Would installing the AT&T version of Jelly Bean (recently released) on my Rogers Note brick the phone?
I found instructions here on how to do it using ODIN.
Thank you for your assistance

That's because it's adding the new att modem/radio so that might be your issue, try to flash you're old baseband and see if it improves the signal.

Just flash I717UCMD3-Modem
I use Bell i717, just flashed I717UCMD3-Modem, and now it looks like the signal problem is perfectly solved. Need to test for a while tho, but signal bar comes back too.
I got the same issue with no signal/super slow on my Rogers i717. I just had to flash the modem from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2263380
and it worked fine right after. You would think its the exact same modem
Going to try to redownload and reflash this ROM to see if that fixes my no service issue....

ok i was haveing the same problem as Zacks so i flashed the att jellybean with odin this morning and it was still slow and had no signal then i flashed the UCMD3 modem with twrp and all is good i have good signal and the phone is acting normal(not slow)
I installed it on my I717r and it works well. Just had to install the rogers modems. Though the signal bar doesn't work in the notification bar but in the status it says I have -79dbm signal so I guess its working fine.
How to install properly:
1) Download darkside wipe( http://goo.gl/rvsQ2 ), the rogers modem ( http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/GalaxyNote/modems/ROGERS_MODEM-CWM-XLA2.zip ), Jellybean for ATT, Odin 3.07, and TWRP 2.4.0 tar ( http://goo.im/devs/OpenRecovery/sgh-i717/openrecovery-twrp-2.4.0.0-quincyatt.img.tar )
2) Put the rogers modem & darkside wipe in your sd card or internal drive doesn't really matter
3) Boot into TWRP and run darkside wipe
4) Reboot into download mode
5) Install Jelly Bean in Odin 3.07
6) Now install the TWRP 2.40 tar in Odin
7) Restart and boot into recovery and flash the rogers modem
8) Click reboot system. It'll ask you if you want to install super user, swipe to confirm
9) Now your phone will turn on wait until it turns on and you should see a notification saying SuperSU has to finish installing. Click that and follow the dialogs (if it asks you to flash or normal jsut click normal)
10) Download Uninstall master and give it root privileges. Now select all the crap bull**** you don't want, click uninstall.
11) After its done reboot and now it should be running pretty smoothly.
Got awesome battery life on this stock ROM. 8hrs in total and 4hrs on screen time with heavy usage.

Had the same issue, I'm using a Bell i717 for my Rogers phone, and what worked was the missing APN's.. if you check the APN's, do you have selected the one that has LTE on it? With it you'll be able to obtain LTE, that's how it worked for me!
Hope this helps

I am running CWM and the stock rom and like it much better. It seems to connect at startup to t-mobil 4g, but after a few minutes goes to edge. Is there anyway to make it stay on 4g? Is there a modem that I can flash that will work with the stock rom?
Thanks!!
I'm pretty sure that all the 4G radio/modem suggestions that are supposed to work on T-Mobile can be used on the stock ROM as long as the phone is rooted.
After the phone is rooted, would you use cwm to install the modem?

I'm having the same problem. My data works fine if I switch back to a gingerbread rom, but stops with any ICS rom. I've even tried to restore the APN's via APN backup and restore, but no luck.
Does anyone have a fascinate ICS rom working with MetroPCS internet yet?

Yes, I read the post above, but wasn't sure if this pertained to MetroPCS too. I don't have 3g with Metro.
Also, how do I apply the patch. Do I have to push using ADB or RootExplorer?

ive noticed on the fascinate that apnbackup and restore doesnt do much for ics+ so theres a file that is in system/etc/apn-config.xml full of apn settings just add metropcs and ic&e's apns in there using the format, its all the apns that your cdma phone can use, then make into a flashable zip and it will be ready to re-flash everytime you switch roms. i have to do this for my fascinate to get it to work on straight talk lol
if i knew what the apn settings were for them i would make you a zip, ill look into it later tho
So GB was easy to get hotspot to work by using titanium backup to freeze a seeded app. So what is the trick for ICS?

idk what ics version you have but the easiest way that worked for me was to download FOXFI app from PlayStore and yes it is free, works whether you are rooted or not.
or you can flash the latest ICS leak from link below and he made a hack for tethering.

ICS doesn't have that app in it. At least not the ICS Leak UCL5 that I am using.
Another update...
started over. ICS Leak ODIN install went smooth. CWM ODIN install went well. Root flash went well. Installed S-Voice (from same thread as the Tether hack) and it went well. Tried tether hack... stuck again at ATT Rethink Possible screen.
crap.
Well I am going to start over again and do everything except the tether piece since that hack doesn't seem to work for me.

Where do I find the settings ? It wasn't on CWM Touch or within the ICS Settings when the phone is booted up.
Am I being punked ?
"Electron_TetherHack+crt-anim.zip" is only made for Deodexed Rom and the reason your phone was stuck in boot screen because the rom that you had was STOCK ODEX ROM. what you should do is First flash the stock rom from the link that i gave you from CWM and then reboot and flash the Electron_TetherHack+crt-anim.zip... and it will work for you.
I am using the rom from the link below plus "Electron_UCLF5_15toggle_blueBatt.zip", "Electron_TetherHack+crt-anim.zip" and it the same Rom that you were using but this one is deodexed - zipaligned - rooted - debloated.... I hope this helps you.

I'm running stock, rooted and debloated ICS 4.0.4. Everything went fine for a few days after I installed through ODIN, but now when I try to send a text message it more often than not reboots (screen will go black and the phone will do short little vibrations until I hold the power button down for a few seconds). The rebooting has also happened a couple of times when I've been using the mobile data. I've wiped cache/dalvik to ensure that the problem did not come from there, and I wiped EVERYTHING before I installed stock ICS. Any ideas as to what it could be?

Thanks for the reply!
It's the stock ICS 4.0.4 firmware. Baseband: I717UCMD3. Kernel version: 3.0.8. Build number: IMM76D.UCLF6.
Flashed it through ODIN and rooted shortly thereafter. I've been looking through the forums trying to find someone having the same problem and I haven't. My GNote is AT&T branded, unlocked though. I'm using a NET10 SIM (NET10 runs on the AT&T network I believe). I've tried reflashing, wiping, whatever you can think of and still getting reboots/the vibration issue.

If you didn't flash an alternate modem, then you should be good. Maybe double check thread for modem supplied. You can just reflash modem or even try another.

Both Black star and Padawan are very stable even with stock kernel. Not sure how Phase will last with BS. Trickster Mod with either will allow you that little bit OC/UV without needing alternate kernel.
Good luck.

on another site (rootgalaxynote I think) the author recommended the Phase kernel with the Blackstar BlackJelly ROM. I'll give it a shot and if it's not stable I'll revert back to the stock kernel.
You can have different builds and basebands. That doesn't matter.
These phones sometimes get some lint in the power button and that causes reboots. Or the button isn't sitting in its opening exactly right, and a slight touch will reboot the phone.

I used to have the same problem, then I flashed CyanogenMod, and then used Greenify, SD-Booster, and Autokiller (apps) to hibernate my running apps, increase my cache size, and shut down all the background tasks. Suddenly, I had no more reboots or other issues. My phone is also super smooth, super fast, and the battery life is eternal.
Hi there!
I'm a proud owner of a Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 (bought in Israel) running 4.1.2 stock.
I've installed "Revolutionary S5 ROM V3" on it, but after a successful installation, the phone failed to recognize my SIM card, thinking there's no SIM card inside. I panicked and restored my NANDroid backup, and everything worked well, but how can I get Revolutionary S5 ROM (or any ROM for that matter) other than my stock ROM to recognize my SIM card?
By the way, I'm sorry I have to make a new thread about it rather than ask my question in the ROM's page, unfortunately it prevents me from doing so because of my low post count.
Thanks for your support!
Maybe an idea to search the threads before posting but since you asked nicely, http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=5942 here is the link to the updated modem, flash revolutionary s5 then flash this file in recovery and there shouldn't be any issues!

Thank you for your support! I swear I've been searching and haven't found an answer before though. Can you tell me about this file? What does it do? Is it reversible if I flash back to stock again?
OK what it does is it changes your EFS to V2 (anything before Android 4.3 used EFS v1 that's why you get no signal) http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=5557 download this app on to your phone (credits to Ricky) and then backup your current EFS.... And then flash the new one to use with all Roms that are Android 4.3 or higher but if you choose to revert to 4.1.2 for instance you will need your EFS V1 backup to get signal back, so basically backup, then flash rom (it's amazing) and then the file I posted earlier and stick with it!
