This RILJ wakelock on the dialer seems to be impossible to remove. I've tried everything from disabling all apps, turning off the phone and turning it back on with airplane mode, TWO factory resets, turning off all GPS and location services, and even shutting off my mobile data. I even did all of those steps at once and to no avail. I'm running stock right now but I seriously can not use this phone when this wakelock is disrupting my phone every damn second. I don't know if this is the right section to post this, but is anyone else experiencing this issue? Is there even hope? I've tried what feels like everything. I feel like this will drive me crazy to the point where I will just exchange the phone and claim battery problems. Again, sorry if this is the wrong section to post this in.

Percentage I am not sure. Count is 47 sec at x1136 (usually around 1000-2000).

I'm having the exact same issue. I really dislike HTC phones, I've been dealing with bull**** problems similar to this on my HTC Sensation XE and One X for the past few days and it's annoying the crap out of me.
Anyway, I'm having this problem on my HTC Sensation XE, I've tried several roms already (4.3, 4.2, 4.0.3) and even flashed RUU to get it to run stock ICS rom with Sense, and all of them have the exact same problems. They all have RIJL wakelocks caused by either the Phone or the Dialer. I did everything (same as you did) including disabling Google Service Framework services etc, none of them helped.
Even in airplane mode, the RILJ wakelock continues to run. It drains my battery and it pisses me off. I've tried asking for help by sharing my BetterBatteryStats dump and did everything that others have suggested, on ALL the roms I've tried. None of them helped.
I even tried flashing different firmware, radios and ril for my phone. None of them made the problem go away.
At this point, I'm thinking it's probably a hardware problem with my phone.

Well, yes it doesn't have anything to do with the brand of the phone itself. It's just that based on my experience, all the HTC phones I've used have had RILJ wakelock issues. I've tried different custom roms and they all shared the same problems. My Sensation XE and One X had RILJ wakelocks since day 1.
My Huawei U8800 and Xperia Z had no problem whatsoever. So it leads me to believe it's some sort of hardware issue with HTC phones, which isn't surprising considering there are many.

Seems like your system files might be corrupted. Wipe system partition from fastboot or cwm then reflash your rom. Any time I had weird stuff happen on a rom, I wipe the system then it goes away. Hope this helps you get rid of this issue. Good luck!

Doesn't work, just wiped system, cache and dalvik, then flashed rom and sod's still happen.

I had this problem on stock and every rom I tried (this was actually the reason I unlocked) I installed wakelock app from the market. I set it on partial wakelock. I think it keeps phone from going into deep sleep. It worked for me. I think it may make battery life a bit worse but having to pull battery sucks. Since I also have the issue on stock I am prob sending it in on warranty

So you've had SODs since you got the phone? Wakelock seems to work, but kills the battery.
For anyone who does NOT have SODs what modem/radio are you using?
Yes had them since I got the phone. Wakelok fixed it for me. Battery life is not horrible. It still last me like 14 hrs moderate use. I have tried radios and everything else I could thing of. Think mine is hardware related. That is why I am sending it in. I was surprised to find out it was still under warranty
I've just noticed that when mine shuts down, it gives a green notification first, then when I try turning the screen it, it reboots.
Unfortunately, my phone is out of warranty, I bought it used
SODs still happen in airplane mode.
Try wakelock and post if that fixes it.
Call Motorola directly. I bought two used. Had the same problem. They replaced them both with new units.

I had the same problems.. but mine happens when phone gets above 35°C.. So I activate wakelock at this time until i see temp is lower than that.. after that I disable wake lock.. it's a pain in the ass.. but it is better than pull the battery out once every 15 min..

Is there something specific about 35C, and are you sure it is exactly that?
I have installed 2.3.6 Bell and I still get reboots, anyone have a link to stock 2.2.1 Bell SBF that I can try?
sometime 35 sometime 36.. but above that temp.. sod kills me.. under that temp phone runs smooth..
I'm a system enginner but I haven't program in years.. I'm thinking seriously in create just a services to read temp and launch a wake lock when temp reache some level..
I'm pretty sure I will help lot of people but aint sure when i can start doing some work

my phone would not actually reboot but in went into SOD (sleep of death) so every time this has happened to me i installed a new kernel or reinstalled the one i had.........always rectified the issue.

I had the same problem when I flashed CM9 and then when I downgraded back down to CM7, I tweaked the kernels I used and changed my UV settings and it hasn't happened since. Perhaps flash a different kernel and see if that works?

Tried several of them, this seems to happen on stock 2.3.6 as well.
I flashed a stock sbf to return to stock. Still had the sleep of death. Reboots after and during phone calls, and touch screen problems. I believe it is hardware related.
Hi i am recently encountering a massive battery drain when phone is on idle. Screen off, wifi and everything off even syncs. Brightness only 15%. Battery is draining average of 10% per 2 hours on standby. I uninstalled all apps prior to this prob but still nothings changed. It wasnt like this before. I downloaded betterbattery and i have 3 things on top list under kernel wakelock. The smdcntl0, smdcntl1 and radio interface. But i have no idea what they are..
By any chance i have a virus that only a repair would fix? Also, i heard that there is a new firmware for xperia s. If i downloaded the firmware in the future will that reset and fix my phone's problem? Cause i dont want to back up 2 g worth of mp3 for a single repair. Perhaps there are simpler solutions.. Any answer would be appreciated.. Thanks..
Ps. Im using stock ics no root no nothing and i dont plan on rooting.
Backup your data an repair with seus or flash another firmware with flash tools you find all you need in development section!

The issue is alarmmanager ( check partial wakelocks). The only thing you can do is sit and wait for Sony to release a fix.
I have the same problem but not as extreme as you.
I predict that it might be a radio issue, where the phone constantly scans for towers. It's just a guess though, based on info I just pulled out of my butt.

Alarm manager randomly causes drains, also I found locking mine to 3g only helped.

Thanks for the reply. I noticed that i will occasionally lose network signal and get it back again. It doesnt happem often but it happens. Probably once every 5 hours or so. I dunno if i have a faulty sim thats 5 years old or just a bug. It didnt happen before in my mini pro. And the alarm thing i thought that was my alarm apps. Well now at least i know its a software fault on the part of sony. Thanks for clarifying. I hope sony will release a fix or at least plan for a fix.. Were ways kept behind shadows..
Since installing apps such deep sleep battery saver and longevity I've had a problem starting everynight at 12am when phone goes into deep
sleep I lose WiFi and data I didn't have this problem prior to trying these apps I uninstalled them before I even noticed the problem tried reinstalling and setting things to disabled and uninstall again.
I have even wiped my phone at this point and I still have the problem..at this point I don't know which app it is i think its deep sleep battery saver since im pretty sure it started right after experimenting with that but I know I didn't have this issue prior it seems to obviously be on a schedule since it starts happening at 12
Another sign would be that it doesn't seem to happen when its on the charger which is another reason that would lead me to believe a battery saving app did something..now the question is how can I fix this especially if wiping didn't even fix it this is very annoying cause I rely on getting instant email notifications at all times and now I don't get them late at night if my phone is sleeping
ive contacted the deep sleep team through this site and contacted longevity as well to see if they have anything else to say..deep sleep was looking into it but im not sure what will come of that

Is anyone else getting Android OS around 50-60% battery use?
I have tried every ROM included going back to stock. I have ran the phone with nothing but Stock and no apps installed for a day and still get the same drain so I can only assume its a kernel issue.
I am not familiar with LG products in the slightest, but I had a yellow screen of death the other day...something I have never seen in my years with samsung android products. Anyone have any idea what this is maybe it is pointing to a hardware issue?
LG made a great phone, but I don't think I will keep it much longer. Locked boot loaders, no sources, and history of terrible updates have me regretting purchasing this phone. I tried my hand at building a working jb release when I first got the phone and it is going to take a skill set I do not have and I hate waiting on a company to do what they've never done in the past..

Easy, brother. I have only had one of my apps/utilities run higher than AndroidOS ever on this phone; however, that said, I think there is a problem with the way it's being calculated. I'm getting really good battery life with good sleep and still AndroidOS shows the highest by far. I know that's abnormal for it to be so high and still get good battery life, but it is what it is.
Edit: you've installed the fast dormancy toggle, right? As for the yellow screen, I've seen it once in my two months with the phone, just rebooted and carried on. Forgot what they said it was...but it is here in this forum somewhere.

I was just about to post something similar. Andriod OS being high kind of makes sense if nothing else is using the battery, although you would expect that number to fall significantly with increased screen on time and heavy app usage, which it doesn't ever seem to.
I've been having horrible battery drain lately. I'm currently traveling for business, and just use my OG for web surfing and stuff when I'm in my hotel. I leave the phone in airplane mode, with WiFi on. About two weeks ago, when I was on The Base 0.4 in that same configuration, my battery would drain maybe 1% an hour while I was sleeping.
Recently I've been on The Base 0.7.3, and my battery drains over 5% an hour while I'm sleeping. This means no screen on, no apps running, and even turning WiFi off! How does it use that much battery when it's not doing anything? Now, I'm not entirely sure what kernel I'm running. The first time I installed The Base 0.7.3 I used sk8's kernel. After getting poor battery life, I reflashed 0.7 and 0.7.3, this time choosing the freegee kernel. I'm not actually sure if the kernel changed though.
Anyway, I think I'll post again tomorrow with some screenshots from Better Battery Stats+ and CPU Spy.
I'm wondering if this recent botched update had the battery fixes we need. Hopefully they'll re-release it soon.

When I would get bad drain, which has happened several times, I could narrow it down to a couple things in order to solve the problem.
In my case it would always happen after installing Google+. Uninstall and reboot would usually fix the issue. If I got drain on a fresh install without g+ installed, I found that if I installed the 2.2 kernel separately as a stand alone zip, that would fix it. Don't know why but it may work for you too.
I don't have screen shots, but today I recharged at 38% after 3:10 of phone use and 1:55 screen on time and about 15 hours off charger. That's with Wi-Fi on the whole time and Bluetooth for about 9 hours. I have my work exchange account on active sync with push notifications. Facebook and Twitterer to 4 hour intervals. I'm underclocked to 1350 and using powersave gov with deadline.

Believe you are correct. There were issues on the Samsung Infuse and even the international SGS3 for a while... it was referred to as 'memory leak.' Has been worked out by devs on XDA. You can put memory leak in the XDA search above... it's above my pay grade.
Edit: It's great to see another RD here... hope you will reconsider keeping the phone and stay !!

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I have Google+ uninstalled, but part of me thinks Google Now may be partially the culprit (although why that would be the case with all radios off, I don't know).
I'll try a fresh install of the 2.2 kernel and see if that helps. Thanks.

I would be less inclined to believe it is a faulty measure if we had a different ROM not built off stock (AOKP/CM10) that could produce different values. However, I seriously doubt anything built into either of the two custom ROM's is geared toward normalizing that reading. That's why they are both the same as the stock AndroidOS percentages. Jivy is probably right that it's a kernel issue. With the size battery we have, imagine the potential if it is a true reading (androidOS out-of-control) and we can get it under control down the road. We're talking double the current best battery life you've ever had on this phone at the very least.

Get BetterBatteryStats, select Since unplugged and Alarms to see what is waking the device (making it not go into a deep sleep). eBay was a big culprit for me.
The wakelock that keeps the phone awake during background data transfer (screen off) lasts 6 seconds (I am guessing it does it in multiples of 6s) regardless of how long the sync takes. Everytime email, facebook, gmail, drive, picasa, twitter, g+, google maps, ebay, calendar, contacts.. whatever wakes the phone to check something, it will be a minimum of 6 seconds.. This adds up over the course of the day and it is counted in the Android OS. Shut down syncs you don't absolutely want/need and this number will go down. All phones with the Snapdragon S4 Pro has it, especially the Nexus4. It seems they've done some kernel work to fix/reduce it but I havent really looked into it since I don't have that phone. I've seen complaints in the Droid DNA forum as well.

Anyone else experiencing scrolling lag or delay. Clearing cache and wiping dalvik fixes it but the issue returns after about two days.

I have recently (half a week ago) updated my SII to Jelly Bean from ICS. It's fully stock without root. However, I noticed right away that the battery started draining very quickly and the phone sometimes gets hot. Did a factory reset. Factory reset the phone and format the internal SD and remove the external SD. Didn't help in the slightest. Phone starts draining after resetting. I have tried to flash another stock JB ROM (XEU) and afterwards factory reset the phone again. No dice. I installed CPU Spy to see CPU consumption and it says the phone didn't go into deep sleep at all and 95% of the time it was at 200 Mhz over an 8 hour period or so. So there's a wakelock that's keeping the phone continuously on.
At first, "Media" in battery settings in Settings was the culprit, it drained about 50% of the battery. I have searched the web and it's a pretty common battery drain on JB. I did try to disable the service and its battery consumption went down dramatically. But for some reason it turned on again. But right now Android OS and Android System are both draining most of the battery. I have also installed BetterBatteryStats and according to that app there is a partial wakelock called "NlpWakeLock" by Google Services that's draining most of the battery. Last night, around 60% of the battery got drained overnight (80% > 23% to be precise). Which, clearly, is unacceptable.
I'm at my wits end. I have no idea how to solve this and because I really like the new JB features I don't want to go back to ICS (I did a fresh ICS install and the battery drained 2% overnight which is how it's supposed to be).
If there's any information you need to know let me know. Any help is appreciated!
Go back to GB with speedmod kernel is an option.

Last night, around 60% of the battery got drained overnight (80% > 23% to be precise). Which, clearly, is unacceptable.
I'm at my wits end. I have no idea how to solve this and because I really like the new JB features I don't want to go back to ICS (I did a fresh ICS install and the battery drained 2% overnight which is how it's supposed to be).
If there's any information you need to know let me know. Any help is appreciated!

Is your device rooted?
If yes then switch your kernel to apolo it's gives you good battery life

Do you mean going back to Gingerbread? I haven't figured out what the speedmod kernel is yet but if I were to switch back I would rather switch back to ICS. But preferably I'd stick to JB since I do love all the new features and options. I'm willing to flash another JB ROM without the battery drain issue. However, all stock ROMs that I have tried had the issue.
Do you know of any good JB ROM? I prefer to keep it as stock as possible. I did root when I had ICS installed though.

But right now Android OS and Android System are both draining most of the battery. I have also installed BetterBatteryStats and according to that app there is a partial wakelock called "NlpWakeLock" by Google Services that's draining most of the battery. Hey Kaigo ,
I have faced the same problem as you have faced ... Gone through a lot of problems to fix this Many of the Stock JB's for GS2 are having a lot of issues with the battery drainage
Well I had found a solution to this problem You can try installing the JB France update (XEF) & the UAE update (XSG)
It worked pretty well for me Try it and let me know if it worked for you

Wow, nice. Exactly what I'm looking for! I'm downloading the XEF update as I'm typing this. I'm going to try that and I will let you know the result.

Well repeating other peoples posts isnt helping anybody.
An update. I've installed the XEF update initially it had the same draining issue. However, I've also cleared cache and data in recovery mode and it seems to have solved most of the issue. I've got pretty good battery life now (about 1%/h idle).
But I did find another culprit draining the battery which is Dropbox. According to BBS the processes "wlan_rx_wake" and "h2_hsic" were draining the battery but I've uninstalled Dropbox now and it seems to have solved the issue. I really use Dropbox regularly though. Anyone got any idea what could be causing that?

I have always had that feature disabled since I don't want to use it anyway. I have no clue what could be causing it. I want to use a packet sniffer to see what is sending and receiving data but the phone isn't rooted so I can't really do that unfortunately.
Hold on, I'ma freeze it with TiBu.
Test time.

I just greenify Dropbox (actually, all apps which rely on an internet connection). Unfortunately for you, it requires root. IMHO, almost worth rooting for, although there's many better reasons than that.
Greenify is almost like a temporary freezing of the app, by stopping all background processes for the app. They automatically restart when you launch the app, and automatically turn off when the phone goes to deep sleep.

Im glad the XEF update helped
Well Dropbox always keeps on syncing stuff from the cloud and that might the real cause You should disable all the automatic syncing and keep it to manual sync as it syncs only on your commands and saves your battery!!

Check how much data is being downloaded. If a lot is being downloaded off WiFi, switch it off and see if that stops your drain. Then switch off Data on your cellular. Just to check which one's causing the drain. Believe it or not, I just rebooted my home wifi router and battery drain issue was over on my Galaxy S2.

I had previously rooted my phone when I was on ICS. I never used it too often though. I wanted to use Nandroid. I have no clue how to root JB though, without flashing a modded kernel (which I did with ICS).

That's very interesting. This might just be a good reason to root the phone. So I can use network log or shark to see which apps are sending and/or receiving data. I have this feeling Dropbox is going to be one of them..

Hmm, but I guess that you can't really freeze apps like Whatsapp, since you wouldn't be able to receive any messages then until you turn on your phone. But I'm getting convinced to root the phone again so I'm definitely going to give it a try.
