how do I keep the TP from turning on while on the touchstone? I don't want a clock or pictures, I just want it dark in my room at night. I can turn off the power when I first set it on the dock but when its fully charged on pops the screen again. How can I disable this?
Thanks
install preware if you dont have it already, go to patches and look for charge only option. there's several to choose from. pick one you like and use.
I'm pretty sure if you hit the power button after exhibition mode starts it will turn the screen off for good. But what I did was install the minimum brightness patch so now when its in exhibition mode it is much darker and much less bothersome when trying to sleep. To install the patch you'll need preware installed.

Do you happen to know the name? I found one called Quick System Tasks and it locked up my tab. I looked through all the prepare apps and only found that one.

Are you using the Preware app on your Touchpad?
Preware -> Available Packages -> Patch -> Search -> Enter "Charge"
The search is started by tapping the magnifying glass in the top button, which brings up the keyboard. Type in "charge" (without the quotes).

Or when it receives any notifications for that matter. I've resorted to just keeping the cover on the HP case closed so it covers the screen when I leave it on the touchstone overnight.

If you're talking about the temp of the device, I'm not really sure. I installed the minimum brightness patch the second day I got it because it was way too bright to have as a bedside clock. I also have a case on it, but it doesn't feel warm when I take it off the stone. Also, the lowest brightness with the patch can only be set in the screen and lock app. You cannot set it from the drop down on the home screen.

uhhh im sure he is asleep by the time it fully charges.
i have a solution
1) put the charger and the touchpad into a box
2) tape the box up
3) put my address on the box
4) take it to the post office and send it to me
that should fix your problem

I haven't been able to come up with a way to set my screen to full brightness while charging, and haven't found a solution with a search. I want it up as bright as it will go when the phone is in my car mount and plugged in, and I normally keep the brightness below 50% to save battery. It's a pain to switch the display setting each time I get in and out of the truck. I have Tasker, but I haven't been able to come with a way to do what I want with it yet, unless I'm missing something. Ideally, I'd have it automatically go to 100% with no timeout or dim when I plugged the phone in. Any suggestions?
I suggest getting a new phone.

Just swipe the notification bar at the top of the screen left and right to change the brightness, no need to go to display settings.
I am on Fenny's ics rom and in developer settings it has stay awake while charging but it was in Tasks rom also I just can't remember where.
Edit...I just searched play store market for screen control and seen a paid app called screebl it has settings for brightness in portrait and landscape (slider controls) and also a box to tick to disable while docked. I am thinking you could set it up with those options.

You see, now THAT is a useful bit of advice; I didn't know about using that gesture. Thanks for that, I know I'll get a lot of use out of that info now, no more trying to navigate to settings when I walk out into the sun. However, I would like to find a way for the screen to go to full brightness when I plug it in.

I'm on Tasks ROM; the stay awake setting I can do, but if I'm not mistaken it will still dim the screen after a bit, won't it?
Yea just hold you're finger on the furthest right of the notification bar after you plug it in. only takes a second.

Nice find thanks for sharing.
That app works perfectly. Thanks OP for starting this thread. I have always manually adjusted, so it's nice to skip the steps....and thanks to adfurgerson for the link!!
And fyi, I don't know if it's my phone, but no matter how I swipe the notification bar to adjust brightness, it never goes to 100% brightness. I always check in settings afterwards, and it's at about 95%. Maybe I've been doing it wrong, but with the above mentioned app, I no longer need to wonder.

Is your auto-brightness turned on?
I'd be a lot happier with auto-brightness if I had more control over it, like if I could set the baseline for it to adjust from, and maybe change the adjustment frequency.

I never use auto...what I'm referring to is the phone's overheating protection. My phone is charging right now and it feels warm around the edge and just under the back camera lens. I'm sitting pretty close to a warm fireplace. I'm sure if I were outside (45F) the screen wouldn't be dimming.

Sorry, not specific to my RAZR (stock) but is there a way to fix this. I generally check Amazon app store for the daily free app. Have updates turned off. Yet it eats up nearly as much battery a day as my screen. Is this a unique problem for me? I guess I could remove then reinstall...
Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk
I would contact Amazon tech support and report this. It sounds like a bug in their app; maybe too-frequent polling, or leaving a network connection open without proper error handling...
I'm quite sure they'll fix it really fast. It's important to them.
Thanks. I'll give them a call. I was curious if anyone else experienced the issue. I use circle battery widget to track use.

I keep forgetting to check the daily free app, but I don't even remember it showing up at all in Circle Battery widget.
Do you hit the home button or the back button to get out of the app? I use the back button, maybe using the home leaves it running.

It's not actually the Circle Battery Widget that displays the % used by apps, it's the Android battery meter. If you click on "Battery Usage" from within the widget menu it just pops up the Android OS battery usage dialog.
I had the same problem with the Android app. I'd even kill it with TaskKiller and it would just re-run itself. It was usually around 15-20% of usage on a normal day, so I just uninstalled it. It's not that big of a deal to me...I rarely used it.

I know thats where circle battery takes you, I was just stating for the sake of the OP that I check it the SAME EXACT WAY and it barely shows any if it even shows up. So the goal here should be to figure out why it uses so much for one person (the OP) and so little if any for another person (ME), not just the simple oh just delete it solution you posted.
I will try using the back button to see if it makes a difference.

For future reference, back button will typically close a program (when hit enough times till your back at a home screen) where home button leaves it running in the background.
This is happening to me also. The Amazon app is killing my Razr Maxx and that's saying alot. I've frozen the App with Titanium Back up for now waiting for a fix. What sucks is that while it's frozen I can't use any of the free apps I've installed. The battery drain is out of control. It's true it's only affecting some phones. There are scattered threads across multiple sites but they all just fizzle out with no idea how to fix it.

Well number 1 first thing to try is the standard, uninstall the app, reboot the phone (full power down and power up) then reinstall the app, don't just freeze it.
second, and more for my curiosity then anything, when you "exit" the app do you hit the back button till your back to the homescreen or do you hit the home button? This question is for all of you that are having the big drain, as the best way to track down a problem is to see what is different between the users without the problem and the users with the problem, and what is common amongst the users with the problem.

I tried your advice today, gonna keep track of the battery drain the next few days and let you know if it worked. As of right now I'm at 3 h 27m @ 87% so it's looking good.
And to answer your question, I use the back button to exit out of the app...then I would go to battery stats, click on Amazon and force close it.....that obviously didn't fix it.
Thanks for the advice!

It won't disappear from battery stats if it has already used from power, and what percentage is it using?
Battery stats do not show current battery usage but what has been running since the device was last fully charged.
Also, did you close the battery stats? It needs to be closed hnd reopened to show new stats.
Including a screenshot of the app "task manager" and Betterbatterystats would be nice too.

1. Follow this thread and enable full display: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/guide-hide-navigation-bar-status-bar-app-t3509747
2. Enable force long display in svc menu
3. download fingerprint quick action in playstore to use fingerprint as back and home button
4. if you want more control, download button mapper in playstore, assign volume down button hold for recents, and volume up button hold for toggle notification
sadly battery drain is an issue
enjoying full screen is the best, i wish phone manufactures enable some buttons at the back, imagine a near bezel less display fully utilized

very well jugdement there, so I've been only using it for 3-4 hours this morning (in cluding standby time), android system takes up to 4% (normally its around 5-6% at the end of the day). I'll however keep this hidden navigation bar till the end of the day. I'll update soon

I immediately put everything back to normal haha. Well if you are OK with battery drain, you should forever have it that way cause the screen is just so pleasant to stare at
I have tried the Nexus P thread way to hide the navigation bar (except for YouTube and whatsapp) and then use xda LMT 2.8 pie app and it is working great for me, without extra drain as of today.
I turned each app into 18:9.
