strange thing happened yesterday, sgs2 is in boot loop help.

Hello everyone, seems it wont just let me ask this in leomars thread I'll have to post a new thread here.
I installed some mods from revolution app yesterday and not my sgs2 is stuck on the Galaxy screen. Before the boot animation. I cannot flash leomar base in cwm because the file is no longer on my sd card. I was wanting to know how I can convert the base rom to an odin file and flash it so my phone can boot again.
Thanks in advance. Would not like to wipe it as I have no backups either. If i have to thats ok, not much on it, just have to try and remember what apps I had lol. But I really dont want to wipe.
need 10 posts
another one

one to go....
this rule sucks man....
another one again
You need to wipe. You can't fix it. Follow the steps described in the Sticky 'BOOTLOOP? DON'T MAKE A NEW THREAD.'-topic.

[Q] is there a simple way to move from one rom to another

hi i have litening 6.1 installed on my SGS2 but as litepro (litening's maker) has technically retired i am thinking of moving to CyanogenMod7, is there an easy way to do this, as i am totally new to all this.
thanks for looking in.

Yes, follow the installation guide that the ROM developer took the time to write for installing his/her ROM.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
After a little practice flashing new roms is like changing your t-shirt. I've found the instructions to be quite similar with most roms. Just double-check for specific variations and use paid backup tools. 15 mins to get completely up and running with a new rom if you're optimized.
Flash this kernel with ODin: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118693
Then install it with CWM. Flash it twice or it won't work,.
sorry for putting it in the wrong section (newbie)
ive downloaded CWM from the market but will have to do some reading as its all foreign to me, is flashing a kernal just like flashing a rom using odin, only point it to the kernal?

You put it in PDA (it must be a .tar file, so don't extract it. If it is a zip file on't flash it through ODIN)
DO NOT check repartition.
After flashing the kernal I gave you, you will have a CWM version that is compatible with CM7 but you wil need root for this.

You don't need ODIN to flash subsequent kernels unless specified by their author/developer. The ones I've flashed have necessitated a cache wipe & a davlik cache wipe followed by an installation from the sd card & reboot. Done.
EDIT: don't listen to me if your question is specifically about kernels for use with CM7 because I haven't flashed that ROM but inevitably will end up there.
Don't let the jargon and nomenclature dampen your spirits. After my first flash things started to click. It seems like instructions for flashing roms and kernels are usually tailored for real power users who have quite a decent grasp of all the terminology and concept. I'm sure part of that is just the sheer frequency of these geniuses doing write-ups (that and the fact that many of them use English as a second language). But after actually using CWM and some of the tools referenced in these forums things just start to click.
I'm a pure noob myself but will be happy to lend any assistance where I can. After all I'll need much of the same courtesy.
anonomike, like you said because its all new to me its very daunting, especially when i read stories of people getting their phone stuck on a certain screen and bricking it. (ive read this is almost impossible) i will have a go at it later today, so everybody stay where you are (just in case )

[Q] Can't Restore Nand Backups

i've flashed a few Roms already and often i'd have an SD issue after loading. for some reason i'm unable to mount my SD yet everything else would seem to be fine. (thats not the point of this thread but if you may know the reason that is, please let me know). anyway, so i'd try restoring my backup i made with my previous Rom, but for some reason, after finishing the restore process, it never boots up properly. it would always stay at the boot animation. I've had this same issue every time i've tried to restore and i've tried on a few different roms now. I'd always end up having to use the RUU to return to stock and then repeat the whole unlock/root process. i'm S-on, using the AmonRa recovery.
Is nand retsore not possible with the Rezound as of now or am i missing something?

You are missing a lot. The main problem is you are s-on and on gb firmware still. For the sd card you need to go find a Rom with sd card fix for non ics users. I know bored has it in his rezrom threads or just search for sd card fix. You flash that in recovery after flashing the Rom and before booting up the phone and your sd card problem should be resolved. Now your other problem is also because you are s-on. Recovery will not restore the boot.img unless you are s-off. So every time you restore you most likely have the boot.img from the last Rom you used which now is not compatible with your backup. You need to flash the boot.IMG in fastboot or save the ph98img.zip on the root of your sd card so they flash once you enter the fastboot after flashing the Rom and sd card fix. Now these are well documented issues and instructions are in the first few post of every Rom thread so you should have been able to find this yourself. I have also noticed attention to detail and following instructions is not your strong point so you may not want to attempt s-off on your own but if you try I suggest reading through all known problems and instructions several times so there is no confusion.
Bob out!

I wouldn't have felt the need to post this question if the answer was in plain sight. i do read through the Rom thread several times before attempting to flash it and when i came across these problems i went through them several more times and even looked through the first 5 to 10 pages of comments to see if anyone else had the same issue and only when i found nothing did i feel the need to post this. its disappointing how no senior member on this site can answer a question without passive aggressively calling the asking user an idiot. I hope that one day you understand when a user has a problem, that there is a possibility that the solution wasn't available to them in the thread and that XDA may have added the Q&A forums so that these users may find these solutions without receiving a demeaning lecture from someone who feels that everyone's level of knowledge on a specific subject must match his own before taking any sort of action.
But i have my answer now so thank you for that..
Not sure you understand how many times your exact questions have been asked. It's tiring answering the same question over and over when if the original poster had looked a little harder would have found the answer. I have personally helped several people within the last 2 weeks with the same problem and if you used the search function or scrolled past the first 2 threads would have found your answer. I apologize for the demeaning answer but I'm sure you will look a little harder before posting next time.

Help!

Hi Guys, I had previously been using resurrection remix rom for a few months, worked fine...
I wanted to go back to stock so i downloaded the latest stock vodafine firmwirm from sammobile:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&model=GT-I9100T&pcode=VAU&os=1&type=1#firmware
EVENTS: I cleared cache and davlik cache and tried doing the process through clockwork recovery, which obviously failed because I forgot that you needed to get into recovery.
So I turned off my phone, loaded the resurrection rom and went back to that.
The next day I reread the procedures and did it properly via recovery through odin, I have tried this with 2 different firmwares and they both finished with a pass but get stuck at the same point.
PROBLEM: It doesn't get past the glowing S logo.. with either firmware, branded or unbranded.
Please helppp!!!!
Bump!
updated, could someone please help
You may have to wipe data/factory reset when downgrading from JB to ICS. Did you do that?

can anyone help?
Boot into recovery, wipe/factory reset ? If you can't manage that Bootloop thread.
Hint - Thread titles like 'Help !' tend to get you the exact opposite of what you're looking for.
Extra hint - That you didn't know how to do a factory reset suggests to me you should read the Guides and learn basics before you end up adding your phone to the Great Wall of XDA.
Hint 3 - Do not bump a thread after 21 minutes ever again. If I catching you doing so, I will make it my life's work to have you thrown off here permanently. People here have lives. There's not 478 people sitting around doing nothing just waiting to answer questions from people who didn't RTFM within 5 minutes of them posting a question :-/ What people like you need to understand is, many people who used to answer questions here have either sold their S2's & moved on (or moved on for various other reasons *cough*). There is simply not the same number of people around to help bozos who get in over their heads.

[Q] Help with porting ClockworkMod Recovery to Verizon Note 2

*ALL LINKS ARE AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST*[/COLOR]
Please note that I am a new member of xda-developers, and this is my first time using this fourm. Please try to make your response "noob" friendly.
Hello, I'm a new owner of a Verizon Galaxy Note 2. I hate TouchWiz however, and am looking into custom ROMs. Luckily, my favorite ROM CyanogenMod 10 has tinkered its way overto the Verizon Note 2. I know what to do, as in root the phone, unlock the bootloader, install a custom recovery, download the CM 10 port and Gapps, finally flash the ROM and Gapps to the phone. The problem is that I have NO CLUE ON EARTH on how to do this and am exceptionally lost. The new bootloader unlock method (which some may be aware of) is that it installs Twrp recovery. To use this port of CM 10 (Sbissen's port, link down below) you must use ClockworkMod recovery to make sure that this ROM port is installed correctly. Even though there is a link in Sbissen's CM 10 thread, Im still lost on how to correctly install CWM. Again, the problem is that I have no idea how to replace Twrp with ClockworkMod. I really, really, really, REALLY want to use Sbissen's CM 10 port, as it is dang near perfect to a stable build. If anybody can post in this thread detailed and NOOB friendly instructions on how to replace Twrp with CWR as mentioned in this post (and linked below) it would be GREATLY appreciated, as I want to get CM 10 working on my Verizon Note 2 very badly. Please help me if you have the time and can. Cheers and Happy Holidays!

Hopefully someone can help me!
Just download the zip file for CWM mentioned in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2045587
put the zip file on your phone (either on the internal memory or on the external sd card if you have one), reboot into recovery mode (twrp) and flash the zip file just like you would with any other file, this will replace TWRP with CWM
Ok take this with good intentions on my part. I spent weeks reading forums before I decided to get the note. I was back and forth on the DNA. I know how to unlock root and rom both from "reading". I came from the Fascinate and flashed the hell out of that phone and feel eniterly comfortable cuz I "read" I have followed many great devs from all three phones and the bottom line is always "read". If you are unsure "read" if you are still unsure "read". I have had my phone for 2 days now still stock... and still reading even though I am sure I could easily do whats necessary become a crack flasher. I am still "reading". My suggestion just sit back read the posts see wut others are having problems learn from these great devs and others who are way more knowledgeable than me. And when you feel completely comfortable... flash away my friend.
These guys will put forth the effort to help you as long as you meet them half way!
Happy reading!

Thank you so much, you don't know how much this has helped!
Oh and also, is there anything else I need to do like wipe the phone and/or reset cache?
