Hi guys,
I have just received my transformer prime, I opened the box and tried to boot It but with no luck, it only vibrates.
I though initially that was a low battery issue, but now I have charged it fully (green light), and I'm still unable to boot it...
I have tried to boot it holding the power button for more than 30 seconds, and tried several times the normal way but with no luck.
Any advice?... is this a DOA?
Sigh.....this again. Just let it charge, it's fine.

How much time?... I mean, the LED changed from orange to green... That means its fully charged right?
right now is reaching out almost 3 hours plugged into the wall...
BTW, the screen does not shows anything... some people mentioned a red battery icon, or something like that, but my screen is dead....
Could be your charger derping, there's more people with this issue.
Put it in a plastic bag and huck it in the freezer for a bit,
the thermal protection could be stuck.
David blaine street magic. Better yet, steve jobs apple magic
LOL. hold down the power button for more than 5 seconds and voila! You guys are too funny.
I have tried every possible convination of seconds while holding the power button... 5, 10, 20, 30, 1 min... POWER + VOLUME DOWN, but is just vibrating... does not shows _anything_ on the screen...
Not sure if the reset hole+papperclip is going to help, but I have been trying to find how it works but with no luck, I guess is a combination of button + pushing the reset, but not sure how...
Your screen could be defective. Or the ribbon might not be connected to the board.

I have the same issue, just surprised that I can not use the product while it is plugged.
When i try to turn it on while it's plugged, it flashed and vibrated once showing battery bar and then died....now it just won't turn on!! AHHHHHHh!
Does this happen to other people. I heard you suppose to charge it for 6 hr before first use...but why can i not turn it on while plugged. Now All i see is the a red or orange LED light on the power button. Does it mean it is short circuited?
Can Someone confirm that this is normal.
I didn't bother charging straight away, with modern batteries there really isn't any need as far as I'm concerned. Of course people will tell you different but that's my opinion.
I had no issue with first boot, literally touched the power button for a second and on it came. Sounds like yours is no good.

Sounds busted to me OP. When I got mine I was going to let it charge fully before turning it on but as soon as I plugged it in it started booting. So I ran through setup while charging and just let it sit after that until fully charged...

Hi,
I researched a little bit more about the charger issues and to discard that, I left it charging today with another charger (I have two other Transformer 1). But I'm not holding my breath on that, the LED status is green, so I dont think is going to take more charging that what it currently have.
Thank you.

Hey man, that sounds a lot like what happened to mine. I was able to turn it on and set it up but then I fully charged it and rebooted..it never came back. The LED was green, I tried all the button combos etc...wouldn't even be recognized by my PC.
I've RMA'd it, you may need to do the same thing, sorry man...

Hey, thank for the reply...
I'm going to try to plug it to the PC and see if I can get something from it.
I was also thinking about trying to drain the battery (as some other have done when the update came), but I dont see any decent way to do it...
The screen does not shows anything (so no battery drain in there), I dont see any other decent way to drain the battery but to burn my finger pressing the power button causing the the thing to vibrate and somehow drain the battery little by little... But I dont know how much is going to take to achieve it ... I'll probably lose my finger first.
Make sure you try holding the power button down for a long time. I had a similar reoccurring issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427461
Try holding it down, there will be a buzz but don't stop holding it down until you see the boot logo. It can take holding it down a while. I kept thinking it was broken, but was just letting up too soon after the buzz.

Sorry man, after the huge wait we all had and the expectation, I have seen too many of these for comfort. I am no Apple lover, but somehow I can't imagine this kind of thing happening with iPads. Sure the occasional one in a thousand, but this is at least the 5th or 6th DOA I have read about. Seems that QC takes a back seat when demand is high: What? Those won't turn on? Throw them in a box, we need to get as many as we can out to Best Buy, they oversold the pre-orders. Let the poor guy RMA it!"
I was seriously afraid mine would be one of these, especially after they shipped it ground instead of the overnight I paid for. I guess I was a LITTLE more lucky, but no cigar either. I got one with no GPS functionality at all. Cannot even SEE, nevermind lock on any satellites both pre and post 8.3.33 update. Sigh. A "Premium Tablet" with horrible build and QC"
I hope you get a working replacement quickly. The guy who had an amber LED I knew would boot. Yours sounds like its running with no display like a few others I have seen. On guy had it drop 2 feet from on top of a pile of towels to a carpeted floor and his went into the same state. I think perhaps the video ribbon cable is easy to dislodge. Who knows... Get a new one, and give them hell to get it to you fast.
No Power
Just got my prime in the mail yesterday from best buy and I had the same problem. Wouldn't turn on right away so I charged it the full 8 hours and it still won't turn on at all...regardless of how long I hold down the power button. It only ever vibrates.
Called Asus tech support and he had me hold the power button for 8 seconds, let off power button, then hold down again until it turned on...but it never did. They want me to send the tablet in for repairs. That could take weeks. Best Buy won't do anything as they are backordered.
Many others have had this problem on androidforums.com. Asus really needs to address this

Hey,
Just received my Prime however doesnt seem to want to turn on..
Anyone had this issue?
Tried holding button down, tried holding power button + vol down but no joy
Any ideas?

Sorry think this should be in Q&A
If you just purchased it, let it charge up for a few hours or so. Alot of units hipped with battery basically dead. Should cut on after a good charge. It happened to others also.

Is there anybody in the community that repairs a unit that is bricked.
HTC Flyer Best Buy wi-fi version. Has revolutionary software on it.
Unit will not turn on.
Yesterday, I saw a video on YouTube about it. Is a method to back to Download mode, but I think the way to do this is not a same for all phones. There's a lot of videos on YouTube about it, and on ebay you can buy the cables or the accessories to do the job.
Hope this info help you.

I do NOT want to fix this myself. I have tried everything but am new to this and do not want to make things worse than they are. If I press the up and down volume at the same time, it vibrates 5 times then I get a green steady light. If I press just the up volume and hold it. It will vibrate 3 times and I get a flashing yellow or orange light. If I hold the power button for about 15 seconds it turns the light off. You can hear this connect and disconnect from the computer through the speakers. But the display never goes on. Hopefully someone knows how to fix this.

Try booting into hboot by doing holding down the volume down and power button at the same time for like 10 seconds
So many ways to boot, does not recognize them.
I described above what happens, the vol down and power do not work anymore. The power only for 60 seconds does not work anymore. I personally think the battery is dead, or the unit is in a deep sleep, or the battery charge system is disabled. But it still vibrates 5 times when I hit the vol up and down at the same time, Like I said I have spoken with HTC they do not know, (they can't tell you anything on the phone, because this has revolutionary on it) but they tell me I can get help here. So here I am. They want $290.00 to fix it. I just hope someone here can help.

Well what exactly happened to it in the first place? Were you flashing a ROM and something went wrong?
Unit turns off
Sure: I was having problems with the unit turning itself off for no reason at all.
Most of the times it would make it through the boot process to the home screen, wait about 30 seconds then shut down. If the unit stayed on for longer than 30 seconds it might last 1 to 5 minutes. Then out of nowhere just shut down. I could turn it on, it might do the same thing, or not even boot completely. Then I would let it charge for hours and try again. With the same results as above. So now I figure the battery is not charging. But like I said it is beyond me. For software it has HTC HC on it with revolutionary. I have reset it to factory software a few times. I hope this helps you figure what's up.
HTC said they heard of some way to turn battery charging back on, but would not give me that information. Do you think that might be the problem?
Thanks so much for the reply's. I sure am confused....
Smells like a hardware problem to me.

Just to be sure, you didn't take the HC update while running GB revolutionary s-off right? Cuz that could be a problem. But really it just sounds like a hardware issue to me. You might just have to get it fixed or get a new one :/
Found problem
Took case off using an online site that shows you how to take apart a flyer.
I wanted to get to the battery so I could "disconnect it" then connect. Hoping that would reset the circuit board and cpu. I did that but had the same issues. I then looked at the battery connector, and I noticed it was crooked. I took it off again and put it on completely straight. The minute I turned the power on it started to work like designed. The battery connection is not well designed. The wires to the connector just make it to the circuit board. So that any wire movement, and a slight drop might and probably would loosen this connection. However my connection was clearly put on slightly crooked. It worked until it needed more connection from the battery connector to the circuit board connector. The battery connector was on an angle so as not to make 100 percent connection. I would say it had about 75 percent connection. This connector has more than a positive and negative wire. There were about 5 wires on this. Probably why this unit still had life to it. It is charging much easier than it did. And it is working good so far. Thank you very much for the reply's, from the people that tried to help.
Just wanted to bounce this off you all and see what ideas I got back..
Device:
TF201 Rooted with NVFLASH installed, upgraded to jellybean from craiggomez's post here. Also have TWRP installed.
This install has been running for several weeks.
Scenario:
I'm just returning from a trip.. I unpack the prime and turn it on and it powers on just fine. Plug it in and let start charging and walk away. four or five hours later I hop in bed (yes, I fanatically watch TV from Plex while laying in bed) and look over and see the green light on the prime is on. I pick it up and unplug it and hit the power button to turn the screen on but get no response. I'm thinking sleep of death at this point.. Hold the power button in for 10 seconds expecting to get a vibrate and a reboot... Nothing.
I've plugged it up to a PC just to verify it wasn't on and it definitely isn't.
I know that the moment I unlocked the bootloader I voided the warranty with Asus.
Are there other steps that I can try at this point to verify that it's truly dead other than what I've done?
Thanks in advance for any replies.
(Moral motivation to upgrade to the Tf700.. Hmmm I'm thinking so. )
I'm thinking SOD, also. Hold the power button down longer and see what happens. I seem to remember mine taking a while longer than 10 seconds (more like 20).
You could also try that little reset button in the little round hole about 1" below the microSD card slot. Just unfold one end of a small paper clip, and you can reset your Prime by sticking it in the hole.

I used a straightened staple and achieved the same result.. I actually felt the reset button push in and release when I backed off with the paper clip.. Still no change. Do I have to press this button in tandem with another or is it a solo button?
Have you tried booting to recovery?
Also..could it be that your charger cable is defective, and that you arent getting a charge (meaning your battery is sill dead)?

Did you have this charging on the dock? I once had a similar scenario where it wouldn't turn on and then I plugged the power cable directly into the prime bypassing the dock and it came on with full charge.
Congrats on your new toy. How does it run in comparison?
Did your rear camera work. If your done with your tf201, I'd like your camera if your not gonna do anything with it.

Ok so I got in my car one day, checked my phone.. about 50% charge. I plugged it in to the car charger by habit. The screen turned off, so i thought it was just the display timer. But when I realized my settings are for it NOT to turn off while charging I pressed the power button...no response. In fact, there was no charging light! So ive tried different chargers, usb, everything even holding the power button down for 10secs-2 minutes and no response! This is the first time I've actually had a phone without insurance or sprint's replacement thingy (yes now ive learned my lesson). I cant send it in to HTC because my screen cracked (1st lesson) which voids the warranty. Ive just opened it and replaced the battery thinking that's the problem but apparently not.
Now that my rant is over, does anyone have an idea, solution and/or fix for this? and I've attached pics of some concerning dark spots on the connections. Is that normal or could the charger have burned up the connection(s). Do i need a new phone or can just the port/connections be replaced? I am LOST without my phone lol

not even showing charge light, believe it's hard bricked.

This exact thing happened to me about a month ago. Whats happening is your battery is basically dead/at 0% or 1%. When you try and charge it the phone gets hot so it's not gonna charge.
What i did was literally put the phone on ice. You gotta get a bowl big enough to put a bunch of ice in, then put some kind of layer over that. Like a bag or foil. Something to keep your phone from getting wet. Now sit your phone on top of the ice and plug it into the charger. The phone is gonna slow charge and it'll take a couple hours to charge 4 or 5%. Wait 3 hours while keeping it on ice/charging it. Then take it off the charger and it should turn on. Now put it back on the charger and it'll charge normally. Idk how much of this made sense to you, but this worked for me after trying many other things.
Thank you so much. you have helped revive a dead phone. I followed your instructions to the letter and after three and a half hours found the phone to have charged to 60%.
The ice really worked. The heat wasn't allowing it to charge.

I'm glad yours worked out but my case is a little different. One night I was playing games for hours and hours and while I had the charger connected so it wont die on me and when I started to notice that it's getting pretty hot, I put it down and its still charging and let it charge overnight. When I woke up the phone won't turn on anymore. When I hold the power for a long time it would start blinking but the screen won't turn on or anything and when I let go of the power button it will stop blinking, power + volume up or down combinations has not effect or whatsoever.
So I decided to connect it to my laptop thinking that maybe it got brick and I'll restore with LGNPST but it won't even recognize the phone, no matter what button combinations I make. So I was thinking maybe the battery was bad so I bought a new battery, removed the screws &cover but when I installed the new battery the damn thing still won't turn on. So now I'm thinking maybe it's the charging port, I have replaced the charging/mic module as well and went through all the trouble of disassembling the phone BUT IT STILL WON'T TURN ON!
I don't know if this method will work but it won't hurt I guess but considering I have replaced the battery already and the phone had already cooled-down since it's been days that I can't turn it on. ANYONE OUT THERE CAN SHED SOME LIGHT PLEASE!

well for trying almost everything even to the point of replacing parts I guess it's time for me to say goodbye to my beloved LG Optimus G. It's sad coz this phone is pretty powerful and good looking too, I dont even think I've unlocked the full potential of this phone but it served pretty damn well and unfortunately I think it's out of warranty already since I've had it for almost 2 years now.

I could probably help with your problem too if it's not too late. This same thing happened to my mom's phone(She has the LG Optimus G as well) My first guess was to replace her motherboard. I ordered her another optimus g from EBay that had a cracked screen and cracked back for $40(make sure it's an unlocked phone). The internal hardware was all in working order. I simply replaced the motherboard in hers with the one from Ebay, and it worked. If you haven't gotten rid of the phone yet you could try this. I found a teardown guide on youtube that made it really easy to remember where to disconnect and reconnect everything to the motherboard. The only downside to this is it's basically a new phone and anything not stored on your sd card will be gone. It's like a factory reset.
hey mate, wow I didnt think anyone would reply to my post anymore.. thanks for replying, anyway no I havent gotten rid of it yet though I already got a Galaxy S5 if I can fix it soon I can still return the S5 coz right now I'm not happy with it coz of the locked bootloader.
I was actually thinking of doing that since I've already gone through all troubles of replacing the mic/charging port module so why not just continue experimenting on it. I will follow your advice but do you know anywhere or anyone else I can find just like the one you got?
Your advice is greatly appreciated, thanks
