Atrix, won't power, won't boot, won't charge - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I do not know any history on this phone, I do not know what software it had on it, it was Dead when I got it. When I plug it into the USB on my tower it will turn the green light on if I use one of my Samsung cables. If I plug it in to a wall plug it will turn the green light on only if the usb is about 1/2 way pushed it, but if it fully seats the light goes off. While the Green light is on if I press power it will go out. The Green light will come one even if the battery is out. I read where I needed to use a motorola factory cable, so I purchased one off ebay....when I plug it into the computer I still get nothing. But, the I plugged it into my palm wall plug and left it plugged it and when I it the power button the camera flash would come on then off....it would do that with or without the battery. Since getting the factory cable I have tried every configuration of volume + and - and both while holding the power button that I can think of. But I can't get this thing to power on or reboot into recovery.
Any suggestions of what to try now or tips??
Thanks,
Justin

[Q] Atrix will not boot up, blackscreen with a green light

hi , i have a motorola atrix that will not boot up at all, it just shows a black screen and when i plug in the usb charger it shows a green light but as soon as i press power the light turns off. i have tried to boot into recovery mode via power button + vol down but nothing shows on the screen , not even a failed to boot message to say its bricked.
after searching google etc , over the 3 days i have tried the following :
1. power + vol down (on battery)
2. power + vol down (wall plug with battery)
3. power + vol down (wall plug without battery)
4. vol down + plug factory cable into computer (with battery)
5. vol down + plug factory cable into computer (without battery)
6. power + vol down + plug factory cable into computer (with battery)
7. power + vol down + plug factory cable into computer (without battery)
and then all of that with Vol up instead , just in case it worked.
the last thing to try is to throw it at a wall and see if anything happens but before that i thought id ask, does anyone have any suggestions on what it could be / what i should do ? from the information ive given above can you tell if its a hard bricked paperwieght or there is hope?
i would appreciate any help given, many thanks!
may sound insignificant but try giving the phone a few hours on the wall-charger, preferably the original one because it has more output than a computer usb port. I had the same behaviour when I completly drained my atrix between two flashs.
If the battery is drained completely, it is difficult to have it hold a charge again. I have read about people putting the device on charge for 3-4 days in such a state and just revive.
I have done the same with agm/gel car batteries by putting them on a low trickle charge for a week.

Droid Razr won't charge or turn on

I plugged in my razr before I went to bed. I've been using a HTC plug and cable for the last few months no problems. Woke up this morning and battery was at 5% and then the phone died completely soon after. I plugged it in using my original motorola plug and cable. The dual core screen came up and then the battery level said 0% and it looked like it was charging. It died again after about half an hour. Now nothing will get the phone going. I also tried the hard reset (Power and volume down). The phone is unrooted and hadn't been updated to Jellybean yet.
Any ideas what I can try?

Try using the correct charger and charge it for about an hour, thats the first thing I would try. How long is the htc cable you're using because the longer the cable the slower the charge.
I have tried multiple different chargers with no joy. I think the problem is with the connection. When I plug a charger in the white charging light flashes briefly for a second. I checked the connection for dust and it looks clear?
Try Booting into bp tool or hw diag (hold vol up and vol down then press power should see black screen with white text vol down moves cursor vol IP selects) the phone should charge if left in one of these modes (if you can even make it this far without the bat dying that is). if that don't work could try disassembling then charging the battery directly (never tried this its only an idea try at you own risk)
My xt910 razr maxx has suffered exactly the same fate overnight. Worked fine yesterday now it's dead with the only sign of life from the white led when attaching the moto usb charger. Phone wasn't run flat prior to this. Baffling

Yes I have and no button combination produces as much as a glimmer. I've had the back off and checked the battery for charge, it shows 4.3 volts so it's not that. Something has failed catastrophically I fear.
Check the battery's cable that connects to your phone. If that cable was broke, you can just see the battery level but without charging it.

I've read around this a little now and have invested £3 in a Motorola Factory Cable of fleabay which hopefully will resolve the issue. Due to be delivered next week so I'll keep you posted......
Well got the factory cable and tried it holding the vol down button. Nothing. Took the back off the phone and checked the voltage of the battery 2.75v. Removed the battery and tried the factory cable with vol down. Still nothing. Reinstalled battery and left charging off a pc overnight, this morning it had risen to 2.83v. Starting to think that this phone has had it
Cut the end off a micro usb cable, exposed the wires and connected the red and black to the battery terminals then plugged it into the moto wall wart. Left it until fully charged....volt meter read 5.1v, the output of the charger. Disconnected and checked charge, 4.2v out of the battery.
still dead. Nothing. No red moto screen, no recovery nothing. Something else must be amiss. All I get is a brief white led flash when I plug in the standard charger cable.
anyone have any ideas where to go from here other than the skip?!
Just resurrecting this thread in the hope someone has found a solution....
I still have a brick which is unresponsive to two factory cables plugged into my PC with and without the battery in.
Trouble is I've got pictures on there I'd like to recover if possible which causes me to persist with this troublesome device!

I access the boot menu by holding both vol up and down, and pressing the power button (hold for ~2 seconds, and release the power button, while still holding vol +/-. Volume down will only send you to APFastboot. Check out the post, I encountered the same problem. The final method I tried was the winner. Good luck, and let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks for that, I'll certainly give it ago when I get a free hour one evening this week. I am concerned though that the factory cable doesn't work, I was under the impression that the phone should at least respond to its connection in some way - it doesn't even when vol-is depressed when connecting to pc.
The only response I get from the phone is a brief flash of the white led as the usb cable (factory or charging) is connected to it.
That indicates that there isn't any power management remaining on the phone, and the battery is pretty weak. You'll need to get the battery charged up manually. After you flash with the last method I used, you should be able to reconnect the battery and charge the phone all the way up before booting. Sounds like you're having the exact same problem I did.

Really , Really wanted this to work but it doesn't look promising.
Made the USB charge cable as described (white and black twisted together to -ve, red on its own to +ve). Battery removed from phone, usb on charge cable connected to PC.
5 Volts found at the battery connection terminals. Original Moto Data cable connected to phone then PC. White LED flashed on for slightly longer than before then off. No response from phone - nothing on the screen or vibration with or without any combination of Vol- and vol+.
Battery refitted and charge lead attached to terminals as above to charge from PC. Now reading 4V across the terminals charge lead plugged in, 3.84V cable unplugged so presumed charged.
Still no response other than the brief white LED from the phone with either the Data or Factory cables and Vol-(or any other Vol configurations).
Any ideas???
I assume you tried pressing and holding all the buttons, for five or ten seconds, or even a little longer, to try a full reboot. Beyond that, I wish I could help more. I'm slap out of ideas. This was the last step for me (as the solution usually is). The main board might have had it, though I don't have a clue why.

I'm thinking dead mobo too. When it died it did so overnight without provocation - no flashing or tinkering, it was left on the kitchen sideboard and found dead in the morning. oh well I've tried. many thanks for your help:good:
Glad to try and help. I guess it's time to move on to the next device! Let us know if the phone sporadically decides to work, or you figure out a solution!

I am not sure if you already watched this video, its for droid razr maxx, charging a dead battery and works perfectly for droid razr too.
My droid razr was exactly in same condition, white light and no charging, did not power up, completely dead.
I popped open the back case, connected the modified usb cable wires to the positive (Red wire) and negative (black wire) ends of the battery and let it charge (stay connected) for one hour. Then i pressed vol up+ vol down + power button. And my phone switched on.
If only your battery is dead, this should work.

Sony Xperia Z Ultra gpe wont charge or turn on. HELP PLEASE!

I left the phone charging. Stepped outside and came back. Found my phone completely dead. It wont turn on or charge. I tried a few method I found online. It doesnt work. The only thing that shows signs of life. Is when I hold the power and up button and plug in the charging usb while still holding the button. Red light blinks. But once I let go of the buttons back to dead. Please help of anybody know to fix this.
Anybody?
Did you completely discharge the battery (0%) before you plugged in the charger? If so, that's a dangerous game to play. Keep it charging for about 24 hours and then try to boot it.
Left it charging for a couple of days now nothing. Every time I plug in the the charge the red light comes on and then off. Blah I guess it's time to move on.

Just to check, but you're not able to go into fastboot, correct? (hold VOL UP when you connect it to your computer, and a blue LED goes on)

Unbrickable or not?

My tf201 seems to have gone into a bricked state. It crashed while my son was playing a game on it. Instead of restarting it never came back up. Thinking that the battery may have run out I plugged it into the AC charger overnight. While connected I could see an orange LED by the power button glow.
Now I can't get it to start. When I hold doen the power button, it vibrates for a several seconds but the screen remains completely blank.
Unfortunately I no longer have a USB cable for it. Is it worth buying one on the off chance it can be recovered?

Multiple charging issues, charging light stays green, reset not working

My wife has a Z4 LTE tablet she bought a little over a year ago that has been working great until the past 24 hours. She was using it as the battery was drawing near zero, but instead of it throwing the normal warning at 5% battery life it just shut down on her. She plugged it in to charge, and 15 hours later it wasn't turning on.
Here's what we've tried:
* Removing the SIM card and the SD card, disconnecting the USB charging cable, and holding down Vol +/- and power button. No vibrations.
* Holding Vol + while connecting the USB cable to a laptop USB 3.0 port. Charging indicator light turns blue. Let it sit for an hour, disconnected USB, system immediately turned off. Pressed the power button. Nothing happened.
* Not hold anything down, plug the USB charger into the stock Sony wall-charger (U.S. market) that came with the tablet. Light turns red for 1 second, green for 1 second, turns off for 1 second, flashes red, then turns green. Let sit for an hour. Press the power button. Nothing happens.
When connected to the laptop, with the charging light Blue, ADB found no connected devices. Tried again with the charging light green. ADB still found no devices.
Frustrated, we disconnected it for everything and let it sit for two hours not connected to anything. My wife tried to turn it on, and we got it to boot! It had 5% battery remaining. Every cable we connected to it, whether to a wall charger or to a laptop, triggered a USB warning notification stating that the USB needed to be connected to a charger, but this notification was immediately replaced with the low battery warning notification before we could click on it to attempt to take any action, if any actions were even available. Hoping for the best, while it was on and now with 3% batter remaining, I tried holding down the Vol +/- buttons and power button again hoping to trigger a device reset.
Now it's back to not booting, and the power indicator light again did the red, green, off, red, green cycle.
We're well outside warranty on this one, and with no cosmetic damage I'm hesitant to try to dismantle it if I can avoid doing so.
I've scanned all the other threads and couldn't find any similar issues, so I turn to you. Any advice would be most appreciated. Any advice that leads to my wife getting her primary computing device back in full operations mode is even more appreciated.
