot I have at rooting this thing is to modify the firmware and flash it. When I get a copy of the Rom I'd be happy to give you a copy. If you find a way in the meantime to root it please let me know.
If anyone else has any ideas or if someone with the 4.1.1 firmware could provide a copy I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

yup 4.2.2 so in the end till i see a working method im giving this 1 to my younger sibling and getting the nexus 7... hopefully itll be an easier and less stressful time. hope you get it to work.
I figured it was the updated version. They seem to have patched the updated version so most root methods won't work. It's good from a security standpoint, but I wish they would provide a way to root if that's what you want to do. It's a tablet, not a phone so locking it into one provider isn't an issue. Anyway, I'm sure you'll be happy with the nexus 7. That's what I have and I'm very happy with it. There's tons of support and custom roms. Rooting it is super easy too. I used wug's toolkit and I had it rooted, did a nandroid backup and installed twrp recovery in about 30 min. If you do happen to root the em63, or get a copy of the 4.1.1 Rom, please let me know. If anyone else has any ideas, or anything, please post. Thanks.
Hope this helps! I got it!
I hope this helps the EM63 users!

I was able to root my Gigabyte em63 with Root Genius with no problems.
I'm trying to find if anyone has a rom or if someone has gotten twrp for this model. My internal memory became unmounted or something because my total space is 0bytes making it impossible to do anything. Boots up in factory everytime and I can't install any apps.
Anyone have any luck?

Envizen has the stock firmware for the EM63 posted on there site. I don't know if it will work on the Gigabyte branded tablet but it does work for the Apex branded one without a problem. Just Google search for the Envision website and look for the EM63.
I got this 13 inch tablet for displaying music PDF files.
It's got KitKat 4.4, and there's apparently no intention to update this from the manufacturer.
I'd like to run igigbook, but that app requires 5.0+. So I figure I can root this, then do the cm12 ...?
I've looked on compatible devices lists and can't find this device.
Anybody got a link or maybe just some advice?
Thx

I own one of these.
I found Kingo Root successfully roots it.
Unfortunately, no CM has been built for it.... yet. I plan to fix this.
Fair warning, though: do NOT remove anything child-mode-related yet, unless you have a backup of the system partition. It's basically an AOSP ROM, but they've tweakedwith the SYSTEMUI enough that straight-up removing it causes crach loops.
It's got an RK3188 chip, for the curious. Opened it to verify.

Great.
Ive learned the hard way! lol
Bit too late for me now, but i had a similar tab from smart telecom and i cant find any firmware for it, i rooted with kingroot and after removing all the child mode and disney crap, im having the same thing.
Ive started a thread, but im hoping i can find a patched firmware without all the bloatware and a newer android build if possible.
HI - Just came across this thread, pity I hadn't seen it earlier - I had/have rooted with King Root, which worked fine. Then set about deleting all the child-mode-related apps. Now I'm stuck with receiving "Unfortunately, the process com.android.systemui has stopped" nothing seems to fix it. Do you know where I might find the original ROM that I can restore, can't find anything on the manfactures website..
Any help, really appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Wayne,
I contacted the supplier who was going to contact the manufacturer, still have not found anything.
Someone else started a thread some time back and did the same thing as us.
I think someone was going to create a ROM for me, i will direct them to this thread.
Thanks for the update.
I had some success last night in resolving my issues with "com.android.systemui" - I managed to get into play store and reinstalled "Net Nanny for Android" as soon as the install had completed the error message went away and hasn't returned. The other "Kids" apps that I had deleted have not reinstalled, appears Net Nanny must have removed/broken something when I deleted it.
Would be still good to get a copy of the original rom for next time, better still to get an upgrade from 4.4.4 to something a little newer at least.
Anyway hoe that help to get you going again.
Wayne

Let me know how you get on, as I am still after a ROM image if i can find one.
Going to start researching all the possible ways to get a ROM image (in addition to just asking the manufacturer). I will first do a search, and then maybe post in the forums somewhere, but I am starting here:
http://www.theandroidhow.com/2014/06/how-to-dump-backup-any-android-rom.html
Did some research, and actually found that the androidhow article I linked in my last post was the most relevant. I followed the romdump script process and believe I have the rom image files.
The question becomes, are the image files most usable in their current form, or as flashable images?
Has there been any developments in this, or anything close to a ROM or even an update?

Not that im aware of, i just did what someone else suggested here and reinstalled netnanny off the app store.
At least its working again, but not terrific.
Oh, well I didn't have that problem. The guy I bought this streamachine off of already had it rooted and everything, i was just wondering if anything had been developed...4.4.4 is quite a bit outdated, and limited.
Clay,
Can you upload that ROM image that you made? I bought another ST13 and while I can get it into recovery mode, it still won't boot even after a factory data reset. My plan is to try recovering from the sdcard before I assume that what I have is a collection of spare parts.
My two others aren't rooted, and since we need them tonight, I don't dare mess with them right now.
Thanks,
Paul
can I get a copy?
I rooted my ST13 and now I'm having bluetooth problems. I'd like to restore back to the stock ROM. Can I have a copy of yours? Does it work?
THANKS!

I am also interested in this thread, anyone know about the bootloader?
???
So still no DISK IMAGE or ROM? I successfully rooted St1316 but can't connect to wifi. I left natnanny alone, but it now doesn't connect to ANY wifi networks. Tries then switches to either "saved" or "disabled". I can push some apps to the device via bluetooth file transfer app but don't know what's missing. Could this be a permission issue? I'm lost and stressed. Tried factory wipe. No luck. Open to suggestions. Help guys. This thing kinda sucked before I lost wifi. Now it's just a glorified digital photo frame that plays sound WAY too softly.
