I just recently replaced the USB flex cable in my galaxy s2 because it was playing up. After putting the phone back together I turn it on and now the phone will not boot. It gets to my carrier (optus) logo and then the samsung logo, and then it just does it again and again. Could it be the flex cable? Faulty? I have tried reflashing firmware through ODIN.
Thanks.
What version Android ? If you're running anything other than 4.0.4, boot into recovery & try a wipe/factory reset in the first instance. If you are running 4.0.4 (even tho the brickbug almost always only affects people who wipe via CWM, there have been some cases of it happening to people with stock recovery), don't wipe.
I'm running stock 4.1.2 from Optus.

So try a wipe in the first instance then.
For some reason I can't get into recovery mode. Volume up+Home+Power just goes to boot normally.

Are you sure you replaced the flex cable with the correct version.....there are 3 versions available for that part......

I purchased one from eBay. It said that it was compatible with the GT-I9100, but I'm not convinced it is working. I was counting on selling that phone...
Is there any way I could confirm my suspicions?

Have you still got the faulty board?
In very small printing (on the board) it'll say "GT-I9100 REV2.X" this will either be 2.2, 2.3 or 2.4....
You need to buy the matching board, or it won't function properly. .....

After spending all night wiping with no success, I opened up the phone again just to make sure everything was connected. I checked the 5 ribbon cables, and to my surprise; I only see four. I was sure that their was five, so I lifted up the board and what do you know, the fourth ribbon cable was tucked away underneath. Reconnecting it and wiping the phone through my now accessible recovery menu made the phone work like new.
Thankyou to everyone.

Hi
I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100G in dead condition when i connect to pc it ask OPAM4430 driver. and i have installed but i cannot active it to download mode even i cannot see anything on LCD screen.
any on please help me to flash this phone with any rom.
Regards.
First of all, what did you do first? What I can say is try do this when phone is off. Power, volume up and home button at same time. See if this works. If you get, try selecturing wipe and see if the full wipe solve the problem.

A phone wont just die like that.If you did something to it then give some details althought it sounds like a kernel problem. The wipe idea is a good one, probably your best bet as you wont be able to use odin.Do a full wipe.
Boot to recovery (power+home+vol up)
Wipe cache partitiion,go to advanced and wipe dalvik cache (go back)
go to Mounts and Storage and format System,Cache,Data(go back)
Factory reset and reboot. If you get a bootloop then pull the battery, put it back in and reboot.
If you cant get to recovery or download you could try fussdownloader but im not sure if it works with the G model.Anyway the drivers can usually be found seperatelly and installed if you google for them but may or may noy not help.Worth a shot.
actually i got this phone from my friend and he say some one try to Nuke it i don't know how.and i cannot go to recovery mode by pressing volume down home key and power key also it not detecting on Odin

Sounds to me like someone made a mistake trying to flash it and put the wrong firmware,or worse, the wrong kernel in Odin. Most people brick their i9100G phones with i9100 firmware.they are not compatable. The only thing I can suggest is try and find out if there is a RiffBox JTag service available for the G-series.It is for most other models. What it does is wipes and repairs the motherboard and bootloader.Ive had one done on an i9000 for 35 euros so its not an expensive job.Just need to find out if its available for your device.Ill leave a link below,Its an old one,but its a list of places world wide where they do it.If you dont see one close to you then use the page and google to search for one closer to your location.since this page was released the JTag has become more available in more areas.so you should find one close to you.good luck.

thank you very much for your clear reply and ill try and inform you.
Any one can give the correct jtaf pinout for i9100g
same problem for me, friend gived me i9100g bad flashed with i9100,
now it is dead and ask for omap4330 drivers when connected to pc.
It not go in download mode and not go in recovery.
I'm triyng to flash boot with riff but riff not detect it

here are pinouts for @pmmali
how did you solder it??? its very tiny....
Lol.....VERY steady hand, a fine pointed soldering iron and a magnifying glass are all necessities.
Word of caution.....don't jtag if you want to send the phone to Samsung (under warranty).....they'll see that some "unofficial rework" has taken place and deny liability for warranty repair on that basis. ....

In clockworkmod recovery, I did not flash a kernel beforehand, and formatted the phone with wipes:
1. cache wipe, 2. factory reset/data wipe, 3. Dalik wipe or something in advanced
Afterwords, choose zip from internal sd card
from there I tried to install Rocket ICS V10 downloaded from xda, it crashed and went into blackscreen
The phone is now completely unresponsive. Power button. USB. Nothing.

What are the options now? To send it back to Rogers and Samsung repair?
What do I tell them? That I was updating through KIES?
The problem is that they have locked the Gingerbread -> Icecream
preventing users from updating and encountering that "MMC-chip" bug that I've been reading about.
That's probably a procedure to prevent that, they've been noticing the amount of bricked Notes popping up left n right
So... back to my question: What can I tell them?
Maybe its bricked because you flashed a international Note (N7000) ROM onto your i717 Note? Do you have an i717 Note?

can you get into download mode by holding down Volume Down button and Power button. When your screen goes off, keep holding down Volume Down button but let go of Power button??? if you can then try this:

My Note quit on me last Monday all I did was a restore back to ICS Stock and it just would not come back on -Take it back to Rogers or wherever you got it and tell them that you were upgrading to ICS THEY WILL GIVE YOU ANOTHER ONE there was some bug during the upgrade process using the Kies ( so they say AT&T ) and they will swap it out for a refurb one - what's funny is that I did the same thing cache wipe, factory reset/data wipe, cache wipe restore & my phone did not come back on.
Keep your head up and remember that when you are flashing custom Roms you need to check every thing, read, then then re-check - then re-read EVERYTHING - You will be back up and flashing incorrect roms in no time. "It's hard out there without that Note" Young fella, Good Luck

None of the other posts I have read really seemed to answer what exactly happened to my phone.
I recently rooted my GS2 using ODIN and everything went over perfectly .
I noticed soon after that when the phone was turned on, the Samsung screen would appear, have a yellow triangle with an '!' in it, and also say I9100 (Which was the immediate give away something wasn't right).
Before I could do anything to the phone to fix the issue, the phone shut off on me, and now won't turn back on.
I have tried booting into recovery and download modes and can't get past the initial screen. The phone also will not charge.
When I connect it to the PC, it is recognized as a Samsung device, but not in ODIN.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT:
After troubleshooting, I gained access to download mode. Reflashed, and everything is okay.
Also that i9100 screen with the yellow triangle is normal. There are posts about how to remove the triangle by flashing a stock kernel or you can buy a jig on ebay.

please don't give information unless you know enough about the issue. Its awesome to try and help. But if you end up costing someone more time and aggravation by guessing or not knowing if you're right or not its almost better to let someone else field the question. As previously stated there's an app that fixes this.

Yupp exactly
Hi guys..Sorry for use this thread to expose my case. Yesterday late, I intended to replace the kernel in my Galaxy2 and I don't know why the phone do not pass over the original screen (see attach). No access to Recovery or Download mode is available. I tried to unroot and start again all the process when I felt a soft brick in the pass, but still no access to Download mode that permit me to access via ODIN and reinstall kernel and recovery to solve the problem.
Any suggestions??
ROM Task JB latest release 0830
Dream Kernel
EDIT. After a long fight with my phone using ODIN, Doomroot and other tools, thanks God, it's solve. Thanks.
Hello, a few days ago i rooted my galaxy s2. I installed the multiwindow mods which turned out to be for a deodexed xxlsj(im dunning jelly bean xxls8) rom. After i installed it, a message android is upgrading showed up. Now every time i turn on/reboot my phone it shows anroid is upgrading and when i access the battery in the setting the phone freezes and reboots it sometimes gets stuck on the samsung galaxy sii boot screen so i have to restore the software for it to boot again.
Also i was thinking of installing neat rom, i have read that i should back up everything before i install a rom but it is in .zip so if a installed it through recovery would all my data be erased.

And your question is.....?
Oh, right, we don't even know what model you've got.
If it's an I9100, flash siyah v6 if you're on JB, siyah v5 if you're on ICS.
Flash a custom ROM via CWM.
That, pretty much, sums it all.

Its a GT-I9100 and it's on jelly bean i think that it's obvious since i said i am using xxls8 which is the build of jelly bean. As for my questions, the first one is how do i remove android is upgrading that appears whenever i boot my phone? The second one is will installing neatrom from cvm delete my data too?

To be honest, I didn't read your post carefully, but I assumed right.
You'll lose your data so back up before you flash.
Edit: you got all the process posted right above your previous post.

By flashing a new ROM or by wipping cache and dalvik (not on 4.0.4 of course).
You can get it to boot right?

I've tried wiping dalvik cache and wiping the cache partition before but the ''android is upgrading screen'' is still present upon booting. So is my only hope installing a rom but what i'm afraid of i wouldn't receive the new 4.2.2 jelly bean update that may be released.
Don't worry about that, you can flash your country/region after you get back on your feet.

You can already get 4.2.2 on your gt-i9100, just check out the "Galaxy S II Android Development" and "Galaxy S II Original Android Development" section for the ROMS

i installed neat rom full on my phone, i didn't notice any difference and multiwindow wasn't there kies also said that my device doesn't support upgrading so i restored my phone to the previous firmware i had but i still get that error from kies i noticed that the baseband had changed from i9100xxls8 to i9100xxms2 and my csc from xsg to xeh. i managed to change the csc but how do i change the baseband to the one i had before?
Problem solved
Unfortuntely I have messed up my UK Galaxy S2 I91000G.
Id successfully rooted using this method and installed Neat ROM.
Happily used this for a while and then decided to play and installed Blazing kernal
The problems then started. It simply booted to the Samsung S2 screen and hung. I couldnt get in to Recovery mode.
Got it in to to Download mode and despite trying methods here Im not getting much luck. I can flash a kernal using Odin. Tried official ones and CWM and they install fine. The phone reboots and I get to the Galaxy S2 screen with the yellow warning triangle.
However whenever I try and flash a ROM it fails. Tried official ones from the fixit thread plus others. All the same outcome.
Is there a bootloader I can try or anything else I can do before I trash it?! Any help much appreciated.
So....flashing a kernel is a pass and flashing a ROM is a fail?
That's a new one.

Oh. Thats not good news!
That does seem to be whats happening:
Flash a kernal - Pass and phone reboots and I get the S2 screen with warning triangle.
Flash a ROM - Fails and back to "Firmware upgrade encountered a problem. Connect phone to Kies."
Flash a kernal again and back to S2 screen.
Any ideas?

Tried a couple of different PC's and cables but assuming as kernal flashing works, that isnt the issue.

Install syiah kernel and try to get into recovery. Then use wiperom script or go to mount and format everything (/data, /system etc). Then go to download mode and flash a system.
First thing check if syiah kernel is compatible whit your phone.
