Hello all, i wanna start this off by saying im afraid the only solution is a new phone. I've got an amazing rooted Evo lite with Carbon ROM is running flawlessly, well almost. Bluetooth hasn't worked for months for no matter how many wipes/rooms ever tried it doesn't recognize anything and nothing recognizes it. The weirdest thing is that it still turns on, (Ive had many roms before where neither Bluetooth or wifi would turn on but that isnt the case. I've contacted HTC they think it's the back cover, but I figured some genius on here has a better solution. If anyone has any ideas or information on what i should do or try please PLEASE let me know, I'm willing to try anything, Ill even take it surfing with the sharks if that will help. Btw ive already deleted the data for Bluetooth and stuff, i just need this emo to connect to my future sony smart watch!!

Try removing the back cover where the SD card goes and make sure the connectors are actually making contact

I had the same exact issue and no matter what I di I couldn't get it back to work, used viperRuu to get back to stock/s-on and even with stok kernel, unroofed, s-on the Bluetooth didn't work I've waisted 3days with sprint/htc tech support and I went to a spint corporate store and a private store owned by western talk and the tech checked the back cover and all the connectors, note that my evo has been on an otterbox defender case since I got it on "release" after customs release date, anyways, I got a replacement yesterday and I'm Dirty Racun S-off already, good luck!
Rubbing the back cover did something!
I violently pushed on the back plastic cover and Bluetooth actually picked up my Xperia tablet! But still said error communicating or some ****, but its a step in the right direction for sure. Contacted htc and they're sending me a replacement cover so hopefully that will fix everything. Thanks everyone for the quick response and help

Who did you contact at HTC? I am having the exact same issue. If I press hard on the back of the cover, I can get it to work.

I'm also having bluetooth issues.I've been told countless times it's because of an app, but I've wiped my phone twice and even with no apps I can't get bluetooth to connect reliably. However, if I boot it in safe mode I can get it to work about 50% of the time... I'm wondering if I need to try to get a replacement?

Well, what's wrong with the wifi? Be a bit more explicit so that somebody could maybe help you resolve the issue.
just wont connect it says that it is turned on and searching but no connections found. been using pdaviet's vista rom for like 6 months and have never had an issue before. just wondering if it can be repaired or is it worth it?
Try the magical hard reset or ROM reflash before throwing in the towel my man!
man i tried resetting it and reloading the rom again still no luck???

when i was trying to flash a new SPL my phone powered off and now wont power on at all. if anybody can please help or give any advice please, please, please do so. any is appreciated!
This is going to be a stupid question, sorry. Have you removed the battery? If that doesn't work, and still wont turn on, then maybe try pushing the call and end button at the same time and hold for a few seconds. That may do something but not sure, this is the first I have heard of this problem.
thank you so much for replying! but yes, ive removed the battery and the sd card. i just tried holding the call and end button but nothing happened. i dont know if this is any help but when i connect the phone to the usb charger with the battery in it doesnt do anything, but when i connect the phone and usb battery-less and then insert the battery the charging light comes on. right now thats the only shred of hope i have...

If you have insurance just call tech support there transfer you to insurance and pay the 90$ and since out on new Eris may get a better phone my wife had Droid one dropped in water and had to go through insurance and they were out if new droids she got a brand new Droid 2.insurance sends new phones say dropped in lake and don't have phone anymore, worth a try
So when you connect your USB does the computer recognize anything? And does the phone light turn on even for a moment?
Sounds pretty bricked. Tell Verizon your phone just stopped turning on.
thanks for all the advice guys! i just got back from the vs and i got a "certified like new" eris. along with a cute little pink case for only 3 bucks.
and for future reference

So I sent my Atrix for repair as I couldn't stand the random reboots. It came back unfixed. I sent it again, this time warning Motorola that I wouldn't be ok with it coming back unfixed again and so it got back finally fixed.
However, the phone doesn't recognize the multimedia dock anymore ! Media center through HDMI works fine but not the dock : the phone doesn't charge nor does the audio work through the speaks I plug the dock to.
Do you think this is a software issue or an hardware one, something they messed up while repairing it.
If I have to send it one more time, I'll go nuts...
Thanks !

I'd guess that those things worked when it left, but not when it came back, that it would be a hardware issue if the software was unchanged. Just a thought though, do you have any mods installed or are you running a pure stock ROM?
Maybe they've noticed CM7 is better than their stock and they flashed CM7. :highfive:

In that case I would say it's very likely that they broke something else. Their Facebook staff may be able to put you in touch with someone who can help as well as they seem to have access to people that the CSR's don't, or they may just delete your post. Motorola's Facebook did have a large number of complaints regarding issues with repairs a couple months ago, but they suddenly disappeared, most likely due to trying to do damage control (reputation management). There's also their forums, where the discussion of anything other than stock functionality is pretty much taboo. But yes, if it worked before, it should work now.

Was it sent in on warranty or did you pay to have it fixed. Either way I feel for you because I know I sent my 2 atrixes in total of 3 times and even though they were fixed/replaced under warranty I still paid about $45 shipping in the end. Everyone on atrix forums keeps praising motorola build quality but I have failed to see it in mine or my wife's atrixes.

I myself see having to send them in on hardware issues within the 1st year as poor build quality. A new replacement they sent me froze on GPS then would not boot past moto screen as if it bricked itself. Was replaced with another new one after another 15$ I paid for shipping
I think some think USA company means quality. My new atrixes shipped from Mexico
Yeah, I'll have to pay to send it back again as well...
Do you think it's worth trying to flash a custom rom to see if it "fixes" it ?
Thanks.

No, because it's likely that they would use that in order to blame you for whatever is wrong with the device. If it's a hardware issue, no amount of third party software is going to fix it. I would however try to get in contact higher up in the chain of command regarding the issue. It's one thing to ship a device with a defect, it's another thing to have to ship the same device back and forth continuously to get it fixed. And the sad part is that this is just one of many similar stories regarding repairs. I guess that "New Motorola" just isn't quite so new after all.

Yes but sometimes people don't realize there is more than one way to do a factory reset on stock. Until about a year ago I thought you could only do this through settings. Recovery is the best way I now know
A good tutorial for that ?
'Cause that's what I meant when I asked if flashing a custom ROM would help : can it be something that isn't properly setup at a software level ? I tried flashing the stcok rom again with RSDLite but it didn't delete any data so I'm not sure it really reset anything.
Thanks !

You mean a guide to factory reset the device in recovery? I thought that was in the manual, but it isn't, although I did find it here.
So I did a factory reset from Recovery, which worked as all was wiped. However, still no luck with the dock.
The reason I asked if trying to install a custom rom was a good idea is because I'm wondering if flashing another Webtop version or the HDMI-hack could make it work. To be clear : do you think that the fact that the Factory Reset didn't work establishes that it's hardware issue ?

As you're able to attach the HDMI and this works are you sure it's not the dock that's faulty? Had a quick look around and came across this... http://www.atrixforums.com/forum/mo...my-hd-multimedia-dock-useless-without-tv.html also, have you tried to clean ect connectors/ports. Might be worth a try
I should try again but I have two docks and the other one doesn't work either. However, I do feel that the AC connector doesn't feel really stable when inside the dock..it just moves around. I'd have to try with the the other's dock AC cable but it's an UK one and I need an adapter.
The thing is that the dock wasn't touched while the phone was under repair so I don't see how it can break just like that.
As I stated before, connection through HDMI to a TV-set works fine as well as charging with the power cord.
EDIT : saw the link you shared and it feels like the exact same issue indeed !
Well, it's fixed...kinda.
I unlocked it and flashed the "fixed webtop addon" from CSROM. It still wasn't working but with it, I got that the message saying that the device was not in charge anymore when I disconnected from the dock, which it didn't before; it wasn't charging however.
I don't think that was relevant but then I decided to give a look at the dock again and removed the top of it and...tadaaa, it worked ! From what I understand, the dock's connectors were not entering the the phone's inputs enough. I still think it's because they ****ed up during repair but heck, I won't send it back for that...
Good to hear you got it working
My girlfriend liked my HTC Amaze and bugged me until I bought her one. It was a used Amaze I found on Craigslist. It has worked fine for almost a year. She's been having some really weird problems with it and I was planning to dig into fixing it for her. HOWEVER, night before last she dropped the dang phone in a cup of soda. She did get it out almost immediately and took it apart and dried everything off. I'm not too sure she let the phone dry very long, I wasn't there.
Now the phone boots just fine and all the apps appear to work. However, it gets NO BARS. It doesn't matter where we are. I can have 5 bars and 4G connection and her phone shows nadda. So we took the phone in to T-Mobile for some help. The guy was a lot of help and spend a lot of time working with the phone. He even switched sim cards. But eventually he discovered that the phone has been rooted. DANG!!!! So that got dropped quick. Now I have to figure this out for myself.
I really need some suggestions. Obviously the antenna has been affected, right? I have done my research and have learned that the phone actually connects to the back cover to obtain a connection. So I will be double checking that as soon as I get my hands on the phone again. What else should I do?
The android version is now v2.?. We've been trying to update it to v4 and it never would download. Now we know why. I want to restore the phone back to the stock configuration and upgrade the OS but there's no use in that unless I can take care of the connection problem.
Please, please, please someone help me. Otherwise I'll have to go out and buy a new Galaxy III for her. I can't afford that right now.

lol your title sounds a lil hahaha anyway all the signal antenna's are in the back door so try a new backdoor?? mite work ther're plenty in ebay
You can try a new back cover, but tbh, my guess is that it's probably not the problem. When it got wet it probably shorted something out or something. You have to take the battery out immediately, every .01 seconds count. And i wouldnt put the battery back in for like 2 days. Whenever mine gets wet I take out the battery then I try and suck out all of the water or whatever liquid out of the device as I can. Then ill let it sit in the sun for a while. I always waut at least 24 hourse before putting it back I

Yeah, that's certainly what I would have done. Unfortunately I wasn't there when it happened. She claims she immediately got it out. But she was falling asleep when it fell in so I really don't know. She did immediately take it apart and dry it off. But I don't think she was so anxious about it she put it back together to see if it would work. That probably did more damage than getting it wet in the first place.
We both have the same phone. I took the back off my Amaze and still have a good signal. It may have dropped one bar but not completely. It may get a boost on the signal from the back cover but it still works without. So I agree it probably is not going to be fixed by simply replacing the back cover. I'm going to stick my back cover on it this evening just to see what happens, but I think I know.
I am going to research the possibility of replacing the antenna completely. It seems the next logical option. I may also go ahead and take it further apart just to give it the opportunity to dry out. We'll see.
Any further comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

You are absolutely right!! LOL.. If it weren't for the cost of replacing the danged thing I would still be laughing. Why is it she wants ME to replace it and hasn't even suggested that SHE should be the one to replace it THIS TIME?????? She is on one of those pay as you go accounts. We were ready to set her up with a 2-year deal just to find they don't exist at T-Mobile any more. You pay full price for any phone now regardless of what sort of account you set up. I don't see doing that for quite a while.
I may be searching eBay for a replacement phone. But I'd like to try a few options with this one first.

if she dropped it in soda, get some rubbing alcohol and a q-tip. clean the contacts very thoroughly. the soda is sticky and can prevent proper contact,
also clean the SIM card contacts on both the card and the phone.
Working Now
I cleaned the back of the phone and the cover this morning with rubbing alcohol then stuck my SIM and SD cards in the phone this morning and turned it on. To my amazement it is now working. What a great sigh of relief!!!!! I have heard nothing but moaning and groaning over this cheap phone I bought my girl until I could resolve this.
So it's off to phase 2 of this adventure. According to the T-Mobile store this phone has been rooted. I've read about it but I know close to nothing about rooting phones. There seems to be as many DIY pages describing how to root or restore a cell phone I am a bit reluctant to get started.
What do I need to look for in restoring this phone? Do I have to find the restore file that matches the Android version on the phone or can I just get the absolute latest one? Which one of these abundance of instructional should I be looking for? What is this about S-On/S-Off? It seems to be important. How do I actually check to verify that this phone has been rooted? I'm just going by someone's comments here.
I'd like to get this completed today. I'm expecting SIGNIFICANT appreciation this evening if I can hand her a working smart phone!!!!
My most enthusiastic and humble appreciation to those who responded. :good:
Been doing some investigations. The phone has super user installed in the aps. It also has 4ext installed. I let the phone download the latest ICS but the install failed.
According to "most" off the forums I have read all I have to do is place the stock image on the root of the external SD card and reboot. Is there anything else I need to worry about?

Dude, if your signal is not working after putting your phone through the WASHING MACHINE, there's water damage to the phone. Unless you replace the motherboard in the phone, there's nothing you can do. Go to a library, print off the stuff you need, and get a new phone.

Wow! Why didn't I think of that?! Although your answer did not help me one bit I appreciate you throwing in your 2 cents. Maybe I work an upwards of 70 hours a week and usually during the day. Plus EVERYTHING else on the phone works, so why couldnt it be a simple software issue? Instead of telling me what I already know (need to get another phone), you could have nicely told me there isn't anything I can do. I apologize if this comes off as "a**holish" but you aren't helping, and instead just throwing out a random response. What version of the GE edition rom are you running? I at one time ran it and had issues. Before you do anything else try flashing another ROM. Also you could try to get another Sim card. Besides that I would say let it sit in rice again.

You could try flashing back to stock that would/should eliminate software issues. If its a no go then I would say its hardware related.
