when i flashed 4.2.1 a folder calls 0 came to us and actually it didn't help at all!
so now when im on 4.1.2, i tried a lot of things, wiped everything, cam back to stock, but it doesn't help to me, and why is that? ill tell you why.
because my gallery doesn't show photos that are not in the 0 folder.
what i mean? if i transfer my photos to the folder 0, ill see them there only. because if i transfer them to sdcard0, i won't see them.
and it also like this with my songs, it's like my media player of the galaxy doesn't recognize songs that are not in the folder 0.
what should i do? i deleted and transfered everything from 0 but it still doesn't work..
help plz anyone?
try aroma file manager
If you are on or plan on staying with any 4.2 roms I would strongly suggest you just leave it. Twrp has been optimized for it and it's not even an issue anymore.
If you still want to remove it just delete it in any file manager. Might want to look through it and save anything of importance first tho.

i am not using 4.2 anymore, im using 4.1.2, and that what happens to me when im on 4.1.2
start fresh with a megawipe
Full wipe
Try a full wipe.
Hope this helped.
a "wipe" won't format the internal SD
with the app Root Explorer or similar.
once you flash your 4.1.2 rom just use any file manager and get rid of the folder.
make sure to take out your pics and backups before you do that.
You also can do the wipes (data, cache...)

If you're unrooted, wipe data will hopefully remove 0 however if you're rooted it wont.
If none of the above methods work, wipe / format /sdcard from custom recovery

-=Mission=- Create a Backup rom of everything Apps/Settings/tweaks/background/widgets.
I have the latest Clock work MOD recovery, And I rebooted into recovery and clicked backup then I pressed backup again which created a folder in clockwork folder named Todays Date. But this folder is only 16mb I have a feeling that the info is in the blobs folder what is the point of that the blobs folder literally has over 2000 folders its not neccerally big in size but because there are so many files it takes ages to copy. My aim is to copy my backup to my computer and copying the blobs folder is just a massive ammount of time.
SO Instead of pressing backup this time I pressed create Image.zip
this time it created one zip file which is perfect but its only 569mb.
My original Rom that I flashed was 830mb and I also added apps so in reality this zip should be bigger then the original flash zip
My 2 questions:
1.Whats the simplest way of creating a a backup which i can transfer back and forth from my computer when I want to test roms?
Because when I flash a new rom I always wipe data and all cache so its a fresh install which means if I leave my backup on the phone it will dissappear which is why i want a nice backup which i can transfer back and forth
2. What is that image.zip consist of and I was told its flashable, Is it?
Please read carefully before you answer thank you so much for your help
Nandroid backup not using blobs method .
Backup to ext sd card .
Also if you read the instructions where you got root and CWM from i recall a non blobs instructions .
Nandroid does not backup EFS folder nor modem .

Yeah use an older cwm. Search for chainfires cwm in Android development something like v1.5 I think it should be cwm version 5.5.8.0 or something like that. The new backup way with blobs folder is since cwm v6

CWM write yours backups in folder called clockworkmod\backup\ inside SD Card
Each backup made in CWM is writed in a diferente folder inside backup folder with a date of backup.
Don´t write your backup inside phone storaga, because every time that you do a factory reset the system clean this partition and your backup is gone.

Yeh thanks but I am actually trying to create a backup of my entire Rom including the Stweaks/wallpaper/widget setups/Apps <<<< All in one backup package so that when i flash another rom and I dont like it I can go back to how it was with one flash
By default it backups to external storage unless you press backup to internal storage(this is how cwm 5 works) and all your apps and wallpaper etc are in there.
However just a correction pressing wipe/factory data does not remove your internal storage it only removes the apps and settings not ur actual data ie pictures or songa etc..

Titanium backups apps not roms .. so if you flash an aosp/aokp rom and try to restore sammy system apps lots can go wrong.. cwm restores the rom as a whole including your kernel csc modem etc .. which fairs far better if you want to try custom roms and wants a stable build to come back to.

I am in need of freeing up space on my device. Out of the 16Gb I only have 2.xGb available now. I do have at least 2 backups on my phone, and 2 helium backups. Looking at the math, they should not take up that much room:
Stock.zip 1.7G
slim.zip 1.6G
Helium1 642MB
Helium2 733MB
= 4.65G
So that really doesn't make any sense to me. I reviewed my apps and I had a lot of google play cached, but I deleted all of that data through app management. So I can't figure what is taking up all of this space.
1. if I delete my backups from the device, which I have transferred to my computer, and then paste them back in, will they work? Will they work if I format the phone?
2. In reality I would have no problem formatting the phone to wipe everything and flash a rom again via OTG cable through CWM. However, I am at a loss as to what selection(s) in CWM I make to fix my problem.
1) there is actually only 11-12G actually available to the user, on all DNA's, on all ROMs
2) you can move back ups around. i keep a copy of mine in dropbox and on my computer, but never on my phone.
3) you have to have apps, app cache, music, pics, ect to have such little space. you need to look at your /data partition and your /sdcard partition when calculating space.
4) wth is helium?
Helium used to be carbon backup. But I'll look at my directories and review the space used
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Ok. So I was able to free up a bunch of space and removed a single backup, leaving stock.zip on board in case of crashing and need of assistance with Verizon though 99% unlikely to happen. I was having major issues finding where helium stored its data because it is blocked from the user. But luckily the Storage option in >Settings>Storage in slimbean is much greater in depth than I'm used to. So I was able to detect where a lot of my data was coming from which was various sources, but some were helium/Carbon, and also old DL files of CM that were sitting around.
But for the sake of knowing, If I did want to wipe everything through CWM and format, would I choose everything? or just a single option.

well its been a while since i've used CMW, and im on TWRP. but it depends on how far down you want to format. if you want to just do a regular wipe, and reload a new rom then the usual wipe is your /system, /data, /cache, /dalvik, and /boot. im not sure what CWM calls them, but those are the usual partitions. just make sure you have a new rom ready or a backup. if you wanted to reformat even FURTHER than that, you could flash the stock rocovery and do a fac reset. but thats only if you are have major issue across all roms.
OK. Thanks for the response. I'm going to research why so many people tend to prefer twrp now.

If u came from a Rom that was on 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 to a Rom that is 4.2.2 then check the /sdcard directory.. not sdcard0. I think its also in data/media. Not sdcard/data/media but striaght data/media. Use a root file manager and if u still have files in there, then delete everything except the 0/ folder. Happened to me a couple times and I freed up around 2-4 gb everytime

I looked into that and saw what you were referring to. My only concern is that data/media is where my stock.zip recovery is saved. I'm not sure if I'm quite ready to remove that from my device yet. Also, do I need any of the CWM stuff found in data/media still? I am not referring to data/media/0.

Update: I'm glad I checked. I performed a backup of my current rom and CWM placed it in /data/media/clockworkmod. So this is an active directory that CWM is using for my backups. So I don't believe I'll be deleting the /data/media/clockworkmod directory. But will then anything else be impacted if deleted?

Also if you took pictures, downloaded stuff, or have music when you were on stock, then dont touch folders like dcim, download, music, pictures, ect. I personally move all my files when I switch between 4.1 to 4.2 fro. Sdcard to sdcard0. If you want to do that use a computer to make sure it transfered right because I used es filemanager once and it said it transfered but instead all of it was lost. I think someone made a .zip file that could transfer everything but I can't remember

I think it's related to this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2274218 I'm not quite sure but take a look at least.

Well screenshot abit later but ATM its like I've done hard reset from stock recovery least 4 times and its every time like that storage .Currently idk why its like that. When I enter the folders I don't find any content of any sort cause I've wiped every think clean .But still I'm left with 4.6gb storage and I have these 2 folders I typed only soooo its bumnmer

I have been wanting for a while to go back to my stock international GB but i am unable to do that. When i try to restore that backup, i get the error which says that i don't have enough space on the system partition.
Recently this post appeared in the development thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2599365
I tried to do this by myself by looking in the threads around here, but i only got to the point where i managed to install ubuntu and android dev kit.
Is it possible for someone to point me to the right resources in regard to patching a kernel and compiling it?
I think it would probably be much simpler and safer to try and figure out why does your backup not fit on the phone anymore. Did you wipe /system before restoring?

I have tried everything on this forum. My guess is that probably, in order to restore the system, cwm needs a little more space to do it's thing.(my version seems to be a little bigger then other ones)
So, this is my last chance to restore my GB backup. Unfortunately i haven't found a fruitcake for my version of the phone.

You can shrink the backup's system to fit your actual partition. To do so, open it wuth 7zip and delete apks, media and all you see is safe to remove. After that, and once you are ready, get the md5sum of the new backup file and replace the one in the txt with it. That way, cwm won't abort on mismaching sums

Clock is not opening and zoom option is not working on camera. I have 2 bugs but these are not imported for me right now.
I saw a update notification on my phone at Saturday night and I downloaded it. But I can not install this update package (MK71.2-le_x2-201710070930-NIGHTLY.zip - 647MB)
I saw second update information next day. But I can not install second update package again (MK71.2-le_x2-201710081057-NIGHTLY.zip - 647MB)
Phone is restarting and "File Corrupted" error appears.
Should I install whole package (647MB) ?
I want to install only updates and corrections.
How can I do this process?
I tried in Recovery mode or Fastboot mode but I failed. I got always "File Corrupted" error.
Please help me about this problem

Maybe you changed some system files. Anyway just download the rom from official website and try to flash it after wiping the dalvik and cache. Also if that still doesnt then do a clean flash by wiping data, system and cache. This should solve your problem

Maybe you changed some system files. Anyway just download the rom from official website and try to flash it after wiping the dalvik and cache. Also if that still doesnt then do a clean flash by wiping data, system and cache. This should solve your problem

Dont wipe internal storage, clean install means wipe everything except storage and usb option. Yes you will lose your apps, but all the other files like pics, videos and music will stay. If that is also a problem for you then download es file manager, open it you will see apps option. Click on apps then select all your apps and then you will see a backup option, choose the backup option. All of your apps' apk files will be created in your storage which will be inside the folder named backups. So free your mind and do it. Its better to lose some data rather than having a problematic device. Best of luck, i wish clean install solves your previous problems with mokee

Thans man but there has to mre easier way to do this. This is very hard for every update.
Is update process in Release Rom version works with same way?
I am looking for update process like normal phones. Click on update and system will do for me
I saw OTA update file for same update file but is was 20MB.
What is OTA update? Is this easier update file what I am looking for?
Thanks

Ota updates are about just installing the changes, not the whole rom again. Usually, custom roms are updated through a dirty flash where you don't wipe data. But if you start getting stuff corrupted or not working properly, a clean flash in recommended. It should be just this time when you need to use titanium backup. I think you can make a zip with all the apps and just flash it. Tho always have a backup of your rom

I think I can apply only updates with OTA zip file.
Should I copy to the root and flash from TWRP this file.
AM I right?
Thanks for titanium backup suggestion. I will try that.

Yup using titanium backup saves so much of time. Can you guys make me remember that which custom rom doesnt has inbuilt root cause then i wouldnt suggest the es file to other rom users.

Yeah you're right. You were also talking about some 600+ MB zip files. You can download them from their site and install through twrp. Anytime you install something it's recommended that you wipe Cache and Dalvik cache. You won't lose anything if you wipe just this. Just remember to make a backup

Yes but magisk is still root. I do remember that there is a rom which doesnt has root, you have to flash another root zip or magisk zip to activate root in it

If you don't want root just remove it. Magisk has an option to be uninstalled
