Exactly the words I had in mind.Even the alternative camera apps in the Market don't quite satisfy me.
But people,it's AOSP camera, not CM7 camera.CM has nothing to do with it.Although we can all agree it sucks anyway.
Um, yeah and its an AOSP camera. Just like everything in CM7 is AOSP. Just like everything has been modified, including the camera.
I think that warrants justification enough to call it 'CM7' camera.

Really?Holy cow,I didn't know they had modified it.I looked into it a little and only saw that AOSP camera is even worse.Just as fugly, but with less features.Way to go Google!

cm9 nightlies

Call me stupid, but where do I find any info about the details of the nightlies to the CM9 on: http://get.cm/?device=p4wifi
I'm pretty happy with the one from 2 weeks back, but would gladly update if they're significant, e.g. working front cam

There are a bunch if changelogs available on the net but to save you the hassle. Front cam doesn't work

There is no CM9 out which is using the newest 3.1 Kernel. But try BeeGees CM9 Build, ist uses the new kernel where are the frontcam is working. Click me
I was pretty surprised to see a new nightly come out last night and still without a working camera yet the CM10 builds out there it does work.. Shame that the CM development for the tab is so spotty (at best).

Pershoot is the device maintainer for out tabs for cm. Until he he is happy with sorting out a) - the bugs on kernel 3.1 then it'll be "Sent out" to cm who will then start using it to build frsh nightlies & probably cm10 ones aswell

Best Jelly Bean Rom?

Hey guys, i want to move on from ICS to JB, I have seen that the flykernel is a pretty good one... Which rom is the best in terms of:
1. Battery life
2. Performance
3. Stable
Thanks a lot for your future tips or recommendations.

Try CyanogenMod 10. Its stable, fast and almost everything working except front camera (It will work in future update)
you can also try p.a.c.

Ill try Pac, I hope everything is working there fine
My phone too. PAC is great but I can't get great battery life from it. Not disastrous life just a lot faster drain than the best ICS builds. Don't think it copes with the widgets i use.

Not a commercial(or maybe it is), but try my Nyandroid AOSP Jally Bean, it's the only fully AOSP rom out there and it has fixed front camera (in release 3 wich is uploading ATM), and it is clean and pure AOSP.

How can you compare when one is a kernel and another is a rom?
IMO, PAC rom is the best. You get the best support on the thread, with every two weeks (more or less) updates and currently dev is building 4.2 roms. Have a go at it ^^

p.a.c. and cm10 is rom that i suggest to use with flykernel v0.5a(jb)..for flykernel v.8 it support most ics rom..
first of all wrong section to post, there is a general or a q&a section but there is no such thing of best rom, best rom for me will prbably not suit you, and will be worse for you, and saying one is better than other is not ok for developers, try them all and choose the one you like more

Are there any good custom roms for the samsung galaxy player 5.0?

It seems that the roms i have seen aren't fully functional. There's always something broken like the camera,Bluetooth etc.At least from the roms i see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1720457
Could one of you guys give me a nice stable rom that has everything the stock has and more.I would like ICS but anything thats better than the stock is fine.Thanks.

The only bug on 4.2.2 Rom is the back camera not saving images. Recording still works and the front camera works, so unless you need the rear facing camera to take stills, a ROM based on 4.2.2 is your best option. Everything works just as well or better than stock, but if you want everything working, GB ROMs are the only option

Two questions before flashing an AOSP rom

Hey everyone.
Hope someone can help me.
Two questions basically:
1. Is there a way to get stock camera like quality with an AOSP rom? Last time I checked the picture and video quality was really really terrible in AOSP roms like CM, etc. Has this improved or is it possible to instal the Touchwiz camera on CM to get the stock picture and video quality?
2. What about battery life? I also remember it being much worse than stock. Any suggestions to make it better and more like Touchwiz rom? Maybe there's a good kernel that I should try to extend the battery life?
Thanks!

(1) cameras are mostly fixed and quality is also quite ok. I still feel Samsung was better in the past (whereas long time on aosp here)
(2) in the beginning, you are correct, battery was terrible, or at least less than TW roms, now I get nearly the same time out of it. (using slimbean)

1. Yes, it is almost the same.
2. Now battery life is the same, if not better than stock TouchWiz
I've gone through some AOSP rom threads and I still see people complaining about the camera
Is there some camera app that I would need to install or only use the AOSP stock camera that comes with the AOSP roms?

I haven't seen any complaints and when i'm not running a nightly the camera is great.
Cyanogenmod, I'm using it and in my opinion its the best ROM available, ive never had a single crash on stable versions (nightlies crash on the camera) battery life is great, performance is better than a lot of ROMs but not quite as good as Liquid Smooth and camera quality is also great. Beware that on the current CM11 nightlys the camera makes the phone crash so use CM10.2 instead.

Maybe you have not tried Stock ML2 yet. It is far better than 10.2 in terms of battery(according to your stats.)
I'm at 55% after 20 hours with 2 hours screen on time(heavy to moderate usage).

maybe 15 min music.
No gaming at all.
