Optimus One as NAS - Optimus One, P500, V General

Hey is it possible to use my LG as a NAS?
Is there a light room or something like that?
Because i bought a new Phone (Xiaomi-MI2) and I do not need the LG anymore as mobile phone but it had done a good job as long as I had. So I thought i can use it as little NAS at home.
Thanks for your Help.
Sry for bad english(German)

Network attached storage. Keep wifi on, configure the IP and access the data on phone's SD card wirelessly.

[Q] can i make a network?

i have imediashare. it can share all media on my phone with my xbox over my wireless network..
however.. is there a way that i can make a network with my phone? so i dont need a router present? i have a wifi adapter for my xbox and would like to be able to stream to it wherever i am.
Yes but not advised. The hit soot feature can be used to network ute xbox and laptop together but verizon will be sure to charge you for all that bandwidth ill be using while on hot spot

I think my question is misunderstood. What I'm trying to do is watch video from my phone to my xbox. The app I'm using uses wifi over my local network (not internet).. However I would like to be able to do this without the use of a router. Somehow letting my phones wifi and my xbox wifi network together.. I tried wifi teather which puts the xbox on a network (plus unneeded internet) however it does not put my phone on the same network.. I need to find a way to make some kind of virtual network they can both connect to. That way my phone can stream direct to xbox.. I'm not sure if there is an app for that. But I'm still searching, hoping someone has a way

Lost Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0

So guys, I lost my Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 inside my house somewhere and I cannot find it. I know the GPS is on and the device is on with little battery. Is there any way I can find it? My Google account is on it so is there anyway I can find it with GPS? BTW, I do not have any texting apps on it. Any help? Thanks

You should call on police, and tell them, you have got a drags, they will give you hard revision!! And you will get your desired sgp!!
Have you turned on wifi before you lost?

Yes, I turned on WiFi. It's always on.

You might be able to use a laptop with wifi signal strength anaylizer software to locate your device???

Use your router to locate him, there should be singals of all devices connected to the router, so, you can easily locate SGP5

You can't use GPS to find it considering the accuracy probably spans the entirety of your home. You may be able to locate it with wireless information from your router. I'd hurry though in the case that your battery drains quickly with WiFi always on.
Worst case, you'll come across it while cleaning or just retrace your steps to when you last had it.
Well guys, I found it using using the Plan B app from Lookout Security. It connected to my Google account and found where the location was in my house. Any suggestions on how I can be prepared next time? Like a backup GPS?

you can get a communicator like skype, parlingo etc. and if you lost again, you will be able to locate SGP with one call/massage to SGP.
you cant use GPS, coz accuracy of GPS is nearly of 15m-10m,
you can use also a spectrum analyser or a wifi device with monitor mode on, but the first cost ~600$, the second is hard to do, those two need to have wifi turned on SGP.
A couple of options:
You could install skype, or some other app that lets you receive calls, messages, or whatever over wi-fi. Configure the app with an audible alert when a call is received, and then just call your player when you lose it.
Configure the email client to play an alert sound when a new email is received, and email yourself when you need to find your phone
Download google voice and get a free phone number you can text from your computer or phone. Couple it with groove ip app and you have a free wi fi phone service. I use it all the time.
OK, Thanks Guys!

I know it's bad form to resurrect old threads, but I noticed an app on Google Play apparently made for this exact situation. it's called "Wheres My Droid" (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alienmanfc6.wheresmyandroid)
install app androidlost....it is not using any memory because its using google account and app after first time doesnt need to be even started as any process normal or background...and then go to www.androidlost.com ..log with your google id and you can do what ever comes to your mind with device remotely.I find my phone and tablet with that 10 times by now or scare my friend who use it because you can even play police siren remotey on device. And this free app is also awsome for spying your girlfriend if she has android phone..mine have no idea that i read all here messages and now who calls here and who she calls..but for now she is good girl

Is it possible....

To have a 3g data connection and a wifi connection working simultaneously yet independently of each other?
I want to purchase an air stash wireless media server so I can carry more of my music around with me.
The problem is when this thing is linked to my phone I won't have a 3g connection(because it connects as a wifi network)
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Why do you specifically need 3G when there's wifi around?
There is a way. If I get off work early enough I will see if I can get it changed. Sent from my PG86100 using xda app-developers app
Well the airstash has a wifi transmitter to connect to the phone to transfer and stream files, so if I'm not around wifi but want to use that I have to sacrifice a data connection because 3g turns off when connected to wifi
Edit:
Wow thanks, that is incredibly generous.
I don't want to take up a ton of your time so if it isn't too complex I could probably do it if pointed in the right direction.

Why not just use Google music? I think it holds like 20,000 songs, its free, and works on any data connection
I've used Google music, I dedicated it to standout tracks but it has reached its end a while back and my phone is already refined to the point I don't want to move anything off it. I've been using box and dropbox, but my box account if full now too and dropbox is reaching that point in the next few weeks, so I figure the airstash and a 256gb sdxc card should last me a bit longer.
I know there seems like no reason to carry so much music around but once it leaves my phone and goes on my desktop hard drive it'll never be listened to again, essentially a music graveyard, so I try my best to delay the inevitable.

I know there has to be a way, and I think I've seen it before..
The phone is fully capable of running both Wifi and 3G/4G network at the same time, because when you're on WiFi and you send/receive a MMS, then it does upload/download via data.
I'll look into it for you.
Sweet, I've been searching all over the place trying to find out how but can't seem to find anything

It would work, but it would sure take you a while to get that working properly..
I would think that you could somehow tweak a file to allow them both since, as I said before, you can be on WiFi and download an MMS, which can go over 4G.
There's gotta be a way to trick android that it's downloading an MMS but it's really connecting you to 4G.
However, I have no idea how to do that, I'm not a developer.
I feel you would need some way of telling each individual application what connection to use in order for this to work right.

I think your right.
But the downside to that is when you actually go to really use a WiFi network, the app will continue to run on Data.
Hmmm, well if a governor or a toggle were implemented, to determine what apps use what connection under what circumstances, I'm thinking it might be a good route to take

That's actually a good idea.
But, I'm not a developer, and I don't think you are either. So it would take some time to get this working.
Since you're considering a toggle now, maybe try posting in the general Android Q&A section also? They might be able to help you.
Sorry.
That is a good idea, I'm taking a bunch of programming classes this semester so I might make it a school project.
Thanks for the replies,
it gets the ideas flowing.

If you're in high school, those programming classes won't involve anything android related, trust me.
University however, make a Rom, that'll get you a good mark.

Doesn't putting the phone in hotspot mode access Data and repeat it over Wifi? So isn't the answer to simply put the phone in hotspot mode? I know the phone can still access the data while in hotspot mode, so external devices should also be able to talk to the android device as well; over the wifi correct? Unless there is a build in firewall w/port blocking... but I would put my bets on file sharing ports being open.
Yep its possible very possible

Wifi file explorer pro works beautifully for what you need. Or do u mean sending from phone to phone over wifi? In that case frostwire works.

Its been my speculation, htc has wifi direct, for something that eludes me, it does not work as the wifi direct in most samsung devices, i really dont know the purpose of it, probably for some stupid wireless device of theres, but our wifi direct is defeltly missing alot of stuff, iv tried multiple time to transfer stuff, between my bros vivid, and my rezound, but it never works, we can connect to each other, but files never get sent.
A workaround is simply to use wifi tether on one phone with infrastructure mode.
Then, connect the other phone to the wifi tethered phone.
Fire up Samba Filesharing on either phone. Connect with ES File explorer on the other , and you're good to go.

the only thing i use wifi direct for is occasionally with my hp printer works good though

Utorrent stuck at 0%

Hi guys
I have tried in many occasions to use utorrent plus other clients in my S3 and can seek to get a single download to start, they all are stick at 0%
Thought maybe it was to do with the port perhaps its alport 6882 but I don't know what to change this to or how to forward the port to my s3 IP address.
Can someone let me know what to do to get this working?
Thanks in advance

Usually you have to forward ports on your router. Google how to forward ports and you will know

port forwarding is not setup on a laptop or phone (at least not only). You have to open the port on your router, assign, if possible, fixed IPs to your laptop as well as phone and then it should work. some routers also allow you to reserve a certain IP address for a certain end user (e.g. laptop or phone) which will help you if you do not want to give fixed IPs but use DHCP (the way I do it)

For 3G you do not need to open anything as it depends on your provider. For your router there is one website that describes the process for nearly all routers, but I forgot the name.
Portforward.com maybe yes, or Google your routers name and open port

Sorry guys but have got nowhere with this....
Can anyone who has utorrent or ttorrent or any of these torrent apps say what they did from install to 1st torrent to get it working?
I assume that over 3G I shouldnt need to tweak anything yet downloading does absolutely nothing. Over WiFi I get the same.
I can pick up most things but really don't get port forwarding and not even sure that is the problem. I would love to be able to use torrent apps but I just dont know how.
I can get utorrent working on pc fine but googling and trial and error but I'm getting no where on my S3.
Can I get a little help?

If you have T-Mobile, they usually block p2p traffic.
