I need some help, my evo powered off and my power button is not working. Is there any way to boot it up in a terminal?
If its turned off, then I don't think so. What happened that it turned off? Did you run the battery down? Did you try to s-off and semi-brick it?

While charging it it should turn on within a few minutes of taking a charge. Hold the power button for 60 seconds. Keep trying to turn it on. Do a combination with the power button. Kind of mess with it a bit. That's how I got mine to turn on after that happened to me.

The power button doesn't work at all and it doesn't power on when charging. I bought a replacement power button flex cable ribbon so I guess I can just wait for it to come in

Yeah, I guess. I've never had a power button die on me -- usually it's that the charge isn't enough to turn on the phone, which means I'd have to wait for it to charge for a while.
Sorry we weren't more help!

Hi All,
Anyone else having this issue? I installed cm7 and everything was working fine. I was playing with it and installing a few apps for a few hours. Then I plugged it into its charger and forgot about it for a few hours.
Then I went to check something on it and it would not turn on. No combination of Power + Up volume or any other buttons will work. Plugging it into the computer using the same supplied USB cable into a working USB slot doesn't yield any results.
It's almost as if all of the power has drained from it (it was at 50% power when I plugged it in last before all of this happened) and it's not being recharged. Just completely dead and unresponsive.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Have you tried the POWER + HOME combo.
Remember to long press.
That is a known fix.

Thanks for the reply.
I've tried every combination of long button presses to no avail. But ill try again when I get home. Maybe within the 5-6 hours it'll "wake-up". Not bloody likely though.

Just got home and tried it. It worked! Thank you SOOO much. I did in fact try the power + home combo. I just didn't hold it down for that long. I counted until 25 alligators before the HP icon came on.
Thanks again!!

Hi all,
Ive had my View for about 6 weeks now and it has been great. But I put it on the charger the other day after the battery had been drained down. I checked it a few hours later and the amber light is just blinking. It wont turn on or anything? Does this mean I have a new paper weight? Ive tried using different chargers and cable but nothing.
Not sure, but did you try to go into hboot and power down from there? Then stick it on the charger.
If that doesnt work, maybe pull the battery for 30 minutes then put it in and try charging (before starting it up). These are things that worked with my EVO 4G phone when it got locked up. I'm not sure how hard it is to pull the battery in this though.
Can't pull the battery. Try pushing volume down plus power for ten seconds, or until something happens. That is the hard coded method for resetting, since battery pull is not possible.

Thanks for advice guys. I got it figured out. For some reason my cellphone charger stopped working so I decided too try the htc charger that came with it and voila it charged right up. I have so many other chargers in my house I never took the views charger out of the box until today.

First, this does not have a user removable battery. You have a flyer according to your sig, so you should know that lol.

If you hold down the power button long enough, the tablet will power itself off in the same manner that you can do with your windows based pc.

In a real pinch you could crack it open and disconnect the battery cable. Some have been in that situation before.

Last night, for no apparent reason, my EVOLTE decided it didn't want to turn on.
I hit the power button to turn on the screen and got nothing. It was odd because I should have had plenty of battery so I held the power button down and still nothing, except the capacitive buttons flashed a few times.
I figured something happened and my battery drained completely. Got in the car and plugged the phone into the charger and didn't even get the orange charging light. Waited a few minutes, tried to power it on again, still nothing but blinking lights.
Then I just decided to hold the power button for a really long time. Lights blinked, then stopped. I kept holding the power button and still nothing, set the phone on the passenger seat (all this time it was plugged in about 15 min) and out of nowhere, boom, it starts booting up.
Once it booted up completely, everything was normal and I had 73% battery. No way it would have gotten to 73% in 15 min if it had drained completely.
Still no idea what happened.
Hopefully someone can help you that had the same issue but its definitely uncommon.

Are you running stock or a rooted ROM, dev ROM, etc.? If stock, you might be in a handset replacement scenario. Sprint can run diags on it.

I too have had this happen a number of times since the OTA update. I'm stock, non-rooted.
Very annoying to have to wait until phone decides it's going to turn back on.
I just had this happen for the first time to me right now. So far hasn't turned back on.
It happened to me at the first few weeks. I tried all combo's, not sure which one worked. Try holding all of them down, I may have just started button mashing towards the end.
I am stock unrooted and took the OTA.
I did try to boot into bootloader which also did not work.
Glad (not really) to hear that it has happened to others. Thought about taking it to Sprint, might still do that.
Anyone else that had this issue take theirs to Sprint for diagnostics?

No, it was power and volume up. I am on the phone so I don't want to search, but holding those together got my phone back.
That happened to me with fast boot enabled, holding power button brought it back. I don't use fast boot anymore lol

This same thing happened to me. Turned the phone off to take it out of my defender and wipe it down. When I went to power back on nothing. Plugged into power and got no led. I had fast boot on. I now have fastboot off hopefully I don't run into this again. But I agree I am somewhat happy to see this has happened to others since the OTA. Btw I am stock unrooted.

Ok so I got in my car one day, checked my phone.. about 50% charge. I plugged it in to the car charger by habit. The screen turned off, so i thought it was just the display timer. But when I realized my settings are for it NOT to turn off while charging I pressed the power button...no response. In fact, there was no charging light! So ive tried different chargers, usb, everything even holding the power button down for 10secs-2 minutes and no response! This is the first time I've actually had a phone without insurance or sprint's replacement thingy (yes now ive learned my lesson). I cant send it in to HTC because my screen cracked (1st lesson) which voids the warranty. Ive just opened it and replaced the battery thinking that's the problem but apparently not.
Now that my rant is over, does anyone have an idea, solution and/or fix for this? and I've attached pics of some concerning dark spots on the connections. Is that normal or could the charger have burned up the connection(s). Do i need a new phone or can just the port/connections be replaced? I am LOST without my phone lol

my phone does same, 100% battery. next thing i know it won't turn on (power on) no matter how long i hold power button.
not even showing charge light, believe it's hard bricked.
send in to be fixed for $60, not sure if it can be .
Plug it into its wall charger and leave it alone for 6-8 hours. Its happened to others before.
That may fix it. some think its a super deep sleep or something.

Hi,
Have you tried holding down volume up+volume down+power at the same time for a while? That usually resets the phone and you can get back into recovery. Worth a shot. I hope you get it fixed brother.

I seriously am lost right now. My phone was working just fine, running the Sense 7 rom by santod040 for weeks, and I just tried to unlock my phone just now, and the screen is completely black no matter what I do, I can hold the power button for like 5 minutes and it won't turn off. The charge indicator doesn't come up when I charge it, it doesn't show up on my PC. Nothing.
Can anyone help?
My phone is probably at a very good charge and if its just going to be in sleep this would take a ridiculous amount of time to die.

Doesn't make any sense though. It's clearly on because the notification light is green, which leads me to believe its booted into the OS but is just somehow mad locked up. Guess I'll just wait for it to die and see what happens..

The phone finally died and I was able to charge it. It wouldn't respond no matter what computer I plugged it into or what button combination or for however long I had them held. I just hope it doesn't happen again. It took over 24 hours for it to die.
