[Q] What am I doing wrong ? - Galaxy Ace S5830i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I dont know what am I doing wrong. Let me start from the all over again. I have cwm 5.x (dont know the exact version) and cm7. Now i dont know how to install cwm to be my default recovery so i can only acces it when i enter my default recovery mode and go to install update.zip and aelect cwm 5.x, than i am in cwm recovery. At first i wipe data/factory reset after that i wipe cache and last i go to advanced and wipe dalvik. Than i go to install zip from sd and select cm7.zip a it says (no matter what cm i had) assert failed getprop something like that and there i loose my mind so i dont know what am i doing wrong. Can some1 make a detailed noob guide for me. My mobile phone is samsung galaxy ace s5830i.

Check if you have downloaded the correct cm7 zip for ur device. And check if that file is broken or corrupted.

You had to change your kernel to make the cwm permanent. Use Hell Locks kernel.
If you get assert failed error you are trying to flash the file to the wrong device!!! Are you sure you have a S5830i and flashing the correct CM7 for our device? CM7 for S5830i
And be sure you have mounted System partition before flashing...

And if you format /system the ROM gives the getprop error. (If you did format /system too)

[Q] stuck after boot after installing theme ICS

Hi everyone,
I've installed ICS domination theme on my SGS2 with litening rom 6.1 installed on it.
After the installation, i've got a boot loop with a strange pop up which is
" Select an action
----------------------------------------------
Select an application for the USB device."
So I've wiped user data from the CWM recovery and I tried to install back my insecure rom (litening rom) with odin and also the original one.
The phone reboot well but i still get the pop up and i can't do anything ...
Is there a way to format and start from scratch or a another solution to remove this pop up ?
PS: i don't mind losing all my data.
PS2: sorry for the picture's bad quality (i took from my webcam ...)

Thanks for the quick reply !
I said i don't mind (or care) about losing data.
I don't have the mount storage and any format system (otherwise i would have already tried it ) on CWM ... I only get :
-reboot system
-apply update from sdcard
-wipe data/factory reset
-wipe cache partition
My android system recovery is 3e version

[Q] Flashing normally with CWM?

Okay so I'm like a real noob that doesn't even know anything about programming and all those stuff.
So I'm interested in this so-called ICS ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1465401
which people say that it's just a theme and wanna install it on my Galaxy Ace.
In the thread he says :
" -Do a 3x wipe dalvik cache
-Flash normally through CWM "
I don't get what he's talking about, so I hope someone kind can explain it to me.
Sorry for this noob and easy question but I hope you can understand my condition as I'm new to everything. Please don't flame me =)
If u have root, put the Rom on your SD Card
Boot Into Recovery, there u can find a option to clear/wipe dalvik cache make this 3 times.
Afther that install the rom with the option install zip from Sdcard.
CWM means Clockworkmod - a Recovery System.
If its your first time to install a new Rom, read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034145

[Q] HELP: Omega 9.1 boots into CWM

I'd really appreciate some help guys, I've searched everywhere but can't seem to find answers.
I had Cyanogen Mod 9 rooted on my phone, however, I decided to install Omega instead, I installed it but I can't get on it! Everytime I install zip and reboot, it goes back to CWM Recovery!
The procedure was:
-deleted all files in internal SD
-Reboot into CWM Recovery
-Wipe data,cache,dalvik
-install zip from sd card
and now im stuck
Please help, and apologies if any noob mistakes were made

You'll lose all your data but do a factory reset and wipe your system in addition to what you've already done and re flash the rom. FYI always have a nandroid backup around before flashing. It's time consuming but saves you a lot of grief in the long run

Factory reset(wipe) is an option in cwm(3rd from above) wipe and reflash the rom and let it boot, this can take 10min
1st check md5 .. it will show u wether its bad download or nt ... and then do this
go into cwm and to wipe data\factory reset wipe cache wipe dalvik and insll rom ..
omega 10 is up so better try omega 10 as its new rom :

Factory reset is on the main Cwm screen. You can wipe system through the 'mounts and storage' option

How would put it into my internal SD if I can't transfer the file because I can only boot into Recovery or Download mode? Do I just Odin it straight in via the PDA option?
If you connect your phone with the PC while in recovery you should be able to use adb commands
Put the rom file into the adb folder than try
Code:
adb devices
now you should see any cryptic combination of letters and numbers in the next row
(if you see a empty row... that wouldn't be nice^^)
then do:
Code:
adb push yourromfile.zip /sdcard/yourromfile.zip
than try flashing again the new file
dont forget to do a full wipe, cache wipe, dalvik wipe, the common procedure^^
PS:
If you don't know about adb, it is installed with the android sdk, but you can download it seperately
place the ADB folder somewhere on you system hd, maybe directly to C:\
the open cmd and type
cd C:\ADB\
now you're able to use the above commands
You can put it on an external sd and flash it from there...

Thank you, all of you... I will try this tomorrow and tell you guys how it goes!
Thank you so much EVERYONE, It all worked out, seems like the original file was corrupted, now running omega 10 smoothly!!!!!!!

[q] pardus rom instillation

Lads i just installed the pardus rom for the s3 and it wont go any further than the booting screen.
can anyone help??
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240291
do it again read the thread .

Reboot into recovery and make sure you do a proper factory and cache reset....also after flashing the rom dont forget to set permissions ....and pay attention to all the installation instructions on the paradus rom page
Good luck !!
trouble flashing the rom
Hi, I have a problem.. I have tried to the fullest to follow the instructions for flashing the pardus rom for my galaxy s3, but when I enter the recovery mode, it does not display the options mentioned in the instuctions, there is no option for the nandroid backup and there is no option to 'open from a zip file' or whatever it was..
The options I do get are:
reboot system now
apply update from ADB
apply update from external storage
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
apply update from cache
and I have tried all of them repeatedly but none of them worked in order to find the pardus zip file or anything so all I can do after wiping the phone is use the old factory reset data.. I dont know if my particular phone is special, but there must be some others having this same problem...?
Please help, I really want to try out the Pardus rom. Thanks
you still have the stock android recovery buddy! you need to flash the latest CWM recovery or either philz recovery to flash a custom rom!
