[solved] status 7 error,installation aborted s2 i9100 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Status 7 error, installation aborted on samsung galaxy s2 i9100m. i cant seem to install the 3.5 update with filename "pa_grouper-3.50-05MAY2013-002917" it always ends up in error. is it possible that that update is not for my unit? keeps on running that error on other updates too except for "pa_i9100-3.00-12FEB2013-210537" cant seem to flash to a newer version. ANy thoughts on this? thanks in advance.
P.S. i bkticed that the video player does not pop out like it does on the officil 4.1.2. I cant multitask by sending emails while watching a movie. or is there any video player app that does the same?

Paranoid android 3.0. It wont upgrade to 3.15 or 3.5. 3.0 is still 4.2.1 . i want to upgrade it to 4.2.2. And regarding the video play,it doesnt have that tweak on the s2 where the screen can be minimized for multitasking.

I think that video player is found only on stock based roms, which PA rom is not.
Let me check the PA thread and see what I can find.
Edit:
Status 7 error occurs when asserts verification fails. It could be because you have downloaded the wrong file, or ur rom is broken.
Check the MD5 sums to verify the rom is not corrupted.
And does PA rom install 'as is' on the I9100M or do u need to change ur device's build.prop?

i downloaded a and redownloaded it 3 times and 3 files already. still no luck.the paranoid android download is just confusing.too many download links. lol. will check the file when i get home. i think its the "m" on i9100m thats confusing the installation. it aborts it.

That's what I thought too. Because I can't find PA rom for the I9100M.
Both I9100 and I9100M have similar hardwares, and hence roms should be compatible. But maybe there is a script that checks to see if u have I9100 in the new PA roms.

i think so because i noticed that most of the users who are having this problems are i9100m and i9100g users. there was a solution where you edit the roms file and delete the first three lines that have assert on them and the last line that has assert on them too but it disnt work for me. i like this rom because it has tablet ui option to it and has the feel of the cm 10.1 and u can edit the per app colors. they just dont have a decent/well arranged download site. hope i get the update. some features are missing with the version that i installed.

You need to change your kernel either to siyah or dori..
Then go ahead..you should not have that error again.

i already have a dori kernel. i read the main thread. the project is temporarily closed. so the link on the websites are not for i9100, its for nexus 7. thats why i had a problem with the build.prop because it wasnt a build for i9100. thanks anyway. siyah,dori or cm kernel works on it.

Just use an app called popcorn player it does the job just fine.

Someone else is developing it. Fldc made a new thread. I really like the hybrid option. I wish there was a more stable custom rom with hybrid option and per app color. I left cyanogenmod for that.

Its the same with paranoid android but more stable.can u edit the drawer,homscreen transition animation and the number of docks? I downloadint now
