Hi all,
I've got quite a strange situation... my Samsung Galaxy S3 from Telstra in Australia (GT-I9305T) hasn't been able to boot into recovery for a while (it stuck on the Samsung Boot screen) and now just booting my phone regularly gets me stuck on the same place. I've also turned off USB Debugging because I seemed to be having problems with charging my phone previously and it seemed to fix my problems, placebo or not.
I want to try and re-flash firmware via Odin but I can't figure out if I can turn on USB Debugging while my phone is off (perhaps via terminal/console commands?). If anyone's got any ideas on how to un-brick my phone you would be an absolute god-send. Thanks!
Can you put it in Download mode (Menu+Down Vol+Power) and just use Odin for flashing the new ROM? That would be the same as when phones are first flashed/rooted etc. I don't recall turning on USB debug until later when I was using TitaniumBU...
USB debug is only used in android, not in recovery or download mode. So reboot in download mode and use Odin.

Hi All,
I am having an issue with my S4 that when I plug them into my computer I get USB device not recognized. I have searched the forum for the past 2 days trying all kinds of different solutions the major one was changing my USB/charging port board on my phone.
I need to ODIN my device to an MJ7 image. At first I got the error and did a factory reset through safestrap recover. Still got the error so I did an advance wipe of every option. (Looking back shouldnt have done that) That took away my recovery, but I can get to download mode, but its not detected by my computer to use ODIN with. So I am stuck without a custom recovery without the ability to boot into anything.
Here is what I have tried so far:
1. Reinstall/uninstall drivers, reinstall/uninstall kies.
2. Changed USB ports on computer.
3. Changed USB cables
4. Changed computers from Win 8 x64 to Win 7 x64.
5. Changed computer to my MACbook using Heimdall.
6. Changed USB charging port board on my phone.
7. Tried everything again. *Still doesnt detect it*
Any ideas that I havent done already, or how to fix? I do have nandroid backup of my ROM, but dont have a custom recovery to flash it.
Cant ODIN back cause its not detected by my computer. Thanks in advance for your help.
Is USB debugging still checked on phone? You must use the USB cable provided with phone...

Thanks for the reply. I cant select USB debug on my phone because my phone does not boot into the main OS, it is stuck at the samsung custom padlock screen. The USB debug option was on when the OS was installed though. My phone will only boot into stock recovery and into download mode. I tried to use the original USB cable provided with the phone as I read this could be the problem, but I tried 4 other ones too and phone still gets detected as "Unknown Device" in device manager, so ODIN cant even see phone in download mode to restore. I have tried to install KIES and the Samsung Mobile phone drivers 1.5.x.x drivers. Just read somewhere where someone had this issue and installed Samsung mobile phone driver v1-4-6-0 so I am trying that now.

Tried Samsung Mobile phone drivers version 1.4.6.0 and still the same outcome "USB device not recognized". I went down to a local electronics store and bought two different brand microUSB data cables. Tried them both along with my original one from samsung, and still the same result. Any other ideas??
Anyone else have any ideas? Thinking of sending it in and having it JTAG'ed back to stock. Can anyone recommend any services? Heard mobiletechvideos is good.

Hi, first post here.. so Hi
I have an issue with my S3, i can't get my pc to detect it in download mode at all, no reaction from windows.. if didnt plug it in to the pc at all, it worked once, and it took me reinstalling drivers for hours to get it working, this is when i first rooted the phone using the cf-root method..
When i wanted to install a custom rom a few months ago i discovered it went back to not getting detected and has stayed that way
it's as if i've not connected it to the pc at all, i'm using a rear usb port, with the original cable, below is a short list of what i've tried
Tried 3 different cables
Used a brand new install of windows 7 with SP1
tried various Samsung ADB Drivers
Tried every single USB port, front and back on my pc
Used as many different USB Debugging options as possible
I noticed that when i turn on USB debugging after enabling developer mode, nothing changes on the pc, if i remember rightly my S2 made windows install the adb driver when i turned USB debugging on..
Any help is appreciated with this, never had any of this happen with my S2 lol :/ i've been messing around on and off the last few months with it, thankfully there's Mobile Odin and also Nandroid backups for me to fall back on
Pulling the battery with the cable plugged in while my S3 was in download mode is what fixed this for me...
With the usb cable plugged into the PC but NOT the phone, go into download mode.
Connect cable to the phone, then pull the battery out.
Once windows detects the phone and installs drivers it's safe to put the battery back in.
Phone will be detected by Odin/ CyanogenMod installer and so on.
Why in hell having the battery in stops windows detecting the phone in download mode is beyond me.. unless samsung did it on purpose? lol..
Installed CM 11 using the above method and it went perfectly, but i do have to use the above method whenever i want to flash something using my pc, so it's more of a work around than a fix..
Fix was found on YouTube of all places! hope this helps anyone else
Hello,
I have very odd issue with a S3 I got from my neighbour.
He brought this phone to one of those famous "Phone" Unlock shops here in Vienna,AT.
Well this guys rooted and made something wrong that even Samsung Update said it was very bad modified rom.
So I flashed the first the orignial Open Austria 4.1.2 Version and then 4.3 from December.
1.) I9300XXEMG4_I9300ATOEMG2_I9300XXEMG4 + Factory Reset
2.) I9300XXUGND1_I9300ATOGNC1_I9300XXUGNA8 + Factory Reset after flash
It start normal and when i connect it via usb to my PC it makes sound but MTP is not coming up on the phone neither the USB Debugging even tho I enabled that.
My S3 is not having this issue when I connect it Kies3 and device manager will detect it. Same cable, same usb port same drivers.
I also already tried to set URAT/USB *#7284# and checked also the setting of *#9090# but nothing wrong same as mine.
What else I could check ..I mean when i start it in download mode odin will detect it..if I start recovery mode nothing happens with seem the ADB is broken as well.
Any Ideas?
Thanks in advance
No one has an idea?
Nobody has an idea?
I tried flashing CWM recovery onto my AT&T Galaxy S4 and because my phone does not connect to my computer via USB for some reason (the phone charges and my computer recognizes that there's a device in, but I cannot actually do anything with it) I flashed it with Flashify. I rebooted into recovery mode, and I got slapped with the "Unauthorized software has been detected on your phone!" message. So I tried rebooting, and I got stuck in a recovery mode bootloop with the same message. Eventually, I realized if I just go into download mode and reboot by pressing the volume down key, it doesn't try to go into recovery mode. I have already endlessly researched my USB problem, and yes, I DO have USB debugging on. ODIN recognizes that I have an external device in as well, but I haven't tried flashing anything onto my phone with it because I don't want to brick my phone because the connection to my PC is faulty. I'm using the charger that came with the device as my USB drive, so that's not faulty either. I know rooting my phone did this, and I'm pretty sure it's because I missed a step. I used this tutorial to root my phone:
[droid views dot com] /root-att-galaxy-s4-sgh-i337-android-4-4-4-kitkat-firmware-i337ucufnj4/ (I'm not allowed to post links yet, so fix the URL if you're gonna have a look)
When I flashed the I337_NC1_Stock_Kernel, my phone refused to go into download mode and I couldn't flash the I337_NJ4_Stock_Kernel as a result. I'm pretty sure that's what caused it, but I have no idea how to fix it. I'm not an expert with my phone and, despite almost soft-bricking my phone via a corrupt CWM .zip, I'm not a newbie at this either. If I could figure out how to fix this problem, I wouldn't have to worry about throwing myself into a bootloop because I can just use ODIN. I was a sitting duck before download mode rescued me, so I'd like some help as to how I can accomplish this. Any and all help is appreciated. I am 100% certain my device is the right version for that tutorial, I wouldn't try to root my phone without checking all of the simple things first.
Hi, guys!
I'm trying to save my GT-N8000 for a while and nothing! I have USB Debugging disabled, my Recovery get stuck on TeamWin screen, and I'm able to use Download Mode, but my device is not recognized by ADB neither Fastboot.
I've tried a lot of solution the last months, but nothing worked until now. My last shot was to fill Odin3 3.10 with firmware files for PIT, BL, AP, CP and CSC. It finished the process successfully, but it didn't changed anything at all, my GT-N8000 still stuck on boot and I can't get into Recovery and the device is not recognized by ADB neiter Fastboot.
I have all drivers installed on Windows and it recognize my device each time I connect and shows that all drivers are successfully installed.
Any ideas, guys? I'm really exhausted and frustrated! Thank you all in advance!
GT-N8000 Not started, Not detected by PC... even Battery is removed.
I have a worst problem, it began after i upgraded to kitkat, but works for few months, and USB is not debugging enabled, by mistake...
until i forgets it on the power fro four hours, then i discovered that it is rebooted and rebooted and rebooted and stuck on the samsung icon, i took it for samsung to fix it they told it is motherboard, and has a price more than the device itself, so i took it from them, and tried to start it, it is failed to start after... i removed the cover and removed the battery for a minute, useless, i couldn't turn it again, i did all the things on the internet, useless.
The PC is not detecting the device.
The device is not starting on.
the battery is removed many times, and plugged again.
Even i tried to charge the battery using its poles by a direct charger on it, while it is un-plugged from the motherboard.
The device can't be start or give any power on the screen...
Kindly help... Thanks in advance.
