[Q] i9300 text delay issue any help ? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

couple weeks ago i upgraded from my skyrocket to the i9300
so getting the phone i made sure it was wiped and whatever and rooted it the same day
it was all going fine..no lag issues no nothing...then about a week to 2 weeks after i realized that anytime the screen is off as in screen time out or i press the power button and turn it on back to text...
there is a text delay.... i would type n see the word come up where the autocorrect part is on the keyboard but nothing in the box im typing in
i would usually have to wait about 2 seconds sometimes up to 10 seconds after i backspaced everything for it to finally show
does anyone have this problem and can probably offer a solution to this ?
thanks in advance :good:

Responsiveness of WP7 on Mozart

Only one thing bothers me with my new Mozart.
The phone does not respond directly with my fingers if it is in locked mode.
I mean, if the phone is locked and someone calls, and i see it on the screen it has to be 2 seconds for the phone to respond to my fingers.
And if it is locked and i slide the screen to unlock it, if the next second i press an icon, the app doesnt start. I have to press it a couple of times. The system has 1 or 2 seconds delay from the moment that is unlocked, to respond immediately to the user.
After these seconds, when the device is unlocked, it responds directly to my fingers, as expected.
My rom is: RUU_Mozart_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.04_5.52.09.16_22.33 a.50_RELEASE
Is it a problem of the operating system or the device itself?
Thanks.
same problem here. I miss calls from time to time, because the screen does not react

Same problem with me, i have little freeze in locked mode.
HTC 7 Mozart Orange France.
I hope this will be resolved in the update that is coming at the end of the month...
Well, i can't confirm this one on my T-Mobile Germany Mozart.
It responds at once directly after sliding to unlock and after sliding and entering key too.
I have this same problem but it is not consistent. Sometimes it responds right away and others it takes ages.
I think it may have something to do with which apps are tombstoned but I am not certain.
I have the same problem, it is not consistant though. Sometimes its fine and somtimes I cant even answer the call at all because it does not respond to my fingers when pressing answer.

i've had a similar experience as well. i try to scroll up the 'lock' screen to answer the call but it doesn't go up high enough for me to tap the "answer" button. i eventually miss the call.
ive had that happen a few time myself, but ive learnt how to not miss these calls you just have to press the power buttong to turn it off and then on again and it seems to work like nothing ever happened
Same problem. T-Mobile Germany verison of the HTC 7 Mozart. The fun thing is:
Sometimes when entering my lock code it only doesn't respond to the "4". I once even deleted the next number again, and after that the "4" still didn't work. I had to hit it like 2-4 times... :/
Press Power botton to turn off and turn on again
I also got that problem... can't swipe or unlock screen sometimes..
Mostly occur when recive call..
Only way to turn off and turn on screen for work again...
No Problem at all!!!!!!!! Everythings fine........Maybe you are unlucky!!!!!Bad series or some things like that. Good phone me say....
No problem for me
Hi all
I have an Orange UK branded HTC 7 MOzart and have never experienced this problem.

Hard Reset
Try to Hard Reset the Phone. My Problem has gone after switching Roms. Now i have the exactly Rom which was shipped with the Phone and the Responsiveness Problem was gone. Anyhow, it takes some Seconds for the Phone to allow me to enter my PIN Code.
Maybe this is related to the problem?

I had same problem and searched on the web: lots of people say that is a hardware problem, but I don't think.
If, like me, you have the touchscreen perfect after the unlock, try to change rom (like others said).
In my experience, after changed rom with another official one, everything is smooth and perfectly responsiveness!!
Hope this can help someone!

I don't know about the one was installed when I bought the Mozart... Now I have the TMO_DE_1.28.111.03_Radio_5.52.09.16_22.33a.50U.
Found on this forum!
The one was originally installed should be German too (I bought the phone there...), maybe the previous one.
This one is smooth, fast and with long battery life...
(a pity it doesn't have italian language.. )
well, my 7 Mozart (Telstra) is going back to HTC... the right side of the screen is unresponsive when trying to unlock the device or touch buttons, such as dismissing a reminder. i'm also seeing phantom screen presses;, e,g, it starts opening different applications, goes back to home, etc. i suspect my issue is hardware related. looks like i'll be without it for 6-8 weeks...

Sorry for you and hope it take less than 6-8 weeks!

[Q] Phone Crashing

Yesterday my battery died half way through playing a game (not entirely unexpected, I'd been playing on my phone quite a bit that day and it still lasted 22-23 hours), I connected the charger that came with the phone and left it to charge while I got on with some uni work.
The phone vibrated to tell me the charge was complete so I disconnected the charger and turned the phone on as usual. After the samsung galaxy S2 splash screen, the screen lock appears and when I move it there are several error messages saying that various applications have had to stop (the main one seems to be TwLauncher but when I force close it, many others also force close). This continues for several seconds until the phone decides to restart itself and repeats the process ad infinitum until I can shut down the phone (I can manage this by not trying to get rid of the screen lock and just holding the power button until the menu appears).
I've had this phone a week (one of those days being today where it did not work at all) so it's still well within the return period but I was wondering if there is an obvious fix that I'm missing.
If not, I'll be ringing Samsung on Monday (I have coursework due for friday so I'll be devoting my samsung office hours time to that) and if they can't give me an easy fix I'll be ringing the place I bought it from and asking for an exchange.
So, has anyone else had similar issues and managed a simple fix?
Bump, I take it everyone else's phone is working then?
Giving this another bump in the hopes there's someone with a simple solution.
I don't want to have send my phone off and wait for the place to get stock.
there have been 2 firmware releases from samsung in the last couple of days, i assume you are running the latest firmware?
I can't even get the phone to stay on long enough for Kies to recognise it. It keeps restarting. Even when it was working I couldn't get Kies to work with it properly (I couldn't copy the contacts from the phone to the computer).
It's running the firmware it came with, but I can't check which version it is.
I was going to try flashing the new firmware via ODIN but I've been busy with coursework. Is this likely to solve the issue or will I just be giving the retailers ammo to reject my return?
go into recovery and do a factory reset

this is what I was looking for.
after googling, this sorted it out.
I just assumed download mode was the only other non-normal mode.
Thanks
Basic FAQs on the SGS1 forum mostly apply to SGS2 .Worth a look there before Google .

Samsung Galaxy S II Random Shutdowns

Hi, I've had my SGS2 for around 3 weeks now, and in that period I have had 2 random shut downs.
The first time it happened I was using the original firmware out of the box. The second time it happened (yesterday) I was using the latest firmware via Kies.
The phone is unlocked and unbranded from buymobilephones.net (UK), and I'm on the T-Mobile UK network.
The phone is NOT rooted and I am not overclocking.
Is my phone faulty or is this a software problem? Baring in mind this has only happened twice in the past 3 weeks.
backup data and factory reset would be my first step.
Followed by a return to the store .

Cheers, just did a factory reset. Should I ring Samsung to fix the phone (comes with 12 month warranty) or return it to the online retailer? Not sure what to do.
Just send it off to sammy

... 2 shut downs in 3 weeks?
It's not faulty.
Your contract is with the retailer not Samsung .
I would see if phone restarts again before returning it .
But would inform the retailer of the problem to be within 28 days .

I've owned several phones over the past 15 years and I've never had such problems before, even with my previous Android the Orange San Francisco. Seriously, if I have a £500 phone I don't expect it to shut down randomly even it it's only twice in 3 weeks. I've missed some important calls and texts because my phone has shut down without me knowing.

I think you mean two weeks ago.....
If it continues, you may have a faulty one.
Well I have the same issue, it's in my pocket, next thing when I push the power button the screen just stays black.
Have to hold down the power button to drop it and then restart it.
Sooo, I had this happen once when it was on the table which took the phone in my pocket out the mix.
In the end I tried the battery fix with some geckostrip (that rubber easy removable strip you use on the back of phones to stop them sliding)
I put the strip on the underside (opposite of the connections) and wrapped it around the back (facing the cover).
This makes for a VERY tight snug fit in the unit.
It has now been 2 weeks without one single shutdown...so as much as I thought "this must be software or hardware related", it looks like it very well may be "hardware related" on the battery front.
For those who still have this issue try what I did and let us know your findings.
Cheers
Sheldon
Update: Okay never mind on the battery thing, phone lasted 2 weeks but just blacked out again.....
I had the same problem for many months but it stopped after I uninstallrd dolphin hd browser. No idea if coincidence or not but read a few others with sgs2 and dolphin installed had same problem. Do you by chance have it installed?

I've actually experienced problems similar to this twice now with my SII.
First time was straight out of the box. I charged it up and then took it travelling with me. I kept taking it out of my pocket to find out it had turned off. I thought it was my fault with the power button being in a bit of a silly place. But then it turned off whilst it was lying on my desk or in my hand whilst I was using it. Whenever it turned back on again the battery usage history showed a big sudden drop (10+%) in battery level and then it would increase slowly for a while after. Spoke to O2-UK and they got me to do a software reset and then a hardware reset when it reoccurred, which didn't fix the problem either. They then did a next day replacement.
After I got the most recent update to TW I started to experience times when I'd come to unlock my phone but the screen would stay black. It would, however, give haptic feedback when I pressed the power button but not respond to touch. I recently did a software reset of my phone due to another problem (it kept thinking it was docking this time - but stopped on the day I took it into the O2 Shop) and haven't experienced this since.
For so expensive device I expect only 2 "legal" reasons to shut down while running stock ROM with no additional software or changed hardware (i.e. battery):
1. Battery went completly empty (or as empty as power saving settings allow)
2. I forced it to shut down via power button
If it shuts down on its own under this conditions, first doubt is faulty hardware.
And then it should be quickly replaced by provider/shop/wherever it came from.
Everything else might raise doubt in faulty piece of additional software.
Have had similar issues. Uninstalled the go weather app / widget and nothing since. Might just be a coincidence though.

So I've read about this "sleep of death" that sounds like the same thing as what this is.
It appears to affect a wide margin of Samsung devices over time.
One post suggested it was because WIFI activates while the screen is off and the device is in sleep mode, thus blaming the like of apps such as Juice Defender and WIFI managment built into gingerbread.
I have uninstalled gingerbread, enabled watchdog to monitor utilization (out of curiosity) and set the WIFI sleep mode to NEVER.
One day down without a issue, I'll see what happens over the next few weeks.

I heard that frequent shutdown/reboots happens with 2.3.6 release.
If you got it, better go back to 2.3.5 or earlier. Iit worked for me.
I have 2.3.4 and i get these problems once a month or so.
Wy OH has the same firmware but she gets a random shutdown once a week. We both have the 1900 Anker battery (not stock one) - weird. I am going to try a different ROm and see if it makes a difference.
same issue but after i have deleted à few apps the issue was gone...?

[Q] HELP! Blank Screen! Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 GTP7510MA

My galaxy tab has been working great until about a week ago when I was using it and the screen just went blank. It is still on because it is backlit and the touch screen still works and I can hear the sounds and it vibrates but there is no display. I have searched every and found no fix! I spent 20 minutes on the phone with a Samsung rep and they were no help whatsoever. Id like to avoid sending my tablet in for repair.
My tablet is rooted but is still running the stock rom.
PLEASE HELP! Thanks.
I think there's a loose contact in there somewhere. Possibly the LCD as the digitizer seems to respond
Thanks for the reply. I gave in and battled two customers support reps the first of which hung up on me while trying to transfer me within the first 5 minutes. If it's not a hardware issue and anyone else has a fix ill be checking this. If not then I'm probably gonna send it in for repair.
Probably some moron applied pressure on the screen on the units when it comes in bundle order, like when you press an LCD for too long it creates a rainbow? most cases it just dies.

Hi guys, I wonder how did the problem was fixed. I´m having a similar problem with a 8 months tab. After 02 weeks turned off, when I turned it on the screen came up with reddish noise (like a TV without signal) e turned to blank right after. I´ve charged the battery during the night and tried again. The image came garbled and turned again as before going blank just after. Trying to reset and hard reset produced no result.
As I bought this tab in USA and am in Brazil now no service rep was keen to take it back.
It seems to me being a hardware problem (a bad conection may be??). I´ve seen some videos on you tube how to desassembly it (does not seem much difficult). Would you, guys, think is worthfull? Send it back to USA going to cost some money and problably months of time...

[Q] Galaxy S2 Touch Screen isn't working bottom buttons are responsive?? Help!

Hi everyone, hope you can help me beacause im at my witts end.
In the last year, my galaxy s2's screen has occasionally stopped responding, the os was still running and everything so it wasnt frozen, my touch screen just simply stopped working. Only way to fix it was to hit the back of the phone and do a battery reset. This issue started poping up more and more, and now it won't respond.
Some info you might want to know:
Model: GT-I9100M
Age:~2 1/2 years old
No custom roms/kernels have ever been installed, has always run off the stock.
Never been dropped or had water on it (I took very good care of it)
The nav bar at the bottom (back/search/options/menue) and hardware buttons all work. Everything above the screen no longer works.
What iv done:
Iv reset the phone, did a bettery pull for the night, fully charged it, looked at the board and checked all the connections (all good). Would flashing a custom rom/kernel be something to try next? I read in a forum that someone had a similar issue to me and did that, but it didnt help.
Has anyone had a similar issue with their touchscreen? Why would the bottom nav bar work but no the rest of the screen? Could it be locked somehow? If it is.. how would I unlock it?
Thanks alot guys..
