I just got my Telstra branded Lumia 800 back from Nokiacare after warranty service and they have upgraded it to WP7.8.
Problem is that I have a backup from 7.5 that I took just before sending it away and I cannot restore it back over 7.8. So what I am looking for is the Telstra ROM image that matches my backup:
These are the details I copied off my phone BEFORE I sent it away.
OS Version: 7.10.8773.98
Firmware: 1750.0805.8773.12220
Hardware Revision Number: 112.1402.2.4
Radio Software Version: 1.7.50.08
Radio Hardware Version: 8255
Bootloader version: 7.41.0.0
Chip SOC: 0.74.2.1
Also, what is the best way to flash 7.5 rom over 7.8?
Nokia Lumia 710/800 downloader (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1665821)
or
Nokia Care Suite
or other?
Can anyone help me?
thanks,
Eamon

This is the worst thing on LUMIA.
There is no way to restore your phone like an iPhone.
Your mail, contact, Documents; anything connected to LIVE account will be restored automatically.
Everything else ( Photos, music, Applications, SaveGames ) will be lost. You will have to re-install/resync once again. (SORRY for the savegames )
So if this is the only thing you are concerned about, don't bother rolling back. Enjoy the 7.8

Thanks for the reply, I was planning to flash back to a stock 7.5 rom, then use zune to restore my backup which would have given me my sms's and saved games, then upgrade again to 7.8 expecting the sms's and save games to survive the 7.8 upgrade. In any case, I've been using it now for a week and have it setup the way I want again so don't want to go through the process again so I guess this thread can be closed.

Restoring a backup using Zune puts the phone back into the same state as when the backup was taken, sms's, saved games, settings...everything. Problem was that I couldn't restore a backup of my phone taken before I sent it for service when it had 7.5 on it over the returned phone because they had upgraded it to 7.8 during the service. If I could flash it back to 7.5, then I could have used the Zune's restore functionality to get my phone back to its exact same state as before I sent it for service. I had then assumed (maybe incorrectly) that upgrading to 7.8 would not wipe my sms's and saved games, maybe I am wrong about that as I never when through the 7.5 -> 7.8 upgrade myself.
Just to be clear, I don't have my old sms's or saved games on my phone anymore as I wasn't able to source a 7.5 rom in time to try the process above and now I have built up a bit of history on this phone so I've given up on the older stuff.

Try a different radio, eg 1.65.28.25. Works very well, and low power consumption to boot.
use other radio rom
I had the same problem.
Many noises, people on the other side couldn't hear me as well as dropping line.
I also tried different combination in spl/rom/radio (also restoring original spl/rom/radio).
I solved by sending phone to service reparing (warranty).
I don't know exactly what they did since ther was no physical repair but they said they only upgraded something (which sounds strange to me since ther's no official upgrade for my country from HTC) but now it works fine.

So, what's the build number of ROM and also radio number? If it is one not on the board, any chance of dumping the ROM and posting it?
i tried with 1.5xx roms, 1.65.28.25 etc. and still have the problem.....

Date rom: 10/30/07
Radio version: 1.58.16.27

It seems to be the "standard" configuration...
But now on the splash screen there's no more "Niki pro" trace...D 1.31 as it used to be.
ok... i again tried several configurations and also flashed the complete original rom. the error still is there what can i do now? is there any possibility to format the whole phone except the bootloader?

The radio, SPL and ROM cover the entire phone's OS. The official HTC WWE release 2.09.405.1 has all three in it. Disable the Hardspl (if other than HardSPL 1.22) by flashing the sspl, then flash this ROM. This will return the phone to original state. You might need to do this if you need to send the phone back for warranty service.
I'm going to send my phone to service again because I got my problems back...because I definetly think I got some "hardware" problems...
If I shake my phone some metallic noises can be heard inside, did you try something similar?
any news on this topic? i still cant use my niki.... im still receiving massive intereferences when calling since my flashing orgy. how to put it back to a fully OEM state without any mods?
nothing? will i really have to send my phone to the service ..... please not, i damaged one of the guarantee seels (back of the phone, right to the camera) mit the pen once....

it must be radio issue - please try to flash a complete rom+radio, flash from microSD this time, rename the nbh file to NIKEIMG.nbh, enter bootloader and flash.
*push* still not working
Ok, so I used to actually mess about with my phone a while back and I can't remember what I did and don't know any of the new stuff so am hoping you lot can help out a bit.
What I have:
os version: 5.2.21895
manila: 2.5.20142924.3
rom: LEON v3.0 WWE
Rom date: 22/06/2010
Radio: 2.12.50.02.2
Protocol version 15.40.50.07U
Phone Facts: T8585, virgin mobile (uk).
What I want:
Regular rom, or a decent one to let android run. I won't be using this windows rom.
Android, either on the SD or on the RAM(?). Hopefully on the RAM.
I'm not looking to constantly play around with it again, but this rom is killing the battery for some reason so I want to get rid and want to put on Android. Oh ye I currently have android on the sd but I can't call, it has a weird sound, I put on HSPL 2.08 or whatever but didn't help.
So basically I'd like to ask for help to remove the current leon rom and to put on Android. Any links will be much appreciated.
Thanks.
So what are you trying to do :
''Remove the Leo rom and put ANdroid'' means to flash android, that also means no more Windows.
If you want to change to HSPL you have to be on SPL .2.10 or lower.
So it would be good to know: SPL version, or HSPL (you did not specify), you want to have winmo+android or just android.
Didn't realise I could just put android on by itself till a bit ago, I've decided to just put android on which will remove the windows component anyway
following a tutorial now so ok with it. Thanks for the response.
Hi
I have a htc sorround windows phone from AT&T. It was impossible to upgrade to NODO before, I got error and NODO is not installed. Now I want to upgrade to latest WP7 7.5 (mango). How do I do that with my phone?
I tried to connect to zune, it shows my phone is up to day v7.0 (7008). I tried to do some trick to get update but it doesnt work.
So I stuck with old WP7 and cant upgrade to Mango. Could you please help me? I can up rom or do anything to upgrade this phone.
os version: 7.0.7008.0
FW revision no.: 2250.09.10307.502
HW revision no.: 0003
Radio sofware version: 5.51.09.06_22.30.50.09H
Radio hardware version: A.26.0.D4
Bootloader version: 1.3.2250.7(111288)
Chip SOC version: 2.2.5.0
Thank you
just got AT&T Surround from my friend last night and was crazy like you in upgrading to Mango, but now I have already been to Mango
Belows are what I have done with my phone and you can follow at your own risks
1- Download this original Nodo rom (7390) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=3197JKWZ
2- Bring the phone into bootloader mode (Shut down, Volume down+Power button). Install the downloaded .exe file with Admin previlege on Windows 7 when the phone is already in bootloader mode
3- Open Zune with Internet connect, It will report that you are up to date although you are on 7390
4- On the phone, remove ticks on Settings/Cellular/Data. Turn off Wifi. Tick to "Use cellular data to find update" in Phone Update
5- On Zune, click to any other rows, ie. "Do more on the web" above Updates
6- On Zune, back to Updates. During it is checking, turn off all internet connections on your PC (Wifi, LAN...). You may have 7 seconds to do these
7- Right after turning off all connections on PC, you may have 5 seconds to turn on Wifi on your phone (it already had a known Wifi and you should make this setting ready first)
8- On Zune and phone, Update will appear. Turn on Internet connection on PC, then click Update on Zune
9- It will bring you to 7392, then 74.., then 7720 (Mango)
10- Done
I have done successfully with Vietnam Viettel SIM inside
Actually, I don't know why we need such a crazy trick to keep our phone up-to-date. Like Iphone, all trends is to mainstream users who don't need to deeply understand such technology tricks. Iphone is really easyto use for any people, and its update process is also really simple (plug the cable and Itunes do it for you or now is OTA)
Windows phone also have objectives to bring easy to use to users but with such trick above, i don't think is can be called "easy to use". I myself have read a lot about this "cable trick to upgrade" but fails a lot
Good luck !!!
Strange. Every one of my updates; pre NoDo, NoDo, Security, Mango Beta, Mango Beta2, Mango, Mango Beta Cleanup and two HTC Firmware updates, have gone smooth as silk. Maybe users should not try to undermine the system that Microsoft went through a lot of effort to create.
DFT Mango ROM
I mucked around with my surround trying to do the legit upgrade path but keep the chevron unlock and could not get it to go I was lucky enough that my surround supported the HSPL/RSPL found in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195647
once that was installed I was able to flash the DFT Mango ROM in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255129
Now I have my surround on mango and unlocked. Everything works perfectly the only thing I noticed is that my reception always shows 1 bar even though my data is fine, and I did several test calls and everyone can hear me fine. All in all I am happy and the flashing is way faster the going to mango via the upgrade path.

Anyone else here have the same model? How about other models with "update available showing on this site - have you been able to Zune update yours yet or am I misinterpreting what Nokia's meaning is?
Thanks!

All phones are probably not updated at once, but the disconnect trick should make the update available to you immediately. Did mine an hour ago without any problems. First got the OS update, and then got another with the Nokia specific updates (with wifi-tethering).
Ive been havin problems tryin to find my product code as its not on the back of the sim holder, and ive been havin probs gettin NCS to work so was wondering if anyones got other ideas on how i can find it.
Ill try the discon trick as well see if i get any joy, but im still waitin for the update myself.
however im glad the update is finally being rolled out after much talk about it

Thanks - so far the disconnect trick isn't working either; tried about 2 minutes ago.. Sounds like it's pretty close though!
nodo works fine you need right timing
I have the same product code. I received the update with the disconnect trick. Try harder, you can do it
everyone is talking about "the disconnect trick", but what is it for the ones who don't know it??
You hit Update in Zune, and after 2 seconds you disconnect you computer from the internet. Do that a couple of times untill it finds the update, then reconnect to the internet and install
This method of update erases any content?
Thanks
I have an Unlocked / UnBranded Lumia 800 and I just got the update in Zune without any disconnect trick. Plugged it in and it said update was available. First update (8112) has just finished and its picked up another 8773 update which is installing now.

Quickest way is to contact Nokia Care and ask for it, they should be able to look it up by your IMEI number (dial *#06#).. You can also follow @NokiaHelps and ask them to follow you so they can send you the code in a Direct Message. Do not post your IMEI in public, EVER!

Nor me. Can't get the disconnect trick to work either.
Unbranded Lumia 710, direct from Nokia. You'd think these would be the first handset to be updated?
I didn't have the Zune update either so I had to manually install the updates via http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737907
The disconnect trick probably only forces the Zune server cache to refresh so you can actually check again. You can only check for an update once in a 24hour period. If you check again in the same time you will get a result from the server cache which is obviously the same as before.
While the Nokia site may say the update is available that means the update is made available to the Zune update system. It may take some time for the update to actually propagate to your device at which time you get the notification on the phone.
Checking and finding the update on Zune without the notification is more luck that wisdom
The trick with forcing the update through Zune is Timing, You can try as many times as you like until you time it perfectly, Roughly two seconds after hitting update disconnect from internet, Can be frustrating but stick with it. :fingers-crossed:

Tried Solution 1 and by the 4th time ... now I'm updating my Lumia 800
Edit:
Completed with OS Version: 7.10.8112.7 (10 Steps in total)
Click on Zune->Setting->Phone->Update but Zune stated no more update
Applied Solution 1 again.
... now updating (as I'm typing) to OS Version: 7.10.8773.98
Edit:
Btw, in your excitement to update ... you click update button and forget to turn on your wifi (internet connection) on your pc ... you have to repeat Solution 1 again as the Update Notification will disappear after the error message.
My Lumia still updating ...
Edit:
Completed with OS Version: 7.10.8773.98 (9 Steps in total) but cannot do verification as Zune proceeds to the next update which is Nokia update.

Thanks the above method worked for my Lumia 800 in the UK!
I had a reliable debranded Mozart which has been unlocked by Orange in the UK and was running the ansar rom. It has accepted many updates in the post (post debranding) via Zune.
Unfortunately the 7.10.8112.7 update was problematic with error codes C1010007 and then C101002E.
I am left with a useless phone. I have done a factory reset to no avail.
The phone will boot into wp7.5 and sometimes holds for a few minutes before rebooting. Other times it gets into a loop while booting and ends up vibrating 7 times.
Any ideas anyone?
Is a fresh rom likely to help and if so which one?
I am currently showing:
OS 7.10.8107.79
Firmware 2250.21.51201.401
HW Rev 0004
SPL 5.12.2250.1
Thanks in advance
An Update
I have now dne a successful factory reset. Achieved this by leaving the battery out over night. I have been here before and am pretty sure that I will struggle to apply the above update.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Like many other Users of that fu**ed Phone !
Iv got 2 of that Mozarts, one with the reboot and second without.
Its a Hardware Problem. Both Phones have the same ROM , changing Batteries ,changing SDCard, no Matter
it stays; the first reboots , the second never...
Update on Rebooting
Here is an update of my rebooting issue:
Following a factory reset (battery left out overnight) the phone is not longer rebooting PROVIDED THAT ID DO NOT CONNECT TO A WIRELESS NETWORK OR ATTEMPT TO APPLY AN UPDATE VAI ZUNE.
I am also able to get into the bootloader (spl5.12.2250.1) and establish a USB connection.
I do not want to mess with rolling back the bootloader as that seems to be a very high risk undertaking.
My suspicion is that a fresh rom installation may sort the problem as it only appeared after applying an update.
So can anyone suggest options for updating to a new reliable rom which will not consume excessive battery life - or at least point me in the right direction for one which is compatible with my current spl.
Thanks in advance.

Dear,
It seems that during update you phone might have low battery or update is interrupted.
You can install offical rom containing 201 search in file factory.
Otherwise go with the below, but you will need to downgrade your spl which is a lengthy process.

Thanks for your reply adeebulrehman
1. In your opinion, what are the merits of each of the two roms you suggest?
2. Can you suggest where I download the official rom safely?
3. Can you point me in the right direction for some safe and reliable spl downgrade instructions?
