[Q]no S/N on back of phone? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Ok so I myself updated to the new jellybean tonight over kies by entering my s/n number on the back of the phone and updating firmware to 4.1.2. My friend went to do the same thing only his doesn't have an S/N number. Just an imei number like WTH? We also noticed his was made in china while mine was made in Korea. His is phone is white and mine is black (no it's not racial) just wondering if that's got something to do with it. So he tried typing in the imei number and no go. He tried looking in phone settings and the s/n number there is significantly smaller than mine and kies didn't accept it.
Does anyone else have this problem?

My sticker under the battery matches settings/about phone/status/sn. Just make sure he isn't mixing up zeros with O's. Good luck.
Edit: Mine is 11 digits

Stock rom will show serial number under settings/about phone or further under phone status. Never found the phone serial under cm10, or other custom roms.
I too have just a model # and imei which kies refused. Odin to stock or a stock touchwiz based rom and you'll find it.
Unless you have the box the phone came with, that's my solution.

You can also download the update from Sammobile or this link http://storagecow.eu/index.php?dir=Xda/AT&T+Note+1/Stock+Jelly+Bean/ and install using Odin.

Thank you all for your suggestions, I know I can install it another way its just Why is there a Made in China sticker instead of Made in Korea? What did I pay 300 for a knock-off from ATT? What isnt there a S/N on the sticker where there should be one? This is the reason of this post to see if anyone else has the same issues with there Notes, are they really Samsung Made in Korea or a Knock off Made in China? Thanks for your opinions...

Samsung is Korean. You got a clone.
The model number is india seven one seven

did you get a new or a refurb? my refurb (I warrantied mine due to issues) doesn't have the original samsung sticker which irritates me to an extent. Mine does say made in Korea though. no S/N on mine though.

+1 here
Made in Korea although remanufactured, without the s/n on it
Edit: Black with blue battery cover here.

I have a referb, and an original in front of me. Both have identical stickers under the battery. The referb has an additional sticker on it saying ATC. They both are black, made in korea, and have s/n numbers. So that rules the refurb idea out. Do you guys with missing s/n's have white phones by any chance? I'm wondering if the white version was made in china and the black version made in korea. Not trying to be racial, just curious cause wingnuts with the missing s/n is white and made in china and mine with the s/n is black and made in korea.

it could also be different referb shops too. To think Sammy only contracts to one in Korea seems a tad naive. but that's a valid question about white vs black. mine is black and from Korea. also no ATC sticker on mine

IMEI of galaxy s2 changed

hey guys! i am looking to buy galaxy s2
The guy i wanna buy from apparently was attempting to use custom rom and has "altered" his IMEI to a generic one "It contains the IMEI so now its stuck to a generic IMEI of 004999010640000. "
According to him the phone is still fully functional, but I was wondering if I should be worried about this phone If i were to buy it
Not sure an imei number can be changed legally.
I think I would give a wide berth to a phone with a false imei number. It could mean that the phone has been stolen. You would not want your phone stolen and resold under a new imei number by some scumbag would you?
Its nicked my son, and so could you be

You should be.Changing the IMEI of a device is illegal. It's also not allowed to speak of such matters on the forums. Not that I have a problem with what you're asking or something,as I had similar questions once, but a mod will probably close the thread.Which is right,XDA is a place for legal stuff only.Fortunately.
Anyway, dangers(if I can call it so) are that if the carrier or Samsung realise that the IMEI's been tampered with they can deny giving you phone service,so you end up with an expensive iPod-like device that can make no calls.Or you could be tracked and pay a fine or something. It also depends on the country where you live.
I'd say you don't buy it.I wouldn't for one.
Definitely stolen. Don't buy it.

Grey banding caused by temperature change/Mystery country of origin

Hello all,
So after much testing, I have determined that when the temperature is less than about 45 degrees Fahrenheit, grey horizontal lines appear on my screen. As it gets colder, they increase in number and contrast. When the temperature rises, they fade over time and eventually disappear. I have rebooted, and reflashed different roms, and have not dropped it on the ground or in water.
Yes, I know its weird, and I suppose that my only course of action is to get the screen replaced. The Chinese Samsung Repair Center will not honor my manufacturer's warranty (want me to pay $$) because the phone is not a Chinese GSII Here is where my question(s) comes in:
I bought my phone in the famous Beijing Dinghao Electronics market in July, and it is what used to be known as the european model (meaning no dvb antenna) and quad band GSM. This model however, if i'm not mistaken, was also used in south america (chile etc). And I'm not sure if mine is from UK, or Chile, or another south American country.
Is there a way to know for sure exactly what country my phone is from?
If i can figure that out, most likely I can send it there for a repair, as it is still under manufacturers warranty.
All the CSC etc are different because ive been flashing, but here's what it says on the back of my phone.
Code:
TELEFONO CELULAR/CELLULARPHONE
MODELO:GT-I9100
SSN:-I9100GSMH
FCC ID:A3LGTI9100
ALIMENTACION:3,7v;1000mA
HECHO EN CHINA/MADE IN CHINA
That's it. It really seems like some latin country, but there may be something I don't know.
Does anyone know where, ultimately I should send this phone to to get it the manufacturer's warranty honored?
And yes, this is a real Galaxy SII.
Thank you.
Product Code says where .

[Q] Where can i find Galaxy S3 i9300 packing box?

Hi,
I looking to buy a S3 I9300 pebble blue BOX (only).
I found in Aliexpress 2-3 sellers who sells those stuff, but they just give randomly any blue box WITHOUTprinting customers IMEI number.
Is anyone knows a site that sells the box (the same design as the original) of the I9300-international ver. , that print on the stickers the requested IMEI number?
Thank you for your kind help!

hhhhmmmm I'm finding it hard to think of a legitimate reason as to why you would want this.......
Just for selling.
I have almost a brand new condition...so sell it with a box should only make it better.

In addition, the bar coded imei sticker is a legal document effectively, so unless you find another dodgy geezer who is willing to fake one, then you are out of luck
I understand...
By the way - what do you mena in "dodgy geezer" ? (from Babylon="can be used to describe a man of bad character").
Thay i need to find a person that willing to do this illegal things?

That's a pretty accurate description indeed......more a reference to the nature of the question rather than a smear on one's good self
Sorry, but i never tought that is a bad thing to do

[Q] spoofed IMEI possible?

Hi,
I did a job for a Singaporean guy. As payment he gave me a Samsung i9300. The device was brand new, original packed, factory seal. The guy is dealing in mobile phones as far as I know and it was a good deal so I thought its alright.
The only problem we had was that the device showed device modified. We tried to look up the IMEI on imei.info and it says it is a Nokia 1600. Now after having a closer look at the packing I saw that there is a sticker over the sticker with the original IMEI. As it was still possible to figure out the old IMEI we looked it up on imei.info and it shows the right model & specs. The device is as well not reported stolen.
If I look up the both numbers on numberingplans there are no records for both numbers.
Everything looks alright. Even the sticker in the phone is showing the actual IMEI. Its not a fake phone too. The quality is to good. Its working too.
Anybody heard of something before?
How sure it is that the the info on imei.info is correct?
Could a imei get faked?
If the imei is fake, what to do with it? is it safe to use it? Virus ...? I am a totally newbie. Sorry.
Thanks for your advice. I am not really into this.
IMEI can get faked even though it is illegal to do so.
Fake IMEI may not connect to a network.
Fake IMEI can be due to a stolen blacklisted phone .
The phone is not a genuine product you should return it .
It is connecting to the network. This is not really the problem.
My problem is more that the guy is back in Singapore.
Ok, at the end of the day this means I should not use it and I definitely should not sell it too.
What a piece of junk

FCC ID of UK SM-G965F

Hi
I am having problems using my phone in the country where I am travelling. They are very tough on imported phones and my IMEI is not yet in their system. In order to get it in their system, I need the FCC ID of the UK S9+ single SIM but I do not have the box with me and it is not something which shows up in PhoneInfo. I bought mine from Amazon UK.
Can someone who has the same model please let me know the FCC ID from their box, or perhaps from the label on the back of the phone which I took off. (It may be the same FCC ID in other countries with the same model number but to be safe I prefer to have a UK one.)
TIA.
EDIT: The 128Gb version, of course. I hope the colour doesn't make a difference to the code but mine is the lilac purple.
Does the Exynos version have an FCC ID? Since it wasn't released in North America, I'm not sure they put it through FCC certification.

Google has just found me this. Am I right that, if it were Snapdragon, it would not have the F at the end?

Can't be 100% sure since that's an FCC ID and not a Samsung model number, but you're likely right. I searched off my device's FCC ID and it has the U on it.

Got it. Thanks.
What is the model of the phone i can help you out,
To check the model number go to setting and about phone it will be there but i can tell you i know for a fact the F is the exyenos variant and not the snapdragon variant,
Which country are you trying to use the device from as you will need to flash the device with region specific firmware as the country you are in will use different radio frequencies to what the UK does.
Thanks
Matthew from australia
