Great to see PA back on its feet again! If you don't mind me asking, who the eff are you? It always amazes me how there's someone lurking out there with enough skill to fix things! I mean this is your first thread if I'm not mistaken. Anyway, thanks a lot for your work!

I'm not on the PA team, I just happen to own a SGS2 and noticed the lack of an updated PA rom and just decided to take care of it myself.
I'm a 30 year old man from Sweden which can get quite obsessive over things I'm interested in and got in to investigate the internals of Android when I got my first smartphone, as I've always used Linux. I did a lot of modding mostly for myself, but recently I've also done some complete ports for various devices of CM. So that's a little bit at least about me.

I think you are thinking of trebuchet or something, this is something the previous developer choose to include in that case, I try to keep it the way the PA developers intended or did I understand you completely wrong?
About the flashing, from where did you try to flash it?

Man I got a good feeling about this thread. We will probably get Halo very soon. You can already feel @fldc enthusiasm about developing PA.

Haha, absolutely, this halo feature is what landed me here. My wife was telling me about this new feature in Facebook messenger and how she thought it took up to much screen space, I tried it myself and absolutely loved it.
I said to her, I want everything notifying me this way, and sure enough, days later paranoid announces this great feature

I can't do anything about it as this is closed source, but the team is aware of the issue and should probably be fixed in the next version of pa preferences.

About Carbon
CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look at, build, and use our code on CarbonDev GitHub.
We would like to thank CyanogenMod for their device trees, framework/settings mods and their code that was incorporated into this project. We also extend our gratitude to the devs whose code that we have incorporated. Proper authorship has been maintained and can be viewed on our repository.
Special thanks also go to Slim Rom for some of their features, PA, AOKP, and anyone else we may have borrowed commits from that hasn't been mentioned here. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please - let us know.
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.
Features
Simply stated, we can't really list features here. There are too many and they change too frequently, and we now support a truly insane number of devices. Chances are, if you like a feature, we have it already. Seriously.

All Carbon downloads and further information such as features, changelog, and FAQ can be found on our goo.im page.
Both nightly and release builds are available. Please note that nightlies are for development purposes. Support
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our goo.im page linked above. It's new, but expanding fast. Just like us!
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Join our G+ Community: http://community.carbon-rom.com This is where we spend the bulk of our time and the best way to reach us and other community members. We update and frequent this community far more than XDA, simply due to time constraints and the convenience of G+.
5) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

Your support means the world to us! If you've enjoyed Carbon, please consider a donation toward this goal. Thank you, and we hope you continue to enjoy Carbon!

in case anyone is wondering, the delay in seeing the boot animation is due to added support for boot audio. we haven't included any in there, but if you want, you can do so by placing any mp3 named boot_audio.mp3 in /system/media.

Is it possible on this rom to set the lockscreen camera widget to use a different camera app? i know the cm 10.1 will ask which default app you want to use.

CM and AOKP encompass far more than Samsung... and from that perspective it's wise to keep things somewhat compatible where they won't break other things. Beyond that... TW framework source is still proprietary and so there's no way to build that on your own at the moment.
Bottom line - if you want the Google Experience and still play with TW apps you're better to stick with a GE-themed TW ROM.
Thanks for all the hard work! Good to see so many official Roms from you

Awesome rom! 2 questions:
1) Is it possible to disable the home button wake option? My phone keeps waking up in my pocket.
2) Is there any way to turn off the backlighting on the capacitive keys? I like to use the navbar and it's distracting to still have the keys light up.
Otherwise, fantastic rom!

This is my favorite AOSP rom for this phone so far. Everything seems to work and it just flies in a way that CM doesn't. 3g data is as good as with TW. All I need now is for Google to release a better camera app, but we'll probably have to wait at least until KLP for that to happen.
Edit: IR blaster doesn't work. Bummer.

Call voicemail while not on speakerphone, dial your code, THEN switch to speakerphone to listen.
If gallery crashes and reboots your phone - Remove any and all mp4 files you have on your phone storage and sd card. For some reason mp4 files that were generated before 4.3 makes the gallery crash.
Anything you find? Let me know.

I was going to make a theme chooser theme for this to make it easier to correct the things I don't like color wise. But then
I found a beautiful Blacked out theme already Located Here prepared by blackout1911. He did an awesome job. So being the slacker that I am .. I just use his.
THAT SAID:
I did find a few things I wanted to correct. So I am keeping the zips going.
KitKat Fixer Flashy zips Located here:
WARNING USE ONLY ZIPS DATED THE SAME AS THE RELEASE.
NOTE:
If the Unicorn Gods decide to bork your phone with this .. I are sorry .. but I are not responsible. (But it seems safe lol)
What does this do for me, the grateful AOKP user?
It will remove some other holo blue that is in the rom for now. I am not a fan of the color, which is one of the reasons I started theming. KitKat is Hugely different from other releases that we have had, and therefore harder to theme .. and build if you ask Fuze.
What happens if I don't flash the zip dated the same as the rom?
Maybe nothing. Maybe you might loose features (like Torch). Maybe bootloops for you. Things change in every build. Usually that change is in frameworks. And yes .. frameworks is important.
What are the differences in the Fixer zip and the Hornycorn zip?
Hornycorn adds the Pink Unicorn animation. Everything else is the same.
Okay Bubba .. I got all that.. But you are old and slow .. and dagnammit I just can't wait .. so now what?
Oh a wise guy eh? okay then .. there are a special zip for you below. I left frameworks out. So for the most part, it should be fine unless there is a big change in SystemUI. It will give you the boot animation and correct the sound state toggle as well as give you the Unicorn lock handle. Mind you I said it "SHOULD" be fine. If SystemUi crashes dirty flash the rom and gapps to fix... then wait like everyone else.
INSTRUCTIONS TO INSTALL:
1. Go into recovery and back up your Unicorn Droppings before flashing. I will test flash every zip to check .. but you never know.
2. Flash the zip of your choice. Reboot and enjoy the fix.
Not so hard huh?
Where can I get this Unicorn goodness?
So glad you asked:
I are impatient and don't wanna wait
Dagnammit give me my dadgum Hornycorns right now I can't wait for your slow ass

BOOT ANIMATIONS ... I love new goodies.
These Boot Animations zips contain the listed boot animation and the unicorn lock screen handle only. To get the newest SystemUI update flash the Hornycorn zip with matching Rom date. That zip has the Unicorn Gears. Then you can change between Boot Animations as you please. Easy for you and easy for me.

I hadn't changed the governor settings before I reverted so whatever it has set out of the box. I had done a clean flash and restored my apps from the play store. Maybe was a bad flash on my part? The last version ran so smooth for me that I went back without trying too hard to fix.

Well, the reason I ask about the governor, is I know sometimes they can be flaky. I try to test all of them as fast as I can, before I release. Lol
Right now I'm at 11 hours uptime, with multiple phone calls, emails, texting, etc. - with the default governor (hyper).
Just as an FYI to everyone... I was building 2 different kernels before (2 different sources), during my "beta" releases. I was testing some things, between the kernel I was building in the ROM, and the kernel I was building separately for everyone to flash. I decided to just build the ROM with the kernel sources that I was previously building separately. Lol
Now, I do have a 3rd set of sources for another kernel ( Lmao - those of you who follow my github source trees, know ) , which I may start a separate kernel for flashing with. I know this is all confusing, but I do have a point to all this. Lol
My point is, I know some people are having issues and some aren't - hence why I have been building different kernels to try and help those having issues. I haven't had any problems with just building and flashing the ROM (except for that time with multiple Mms. lol ), but I know all of our Notes are like different women.
So for my next release, I will build a separate kernel for people with issues to try (it will be in the 3rd post).
As always - questions, comments, jokes, etc... post away. Lol :highfive:
I like pickles and this rom runs quite well.
UGH ... just UGMFH
Just to confirm, on the regular ROM listed in the OP, there is no setting to change kernels? Because if there is I can't seem to find it...

Details:
As of right now, these builds do not include Hover. The ParanoidAndroid team is still cleaning up the source code and will release it when they see fit. As soon as they do, I'll include it in my builds. These builds do, however, include both Pie and Peek.
I've been making nightly builds of ParanoidAndroid for a while, and I figured I might as well share them for anyone who's interested. Whatever changes are officially merged in the PA gerrit are in these nightlies. However, I started these builds because I wanted to use Halo, even though the PA team doesn't like Halo anymore. I know I'm not the only one. I hope you all don't mind!
Some people are interested in just the latest nightlies with the merged codes from the gerrit, though, and if that's what you guys want - let me know! I already do Vanilla builds in my Nexus 5 thread, but those don't seem as popular so I won't waste time on them if nobody wants it.
I didn't change anything from the PA team, so the kernel and everything else is the PA team's work. Depending on the latest merges, I may or may not edit a few lines so that Halo still works with the newest changes.
If you particularly enjoy these builds, and you find yourself feeling generous, feel free to buy me a beer with my donation link. If not, I'm just happy knowing some of you guys like these.
In the interest of full disclosure, I do not own this device. I wish I did, but I do not. If I upload a broken build, please let me know immediately. I'll take it down and get it fixed. However, the ROM is built and tested and it should be smooth sailing from here on out.
I pull directly from here for most of it: http://github.com/AOSPA-legacy
For my changes, see my github: http://github.com/jabza-
The changes I use for the Moto X are in the two projects "legacy_frameworks_base" and "legacy_packages_apps_Settings"

If it's in the current PA builds, it's probably in this one too. Unless they've merged some fix for it since their last release, it's there. Since their legacy branch is based off of CM, it's hard for me to keep up with all the commits, though.

Overview
This is MIUIv5 for all-carrier HTC M8.
I will not provide OTA update but will provide an update to this every 3-4 weeks which will be freshly built to reflect progress in this devices configuration as your source builders make them available.
IE: I will not update only MIUI while keeping the same base, I will update device related things so there is an actual improvement with the versionup of MIUI; hence no OTA.
Warning
I've done this a lot and by now I should get this right on the first whack; I'm not sure what bugs may exist however so please leave feedback.
Kernel-level changes have been made, you can NOT use this on a locked bootloader device.

Yes, I wrote about how to port this firmware in great detail yesterday for anybody who wants to try themselves.
The question really is do you people even care about V5 since you have V6? I could always put a different chinese firmware here..

Yes I seen your AOSP version was a little loose, btw for anyone who wants to see how I'm doing this refer to my signature I've always been open about how I operate
I mean if you guys would prefer V6 I can do that too; It's just V5 is at the end of it's development so I wanted to release a stable gem before moving onto V6 work exclusively :X up to you folks though

I just flashed and so far so good besides the normal few issues.
1. Just like all miui LTE/gsm does not stick after reboot.
2. Search on home screen FC.
3. The navbar is kinda bloated should be smaller. The xiaomi version is the only one with the correct dpi for those.
4. Themes app is not working connection error.
Still going to try a few things to see, but headphones work unlike the other aosp version of miui.

To clarify, themes is FCing with a Fingerprint error?
Edit: Search on homescreen calls 'Google Now' and will FC without G-apps
Edit 2: I figured I could edit seapps_context kernel side as long as SELinux was killed, but if it's FCing then I was wrong, if it isn't FCing it may be Xiaomis servers

Well the themes app does not force close, but it says connection error does not load themes.
The search on the home screen force closes as soon as you hit it, but I just swap out for the google one it's fine.

Ah, try to wipe the app data for theme manager; afaik this is a common issue. I mean I'll rebuild from source again if I have to it won't be bad but I would like for a second person to confirm the theme manager is broken and not just being weird like sometimes

It was the first thing I tried didn't work, and if you get the thread this would be flooded with people trying it which will get you more insight on issues.
