[Q] s3 mod - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi all,
im new to the forum but read up on here lots of times. i reluctantly have to now beg for help as im at my wits end here. i rooted my s3 phone a month ago after it kept crashing with the stock samsung fw on it. So i rooted and used odin 3 to install cm-10.0.0-d2att.zip. this was great for two month then all of a sudden, no reason the phone kept restarting and not getting past the samsung logo screen again, yes the phone has issues so i then wanted to install the stock firmwre and use triangle app to zero the counter. stupidity on my part i foolishly loaded the wrong file and loaded cm-10.1-20130504-nightly-i9100.zip . great firmware but not what i wanted.
so i installed the custom one which kept aborting loading from external sd saying something about unable to verify signature. i have also tried to load the origional custom firmware cm-10.0.0-d2att.zip but nothing will load now. and no firmware will load and again it wont get past the logo screen. My only saving grace is that i can still get into downloading mode and the boot mode with the up key.
Please please help if you can
Sincerely
Fei

Try flashing a stock Samsung rom via odin from your pc, if that doesn't work then probably a new motherboard is required.

yeah i did try that . im getting E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
im using android system recovery <3e>
i was using something ele prior to this, not sure what

That's the stock recovery. I don't believe that will flash firmware, which is why you get the error, before you probably had CWM.
As said before, go to download mode and flash a stock rom from sammobile through odin, if it doesn't work. I think it may be bricked (someone more experienced may disagree though)

[Q] when installing a rom i get e: missing bitmap ideterminate2(code -6)

first time post i've looked for this problem but could not find it anywhere.
My vibrant started acting funny the other day. i had nero v3 on it about a week ago then it randomly rebooted and would stay stuck on the main vibrant boot screen. i tired to reinstall the new version but it did not work.
i used odin to get back to stock, i've tried to use clockwork to install several different roms but i get and error saying "e: missing bitmap ideterminate2(code -6)" then it says "finding update package" then i sits there and does nothing. i let it sit there for about an hour and nothing happens.
my phone does not like going into download nor recovery i have to use adb to make it do anything.
has anybody had this problem or know how to fix this. if not i'm just to crack and buy a new phone.
i really hate the stock ROM.
any help or advice would be much appreciated.
Does it say 3e recovery on the top? I had a similar problem and it was because my recovery got changed to 3e from 2e. If that is the case then look for the modified 3e thread in the development section

i just took at look it said 2e.

Stock Rom installation problems

Hi Everyone
I tried out cyanogen mod yesterday and ive decided that as good as it is, it isnt for me. Ive downloaded the latest stock rom for vodafone uk from sammobile but when i try to install it using CWM it keeps failing saying "Can't open /sdcard/19300xxell5_I9300VFGELLI_vod_2.zip (bad). The zip extracts without errors in windows so im sure its not corrupt. Does anyone have any ideas i could try to get it installed.

Stock Samsung firmware needs to be flashed with Odin 3.04 in downloadmode, not in CWM. But reset the flash counter first with Triangle Away.

[Q] Tried installing TWRP and now wont boot

Hey. Im not sure if there is a thread similar to this or not, I tried looking around and cant see any. The one i did see, was for a tablet.
Here goes....
I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830i. It has gingerbread on. I rooted it 2 days ago as eventually I want to install JB onto it. I Tried to install TWRP (TWRP-2.4.1.0-cooper) onto my device, then rebooted after a 'successful' install. Only when I reboot, even now, it doesnt boot up. It gets to the Samsung screen, then stays there. Left it all night ( 12 hours or so ) and checked this morning, still the same.
HERE IS HOW I DID IT:
1. Rebooted into Recovery ( by holding Volume Up + Home + Power )
2. Apply update from sdcard
3. Scrolled to the file (TWRP-2.4.1.0-cooper)
4. Said successfully installed and rebooted.
I then swapped SD Card with another phone so i could remove this file of the Samsung phone, and replace with with recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.6-galaxyace-fix then put the SD Card back into samsung.
SOOO, today I tried the same procedure, but with another custom recovery (recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.6-galaxyace-fix) and now I get this messages:
E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
I have even used ODIN, and tried to flash that way, BUT IT SAYS MY PHONE IS NOT CONNECTED.
All I want to do now is be able to boot, NORMALLY so i can access my phone again. My phone is on contract, so I cant send it back as it has been rooted.
PLEASE HELP.
thanks in advance.
P.S ON THE ACTUAL RECOVERY PAGE, I GET THIS ERROR MESSAGE:
E:failed to mount /system (Invalid argument)

First of all, aks all the questions in Q&A
Second- TWRP and JB are not available on our device! (s5830i)... you must have got this from s5830 thread, which is totally different phone! Read before flashing these things!!
Third- Here's the unbrick tutorial with links for drivers!

of course.... how do you think you are goint to unbrick our phone then?
flash the original firmware for your. device which can be found on sammobile. com but then you will have to split the package by yourself... if you want to avoid tha pain of splitting package.. you can download the splitted package provided in the guide!

Not available for now.. I am working on it with the developer of TWRP.

Bootloop. Can't get into recovery.

Not sure what the CM updater uses, but I have tried to update with Philz, got stuck in an installation loop of the update itself.
Tried to use my jig and flash back to stock right now, got into download mode and was able to flash back to stock, but right now, I got into download with the jig, flashed stock ROM, and got a bootloop but am UNABLE to get into any recovery at all.
Pretty screwed up. Really need some suggestions here, guys.
Any ideas?!
I can get into download mode and flash via Odin (USB drivers installed via Windows 8)
Flashes successfully, installs stock recovery, reboots into bootloop.
No idea how to fix it.
Not a noob here. Nothing is working.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I had the same problem and I ended up finding a working CWM tar file that can be installed using ODIN and I was then able to boot into CWM fine.
This is the exact file name: recovery-cwmtouch-6.0.2.7-GTI9300
I don't remember where I downloaded it from, but if you Google the exact file name I am pretty sure you'll find it. Just flash it using Odin and you'll be good to go.

Well, now I'm even more f****ed than before, because I had a zero count, but after trying this, I got a custom count in download, and I still cannot get into recovery.
Nothing works.
Bye, bye warranty.
Edit:
The 6.0.2.7 version by MSKIP worked, but the updated one did not.
I got recovery, now I'll see if I can flash stock and recovery to get my counter back to zero.
Sorry to hear about the counter. I'd suggest rooting your device, installing Triangle Away, resetting your flash counter and then finally unrooting your device by installing stock ROM from SamMobile or such. That's the best route if you want your warranty to remain intact.

He probably needs a booting phone first.
But like he said, he's not a noob. He knows all that

Hi all,
I am stuck in the very same problem as of today!
I don't know what to do!
One more weird symptom is that when I tried to charge the Note battery..it suddenly went to bootloop again!
The battery was 100% at the begining of that damn update process!
I don't know what to do..all suggestions are so welcomed.

[Q] Unbricking help

Brother-in-law dropped his s4 in the sink. After panicked drying it will turn on but the rom is scrambled. So he gave it to me. I can get it into recovery (odin) but I'm afraid I don't know much about odin. I found the most recent stock rom but it keeps giving me an error "Secure check failed: hidden". Is this because I'm using the wrong rom file or is it just permabricked?

You can Odin back to stock & use Odin to flash a recovery like Philz Touch or TWRP. Unless, of course, it's a later build than MDK. In that case you are going to have to use Safestrap as a recovery and will be limited to the roms compatible with it. Roms are flashed from a recovery program, not from Odin.

I haven't done much with the SGS4 yet, but I think the problem you are having is the phone was not running the most recent software release (MK2) From what I've gathered in reading through other threads is you're going to have to try flashing each stock rom version until you find the right one. Of course the phone could just be completely screwed and nothing will work. I'd start by trying to flash MDK, if that works, consider yourself lucky because that is the holy grail version to have. You can actually unlock the bootloader and put a custom recovery on.
