I have a Galaxy GT-i9300' rooted.
I installed CM10.1
I found out that the motion sensor are not working in this ROM.
I really like the sensor motion options.
Does someone knows in which ROM's the sensor motions are operating?

what do you mean like direct call and smart alert etc? cause if so you cant use any aosp rom, you have to use a samsung rom there are loads of them to choose from in the android development section

In AOSP ROMs (like CM10.1, AOKP, Paranoid Android, Carbon ROM) there is no motion settings. It is just stock Android, not so much feature unlike touchwiz. You can install Samsung based stock ROMs. You can find lots of them in the development section.

I've noticed that since I've been using CyanogenMod that I don't have touch to focus functionality on my camera. My colleague at work has a Galaxy Nexus with CM10, and he has touch to focus (makes sense I suppose being that it's a nexus device). I am wondering why there is no touch to focus functionality on the note with CM9 or CM10 (i'm not using CM10 nightlies).
Is there any way to re-introduce such functionality to my phone, as no touch to focus has made using this camera almost useless.

I had the same question. Even installed the 4.2 camera without any better results. So I'm trying out Snap Camera ($2 in the play store). It offers the 4.2-like interface and the auto focus seems to work relatively well. You'll want to hit up the settings and change the preview size to max though. Otherwise, your preview looks like it came from a J-SH04.
I don't know if this has been asked before. Or if you thought about it. But the GS4 have some Air Gesture features like wave at the screen to answer calls, scroll with eye contact. Well you know those are similar to the one of the S3 but have more features to it. I was looking through some of the libs files on the S3 and the S4. As you see the S3 have libs file for the stay awake when you look at the screen. I figure if porting over those libs files from these features of the S4 and modified the SecSettings to make it enable/disable might work. I think it works with the same hardware sensors of the phone. Also I am not sure if the 4.2.2 leak have those features already in it.
Just a thought though. I know there is 4.2.2 leak and why not just use one of those roms. Well here in the US we are still on 4.1.2 and we would like to have as much as we can.
Air view was seemingly not on my note 10.1 with ics but it came with the jb update so I guess it's not hardware update

S4 have 8 Sensors while our s3 have only 5
and we will get Air Geaster and other kind of features which are based on software
you can try Air Geaster on s3 using this app
S3 Geaster for Music
how ever its only limited on Music but it have the same idea
and for the air view its not possible to our s3 because we dont have the front sensor which does the job for s4
and @note 10.1 update (the sensor on the pen has been updated thats why you have airview)
i always wonder if we do have this sensor by any illegal way
will we be able to use airview?

Now I did not know that the S4 have more sensors than the S3. I thought that these features could be with the same hardware and just to modified libs and smali. But that explain everything. With only 5 sensors I dont know if the phone would be capable of using these features.

i dont know where i read those info
but those 3 more sensors
1 for air view
and the other 2 for digital compass and s-health
but airGeaster use the front camera in Low resolution and detected the hand direction and do the job (thats mean when you are on the galary and you move your hand left or right camera will detect this action and will show the next or the prev, photo how ever its the same idea for the call answering or reject. )
it can be coded easily for all devices only if you know how to code for android
the only thing that it will worth to update for s4 is the display and i will not update to any new samsung device till i see the flixable display's
and i'm only a C# coder

okay i found those information about our s3 sensors
Axis accelerometer
Gyroscope
Orientation
Gravity
Vector
Light
Pressure
Proximity
Temperature
Barometer
samsung said that the S4 have more 8 sensors idk if this means that it have only 8 sensors or 8 sensors+ those listed above .
Hi there! I recently found out that Siyah Kernel allows dual booting on the S3, so I took the plunge and used it to install RootBox as my second ROM. I'm quite happy with it, but I'd love to have the Samsung camera's features back - particularly, the HDR and low light modes.
Does a mod exist that allows the TW camera to work, or has there been any previous technical discussion of this that may help me in my quest to make one?
I tried to port it myself with my minimal modding skills, but it turned out to be more complex than I expected: the furthest I got was getting the Samsung camera UI to appear and then pop up "Camera failed". I broke camera functionality entirely for all other apps, too
I'm now [slowly] downloading the Android source to see if I can make the necessary modifications to make Samsung's camera libraries work, but in the meantime, I'd love to know if there's something I missed in my searches. All I found was an XDA thread requesting a port of the GS3 camera to the GS2, and a thread on another board which included some interesting info from someone who had tried porting the GS3 camera to AOSP but nothing I didn't already know.
Any info on this would be appreciated. Thank you!
I dont think anyone is even trying. The aosp mod 2.60 in themes section is good but I recommend installing camera 360 from play for effects and cool hdr
The hdr is only an effect though

I took that as a challenge and have been working on it nonstop since yesterday
I have the camera working on my modded ROM now, I'm hoping to release the ROM and the source patches (for applying to other ROMs) once I get more of the features working (I would like to at least fix Low Light and the Camcorder) and knock out a couple issues like the app launching the non-existent TW gallery to view photos.
Here's a video as proof. Apologies for the quality, but I couldn't find a decent screen recording app: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYX4PSVDiIU
Now that I'm here again, I may as well ask- where would the best place be to post this? It's related to both a modded app and a modded ROM so I don't know whether it would fit better in Development or Themes/Apps.
Themes and apps, definitely

Has anyone implemented a good camera app for nine stock based roms?
By good I mean including slow motion recording and ultra HD?
I've searched and searched and cannot find one?
I assume from the lack of response that the answer is no?!
I dont know about an app for it but i can say the aosp roms camera quality is lower the stock based roms. that could be why those features are missing, as they dont have native camera access... search google for any aosp camera apps, universal ones might work...

Yeah. I agree. The quality from aosp roms is not as good. I've switched to a stock based ROM solely for the camera. But the stock based roms seem to deteriorate with time as the device gets more and more used and full.
All the camera apps I've tried I sent compared.
But I got this phone for the alleged excellent t camera!

This works well on AOSP ROMS.

Is the quality better than with the stock aosp camera apps?
To be honest, i don't know, i don't really use the camera that much. The app has some nice options though.
But reading again i don't think it does what you asked.

Just wondering, is it possible and how to get manual focus on any custom roms?
There was manual focus option in stock lollipop rom, but i never managed to find some camera app that will let me focus manually so far on custom roms. Im currently using Ressurection Remix 7.1.2.
Any help would be appreciated.

No,not touch focus. Manual, where you could set fixed distance for focus.

Yes I know what you're talking about, a fixed slider. It was a nice feature to LG's stock camera app but i'm afraid that's within their closed software and framework and I highly doubt it can be ported to AOSP correct me if im wrong
