[Q] About a specific app - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
I was wondering if there is an app that can hide other apps and then you can only be able to open the hidden apps within the app that hides the apps.
Ok i hope you're still with me and i appreciate any response
Thanx
For example like Hide it Pro (Audio Manager) hides pictures and the hidden pictures can only be accessed from within Hide it Pro <-- exactle what i mean but with apps instead
Hope that made it abit more clear

Now that's impossible or maybe the best you could do is with launcher it wouldn't appear in app drawer but you could open it from another launcher or from installed apps

I thought hide it pro does exactly what your asking? Check again! LOL. If it isn't hide it pro, there is something. Also hides as a volume manager. Hides apps, pics, text, and phone calls.

I just checked. You answered your own thread. Hide it pro does in fact hide apps and more.

[Android] Hiding apps in the Drawer

Okay so I rooted my phone and have been having some fun with the pm disable <package name> command. I am wondering whether there is anyway to hide applications from the drawer but not completely disable them.
I have access to these apps on the home screen and don't need them taking up space on the drawer. Obviously this isn't that important, but I can appreciate good design and maybe this is possible (without a home replacement app!)?
Any help is appreciated
On some Roms you can hide these icons by opening the app drawer, long pressing on the icon you want to hide, dragging it onto the desktop (but dont remove your finger) and then when the app drawer closes, drag the icon to the trash.
Not all ROMs allow this but some do.

What you're referring to is the advanced launcher here is the link to it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540880
I think what the poster wanted was a stand alone way to do this without having to rely on one particular ROM or having to use any particular launcher/home replacement.

Advanced launcher is just an advanced version of the current home though. You would be able to use it and not even know that it's not the default launcher, it works exactly the same, looks exactly the same and behaves the same bar a few added features like folders in the drawer, hiding applications and setting the number of homescreens.
This thread is pretty old, but I can't find an answer to this question anywhere else. Is there any way to hide apps in the drawer? I have a rooted evo with sense. There must be a way someone has found by now!
Only way I know of is an alternate launcher. I use Launcher Pro and that allows hiding icons.

I want to do this too
it can be done from root explorer renaming app.apk to app.bak
but some will not work
Well there is this app and it seems to work as described with a ton of bonus features... Just make sure to restart you phone after hiding the apps to make it work.

Er. No it doesn't - it just hides files
Actually it does remove files and i just used it. After long pressing the "audio manager" logo it comes to menu with one icon being "hide apps". Click and select what to hide.

How To: Add Sideloaded, Market, or Amazon apps to stock Nook launcher & App Library

How To: Add Sideloaded, Market, or Amazon apps to stock Nook launcher & App Library
If anyone else is looking for an easy way to add a few extra Android apps to the home screen without replacing the B&N launcher, I found that this old app designed for the Nook Color works great on my rooted Nook Tablet. It adds an app to the stock Nook launcher that allows you to browse all apps on the device. Once a sideloaded application is "added to apps", it can be pinned to the launcher panels and added to shelves like B&N market apps.
"Nook Color App Manager - This app adds itself to the Apps section and provides a way to browse the sideloaded apps without the need for a separate launcher."

Thank you for sharing this.
This is awesome. It really works. Now if some could figure out how to keep the back button on permanently on the status bar.
Someone posted to swipe right to left on status to go back when the back indicator isnt there.

Does this work? https://market.android.com/details?...SwibmV0Lmhvb3Bham9vLmFuZHJvaWQuU29mdEtleXMiXQ..
It allows you to put the soft keys on the status bar. Haven't tried it yet...at work.
Root is needed.

Can you or someone please post the apk file for the "Nook Color App Manager" or a way to get it? Mine is not rooted and I do not have another Android device at this time, but I would like to add the application. Thank you very much for the information.
Does the Nook have to be rooted for this to work?
No, root not needed.
Here's a d/l link to App Manager from my Dropbox account.
Enjoy.

Download Button Savior from the market - it provides a pop-out menu on the side of the screen that gives various commands, including back function.
Thanks for the apk!!

CONFIRMED, when the Back button isn't there, a swipe from right to left on the status totally works. Now I don't need Button Savior anymore, so I removed it. I use Go Launcher EX as a kind of "Control Panel" for the Android OS and the stock NT Home Launcher with this AppManager for general use.
I love my NT.
I also installed App Manager 1.4. The one problem I notice is that if you go to My Library and then Apps, the apps are there but some the apps I installed off Amazon App Store or manually do not launch. When I tap an App like the Amazon Apps Store, it just brings up an Overview Screen. Any idea how to fix this?
The Apps launch fine from the BN home screen, but not from the BN Library / Apps Screen.
Examples of Apps not launching are Amazon Kindle, Aldiiko, Overdrive Media, Opera Mobile, Dolphin Browser HD, and AndroXplorer.
How do you install this on the NT? I have the apk, on my SD but it says unsupported when I goto App's my file list.
Install ES File Explorer and then you can run apk files.
load sideload app from SD card possible?
I#m afraid to connect the NT to the web in case of automatic software upgrade from B&N. I run the software 1.4.0 .
Can i download an app from my NOOK tablet ?
I do have the AppMenu.apk and tgps_launcher.apk on the SD card. The NT is unrooted and registered.

I've got the same problem. Except it's all my apps, either downloaded from the Android Market, or elsewhere. All you can do from the apps screen is manage the apps.
Would like any tips if possible. Thanks!
Select the app and add to home. From the home screen they will launch just fine.

Yeah, get that. I was hoping to have it run from the My Library screen. From reading around I guess it doesn't work that way. Can't have everything I guess.
Thanks

[Q] Creating a label in Titanium Backup Pro 5.3.2

Hey people,
I don't know if I'm really stupid, or something weird is going on here.
I recently bought the latest Pro version of Titanium Backup (5.3.2). Works brilliantly! If you don't have it yet, buy it, it's so worth the money! (If you flash different ROMs often). But there's one thing.
I would like to auto backup a few of my system settings, but nowhere near all. So I read something about creating a label, which you could use in the planner. But following instructions on creating such label, I get stuck. Instructions are: MENU > Filters > Create Label.
The menu part, I guess, means hitting the three dots, bringing up the options menu. After that: No Filters thingy. Nowhere to be found.
Am I missing something or is this a bug or something?
Cheers
No filters menu
I can't find the Filters menu either.
Galaxy Nexus, rooted, stock ROM.

Select Backup/Restore, then Click to edit filters, then Create label (near the bottom).

Indeed, found it. Thank you for your reply!
Apps Organizer
There is also a separate app in the Play Store called Apps Organizer. The labels it creates seem to be visible in some (but not all) places in Titanium.
titanium back up has failed me every time I needed it.
I created labels but after changing the rom I could not recover the labels. Even though I clicked the auto synch option and followed the instructions.
The only time this application is useful is when you don't change any thing. In such case I would rather use nandroid back up.

Hide apps without root

Hi everyone,
As the topic suggests, I'm looking for a way to hide apps without root.
The only solutions I could find so far:
#1: install another launcher that let's you hide apps from the drawer.
Cons: apps still active and reachable from application settings.
#2: installing Knox and adding those applications will put the data in a separate account.
Cons: apps still visible, but with different data base
#3: install finger security and lock them down with a fingerprint.
Cons: apps still visible
#4: guest mode
Cons : not yet added to available firmwares
Does anyone knows an other way to hide/deactivate/freeze apps without rooting the phone?

And how do you do that exactly? Pressing Edit in the app drawer simply adds the - sign to any apps which can be uninstalled. There is are no hide or rearrange options as far as I can see? You can go into Settings>Applications>Application Manager and then in each app you want to hide press Disable (this does the same as the Titanium freeze feature and locks it down and removes it from app drawer).
I wrote a post over at reddit about hiding and disabling apps. I can't post an external link but here is the URL below.

You will need to install Nova or another launcher to hide apps from the app drawer.

Thanks
I found an app in the play store called "package disabler pro" it doesn't need root and has disabled everything I've asked it to so far...including the stuff that I've needed root for in the past.
An alternative would be http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/debloater-remove-carrier-bloat-t2998294 I tried it yesterday and it works quite nice, got confused in making it work at first but just download the app from http://rootjunkysdl.com/?device=Android Programs&folder=DeBloater and then watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7OFGIu1f0I

moving calling app icon

Hi,
I have a problem with the phone app icon. I don't know really what i did, but the phone icon is now on the superior part of the screen. I can move it to anywhere i want but not to its initial place. Can You please help me ? Thanks.
You probably have too many icons in the bottom of the screen. Move one out and then try.
I only have three icons now. Normally, they are four.
Another question please : how can i add a picture to m'y thread ? Thanks.
Drop the phone icon onto the desktop, then from the desktop drag it down to the lower bar.
---------- Post added at 10:49 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:47 PM ----------
Are you sure it's the phone icon, or a widget you created with something like Notifier. You cannot move widgets to the lower bar.
yes, i'm using the original app. I added no alternative phone call app nor widget.
When you are talking about the desktop, i presume you are talking about the upper part of the screen.
Ok, actually the icon is there. on the top. when i tries to move it, i gets the search screen.
at another hand, when i opens the customization screen, i can deplace the icon. but i cannot see the lower bar. instead of it i have 4 icons : wallpaper, widgets, transitions and "more...".
You simply put your finger on it and hold it for a second, then it will move with your finger. Place it where you want
haha ! it simply works
Thank you
