Hi guys,
I have just received my transformer prime, I opened the box and tried to boot It but with no luck, it only vibrates.
I though initially that was a low battery issue, but now I have charged it fully (green light), and I'm still unable to boot it...
I have tried to boot it holding the power button for more than 30 seconds, and tried several times the normal way but with no luck.
Any advice?... is this a DOA?
Sigh.....this again. Just let it charge, it's fine.

How much time?... I mean, the LED changed from orange to green... That means its fully charged right?
right now is reaching out almost 3 hours plugged into the wall...
BTW, the screen does not shows anything... some people mentioned a red battery icon, or something like that, but my screen is dead....
Could be your charger derping, there's more people with this issue.
Put it in a plastic bag and huck it in the freezer for a bit,
the thermal protection could be stuck.
David blaine street magic. Better yet, steve jobs apple magic
LOL. hold down the power button for more than 5 seconds and voila! You guys are too funny.
I have tried every possible convination of seconds while holding the power button... 5, 10, 20, 30, 1 min... POWER + VOLUME DOWN, but is just vibrating... does not shows _anything_ on the screen...
Not sure if the reset hole+papperclip is going to help, but I have been trying to find how it works but with no luck, I guess is a combination of button + pushing the reset, but not sure how...
Your screen could be defective. Or the ribbon might not be connected to the board.

I have the same issue, just surprised that I can not use the product while it is plugged.
When i try to turn it on while it's plugged, it flashed and vibrated once showing battery bar and then died....now it just won't turn on!! AHHHHHHh!
Does this happen to other people. I heard you suppose to charge it for 6 hr before first use...but why can i not turn it on while plugged. Now All i see is the a red or orange LED light on the power button. Does it mean it is short circuited?
Can Someone confirm that this is normal.
I didn't bother charging straight away, with modern batteries there really isn't any need as far as I'm concerned. Of course people will tell you different but that's my opinion.
I had no issue with first boot, literally touched the power button for a second and on it came. Sounds like yours is no good.

Sounds busted to me OP. When I got mine I was going to let it charge fully before turning it on but as soon as I plugged it in it started booting. So I ran through setup while charging and just let it sit after that until fully charged...

Hi,
I researched a little bit more about the charger issues and to discard that, I left it charging today with another charger (I have two other Transformer 1). But I'm not holding my breath on that, the LED status is green, so I dont think is going to take more charging that what it currently have.
Thank you.

Hey man, that sounds a lot like what happened to mine. I was able to turn it on and set it up but then I fully charged it and rebooted..it never came back. The LED was green, I tried all the button combos etc...wouldn't even be recognized by my PC.
I've RMA'd it, you may need to do the same thing, sorry man...

Hey, thank for the reply...
I'm going to try to plug it to the PC and see if I can get something from it.
I was also thinking about trying to drain the battery (as some other have done when the update came), but I dont see any decent way to do it...
The screen does not shows anything (so no battery drain in there), I dont see any other decent way to drain the battery but to burn my finger pressing the power button causing the the thing to vibrate and somehow drain the battery little by little... But I dont know how much is going to take to achieve it ... I'll probably lose my finger first.
Make sure you try holding the power button down for a long time. I had a similar reoccurring issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427461
Try holding it down, there will be a buzz but don't stop holding it down until you see the boot logo. It can take holding it down a while. I kept thinking it was broken, but was just letting up too soon after the buzz.

Sorry man, after the huge wait we all had and the expectation, I have seen too many of these for comfort. I am no Apple lover, but somehow I can't imagine this kind of thing happening with iPads. Sure the occasional one in a thousand, but this is at least the 5th or 6th DOA I have read about. Seems that QC takes a back seat when demand is high: What? Those won't turn on? Throw them in a box, we need to get as many as we can out to Best Buy, they oversold the pre-orders. Let the poor guy RMA it!"
I was seriously afraid mine would be one of these, especially after they shipped it ground instead of the overnight I paid for. I guess I was a LITTLE more lucky, but no cigar either. I got one with no GPS functionality at all. Cannot even SEE, nevermind lock on any satellites both pre and post 8.3.33 update. Sigh. A "Premium Tablet" with horrible build and QC"
I hope you get a working replacement quickly. The guy who had an amber LED I knew would boot. Yours sounds like its running with no display like a few others I have seen. On guy had it drop 2 feet from on top of a pile of towels to a carpeted floor and his went into the same state. I think perhaps the video ribbon cable is easy to dislodge. Who knows... Get a new one, and give them hell to get it to you fast.
No Power
Just got my prime in the mail yesterday from best buy and I had the same problem. Wouldn't turn on right away so I charged it the full 8 hours and it still won't turn on at all...regardless of how long I hold down the power button. It only ever vibrates.
Called Asus tech support and he had me hold the power button for 8 seconds, let off power button, then hold down again until it turned on...but it never did. They want me to send the tablet in for repairs. That could take weeks. Best Buy won't do anything as they are backordered.
Many others have had this problem on androidforums.com. Asus really needs to address this
I have NO clue what happened. Wife and I were driving to see my in laws, had my phone navigating us to a pit stop at a local restaurant before we touched down at the house. Phone randomly rebooted itself, then went black after the initial HTC screen. The charging light no longer came on, and no matter what I do, I can't get it to restart or respond at all. It's a highly advanced technological marvel of a paperweight, I do say so myself.
It was charging, about 65% full, navigating, no other active programs or processes that I had started recently. Phone was rooted, S-OFF, running MeanROM. Was noticing some issues with lag over the last couple of days, but it would always settle down after I killed a couple apps. No overheating (except if I was navigating with it attached to dashboard, but that's because it's been mid to high 90s for a month or more), no dropped calls. No shock, drop, or water damage. Just an unexpected, and untimely, death.
I bought it from BestBuy on launch day, but didn't get the Black Tie Protection, so I suppose I've got to take it to Sprint and pay my freaking deductible :crying:
Same thing happened to me on mean rom. Nothing would happen even if I pressed the power for a while. I knew my battery was charged. So I connected the charger and no red led. I left the charger connected for about five minutes and it recucitated by itself. Try that and I hope you get lucky like me.
If the above doesn't work. Leave it off the charger for a day or so, then try to reconnect it. I have had this happen with my og evo quite a few times. Sometimes it just doesn't want to recognize at all.
$9.99 on the first day of buying the phone at BB, and I'm on my third EVO! God bless the Black Tie protection program, lol.

What type of car charge and how many milliamps was it. Was it plugged in when it died. The reason i ask is i keep reading about these problems, it even happened to me.
Sorry to hear hope it comes alive, mine never did

Mines died with 77 percent & never came back on. I was running Mean Rom( not saying the rom was the problem) I got it from bestbuy and didn't get blacktie protection . I took it to Sprint & they unscrewed and took it apart . The tech couldnt fix it ,and the manager told me to go back to bestbuy to swap it out . When he walked to the back the tech handed me a new phone and said real loud "sorry we couldn't help you " winked at me and I mouthed thank you and left .
Is this a prevalent problem on MeanRom or has this happened to people on other ROMs or stock? Just asking since the 3 members who had this happen to them were all on that particular ROM.
This is not ROM specific...my phone did this day one I got it on preorder...it scared me...I just left it alone and plugged the charger up hours later then worked...it could be a quirk with these dam internal batteries
I was stock and not rooted

Seems there are quite a few of these. Just an observation, I would use the opportunity to test whether the phone is "really" dead by seeing whether the unbrick tool at Lazy Panda sees the phone. Not to unbrick it but rather whether it can detect it.
http://unlimited.io/lazypanda-s-off-public-beta/evo-4g-lte-unbricker/ has a method of detecting bricked phones:" Run the following command in the terminal: chmod 755 brickdetect.sh PandaFinder"
Maybe one of their team would be kind enough to work with you on this : http://unlimited.io/jbsupport/
If it is truly a hardware issue, the phone won't be found. Who knows ? Perhaps you'll find a way around this issue.

No that will not help. However there are two possible situations that could be fixable that can exist on these phones.
1. The phone goes into download mode due to some random issue, despite there being nothing wrong with the phone. Holding power for 30 seconds should resolve this or alternatively this could be used http://unlimited.io/one-v-qhsusb_dload-fix/ .
2. Extreme sleep. We have encountered this state a few times on similar devices. The remedy for this is to plug the phone into the wall charger walk away and leave it for up to 8 hours, without attempting to power it on. There will be no charge light or any other sign of life from the phone during the time it is on the charger. It may power itself back on, if not, after 8 hours, attept to power it on.

Had this happen to my phone, pre root. Try this: Hold the volume down button and the power button.
Maybe volume up, but one of the two, and it got my phone working.
So this just happened to mine last night. I am also on Mean ROM, S-OFF, Updated radio and Firmware. Left the phone sitting on the coffee table and came back to use it. Pressed power button to turn the screen on and nothing happened.
I did the following.
Held power button for extended period of time...... Nothing
Plugged into AC charger....Nothing
Tried Volume down + Power...........Nothing
Volume UP+ Power.... Phone started up as normal and seems to be just fine.

Yesterday my dna died while at a dealership then I went to plug it into my car charger and the led came on to indicate charging. The phone automatically booted into the bootloader at which point I selected reboot phone and after that it went black as if there wasn't enough juice to boot and shut off. Since then the phone won't charge. When plugged into the wall, no orange led comes on to show its charging and after being left plugged in over night I'm still having the same issue.
I've got a lot of important things on there and I really hope there's something I can do.
Thanks :crying:

Make sure your cable isn't borked. For some reason, the cable wires break at the connector on the small end. Try a different cable. The orange charging light should come on after about 5-15 minutes of charging depending how dead it is.

At this point the phone is refusing to do anything or at least appears to be doing nothing. Pressing the power does nothing and when plugged into any power source no orange led. I don't know how I would boot into the boot loader while the phone is in this state.

Thanks. I've tried several cables and from different charging sources, wall, computer USB and my car and none make the orange led come on. I've tried holding the power for 20-30 seconds to see if I could reboot it but that didn't work either. The phone has never been dropped on anything but carpet once or twice and never near any water.

I have this exact same problem; however, my phone came back in a few days? It seems to get stuck like that every so often but then comes back and has around 30-40% battery left. I am about to lock it and put it back to stock and get a replacement.
Were you running any ROMs? I'm running a clean stock ROM.
Maybe try to open it up and disconnect the battery. This is a common pro let on the Nexus 7 and usually people get it fixed by disconnecting the battery and putting it back on. If you feel comfortable opening the phone you could try that.

Cool. Keep me updated. I'm very curious now.
When you hold down the power button for 10-15 seconds, do the led's on the bottom of the screen blink? I let mine drain all the way out. Plugged it in. the orange light was blinking slow. I held down the power button until after the led's blinked 13 times. I don't know why they blinked 13 times but they did. held down the power button again and it booted up.
When you connect it to your computer, is it found as a device through ADB commands? Is it listed as a drive attached to the computer?

Prior to disassembling it no, the LEDs never blinked when holding it down and when I tried charging it through my computer USB port it was never detected. Everything seems to be fixed now but thanks for suggestions. I still don't know what happened but hopefully it was just a one-off thing

Glad to hear your back up. Good job. It could also possibly be that the battery somehow got disconnected. I wouldn't return it unless it happens again. Just try not to let it die and I don't think it will happen again. Or if you drop it, it may also disconnect. But I wouldn't get a replacement unless the issue comes up again.

Tonight my 4GLTE was plugged into it's charging cord and was at about 95% battery. I received a phone call, picked up the phone and pushed "answer". When I did the phone turned off and it won't turn back on. I've tried the "on & down volume" many times and nothing will happen. When I plug the power cord in the charging light isn't coming on.
I have had no problems with the phone. I'm on the Tranquility ROM and everything has been perfect. When I went through the S-off process back in Dec. the phone "bricked", it acted exactly like the phone is now, will not turn on, no lights come on, nothing. The great people at Dirty Racun walked me step by step through their procedure to unbrick the phone and it started up and has been perfect from Dec. til tonight.
I'm baffled and wish like hell this phone had a battery I could pull. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
thanks,

I know is very frustating cause It's happened to me as well.
I did some searching and found some tips. Nothing solid.
Leave the phone charging even though the led doesn't turn one. Sometimes for me it will revive after a while being plugged.
Other is to hold the power button for a very long time. 1-2 minutes and hope it reboots.

Nothing lights up, that's why I described it as being dead. I'm not a novice with these phones as far as rooting and installing ROMs etc. One item I left out last night is that in the last few weeks I've had to "move" the micro usb connector around to get the charge light to come on. It would always light up and charge but had probably gotten worse, not better. Also I have my Evo4G (which I just activated so I have a phone) and with this charge cord I also have to move it around to get it to activate the charging light. I'm going to buy a fresh micro usb cord this morning in the hope that the new cord will make a difference.
I'm really not optimistic that a new cord will change anything. I declined to buy the insurance for the phone when I got it in Dec. I;ve had bad experiences with Sprint and their cost to repair the Evo4G even with the insurance. I think I'm going to install Unix on my netbook again and try the procedure that Dirty Racun walked me through when the phone "bricked" last Dec. They brought it back to life for me although this time I'm afraid it has something to do with the usb port causing the phone to shut off and die. As I said last night, the phone was charged to 95% when the call came in and I picked the phone up and it suddenly went black.
I love this phone and having to go back to the Evo4G is a real step backwards, plus I've got lots of data on the internal SD card of the LTE that I need. I'm in pulling my hair out mode now....thanks for the suggestions, if anyone thinks of anything else please let me know.

Went through this a few days ago. Battery was at 40% and i was playing CSR Racing from the market. Anyways, my phone got super hot so i ended the game and went back to my home screen....few seconds later screen went off and phone was unresponsive. Nothing i did could make it turn on again tried for a few hours. My sister has a evo lte as well so i took apart our phones and switched her battery in place of mine and voila it booted up. Didn't expect the battery to just go out like that.

Nothing i did could make it turn on again tried for a few hours. My sister has a evo lte as well so i took apart our phones and switched her battery in place of mine and voila it booted up. Didn't expect the battery to just go out like that.

That's interesting, my battery has been excellent. I do remember a few weeks ago it getting really hot while charging but it's been fine ever since. I've got the phone apart now. I needed to replace the glass screen and bought, what I thought, were replacement parts for the lcd-glass screen. I've just found out from a video that the lcd and glass screen come together as one part. I don't know if I can take the broken one off and install the new glass screen or if I have to buy the lcd and glass. I'm ticked off because the ebay seller claimed this is all I needed to replace a cracked screen OR an unresponsive LCD touchscreen. I'm glad I didn't pay much for the glass.
Thanks for the info about replacing the battery.

Update: I talked with a Sprint rep at a corporate store yesterday and he told me to bring the LTE in and he was certain HTC would fix/replace it under the 12 month warranty as long as there was no physical damage "not turning on could be blamed for". I told him damage didn't cause it to suddenly go black while plugged in at 95% charge when a call came in.
I'll have to replace my screen before taking it in although the truth is my screen had a crack in it for 2 months before this happened and had nothing to do with the phone bricking itself suddenly.
Any updates?
My wife's phone had this happen at a ridiculously inconvenient time.
Here's what to try:
1. Pseudo-Battery-Pull: Hold power button for 15 seconds, this will force the phone to shut down (if it works). Try powering back up. If nothing, then:
2. Hold Volume Up + Volume Down + Power for 2 MINUTES, and then release. That should reset the battery charge logic. (Note: this will only work at all if the phone is truly powered off) If that doesn't work:
3. Disassemble the phone, disconnect the battery. Wait 20 seconds and then reconnect the battery, and reassemble the phone.
Step 3 worked for me. Hope this helps somebody!
Thanks,
Josh

Thanks alot for the suggestions, I'll give them a try when I buy a new screen/lcd etc. and install it. Going back to my once loved Evo4G is such a step backwards I can't explain it.
Hey all,
Phone is completely stock never got into flashing roms or anything. Had to ring up my provider to turn on my internet access. They asked me to restart my phone. I held the power button down menu came up, I selected power off phone. From then I have been unable to power it back on.
When left on charge overnight charging LED is orange never turns green.
Tried holding down power button for 10 secs,30 secs nothing.
Tried holding down volume button + power button, nothing.
Tried pressing the button inside the phone when cover off, took out battery basically tried everything possible.
Figuring it might be the battery since when I checked it with a Volt meter the battery was reading 2.9 volts where it should be 3.8v.
Took out my battery from my Incredible S and flipped it since the polarities are different, phone did not respond. I bought a new battery for it anyway just to make sure but they sent me the wrong one that also has the polarity in reverse so flipped it and nothing either. This battery is 3.7v instead of 3.8v but in any case this should probably not make any difference.
The phone just refuses to power on with no signs of malfunction before that.
Anybody have any ideas?

Looks like a paperweight. You should use warranty.

Bummer and it is still under warranty but the problem is I am in Australia at the moment (bought in Europe) Would send to relatives but can't find invoice.
So I am out of luck. I spoke with HTC technical support they were absolutely useless, knew less than me. Last time I ever buy a HTC. Incredible S speaker died about 2 months after warranty. Now this with the Desire X, I guess spending $300+ on a phone gets you about 12 months use and you can throw away, great....
Is there anyway to flash new firmware onto the phone even without being able to power it up? When I connect the phone to PC nothing happens nothing it recognized on PC that anything is plugged in.

I saw one for 150 € somewhere on the internet, it's relative easy to replace. But I think it's cheaper to buy a new one...

Maim board not for sale for phones normally...what iam doing is,check warranty first coz this fault covered by warranty even if u dont have receipt service centres have to fix it. If out of warranty look for broken phone online swap main board carefully. Not difficult..
Yeah for 150 euro not worth the money rather buy an LG. I will try and get it fixed under warranty but I know in Czech if you don't have receipt they don't talk to you. Would have thought they would have the serial number in database along with date of purchase.
